hey ladies,

There are a few of us who are ttc after mc's, however there will be ladies out there who are also ttc for the first time or second or third without success. If anyone is on, considering or had success on a super ovulation programme then do join us. How long did it take ? Did you try IUI with it.. ? Did you have PCOS?

Kicking this off and hoping some of you will join....

Hi All
duggs sorry for the bfn :(
suemays good luck with your scan today

Have hopped over from the pred thread as am in a state of total confusion, so excuse long rambling rant. Basically was taking 25mg clomid for CD2-4 under Prof Regan when I got bfp in August, but had mmc in Oct. Decided to go and see Mr S for further investigation and he diagnosed v high NK cells but we had to wait out TTC in Jan due to tests. He was happy for me to take the clomid, as before, this cycle and then start on pred. I told him that I would have cycle monitoring at St Mary's as I know Dr White there and feel comfortable. I went for scan this am CD9 and have 4 follicles all between 17mm-20mm and uterine lining 6mm. Dr White said that was too many follicles to TTC this month. I have let Cheryl at NLC know as I don't know what my next step should be. She said Mr S has seen my emails and says I should follow St Mary's protocol, but that she will show him my result email. I now think I should have gone to NLC for my scan and everything would have been easier and we would have plan going forward. Instead I don't know whether to TTC (will ov over the weekend), take the pred, if I needed the clomid at all? I really want to be under Dr S to get the NK cell treatment, so will give up scanning at St Mary's but don't want to do that until I know Dr S is willing to help! Arghh!!!

eurochick · 16/02/2012 13:16

I'm spotty on the Letrozole too :(

pebbles re: taking the two together, do you mean you have been prescribed 5mg a day but you have been given 10x2.5mg tablets? Yes, I take mine together.

bellyd I don't know what to suggest. i effectively haven't had monitoring scans as the first cycle it ended up being way before ov and couldn't be repeated due to Xmas getting in the way and then in the second cycle i oved early and was scanned afterwards! If you fall pg easily then having 4 eggs is potentially risky. I know I don't so would probably give it a go! If I haven't made one egg stick in 16 cycles, it's pretty unlikely 4 would at once.

duggs1976 · 16/02/2012 13:51

I'd second that . . The likelihood 4 eggs would successfully fertilise and implant is low so low for us Super ov
Bunch. Go for it without the trigger x

Thanks duggs and euro for the advice. Think you are right, so unlikely all will take and knocking on door of 40 so don't want to waste precious eggs.

snoopygirl · 16/02/2012 18:32

Hi Sue How did the scan go?

thanks for the advice everyone. Just to clarify are you saying sue that you would take Letrozole anyway. Isnt' that a bit risky? Although i see what your saying to bellyd. Wouldn't Dr S/Louise be peed off if I was taking it without being scanned to check all ok and not too many follicles? Going against his program as it were?

Does it matter what time of day you take it?

good news that Letrozole improves egg quality - as starting to wonder if that's my problem.

snoopygirl · 16/02/2012 21:01

Right decision made: I am officially a SOer!
Necking Letrozole tonight and will book scan tomorrow Smile bring on the spots!!
Hope you had a good result Sue

I'm scared never taken so many bloody drugs in my life.

suemays · 16/02/2012 21:55

belly did they say anything about your womb lining as I was told it should be at least 7mm for implantation? I know dr s monitors it and can give you drugs to thicken it. For that reason I would try and speak to dr s or someone at st Mary's to ask them. The last thing you want is the risk of a chemical pregnancy if nothing can implant. If that's the case at least the decision is out of yours hands as a pregnancy wouldn't happen so you won't keep wondering what to do. Also you can get the drugs to help the lining for next month. I guess dr s ethically can't say too much as you are under st Mary's as it would be conflicting treatment.

snoopy you could always pay for a scan elsewhere if you are worried about there being too many follicles after taking the letrozole and letting dr s know the results. I wouldn't waste time as it can take 4 months to build up in the system. I take letrozole with my folic acid at dinner time. Know what you mean about taking loads of drugs as I dont even take paracetamol normally!

I had my scan today so I have 2 good size follies with an endo lining of 9.7. Dr s said he was happy with that so I am doing the trigger shot tomorrow. He is also starting me on the anti malaria drug to try and regulate my cycle as might take me off the steroids in 6 weeks. It takes 6 weeks for the anti malaria drug to kick in. As I have v high killer cells he says I will miscarry if I don't have one or the other. I also asked him about ivf which will be our next route if 6 rounds of SO doesn't work. He said that I would have to have a hysteroscopy if I wanted to go for ivf so I am going to get on the waiting list now on the nhs to speed it up and avoid paying privately. He is also increasing the letrozole up to 7.5mg as he said he would like to see 3 follies next month if I don't get preg.

pebbles this is my 2nd round on SO.

eurochick · 16/02/2012 22:00

sue did he say why you would need a hysteroscopy? What would they be looking for?

Pebbles73 · 16/02/2012 22:45

Sorry I can't help Belly D as am new to this also but I would probably just go for it!!

Snoopy what day are you going for your scan? Haven't confirmed yet but mine should be next Friday at 8:20 at nlc, nice early start for me!!
My instruction sheet from Mr S said to take the letrezole in the morning but I can't relly see it would make any difference what time you take it.

Good luck for this cycle Sue.

snoopygirl · 17/02/2012 10:54

Hi all

Sue thanks for the info. I think I will scan with Dr S first month or so depending on how much it's going to cost (does anyone know I can't remember) and after that if no joy will go with a private one round here. I am looking forward to seeing what my lining is like- maybe that's the problem with things not sticking. Wonder how quickly Cyclogest takes to thicken lining up? At least this whole SO thing gives us a bit of insight into what's going on in there! Oh does the Letrozole make you feel sick, feel squiffy this morning.

pebbs I am booked in for thurs next week at 4.30pm so will have to battle rush hr on way back! they had a free space at 8.00am fri before you prob but that means me getting up and leaving at 6am! So thurs it is.

duggs I think you are 14dpo today, any joy?

snoopygirl · 17/02/2012 10:56

Sorry Sue great news that things are looking good on scan front. and the lining. Loads of good luck to you this month! xx

eurochick · 17/02/2012 11:07

snoopy the Letrozole doesn't make me feel sick. I always take it with my breakfast though. The only side effect I get when on it is the occasional headache (I don't really get headaches otherwise). It's in the days after I stop until ov that I get most side effects - hot flushes, more headaches and generally feeling cr@p. But a I've said before, I always tend to react badly to hormonal drugs. Even the Pill. So you might not have the same.

snoopygirl · 17/02/2012 11:15

Been headachey this morning and in night actually. Hot flushes theres something to look forward to!

suemays · 17/02/2012 13:03

euro a hysteroscopy is required apparently with all ivfs to check there is no scarring that can prevent implantation. Its free on nhs but around £1600 privately. I guess it's another thing to cross off the list.
I got stuck on the m25 for around an hour and a half last night after going to nlc!

Letrozole also gives me hot flushes.

Pebbles73 · 17/02/2012 13:17

I asked Mr S snoopy about scanning more locally and he said he would rather do it at least the first couple of months to see how everything is working. I think the scn is around £200.....

Anyone felt tired form the metformin? Have felt totally shattered the last few days unless it is the letrezole. My doctore was quite surprised by the does of metformin and thought it was very high, he said my blood sugar levels must be very low.

eurochick · 17/02/2012 16:11

Really sue? My 2 closest friends have had IVF and neither of them have had it. And I have been referred for IVF and it hasn't been mentioned.

duggs1976 · 17/02/2012 17:54

Hey ladies - AF here in full force. No hysteroscopy needed if dr happy with the scans. I'm starting IVF and CGH at London womens clinic next week. Merformin - dr s doesn't seem to check blood levels. If He sees polycycstic ovaries it seems to be enough for him. Letrozole wasn't too bad for me. I've done 3 cycles now.
Looking forward to seeing folk Sunday.

So sorry things didn't work out duggs with IUI. do you only give that one shot then? Your certainly a woman on a mission and don't hang about! You can fill us in on Sunday x

duggs1976 · 18/02/2012 08:32

Yes will do. I was about to start IVF with CGH in September when I got my nk cells diagnosis. I said I'd give it 6 mths to try and if no success then go back to IVF so here we are. See u guys tomorrow. 1pm at prezzo ?!

OP posts:
suemays · 18/02/2012 13:06

Euro thats what Dr S told me on Thurs. He doesn't think I have any scarring etc as he said you can normally see it and my womb lining is nice and thick this time (9.7mm). I have no idea what the standard protocol is at IVF clinics so maybe thats what they do??? Did your friends have recurrent miscarriages as maybe that's the difference? I think it might be because of the risk or ashermans from D&Cs.

Duggs did you know Zita West do IVF with CGH now too? They also treat killer cells so it might be another alternative. Do the Womens clinic recognise killer cells?

Snoopy I just paid £210 for the scan and consultation with Dr S. I am coming back as a consultant in my next life as not bad for 25 mins work! BTW does anyone else find it painful/uncomfortable having the follicle scan? My one with Dr S was yesterday but he was a lot rougher than the ones my local private one did! I felt a bit like a mixing bowl at one point!

Will see some of you tomorrow at Prezzo - 1pm.

snoopygirl · 18/02/2012 13:14

LOL sue the things we have to endure!! Christ not looking forward to that now!
I think I'll have no choice but to have the cheaper scans somewhere else after first couple.

I'll stop yakking now and we'll talk tomorrow. Smile

eurochick · 18/02/2012 13:48

sue if he is looking for scarring they yes, the scans could be the difference. Both friends were in the same position as me, i.e. had never been pregnant before the IVF.

I don't find the scans painful or uncomfortable but I do feel them more than the couple I have had recently on the NHS. I think the difference is that for the NHS ones I was in stirrups. Personally I prefer the probe being moved around a bit more to being stuck up in stirrups which I detest. It's a trade off I guess!

I am always so interested to see my insides on the screen that I don't take that much notice of what he is doing with the probe.

Pebbles73 · 18/02/2012 19:02

I was just wondering what the people going tomorrow look like??? Will be v strange walking into somewhere to meet you and looking for people have no seen before!! :)

suemays · 18/02/2012 19:15
