duggs1976 · 17/01/2012 22:21

hey ladies,

There are a few of us who are ttc after mc's, however there will be ladies out there who are also ttc for the first time or second or third without success. If anyone is on, considering or had success on a super ovulation programme then do join us. How long did it take ? Did you try IUI with it.. ? Did you have PCOS?

Kicking this off and hoping some of you will join....

It was a no this morning, also no self control duggs but didn't really expect to see anything (so why did I do it?). Last month when I got a bfp I didn't get it till 14dpo.

Let me know how you get on. Have you any symptoms? I have zilch! I am putting on weight slowly and surely and its really getting to point that I am getting worried about getting it off again. Never been this heavy before. Try and get out on bike now weather bit milder, doesn't inspire me though.

duggs1976 · 13/02/2012 18:15

Ohh I am with you snoopy I have never got a bfp before 14dpo but I know i will test from tomorrow all week nowSad I am the biggest I've ever been and the longer this goes on the more it becomes the "norm". Looking forward to catching up with super ov gang.

Hello ladies! Right, that's me officially on the Super Ovulation thread now that I've seen Mr S. He seemed quite happy with my LH/FSH levels. OH's sperm morphology is only just within acceptable range though. He said it shouldn't be a problem but now I'm trying to decide whether to try SO or go straight to IUI on the first cycle.

Duggs, you're the -obsessive researcher- expert, what are your thoughts on this? Have you come across any findings that show a difference in success rates between the two?

Also my lining is very thin (as I'd suspected), so I'm taking hormonal supplements to improve it, as well as having to use Cyclagest from mid cycle.

I can't help wondering about something now, I'd been having cramping around 7dpo for months now. I can't help but wonder if this may have been something trying unsuccessfully to implant in my barren lining.

duggs1976 · 13/02/2012 19:20

Great news kittens it gives real reasons for the struggle. My advice would be to try one round of super ov as the mid ov
Scan will tell u how well you've responded to letrozole/Femera. It took me a couple of cycles to get my response right with the right size follies. Once u and dr s happy with your follicle size response - he will also check the lining is as thick as he wants it. Once u have those 2 things sorted then from £250 to £720 super ov
(£470 difference). You go for IUI. But it would be too much of a risk to go straight for it as it could be a waste of money. The good thing is new life clinic in Epsom dr gafar is linked to dr s so I'd say see dr s first time and then if second time is needed then they will tell u if IUI is possible. The stats on IUI are very discouraging as is first line of treatment on nhs for many. Nat average success rates are 13% which made me think why bother- but if u scratch surface if the sperm is not the best then it does make sense. Hope this helps kittens

Thank you duggs, that is most enlightening. Gives me something to think about it whilst I'm away. Fingers crossed you get a BFP in a couple of days.

snoopygirl · 13/02/2012 21:26

Dr Duggs your are sounding like Dr S's assistant! Great info.

kittens have a fab break you deserve it. Shame you can't come to the meet but I'm sure you would rather be in exotic Istanbul.

duggs1976 · 14/02/2012 08:57

Yeah I can spout it all out, can't seem to get myself knocked up though- even with a billion fekkin' sperm literally shoved up there. . AHHHR . . .

suemays · 14/02/2012 17:22

Give it time Duggs as this could be your month!

Pebbles73 · 14/02/2012 17:53

Hi all, hope you are all having a nice valentines! Sorry not been on here for couple of days.

I am happy to do either on Sunday, we should check to see who has some offers on at the mo. :)

So Kittens you are joining us on the super ov plan, hope it sorts things out for you.

Sorry about the bfn snoopy & duggs still early days though so don't give up hope yet.

Wondering if I could get your opinions on something. Due to start letrezole in couple if days but means I will probably be away skiing in my 2ww. My dh thinks we should maybe wait until next month and I kind of agree but am keen to get going. I guess skiing and drinking in 2ww us not ideal though.......

Hope I haven't missed anyone, in my i phone so not easy as service keeps going.

suemays · 14/02/2012 18:29

Pebbles will you be around to have your follicle scan? I dont think there is much point taking the letrozole if you are not having a scan as you wont be able to see how your body has reacted to the drug. I wouldnt worry about the drinking and skiing too much in the 2ww.

duggs1976 · 14/02/2012 18:29

My advice go skiing and don't wait!! Most people won't know they r pregnant then so nothing can harm embryo smaller than pin head ! Putting things on hold increases pressure on you x

There is a Prezzo in Amersham Old Town and I have downloaded a voucher for 25% off the total bill (up to 6 people). Duggs was suggesting 1pm to meet there this Sunday - is everyone happy with that? You can park for free in Tescos carpark and then its around a 5 min walk along the high st. So who can make it? Snoopy I think you said you could, Pebbles can you still come? I will put a message on the other thread too as Dunnit said she would liek to join us.

duggs1976 · 14/02/2012 18:53

Great sue sounds good !

OP posts:
Pebbles73 · 14/02/2012 19:34

Thanks for the advice girls just what I wanted to hear. Grin. As long as I ov early like this month will be fine for scan as don't go for two and a half weeks.

Sue Prezzo sounds great, thanks for sorting the voucher.

Just been to the doctors about a couple of things and asked about getting my prescriptions from Mr S changed to NHs but would only agree to do the Metformin. He seemed slightly concerned by the 500mg three times a day and asked if I had been feline sleepy which I haven't. Might ask a different doctor next time re the steroids.

snoopygirl · 15/02/2012 08:35

sue yes definitely be there.

snoopygirl · 15/02/2012 17:32

Ladies what do you think I should do? Bleeding like normal af now so looks like another very brief chem as had faint line yesterday. Would you start Letrozole tomorrow day 2 bearing in mind I was told to give myself a break of one month and didn't after last chem last month.
I feel as the timings are critical with scan etc that i should leave it for this month and maybe just ttc normally again this month and start SupOv next month. What do you think?
My cycles have shortened to 25 days from 28 over last few months which I spose is pred. Is that an issue as long as I know where I am with things?

duggs1976 · 15/02/2012 19:29

Hey snoopy is a tough call as I am not really sure how much difference it makes to waiting when u seem to be loosing them so early? The downside to SO is when u start letrozole off u go, but it really only increases the eggs coming out. I would perhaps say it might be an implantation issue - which will be down to either the uterine lining ? ( could u try cylogest progesterone suppositories after ov) or egg issue - which would be a case of keeping going as u r or looking into IVF with or without CGH? Obviously I am not a medical professional but it does seem odd u seem to trigger the line. R u sure the trigger ovitrelle injection is out of your body when u test as it can last between 10 and 13 days. I got a bfp on Thursday for example - u need to do an early test to check the line is getting fainter to ensure it is coming out of your system. (no one told me this and in dec I was excited and then dissapointed)

OP posts:
Pebbles73 · 15/02/2012 21:27

Snoopy what a mare for you having another chemical!! So all your last three bfp's have been chemicals?
I agree with Duggs that's it's a difficult decision but as your af has arrived at the normal time I would assume the chemical hasn't upset your hormones or anything so can't see that it would hurt to start super ov.
Re 25 day cycle as long as your leutal phase isn't too short (not sure when you normally ov) don't think it should cause you a problem but maybe ask Louise about it when she is back.
Start the letrezole tomorrow, thought I would be excited to get going on the new treatment but just feeling like here we go again! I guess seeing that nobody is having much luck with it so far is making me feel not v enthusiastic! Hmm. That and tired of ttc just want to hurry up and have a baby.

Euro I saw on the pred thread that you were feeling a bit upset as you were the last out if your friends not to have children or be pregnant. I have exactly the same thing and a lot of my friends have two or three. I hate it when they start going on about their kids for ages....... :(

eurochick · 15/02/2012 21:58

Same here, Pebbles although I do love most of my friends' kids.

I did some internet research on Letrozole before I started taking it. The results for Clomid/Letrozole in women who are already ovulating are not great. I guess because there is some other reason those women aren't getting pregnant as there are already eggs present without the drugs. The results for non-ovulating women are much better. Frankly I was just glad to have something to try after so long. But I am not that optimistic that it will help a lot. But it is a relatively inexpensive and low risk thing to try to help matters along.

Snoopy it's a tricky one. I can't believe you have had another CP.

snoopygirl · 15/02/2012 22:14

duggs I havent' done any trigger shots yet at all. This would be my first go on SO. So no chance of it causing confusion ( i know what yo are saying as remember your post from before when you got ur hopes up).

Oh dear euro perhaps SO for me isn't the answer then as I seem to be oving and catching ok. duggs you may have a point re lining. Oh bugger what to do.

pebbs last 2 chems for me. Is Louise away then?

Thanks everyone I'll sleep on it i think.

xx

duggs1976 · 16/02/2012 04:50

Ahh I see interesting point pebbles. The eggs we do have just get pushed out in twos on SO. I got spotting and another BFP just now - my daily wake up time Sad that is with IUI. I will accept I have an egg quality issue and will try IVF and CGH now as next step. I don't think SO is to give up on for everyone- but I want to know now if I have a load of shite eggs so I can think about what to do. snoopy def speak to Louise. I'd try piping the cylogest?

OP posts:
duggs1976 · 16/02/2012 04:51

Opps freysen error Bfn I got another bfn !

OP posts:
Pebbles73 · 16/02/2012 12:16

Snoopy what did you decide to do today re the super ov?? Did you go for it? I see it is your first super ov cycle too. I took mine this morning, I assume you take both tablets together? Has anyone had any side effects from this?
Louise is on leave at the moment and it said to just emai lthe office in her absence and Cheryl replied to me.

Duggs I think you meant Euro.... :) Also so sorry the iui didn't do the trick- will yo udo ivf through nlc?

Having a bit of a pain with the Homecare ovitrelle delivery, they told me if it is delivered to nlc there is n odelivery charge but nlc emailed me saying it is still £14.99! Luckily I had the name of the girl who said no delviery charge so Cheryl is looking into it. Why is nothing simple.........

suemays · 16/02/2012 12:28

Snoopy so sorry to hear about your CP again. I spoke to Louise indepth about mine and she said its quite common for your body to get ready for a pregnancy even if it is not viable at the outset. Maybe thats whats happening for you so its not a true chemical? The body can play tricks sometimes like that. Most 'normal' women would have no idea as dont test that early. I was told that the letrozole helps improve egg quality too so I would start on it even if you dont do the trigger shots. Maybe thats why most women fall after 4 cycles on it as it improves the quality (just a thought). I wouldnt give up yet but I feel as frustrated as you.
I have my scan today at NLC so praying that my follies have grown.

Pebbles I found the letrozole made my skin greasy so more spots! To add to moonface and weightgain, I am surprised DH wants to go near me!

Pebbles73 · 16/02/2012 12:34

Sue thats interesting about the egg quality I didn't know that. How lovely the side effects sound already get some great spots because of the pcos! Although I do have eczema so maybe my skin will be less dry. :)

How many cycles of super ov have yo udone sue?
