How are you disco? Thinking of you; make sure you are looking after yourself.

Moo I'm hopeless with all growing things, they just die on me. Am going to get some blueberry bushes this year; they can't be too hard, can they? The move sounds good, hope it goes well.

We have 6 chickens now, Dh has spent a couple of weeks building 'chickenopolis' and they seem to be settling in and giving some eggs :) I have to admit I wasn't too sure but it's nice having them clucking around (apart from the first day when I got home to find they escaped and dragged all the soil out of the flower beds!)

Yes, the kids do give you a good laugh but you cry too , esp when one of your good writers when given a prompt about finding a moving statue in the park writes a story based at their house and doesn't mention a statue anywhere Confused

Still no af but feel that she is on her way. Hope everyone is ok

coveredinflour · 15/03/2012 08:39

Oh Disco! How awful! I really hope you're OK. I can't imagine how horrible it must be to go through all that. Thinking of you and hoping a new, healthy, happy BFP comes your way as soon as you're ready to try. :(

coveredinflour · 15/03/2012 08:45

Quick update from me. Like you Lil, my AF was due yesterday (CD 30, although last month she turned up on CD 34 so you never know). DH has gone away for a week today so I did a FRER (extravagant I know) yesterday morning. I thought it would be the most conclusive and wanted to do while DH was around. It was a v decisive bfn.

Still no sign of AF but was v grumpy and emotional yesterday (cried reading the Metro for goodness sake) and think I can feel the beginning of cramps today so am sure she's on her way. :(

Wish she'd just bloody well hurry up so I can put any doubt from my mind and get on with the next cycle.

Sad thread today. Hope everyone's ok.

MooleyWooleyShamaLamaDingDong · 15/03/2012 12:29

Afternoon all.

Disco hope you are doing ok. Thinking of you Thanks

Lil how have you not tested yet??? I have fingers, toes, arms, eyes and legs (yes even my legs) crossed that this is your month. Ooooh chickens, we thought about getting some but our rear yard is just not quite big enough. Am loving chikenopolis :) Can't imagine a blueberry bush being that difficult to maintain. Worst case scenario they wither and die. Give it your best shot.

Flour sorry about the BFN; may just have been too early. Sadly PMS and pg signs are similar if not identical, so too hard to tell what you are experiencing and I don't want to say it's a good sign just in case the witch does show her face. Hope she doesn't.

Have had a very productive meeting this morning and I am feeling tickety boo about it all. Going to see a (hopefully) nice house tonight and I am extremely excited.

Tatty bye for now :)

Rusulka · 15/03/2012 20:38

Hey ladies,

Lil bless that 7 year old. Where on earth did they pick that up? This is what happens when we insist on the use of wow words, lol!
Am v. jealous of your chickens. Would quite enjoy having them clucking away in our garden, but they would totally wreck my just-about-established flower beds and probably eat my 3" high peony.

Moo sounds exciting, all that vegetabling! You are both putting me to shame.

I tried to do some work in the garden today, it being deliciously sunny and all, but after fighting with a bit of bamboo edging where the plum tree roots are (I have to cut the edging short so it'll fit over them), I gave in, uprooted a sapling that was annoying me, did a bit of half-arsed weeding, then pulled my stomach, so sat on the tarp I'd put down and just spent the afternoon doing a puzzle and listening to the birds and the bees buzzing in the blossom above my head.

Was nice and relaxing til MiL came to sit with me and grumbed over her knitting pattern, thereby drowning out both birds and bees. Grar!
Still, 26 more days and she's off to Germany for 2 weeks. Whoop! And then when she gets back, she'll be here a week or so before jetting back to Rio for almost the entirety of May. Then I just have to worry about June, July and August, but I think March into April is the long stretch. Once that's out of the way, at least I know the worst is over. Hopefully.

Disco hope you're ok. x x x

Lilliana · 16/03/2012 07:15

Rusulka that sounds so lovely (barring the MIL). I'm guessing he picked it up from his older brother as he clearly had no clue what it was when he read it to me!

Moo You really are getting on with it! What was the house like? Glad your feeling good about things.

Flour hope you get positive news soon, or at least an answer either way!

Well I caved this am and tested as Dh is on a stag do this weekend and we want to test together. I still can't believe it but up pooped another line!! No squinting / tipping to the light or any other trick that I use to find a line on a bright white stick. Haven't stopped grinning yet. Grin Grin Not sure it's fully sunk in and Dh is trying not to get too carried away yet. We've agreed that we will do a CDB Monday morning when he gets back and get excited then.

Off to be observed (like I care any more!) and ensure that I remain unstressed whatever happens. Grin

Lilliana · 16/03/2012 07:16

Oops clearly I mean a CBD not sure what CDB is! Thats my fingers that have actually started shaking!

JamRagRolyPoly · 16/03/2012 07:31

Congrats Lilliana!! Had a feeling you were! Grin

festiemum · 16/03/2012 07:32

Oh lil! :o :o :o!

That's brilliant,amazing and wonderful news!

Well done you! Thanks xxx

MooleyWooleyShamaLamaDingDong · 16/03/2012 08:30

Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaarrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrggggggggggggghhhhhhhhhhhh LIL fantastic news. Bloody brilliant Grin Grin Grin

Sooooooo pleased for you :) you have actually made my Friday!!!!!!!!!

Rusulka I have a quick DIY question for you. The house we went to see last night is lovely, but it does need a lot of work to get it anywhere near a standard we would be happy with. The ground floor has awful awful carpets and we thought that we would rip them all out and sand the existing floorboards. My questions is, what is the best way to go about this, oh oracle of all that is DIY Grin

The other issue is that we will be renting and obviously we don't want to improve a property that does not belong to us. We are thinking of negotiating with the landlord in that we take the property, keep the rent the same, do all the work ourselves on the proviso that we can purchase the property in around 4-6 years. Does this seem unreasonable? We really want to move back to the area and properties like this rarely come up for rent, as people find them, move in and then never leave.

We are not in a position to buy at the moment, but in 4-6 years we would be. The Landlord at present cannot afford to do the work to the property himself and we don't want to hang around.

Decisions, decisions..................

Rusulka · 16/03/2012 10:00

Lil whoop! (If it makes you feel any better, for years CBD was school geography for 'central business district') Grin
FX for that confirmatory test on Monday!

Moo having gone about it the hard way, I can highly recommend that the quickest, easiest way of doing the floor would be to hire one of those floor sanders & side edgers from a tool hire place... You would need to buy the sanding discs/belts in addition to that, but I can't help thinking it would have been a lot easier and got much better results. They give you instructions I think- you have to go across the floors diagonally to avoid getting a wonky floor- but there are 'how to' things on t'net for that.

You might even find that once you get the carpets up, you just have to lever up the carpet grippers and the floors are fine... how old is the house?

I agree with you on the futility of improving a property which you rent; your idea sounds like a good one! You can but try... Hell, in this economic climate, the landlord may be grateful of the opportunity to have a bit more cash!

What are the kitchen and bathroom like? Does the house have enough bedrooms for any future additions to the family? (or craft/ DIY rooms while you're waiting, lol) Is the garden a decent size?

The oracle has spoken lol...

I got a massive shitty on last night when I went to the loo before bed and smelt smoke- ran round the house in a panic wondering which part of the house was FUCKING WELL ON FIRE only to discover that the neighbours 5 houses down had an epic bonfire in the garden burning whatever the fuck they had been sawing up earlier in the day. The smoke stunk and it was in our house, thanks to the badly-fitting double glazing, so I got hugely on my high horse and fired off an email to the council, and got DH to ring the police AND the council (at about 10 last night).
Normally I'd just get a shitty on about it, but I'm pregnant and the smoke wasn't normal garden waste smoke, there was paint or varnish, or something toxic, and I don't particularly want Peanut getting any of that.
Pregzilla strikes again!!!

What else?
Going out to Bluewater at lunchtime with SiL and MiL so will have a few hours of SiL not wanting particularly to be anywhere near MiL and me having to defuse the situation. SIGH
But at least I get to go in Next and see if I can buy any baby stuff with that £40 voucher I still have... and there's enough Boots points on my card to get a free stripy babygrow... and also I raided DH's wallet while he was in the shower so I have an extra £30 to play with. Grin

Have done myself a list of the ESSENTIALS I am supposed to be buying. It is all very well having dozens of delightful babygrows and seeing little toys everywhere, but without a cot, mattress, bath, or any of the other practical stuff they're not going to be very comfy, lol!

Some of the ladies on my thread have been talking about nub theory- at the 12 week scan the baby has a little nub between it's legs. If the angle of this nub is parallel to their back, or less than 30 degrees, it's a girl. If the angle is greater than 30 degrees, it's a boy. I found this out 2 days after my scan (grump) but looking at the pictures, and analysing the nub, I think it's a girl- which is quite nice because I've thought it was a girl this whole time!
Festie take note! Watch for that nub!

festiemum · 16/03/2012 11:45

Yes! I did the nub thing last time! Thought it was a girl; posted the picture on a nub forum where lots of sonographers hung out and got unanimous girl.... She was indeed a girl, so I think there's definitely something in it!

All this property stuff sounds very exciting. Whereabouts in Liverpool are you looking, moo? I used to live in the pool. My ex/dad of my dcs is a scouser!

Hope everyone's ok today. I only woke up half an hour ago. Feel like I've just come out of a coma. Had a dream I had my scan and it was twins Shock. It would certainly explain the uber sickness and tiredness and 5 months gone tummy I've got! (Jesus, I hope it's not twins.....)

MooleyWooleyShamaLamaDingDong · 16/03/2012 13:07

Thanks Rusulka that is definitely something to chew over. That's of course if the Landlord goes for our proposal. It might all go tits up yet Grin
Sorry that you are being harrassed by your MiL though. Sounds horrendous. I would be getting very angry and demanding my own space (i need my own space a lot). And bad news on the smelly fire neighbours. That's not on at all!!!

Festie we want to move back to Allerton. We lived there for almost 4 years, but the properties we lived in we always for sale (shame that we did not think of what we are doing then!). The first time i think the owners needed a quick sale though because they had moved to Ireland, so our idea probably would not have worked.

Oh crikey twins (i would actually love twins, as I would like 3 DC andn to get two for the price of one so to speak would be marvellous).

I have started spotting!!! YEY!!!! Although I am not pg, it does mean that my cycles are getting shorter (gone from 77 to 63 to a weird 23 and to 55) If we ignore the 23 one (where i actually managed to ov) then the statistics are starting to look quite good.

Hope everyone is having a lovely Friday :)

MooleyWooleyShamaLamaDingDong · 16/03/2012 13:11

Rusulka forgot to answer your questions. The kitchen is huge; the bathroom is bearable but needs upgrading and the garden is on the small side, but we would be in walking distance of 3 parks so can overcome that easily, and it's still big enough for my planting escapades. It's 3 bedrooms, with 2 reception rooms and DH is going to use the second reception room as an office/quiet space which means we have a good sized single for any child we have plus a spare room for guests, so fits in quite well at the moment. Eventually we might be able to convert the loft into another room. :)

festiemum · 16/03/2012 13:16

Ooh Allerton's lovely moo. We lived in Aigburth, just off Lark Lane, and often did our shopping in Allerton! Hope you can get the landlord to agree to your plan. If the place needs sorting, and you're prepared to do it and pay rent in the meantime; it sounds like a a pretty good deal to me!

Yay! To shorter cycles too!

Yes, rusulka - meant to say, the whole in-laws thing sounds like a fricking nightmare to me. You must have the patience of a saint!

festiemum · 16/03/2012 13:18

Hmm, twins would be all well and good if this weren't my Fourth child..... And mine and dh's sixth between us! Shock

Ps: we had better get thinking of names for a new thread soon, this one's nearly full!

MooleyWooleyShamaLamaDingDong · 16/03/2012 13:42

Cor blimey festie that indeed would not be cool.

Yes - need to think of a nice new name. I think we should disembark from the flights and come up with something completely new.

JamRagRolyPoly · 16/03/2012 15:23

Nice to see the thread buzzing again!

disco hope you are ok darling, been thinking of you x

I'm still plodding along in the long tww, about 6dpo I guess. No symptoms so far.

Had my day 21 tests yesterday.

Hope everyone else is ok Smile

Lilliana · 16/03/2012 17:37

Thanks everyone, not feeling all that real yet as apart from boobs like bullets and general tiredness (that is not unusual at this time in the term) I don't feel any different. Have walked round with a big grin on my face all day though.

My question to Rusulka / festie / anyone else who knows is what now? I looked at the ante natal boards and pregnancy boards (what's the difference?) Some people say phone doc, others say doc won't see you and you need to call a midwife (how / where?) God if I'm this baffled at getting pg how am I going to cope with a baby!?!? Think I'll just stay right here :)

Moo a completely new name sounds good but I'm rubbish with things like that. The house sounds great, fx the landlord goes for it. Glad the cycles are getting shorter too. Not long till your appointment now.

Festie oh, hope it's not twins then! Do you have twins in your family?

Rusulka pregzilla Grin I can see I will be like this! Thought today how I shouldn't be carrying all the kids books around - I did it yesterday fgs with no probs. :( about your mil, I could not stick mine for that long!

Jam how long till you get your results? Hope all is ok

coveredinflour · 16/03/2012 18:58

Oh wow Lil! Just landed from a quick trip to geneva and logged on to specifically see if you'd tested. What amazing news! It does happen doesn't it!?

Still no sign of AF for me and am now at end of cd 32 (normally 30ish but last month was 34 so not that late yet). No symptoms but am shattered and weeing for Britain but prob due to a busy week and lots of water!

Plus I did a frer on wed and they're super sensitive and it was a very certain bfn! Sure AF will be here tonight...

Lilliana · 16/03/2012 19:39

Thanks Flour, those were the only symptoms I had and was so sure I wasn't so don't rule it out yet. Fx you get a bfp and we will be due around the same time :)

coveredinflour · 16/03/2012 19:55

Thanks Lil. Think I can feel cramps starting but keep thinking that this week. Am having a small glass of wine to chill out and because don't think I am.

This might be tmi but what do you mean by boobs like bullets? Are they sensitive? Or just more hard and tingly. Mine are a bit like that but not sore at all.

Sorry - feeding the SS monster! Having said that am getting more certain about AF cramps. Definitely feeling more like them!

Lilliana · 16/03/2012 20:24

They feel hard and swollen, sometimes sore but only occasionally.

I kept running to the loo thinking af had arrived - I still probably would be if I hadn't taken a test and had af type cramps.

It is so like af symptoms that I was so sure that I wasn't, I was 3 days late before I tested and that is so unlike me, usually I'm counting down that days until it might be worth testing!

Rusulka · 16/03/2012 22:56

Lil once you've done the CBD, make an appt to see your doctor. They will be distinctly underwhelmed, so don't expect congratulations! They'll give you a due date (feel free to ignore it if it doesn't match up with yours), refer you to the local midwifery team, and you could ask to fill in your maternity exemption form and get the ball rolling on that one.
then it's just a case of sitting back, and waiting for the buggers to get in touch!
Best thing I can suggest is to just carry on as normal, but don't carry anything heavy- tell them you've pulled your back or your stomach over the weekend, and your doctor has advised not lifting anything heavy- even better if you arrange a doctors appt during work time, and then you can come back and say that! All ties in nicely...
You should get an appointment through for a booking in appt with your midwife at around 8-10 weeks, and a date for your 12 week scan.
That's all I know!

Oh, and the boobs should stop feeling like that in a few months- just don't let anyone or anything brush against your bare nipples....

Lilliana · 17/03/2012 10:12

Thanks Rusulka will call the docs on Monday and be prepared for them to be distictly underwhelmed - don't they know this is the most amazing, exciting news of the year?! Grin

How is everyone else? Any news Flour?
