Lil whoop! (If it makes you feel any better, for years CBD was school geography for 'central business district')
FX for that confirmatory test on Monday!
Moo having gone about it the hard way, I can highly recommend that the quickest, easiest way of doing the floor would be to hire one of those floor sanders & side edgers from a tool hire place... You would need to buy the sanding discs/belts in addition to that, but I can't help thinking it would have been a lot easier and got much better results. They give you instructions I think- you have to go across the floors diagonally to avoid getting a wonky floor- but there are 'how to' things on t'net for that.
You might even find that once you get the carpets up, you just have to lever up the carpet grippers and the floors are fine... how old is the house?
I agree with you on the futility of improving a property which you rent; your idea sounds like a good one! You can but try... Hell, in this economic climate, the landlord may be grateful of the opportunity to have a bit more cash!
What are the kitchen and bathroom like? Does the house have enough bedrooms for any future additions to the family? (or craft/ DIY rooms while you're waiting, lol) Is the garden a decent size?
The oracle has spoken lol...
I got a massive shitty on last night when I went to the loo before bed and smelt smoke- ran round the house in a panic wondering which part of the house was FUCKING WELL ON FIRE only to discover that the neighbours 5 houses down had an epic bonfire in the garden burning whatever the fuck they had been sawing up earlier in the day. The smoke stunk and it was in our house, thanks to the badly-fitting double glazing, so I got hugely on my high horse and fired off an email to the council, and got DH to ring the police AND the council (at about 10 last night).
Normally I'd just get a shitty on about it, but I'm pregnant and the smoke wasn't normal garden waste smoke, there was paint or varnish, or something toxic, and I don't particularly want Peanut getting any of that.
Pregzilla strikes again!!!
What else?
Going out to Bluewater at lunchtime with SiL and MiL so will have a few hours of SiL not wanting particularly to be anywhere near MiL and me having to defuse the situation. SIGH
But at least I get to go in Next and see if I can buy any baby stuff with that £40 voucher I still have... and there's enough Boots points on my card to get a free stripy babygrow... and also I raided DH's wallet while he was in the shower so I have an extra £30 to play with.
Have done myself a list of the ESSENTIALS I am supposed to be buying. It is all very well having dozens of delightful babygrows and seeing little toys everywhere, but without a cot, mattress, bath, or any of the other practical stuff they're not going to be very comfy, lol!
Some of the ladies on my thread have been talking about nub theory- at the 12 week scan the baby has a little nub between it's legs. If the angle of this nub is parallel to their back, or less than 30 degrees, it's a girl. If the angle is greater than 30 degrees, it's a boy. I found this out 2 days after my scan (grump) but looking at the pictures, and analysing the nub, I think it's a girl- which is quite nice because I've thought it was a girl this whole time!
Festie take note! Watch for that nub!
