Please someone give me a virtual slap!!!

I need to step away from Google!

Have been looking at various things, mainly OPKs as HPTs (why oh why do i do this!) and that has been very interesting. But I have now been reading about women with PCOS who do not get positives on HPTs until as late as 10 weeks pg. One woman was still getting BFNs up to 23 weeks Shock

Now my brain has gone into overdrive and I am allowing myself to hope again. Could this be what's happening to me???? Or is it more wishful thinking on my part?

Because i just don't know, I am going to act as if pg (so no alcohol, coffee, oily fish etc etc) but at the same time pretend i am not and that the positive OPK was an indication that i need to get down and dirty Wink

DH is picking up some tests for me tonight as i can't get to the shops! If still BFN come Saturday, then next week I am going to my GP.

Discolite · 01/02/2012 13:50

Thanks Festie and Moo, I think the earlier spotting was implantation spotting as it coincided witha temp dip, then a day off, then a bit of brown last night. My period was due yesterday so I am hoping it is a breakthrough bleed. I know my mum had them so maybe i'll be the same. I don.t even know if they'd bother scanning me as i'm only 4 weeks today!

Moo, are you sure you shouldn't test again, say this weekend? (if I were you it would be even earlier but I know you're determined about the false hope thing).

MooleyWooleyShamaLamaDingDong · 01/02/2012 13:55

Disco glad you are not stressing out and yes it does sound like old blood from implantation or breakthrough; apparently the little sac buries itself further and further into the lining which can also produce old blood, so not unusual. I have seen a lot of pg charts with spotting. I can only imagine how scary it can be to see it though! Have you done any further tests? With darker lines it might also help to ease your mind.

Am planning on testing again tonight (or possibly with FMU in the morning). Am i crazy to think that I could be? Sometimes i sit and feel that I am and then have to quickly chastise myself for being so silly Blush

MooleyWooleyShamaLamaDingDong · 01/02/2012 16:40

Guys, i don't think the OPKs will give me an accurate result because apparently with PCOS, LH levels are always higher than normal, giving positive results all the time (weird that I never got a positive before though!).

Oh well back to the drawing board........Hmm

Discolite · 01/02/2012 17:09

Argh Moo I see what you mean but it still doesn't explain your elevated temperatures, hurty boobs and absence of a period. I would still test tomorrow with FMU.

I've stuck up a picture on my profile of all my HPT so far. Matters of interest (only to me probs!) are the definite definite line on the FRER vs the faint line on the IC and the fact that the line has got darker between 5am this morning and 4.30pm this afternoon. The last one is from a different batch of tests but I still hope it's a good sign.

Minimal spotting when I've wiped since 11am, and it's all brown. I suspect I'm going to get quite sore from all the obessive wiping I've been doing Blush not to mention a reputation for constant toilet going at work! My boobs hurt a bit less though and I haven't had the same slight stomach problems today. Good? Bad? Who knows...

Blue that is a very good sign!

Festie glad your DD is feeling better and that you've had a good sleep.

Flour onwards and upwards with next month! But you never know, remember sperm can survive for up to 5 days... Re: the alcohol thing, I gave up totally for the first 4 cycles (no BFP), drank again for the next 2 (no BFP) and gave up for the successful (so far) cycle. So make of that what you will!

Lil keep on temping and SWI! I agree with Festie as long as you are doing it at the same time the ambient temperature shouldn't affect your BBT.

Maisie not all hope is lost yet...

Eagle cutting down can be difficult but hopefully it'll be worth it.

MooleyWooleyShamaLamaDingDong · 01/02/2012 18:38

POAS and BFN! Sooooo, I reckon I maybe possibly ov'ing (doesn't really fit in with the temp rise today but hey, nowt I can do but get on with life.

Starting to think this will never happen! :(

alexeliza · 01/02/2012 21:00

Hi All,
I'm hoping there has been some positive news, but I confess I'm too tired to read through the posts. I have come down with the horrible cold that seems to have gone right through our office...... so feeling really sorry for myself.
I have started taking temps in the morning and there was a noticeable increase this morning - I'm not surprised..... it's not ov, just simply illness!
Hope everyone is otherwise okay.
alex x

Countmyblessings · 01/02/2012 21:10

Hi ladies - i have not been on here daily as i noticed the obsessions to mn at every chance was a bit nutssssss! just passing through to see u all -

Good work Count. Hope it all pays off this month. I had really strong ovulation pains this month which I acted upon and this month turned out to be my month so hope the same goes for you.

Moo I got so excited about your positive OPKs as they do detect HCG. So disappointed that you got a BFN. You know that you only get a strong positive on an OPK for 2 days max so if you are still positive on Friday, I think it's detecting something other than LH that for some reason (PCOS perhaps) the HPT is not detecting. You poor thing; you must be so fed up of all of this uncertainty.

Disco sorry to hear you've been spotting. Hope that's the end of it.

MooleyWooleyShamaLamaDingDong · 02/02/2012 07:18

Whoop whoop Count that is excellent news on the ov'ing; looks like you timed SWI well too so fx'd!!!

Alex sorry that you are not feeling the best. I blame the weather, one minute it's borderline tropical, the next its like we are entering another ice age Grin No positive news for you to see either, but I am sure there will be some soon.

Disco how are things with you today? Hope the spotting has trailed off :)

Dee i got excited thinking I was gearing up to ov, then became hysterical when it might mean something else, and came back down with an almighty crash when i got yet another BFN!!

I woke this morning and decided to POAOS, i know you shouldn't test with FMU but my reasoning behind this was that it should surely be showing negative because it's FMU. So i decided that if it was in fact positive, then I would POAS. Well, I was shocked to see the lines develop and get yet another positive OPK, this time with FMU Shock so i POAS as promised, and nothing....nada.....not even a hint of a line. Cramps have returned as well.

Anyone else tested with FMU and got a positive OPK?? I am starting to think that maybe I just produce too much LH because of the PCOS. I have reset FF to start a new cycle, 26dpo was a little ridiculous and when the spotting started I did have a temp drop, so I have worked it in line with that. Apparently with PCOS cycles can be very short as well as very long. I am not bothered how short or long; i just want to ovulate Angry What chance have i got if I am not even doing that!?!?

Lilliana · 02/02/2012 07:23

So frustrated - left my thermometer at school last night (it ended up in the bottom of my bag somehow - I don't regularly go round temping at school!) so have no clue if I ov'd yesterday and to top it off DH was too tired for swi so we have now had a 2 day gap over the most likely ov time :( I know the little spermies can live for 3 days or more but still would feel much better if there were more of them!!!

Count I'm always thinking like that wrt work! A year off would be lovely. Fx for you this month, it sounds good.

Moo I'm so confused for you - still say get thee to a doc for a blood test and get thee DH to the bedroom for SWI Grin

Disco hope the spotting stops soon, I'm sure all is ok but know you must be worrying.

Alex hope you feel better soon.

Festie I know noo noo (love the term!) testing is supposed to be more accurate but find it weird! No idea why after all the other checks and discussions that go on! Maybe I just need to get over it!

Ohh Blue throwing up sounds good!! Did you test?

Eagle I'm sulking too today, can I join you in the loos?

Maisie any news?

Winnie81 · 02/02/2012 07:26

Morning all,

Moo I think a phone call to the doctors is needed today. At least get an appointment booked for next week and you can always cancel it!
It's better than putting yourself through the whole stress of everything from charting to OPKs and HPTs.

I'm pretty much all better now following my tummy bug, been back to work and now off to Uni today (oh what fun)

Been feeling a little icky and pretty tired but just plodding on! Hope everyone else is well x

MooleyWooleyShamaLamaDingDong · 02/02/2012 07:56

Lil sorry about the thermometer, although I did have a giggle at the thought of you walking round school temping!!! And I am with you on the whole noo noo temping, I just can't bring myself to shove it up there Blush Maybe DTD tonight and hope that you ov today!

Winkly glad you are also feeling better. Have fun at Uni Grin

DTD ourselves last night. Most excellent Grin over in a flash though because i was tired and did not want DH to go anywhere near my tender and sorely boobies, so it was a case of wham, bam, thank you man!!!!

I know that you are all right and that i should get to the quacks, but i just feel like such a fraud. I desperately want this to be it, but I think I know in my heart that I am not pg and drawing it out like this is not going to make me pg, it's just going to make me neurotic and crazy. I think I just need to accept the fact that it didn't happen last month, we missed our chance and I need to get back on it and put more effort in this month. With temping and OPKing and crossing fingers tightly for a temp rise and ov confirmation again, you just never know. Got to make sure that we have timely SWI and hope for the best :)

I just have to tell myself that it will happen, it just might take a little longer than normal.

Bluetinkerbell · 02/02/2012 08:32

No I didn't :)

Moo I POAOS with FMU when I had a peak on CBFM which was positive! so it is possible! :) you are ov'ing!

MooleyWooleyShamaLamaDingDong · 02/02/2012 08:57

Oh Blue you are being very good!!! I cave in far to early; I won't be doing that this month.

I really hope you are right!! I have some mild AF type cramping (no way near as bad as AF.....obviously) could this be ov pains?? I have never had them before (then again, never been looking before) but i thought that they were specific to the ovary which was releasing the egg; mine is all across my lower abdomen and only noticeable because I am looking for a sign......any sign Grin

Bluetinkerbell · 02/02/2012 09:03

I feel very queasy this morning, haven't thrown up (yet), another possibly good sign is losing lots of hair... and feeling warm...

Fx crossed for you Moo get some swi in :)

MooleyWooleyShamaLamaDingDong · 02/02/2012 09:14

Ooooh Blue it does sound very promising; i have not heard of the losing hair and feeling warm though, but anything unusual is good :)

We DTD last night and I plan on engaging DH tonight (will entice him with a nice steak and then jump him :)) and then again tomorrow and Saturday - four days in a row should do it!

Lilliana · 02/02/2012 11:39

Blue you're so good I wouldn't be able to wait any longer with the sickness especially. Not heard about the hair (I though hair loss was after giving birth) but all signs are good Grin

winnie glad your feeling better.

Moo glad the swi is going well, I fed my DH steak last night and look where it got me!!! Am going to jump him tonight and cross all my fingers and toes that it is enough.

I will also remember to take home my thermometer so I can see where we are although if it goes up I'll have no clue if it was today or yesterday and can see that driving me insane. Temping now would be stupid and unhelpful yes?

Must do some work

Bluetinkerbell · 02/02/2012 12:15

I had it in my 2 previous pregnancies too! :) the loosing hair... instead of going all nice and shiny my hair just goes very frizzy and not very pleasant...

I promised DH I will wait till next week to test... Early test are always negative for me anyway.

Thingiebob · 02/02/2012 12:20

I'm in. Not one for flying though.

MooleyWooleyShamaLamaDingDong · 02/02/2012 12:26

Lil I would continue to temp - what if it was neither yesterday or today?? And FF should be able to determine a shift with a missing temp anyway. And if you did ov yesterday or today then you will want to be able to monitor temps in the 2ww!!

I have opted to not cook steak tonight; will save it for the 2ww (if i get there again!)

Well I have been peeing on OPKs like it's some sort of fashion statement. This mornings, definitely positive. Then i took one at 9:30am, definitely negative. Have just taken one now and I am not completely sure whether its a - or a +. I can see why they say to give the full 30 mins to determine a negative. Currently have 10 mins to go. I am thinking negative though. Which would be very good.

How soon after a positive does ov occur again? Not very good with this as never had a positive before Grin

MooleyWooleyShamaLamaDingDong · 02/02/2012 12:29

Welcome aboard Thingie please feel free to add yourself to the stats!

MooleyWooleyShamaLamaDingDong · 02/02/2012 13:05

Ladies: Need a little help, losing it big time with these opks.

Link to pic is HERE

The top 2 are definitely negs but does anyone think that any of the bottom 4 look pos? Considering I have never gotten lines as strong as the bottom 4 before has to be a good think and the fact that the top 2 are def neg also sways in my favour.

I need to get out more..........

Cheers ladies :)

Lilliana · 02/02/2012 13:35

I think they are positive Moo, know it says they should be as dark or darker but mine never are. Apologies for ruining your dinner plans.

I will keep on temping all month (or until I leave for vegas). I kind of hope I haven't ov'd yet as will drive me nuts not knowing exactly which day I ov'd. Temped at midday Blush still in the realms of pre ov temps but I know the time means it can't tell me anything!

Hi thing welcome on board!
