Conception

When's the best time to get pregnant? Use our interactive ovulation calculator to work out when you're most fertile and most likely to conceive.

Those rats are jolly well going to be smacked this cycle and AF shall have arrows, hatred and misery cast upon her! No argument shall be brooked on both points.

Rubbish thread title, apologies.

OP posts:
farfallarocks · 09/01/2012 13:51

Oh no imps that sounds really annoying but I agree being happy in the job is so important and presumably its a new place, exciting and potential to earn more in the future? I only tube it in from zone 2 and even that has gone up to £120 a month for 5 stops!!!

popcorn the high (2 bars) is not automatic, it will be reading a rise in oestrogen. It can sometimes go high very early and stay on high for 7/8 days in my experience. Sometimes this is because of a rogue high reading on say day 7/8 and then once it has given you a high it stays that way until it detects a peak (LH surge) Or it may be that you are going to ovulate a little sooner this month? Stick with it and I am here to answer your questions.

PopcornMouse · 09/01/2012 13:54

stasi I had heard that those are instructions for HCPs - i.e. that, when you take the wee out of the hospital fridge, it needs to warm to room temperature. Straight from your body ramekin is fine :)

Do you have ME or was that a passing comment? I was diagnosed when I was 19 (though I'd been ill since I was 10, on and off), though nowadays it just means lots of early nights and not too much weekend activity - another reason we put off getting pg for so long as we're still not sure how we'll manage the sleeplessness (DH also sleeps for England).

It's lovely that your DH wants you to be a SAHM, am very Envy :o

Is there not enough Vit B and D in the conception pills, then? Confused

PopcornMouse · 09/01/2012 13:55

xpost! Thanks for clearing that up far, I was starting to think I'd wasted £65! Shock I will stick with it and see what tomorrow's peestick looks like :o

Stasi · 09/01/2012 14:14

Pop No, I don't have ME, but I think it's quite common up here. I was trying to think of the vit D things I'd heard about - another one is MS which is again very common here, particularly in the Highlands and Islands.

I've actually been considering moving out of Scotland, there are lots of health problems here, and it's not just the diet/daily life. An immigrant gets all the same incident rates after living here for just 5 years - even though they tend to keep their diet and lifestyle the same as their origin country.

I stopped taking the pg vits, though I should maybe start again. They have iron in them, which (sorry for tmi) turns my poo a bit black. It's a common side effect, but makes me very worried as this can also be because of blood from the intestines, and that's a sign of bowel cancer. Even though I tell myself its just the vits, I get so shaken by it I have to stop them. I figure doctors don't tell you to take a multi-vit, just folic acid, so I should be fine on that.

whimsicalname · 09/01/2012 14:32

Blimey you lot, I'm reeling at your train fares. I could buy a new bike every month for what you all pay. Makes me feel a bit more positive about the hideous inevitable bike commute tomorrow, which I haven't done for a month. First week back always hurts.

NoMaybeAboutIt · 09/01/2012 14:40

Afternoon one and all!!

Stasi how is it being back at work? I honestly can't wait to finish this bloomin PhD and get a proper job. I have been looking today though I know it's too early. I know what I would love to do, but it just isnt practical on the money side of things Sad

And I am sure you will be just fine on the folic acid. I really hope AF isn't making an appearance. Maybe an implantation dip?

Musical I would love to work in Essex too. No more commute Smile I am having a major wobble on the career front these last few days

NoMaybeAboutIt · 09/01/2012 14:44

Sorry Whim I missed you! It's crazy money isn't it. DH and I were talking about after we have the baby (we like to think positive!) about me going back to work. I know my friend who has just had her baby will only come back for the minimum period needed to get her mat leave, as the cost of child care in London is almost the same as her slary Shock

PopcornMouse · 09/01/2012 14:45

I can see why you'd be worried about that stasi. Maybe just take the folic acid and take a "proper" multi vit when you get that BFP? My poo doesn't go black but I swear you could use my neon yellow wee to see in the dark :o

Loopyhasanotherbean · 09/01/2012 14:50

my DP would swop his travel expenses with you lot anyday....it costs him £430 a month for his train ticket, another £80 for tube, another £80 for parking at the station, and then you need to add on petrol and running costs for his car!

Hope to see more of you on the antenatal thread very soon (and agree with imps, maybe sounds like she needs to PIAR soon!!)

NoMaybeAboutIt · 09/01/2012 14:56

Shock Shock Loooopy

whimsicalname · 09/01/2012 15:16

popcorn Me too! I had to stop taking Berocca, they were freaking me out.

Stasi if you have a healthy mixed diet, I'm sure just folic acid is fine. That's mostly what I've done before. I can't totally understand your worry. One of my boys had a congenital bowel disorder which made him loose a lot of blood in his nappy. I've never fed any of them beetroot after that, as I had a heart attack with each nappy change.

Stasi · 09/01/2012 16:24

I've never noticed any wee colour changes, but I think I pay much less attention to it.

The Vit D I bought says to talk to your doctor if you're ttc, pg or breastfeeding. So I shall take them back and look for a lesser dose. These have 500% of my RDA.

The B Vit complex has B1, 2, 3, 6, 12 and folic acid in, as well as 2 things I've not heard of Pantothenic acid and Biotin. All at 100%, so I can maybe stop taking the folic acid. The selenium is 364% RDA. Sigh, why can't it be easy... Neither has a warning about pg though, so they should be fine right?

PopcornMouse · 09/01/2012 16:36

My pregnacare has 300% RDA of Vit D, fyi - so not far off tbh?
Folic acid is 400 mcg, 200% RDA

Linkie

farfallarocks · 09/01/2012 16:45

I am pretty sure pantothenic acid is B5 and Biotin is B7
xx

BeedleTheBard · 09/01/2012 16:46

I wrote a long message and lost it Angry

imps sorry about AF but congratulations on the job, I'm sure the job satisfaction is worth having less money in your pocket

munx hope today went ok fo r you both

stasi I agree, don't worry about the room temperature bit, just pee in the ramekin and dip the stick Grin

I also have neon wee Grin

I'd forgotten how expensive train fares are in England. Public transport is subsidized here, but you still hear suggestions at election time that is should be free, or a flat rate for the entire county ShockShock

I'm away from home tonight, so feeling a bit bored and lonely. And i have to eat dinner alone in the hotel restaurant, anyone want to join me I'm sure it won't take you long to get to Stockholm Hmm

PopcornMouse · 09/01/2012 16:49

Ooo beedle that's harsh. I always used to get room service when I had the sort of job where I'd be home a lot, the boss didn't mind the extra £2.50 because he'd have spent £70 on a bottle of wine . I do wish I could join you, though!

PopcornMouse · 09/01/2012 16:49

*where I'd be away from home a lot

BeedleTheBard · 09/01/2012 16:54

I thought about that but they charge £9 extra for room service, so I'll be brave and take my ipad typethingy to keep me amused Grin I'm fairly certain I'm not allowed alcohol on my expenses though, so no £70 bottles of wine

Imps7 · 09/01/2012 17:22

Evening!

I've got over my silly little mope from earlier - I am in an incredibly fortunate position where I have the pick of two jobs where there are so many solicitors who are struggling to find employment after so many rounds of redundancies. Therefore to complain about anything is self-indulgent and unacceptable. Have slapped self with a large monkfish (it bloody hurt) and am now back to being super excited about my new role!

AF hasn't turned into anything after the initial wipe of fresh blood this morning so am going to count today as 13 DPO and await her onslaught tomorrow. She's done this before, the nasty cow (interestingly enough the last time I had spotting between Ov and AF - can I put this down to 2 near misses now do you think?). Anyway I have my boxing gloves and I'm ready for her - she's not going to know what's hit her

Imps7 · 09/01/2012 17:27

(Hmm, scrap that about today being 13DPO - it's definitely CD1. Why a 12 day luteal phase this cycle? Why???)

beangrower · 09/01/2012 17:42

Hello all! Just wanted to say I haven't forgotten you and am brooking like billio for you all offline - just trying to avoid too much internet activity for personal reasons.

Keep up all the good SWI, Brookers, and keep your rat-smacking tools at the ready.

I'm ABSOLUTELY EFFIN POZ-EEE-TIVE that we will all get up the stick this annum and will have the beautifullest, bonniest babsters ever.

Big hugs. xxxx

Imps7 · 09/01/2012 19:15

Hello Bean! Hope all's well at Bean Towers. No bad thing to spend less time on t'interweb - I could do with wasting spending less time on there.

Okay, advice re: AF please - I've wiped two lots of fresh blood away today - no clots or anything (sorry if you're eating Grin), just watery red blood. Would you call that CD 1 or spotting?

NoMaybeAboutIt · 09/01/2012 19:18

That's the attitude Bean glad you are still here Smile

Imps make sure you hit her extra hard. How dare she mess you around like this Angry

Stasi my folic acid tablets say to 'consult a doctor if pregnant' on the back of them Grin so I wouldn't worry too much.

Beedle give me a few hours and I'm there

SweetieDoesIt · 09/01/2012 19:37

Bean hello my lovely, sooooooo glad you are still with us and very much brooking for all in 2012

Awwww Imps so sorry for AF descending, it was all looking so good for you and you well deserve a moan - hope you ok after the Monkfish slapping too those are big buggers can I also admit I have never had oxtail Blush not too sure I would like it as not into red meat. Enjoy your Wine my dear, bottoms up!!!

Hi Beedle hope you evening away from home is ok, I used to live abroad on expenses and been a tight Northerner made the most of free meals out on my own, used to get quite annoyed when one of my colleagues wanted to join me Confused

I also have neon wee, not sure which of the many vits I am trying for 2012 is causing it but it does make me smile. I think I get a funny tablet taste with the plain folic acid so might try the combined Pregnacare vits when I have finished this lot and am obviously upduffed, brooking no arguments so there

ShockShock at the cost of commuting - OMG really feel for you all having such expensive journeys

Maybe how you feeling this evening, did doing battle into work cure or kill you?

Munx how did you and the LO get on with the nursery situation?

Stasi I have been thinking about you over the Christmas break and the bad winds up in Scotland, glad you had a lovely extended break though

Pop "no likey, no lighty" is the ITV Saturday night show Take Me Out - a particular favorite in the Sweetie household. We open a bottle of wine, get our judgy pants on and basically shout at the TV. It is very therapeutic and much watch TV IMO.

Whims Smegs I spent much of Sherlock hiding behind a cushion asking DH what was happening Sweetie such a scardy cat in a thrown back to my childhood Dr Who watching days Blush

waves to far Generic Olives

BeedleTheBard · 09/01/2012 19:54

imps it sounds like an implantation bleed to me not that I've ever had one but I've googled lots Grin

maybe cancel your trip, there wasn't any calamari or onion rings on the menu, but it was lovely of you to offer to come to escape from the cute but mad puppy to keep me company
