Conception

When's the best time to get pregnant? Use our interactive ovulation calculator to work out when you're most fertile and most likely to conceive.

Those rats are jolly well going to be smacked this cycle and AF shall have arrows, hatred and misery cast upon her! No argument shall be brooked on both points.

Rubbish thread title, apologies.

OP posts:
Munx · 09/01/2012 19:58

I just lost an enormous post I wrote Angry no idea what just happened to it. Stupid iPad. Angry.

So I shall echo all of sweetie's sentiments.

DD nursery went fine, cried on drop off but ultimately had a good day.

Another positive OPK, this is a fine bumper pack as they gave decent results in all previous cycles. So I cracked open another pack to test the theory put forward and this new one was positive too. Hmm and Shock.

I.give.up.

Hope everybody is ok. I guess the SWI must continue. Sigh.

Loopyhasanotherbean · 09/01/2012 20:20

just a quick post, munx would it be worth buying a proper brand opk on this occasion just to see if you are really getting positives or whether it's perhaps a duff batch??

and another one here who watched sherlock and loves take me out. God there are some awful ones on there but it makes it even more watchable Grin

off for tea now

Munx · 09/01/2012 20:32

It's just this cycle that's odd Loopy really not sure what's happening. Not a clue when/if ovulation occurred. But we shall see.

Nice to see you btw, you are positively glowing Grin

So pleased to see bean too.

NoMaybeAboutIt · 09/01/2012 20:54

Oh Munx this is al so confusing Hmm I have no idea what to suggest. Is all that swi taking its toll yet?! Wink

Beedle that's rubbish! No deep fried rings to speak of? That's just not cricket.... I could really have done with getting away from devil pup

Sweetie it killed me. I am so tired. Got in and too pup for long walk, am now making a cauliflower and chick pea curry a la Hugh F-W.

Imps oxtail is yummy. I had never had it till my soup the other day. ong time to cook, but very worth it!

Oh and Grin Sweetie at you and DH shouting at the TV!

Imps7 · 09/01/2012 21:05

Munx what a pain - I would strongly recommend temping if you can - it may give you clearer answers than the pesky OPKs.

Hello Loopy! How are you getting along? Getting much use out of your sparkly vom bucket?

Did you go back too early Maybe? Nothing worse than a work-related relapse. Hope you can have a nice bath and early night tonight and feel a lot better tomorrow.

Oxtail was a total winner - 3 hours in the oven is a long time (and not particularly environmentally friendly) but it's so delish.

NoMaybeAboutIt · 09/01/2012 21:36

So worth it isn't it Imps?

I did go back to early, but my boss hates me enough already without giving him any more ammunition. I am trying to keep myself going Smile

Do you have a slow cooker Imps? i do, but I find things never taste as nice in it compared to the oven Hmm

Imps7 · 09/01/2012 21:47

I would suggest coughing in his face tomorrow Maybe!

I don't have a slow cooker (although my steamer comes with a slow cooking attachment) - I'm not sure I'd trust leaving it on during the day plus I'm not organised enough in the morning to put the ingredients in! I do love slow-cooked things in the oven though. If it falls off the bone I love it!

NoMaybeAboutIt · 09/01/2012 23:12

Ditto, I just think my slow cooker makes things taste a tad watered down. I will cough in his face tomorrow. Either that or et him feel the wrath of my wind..... Grin

ScrambledSmegs · 09/01/2012 23:16

Hello! I'm about to go to bed, so would just like to say - What Sweetie said!

Hi bean

Ooh, promising, Imps! FX for you Grin Oh, and two words re: cooking oxtail - pressure cooker. Cuts cooking time in half, pretty much. Is ossum.

Munx, you are a medical anomaly, and you have me stumped! Maybe you're just gearing up for the most amazingly perfect egg ever?!

Imps7 · 10/01/2012 07:14

Ouch ouch ouch deffo CD 1 today. So what was all that odd CM on 6 DPO and pink and brown CM on 10DPO all about then, eh Hmm? I think I may pencil this in as another near miss (although you would expect AF to be late if that were the case and she is well on time).

So byeeeeeeeeee Cycle 6 and welcome Cycle 7 - I have a feeling that you and I are going to get along just fine.

SweetieDoesIt · 10/01/2012 07:48

Poor Imps I had the same confusion last cycle. I had the funny early CM then spotting from 8DPO right through to a very light AF. I think it is Mother Nature playing tricks conspiring with evil witch AF

Hope you are ok my dear and brooking this is day 1 of you being updiffed

Imps7 · 10/01/2012 07:59

I am definitely putting this down to a near miss - I have 5 spots on my knee. There is no clearer sign.

I am fine thanks Sweetie - had my mope yesterday and am now looking forward to smacketing that rat this cycle - egg should pop at the end of mine and OH's holiday so there will be plenty of time for holiday shags!

PopcornMouse · 10/01/2012 09:21

Hi bean! Totally understand you not wanting to spend so much time on the net. Some days, I can't decide if MN sends me more crazy or makes me feels better?! Confused Blush

Imps I'd call that spotting, especially if it's watery and dilute. Sorry that AF has now turned up Angry

I get the 3-for-2 pregnacare in Boots or Tesco, so it's not too bad. And tbh I think I could use the extra vitamins as I'm often quite hungover run down :o

sweetie I will make a point of watching that on Saturday! :)

Imps where does one in a land devoid of waitroses and proper butchers find oxtail ingredients? And do any of you lovely ladies have a tried and tested recipe for cream of mushroom? I've seen it made with cream and with flour and milk, and I'm not sure which way to go Confused

CBFM still says "high" and this morning the stick's oestrogen line was a teensy bit fainter, so it's not a blip. I must gear up to ov reeeeeally early :o

farfallarocks · 10/01/2012 09:32

Don;t worry about reading the lines pop they can change a lot from one day to the next.

GenericDietCola · 10/01/2012 09:40

Imps and all you other Londoners - I am shocked at the cost of your train fares! They are extortionate - how on earth do you afford all that as well as rent/mortgage etc? I am so glad we live oop north and I commute by car. Diesel is not cheap, but it's a lot better than the cost of a train ticket. And I bet you're jammed on most mornings with nowhere to sit. Yuck. Anyhoo, my dear, glad you can see the silver lining of the new job/more expensive commute thingy - it's better to have a higher salary (even if your expenses are higher) - better maternity pay and if you decide to move, better for your mortgage too. And most of all you will be happier, which counts for such a lot. Damn and blast to AF and how dare she be so painful? But cycle 7 has a lovely ring to it and I'm certain all that holiday shagging will produce a beautiful baby for you in October.

Stasi nice to see you! I read your supplement comments with interest - think I will start a thread on supplements for TTC on the Conception board, so if anyone fancies posting on that feel free so I don't look like a sad loser.

Hello Bean hope you are OK!

Munx glad nursery and work went OK. No idea what to suggest re your crazy OPKs but it can only be a good thing! What cd are you on now? Any chance of a cheapy preg test yet?

Sweetie me and DH love Take Me Out too - Paddy is so funny and all the girls are such tarts!!

Popcorn great that you are getting 'high' readings on the shag dictator already. It must be nice to get some sort of insight into your cycle.

Beedle hope your night away was OK. I travel quite a lot for work too - sometimes it can be nice to have time to yourself to read or whatever, but a lot of the time I just feel lonely and miss DH and DD. Luckily I'm usually only away for a night or two at a time.

Maybe are you feeling any better today?

Hi to Farfalla, Smegs and anyone else.

I went to the GP yesterday and she has signed me off for this week saying that I need to properly rest and recover from the surgery and infection, so this morning DD is at playgroup and I am sitting on the sofa watching crap tv! Hopefully I will be feeling better soon and can start to think about making another baby!

Imps7 · 10/01/2012 10:31

I've just resigned Grin Grin Grin Grin. Man, did that feel goooooooooooooooood!!! Oh happy, happy day Grin!!!!!!!!!

GenericDietCola · 10/01/2012 10:37

Woo hoo - well done Imps!

PopcornMouse · 10/01/2012 10:42

Well done Imps!!!!

NoMaybeAboutIt · 10/01/2012 10:54

Go Imps Go Imps Grin well done you my dear, how long a notice must you work? Sorry you are in pain today, but the resignation must make it feel a tad better Grin

Generic Glad the doctor has signed you off and told you to rest. You will be back to baby-making form in no time at all.

Pop hope you're getting the hang of your fancy new monitor Smile

I am feeling utterly shattered and run down today. I just cried at work while on the phone to DH. I am on the verge of quitting this PhD, as it makes me so so miserable. I am trying to make an appointment with a careers advisor so they can sort my life out [sad

ScrambledSmegs · 10/01/2012 11:19

Is it your boss, Maybe? I seem to recall he's something of a wankspanner, no?

Yay Imps! How long is your notice period, the usual month or have they locked you into something longer?

Generic that's great that you can now relax and recover. Nice GP too!

Pop is that the all-singing, all-dancing, shiney-winey CBFM that you have? Ooh, well jel Envy

CD10, nothing to report, apart from I've upped my dose of B6 to 100mg tablets as the 50mg wasn't doing much good. Hopefully that will push my luteal phase past the 10 day mark.

ScrambledSmegs · 10/01/2012 11:28

And that just reminded me - DH got his SA kit from his GP (a different doctor this time). He told her about my short LP and she told him that LP is fixed at 14 days in every woman, and it's impossible for me to have a short one!

FGS where do these people get their information? How is it possible that my GP has diagnosed me with a luteal phase defect and referred me to a fertility clinic mainly on the strength of that, and yet this other GP has such wildly contrasting advice? Yet another reason why I won't change GP practice to DH's as he keeps suggesting despite the long waits to see Dr Wonderful (not her real name).

NoMaybeAboutIt · 10/01/2012 11:35

It is my boss Smegs I am so utterly miserable here. I don't normally feel like this, I am normally far more positive. But I Love wankspanner. I am going to attempt to use it today Smile

PopcornMouse · 10/01/2012 11:35

Yes I got something similar. According to my woman GP, you always ovulate 14 days after your period, no matter the length of your cycle.

NoMaybeAboutIt · 10/01/2012 11:37

I sometimes question where Doctors are trained Smegs (coming from an ex-medical student, I know some of the training is dubious to say the least Grin I am glad that I have a nice lady GP that I will insist on seeing when if I have to go back.

ScrambledSmegs · 10/01/2012 11:51

Are you in London, Pop?! Maybe you have the same GP as my DH! I really hope so, as otherwise there are at least two of these people out there, giving dodgy advice that many people will believe Sad

I guess part of the problem is that GP's are trained to be a first point of contact and so don't really have depth of training, just the breadth. Still, no reason to give blatantly untrue information to patients!
