Conception

When's the best time to get pregnant? Use our interactive ovulation calculator to work out when you're most fertile and most likely to conceive.

Those rats are jolly well going to be smacked this cycle and AF shall have arrows, hatred and misery cast upon her! No argument shall be brooked on both points.

CD6 apparently (Saturday). I meant to start temping today too but forgot d'oh

They say you need to use a box of 20 for the first cycle, and they must be the same batch number as you can't mix them (something to do with the strength of the dye, so the machine can compare them accurately) - I'm hoping 20 will be enough as that will take me to CD26, and I have been known to ov on CD26 before (though more usually CD18-20)

Confused I might have to skip a few days early on to make sure I've enough? I'm not really sure?? The booklet doesn't really say Confused

PopcornMouse · 05/01/2012 14:20

Has anyone seen bean around MN? Confused

NoMaybeAboutIt · 05/01/2012 14:39

I haven't seen her Pop I was wondering where is she is too. Did she say anything about going away?

That CBFM all sounds very confusing. My ice cream still isn't here

I feel so rough now. I am toying with the idea of going home. DH has said he will make me tea and wrap me in a blanket on the sofa (every girls idea of foreplay, no?) and it is so tempting.....

PopcornMouse · 05/01/2012 14:41

I think she was going to Devon or Cornwall, but only for Crimble. She may have had some internet problems before crimbo too, iirc.

Oh maybe :( do it do it

Munx · 05/01/2012 14:55

Go home Maybe allow yourself to be looked after. Poor poor you.

Pop is there a CBFM thread which could help? I am afraid I know nothing of it's workings, have always been tempted but the fact my cycle can go up to 56 days makes me think it wouldn't work for us.

Is there am online support thing or a phone number?

Munx · 05/01/2012 14:55

Also hoping Bean is OK.

And thinking of the brookers not here xx

PopcornMouse · 05/01/2012 15:05

Munx the CBFM thread is pretty quiet, but I've emailed them to ask the best course of action :)

Munx · 05/01/2012 15:09

Excellent, hope they can help! My pal from uni got pg the first cycle after she bought her Monitor, so I have high hopes for you.

And I ain't brooking no argument

PopcornMouse · 05/01/2012 15:12

Well I'm honestly not sure it'll do anything to help, we SWI pretty regularly so I don't reeeeeally need to know when I ovulate......... but it will appease my OCD nature :o

However I also, hand on heart, would not be surprised to get pg over the next few cycles now that DH has stopped partaking of his, er, special DH time Blush because I can really tell the difference now he's stopped, sorry for the tmi Blush Blush Blush

Right I go away for 5 minutes and there is all this new A Team speak to learn!!

pop I can be your CBFM expert have been using it for months for all the good it has done me

On the first cycle it will ask you 20 sticks normally, it starts on around day 6 and goes until your PEAK day. It will ask you for 2 more sticks after that but here is a tip - you automatically get another peak and then a high reading so you can save those sticks. Then it gets to know you so for example I only get asked for sticks from day 8, I normally get a peak by 14/15 so never use even 10 sticks per cycle. I would not worry too much about using sticks from the same packet, that is the ideal in case there is a slight difference in the batch but it is not a 100% requirement. The good thing about it is that you get some warning of ovulation with the highs (although I get this anyway with EWCM)

First month is a bit confusing but ask me if you have any questions.
p.s. sometimes it does not pick up your peak in the first month but don;t panic, tis normal

PopcornMouse · 05/01/2012 17:06

Ahh amazing far thanks, that's really helpful! So you'd only POAS until you get your first peak, then not bother? Does the "peak" usually come a day or two before you ovulate like on an OPK, so you can get in there in advance so to speak?

(I wonder what it would do on that crazy month where I almost ov'd but didn't - I had EWCM for like 10 days before I finally ov'd. Maybe it would just explode :o )

I saw your news on the other thread - I'm glad your PCOS specialist meeting was positive. I blubbed all over my endo the first time I saw him, poor chap - I bet they get it a lot, especially in fertility. It's great that he's so positive.

farfallarocks · 05/01/2012 17:16

Yes exactly pop but you get even more warning because you gets highs before the peak. The highs come usually come when you get EWCM.
You can get a lot of highs before peak or sometimes just one or two. It takes a few cycles for it to figure you out.

The PCOS specialist was lovely (I blubbed) and he is going to monitor my cycle for a month and do 3 progesterone tests at 5, 7 and 9 dpo to check what is going on. He said he thought the lining at 7.4mm was a bit thin but that we will get a better picture with these scans. He did say to not get hung up about it as for example in Spain they like to see 5mm and the 8mm was for IVF so you have no way of knowing how many people with babies have think linings etc

Depending on what the scan finds he might suggest clomid to boost ovulation.

Most of all he kept on banging on about how I was normal and to stop panicking. He could see I did not share his faith and said to give him 6 months. So I will :)

NoMaybeAboutIt · 05/01/2012 17:18

Oooh, Far I will go over to the other thread and see what happened, but pleased it was all positive Smile

I am home now with tea and a hyper puppy. Am really looking forward to him growing up and being nice and sensible [pigs might fly emoticon]

Thanks for the well wishes Munx
