Conception

When's the best time to get pregnant? Use our interactive ovulation calculator to work out when you're most fertile and most likely to conceive.

Those rats are jolly well going to be smacked this cycle and AF shall have arrows, hatred and misery cast upon her! No argument shall be brooked on both points.

Rubbish thread title, apologies.

NoMaybeAboutIt · 03/01/2012 21:10

Oh Whim I nearly fell off the sofa laughing then Grin

Stasi · 03/01/2012 23:59

Evening all. I'm just on my way to bed, but wanted to check the news for the day, and glad I did!

Congratulations Looooopy!!! You do 'deserve' a BFP, we all do. 2012 will be the Brooking year with a record number of BFPs, I'm sure of it. You're starting the year as we mean to go on!

Generic Thinking of you, hope everything today goes as well as it can.

Munx all that SWI will be worth it when you get a BFP this cycle. Then (if you're anything like my mum) you'll be telling tales round the dinner table to your DCs teenage friends about the night they were conceived "We SWI'd for five days in a row you know!".

Far I wonder where these statistics actually come from. Surely they can't measure the lining of every upduffed woman or those with a failed implantation... I hope the vitamins do the trick, I'm going to invest in some on our next shopping trip.

My day has been uneventful. I'm off work till Monday, but not really taking advantage of the time off. I did however start on the wii fit board. I've had it for over 2 years, but never really used it. Logged in today and it said 'welcome to day 983'. Ooops. Anyway, I hope it'll make me more active, with a few things on it every evening alongside swimming and better diet/vitamins etc.

musicalmrs · 04/01/2012 08:18

Congratulations here too Looopy!

Generic, I hope all went well yesterday -was thinking of you.

Imps, the pink CM sounds very promising! When will you be confirming your BFP? :)

Maybe, I am SOOOOO jealous of your Kitchen Aid! Is it completely and utterly gorgeous? Have you put it through many a test run already?

Munx, very impressed by your SWI efforts. My DH found it tiring when I pushed him to every other day- as did I! - so I am in awe of your effort/energy!

farfalla, glad things are moving on with regard to your tests. 7.3mm for the lining sounds quite good - I mean, it could be a lot further away from 8mm! Hopefully you'll get to talk to a consultant about it soon though.

Stasi, my Wii fit board says similarly mean things when I step on it. Which is probably why I haven't done so for several months. Oops!

Hi to everyone else! One 2012 BFP already - when will the rest of you be confirming yours? :)

PopcornMouse · 04/01/2012 09:14

Congratulations Loopy ! So at least now you know what's been going on with your odd cycle :)

maybe that looks cool, I've never been in a yarn club before ? I'm not good at knitting what they tell me to knit Blush I'm so sorry to hear about your chest, though! What a crapper.

:o Munx

That is so funny whimsy :o Might not be romantic, but it's important to keep it fun!

Well I have had the world's shortest AF. 48 hours, including spotting. And now it's gone. But it was heavy for me so definitely an AF. Hmm
But I am waiting for delivery of my CBFM which I can start using tomorrow, and I brook no argument that I will get pg before I have to do the walk of shame go back to the gp in May.

(A FB aquaintance just announced her fourth pregnancy. I am :( today)

farfallarocks · 04/01/2012 09:22

Morning rat smackers, 4th pregnancy, gahhh!!! 'They' really need to sort out the distribution don't they? Have you done a test? A 48 hr period sounds very odd indeed.

loopy that is great news, congrats. Tips please/what you did this month?

stasi you have inspired me to try and get a bit fitter, I have been lagging behind dramatically I must admit and I think being unfit is contributing to my meh feelings at the moment.

I think they must get the 8mm lining thing from IVF patients as they are very well monitored. I have read it in a few places including the Baby Making Bible, apparently 8mm is the minimum and 10/11mm is ideal. I will ask the consultant about it and also see if there is anything that can be done about it naturally. I am sure accupuncture and diet must help.

whimsy I think a bit of humour during SWI is aboslutely the best way forward

imps you are clearly next to confirm, wey hey

Forgive the chessiness but I read this today and I think its great -
'When we long for life without difficulties, remind us that oaks grow strong in contrary winds and diamonds are made under pressure.'

PopcornMouse · 04/01/2012 09:37

Far I did one at 15dpo which was negative; I could do another tomorrow but it was pretty heavy - not sure anything will have survived that!

That's a nice quote, far. I also like, "nothing of value comes easily" :)

PopcornMouse · 04/01/2012 09:38

(which isn't entirely true, but works for me!!! Wink :o )

PopcornMouse · 04/01/2012 09:59

There are 2 magpies outside nicking our pebbledashing - I wonder what today's good luck will be? Hopefully that my CBFM comes while DH's still in bed :o

Imps7 · 04/01/2012 10:29

Morning all!

Pops, glad AF aka the Implantation Bleed has buggered off nice and early. Although wouldn't it be an excellent ironic BFP if you found an obliging pee stick on the same day that your CBFM arrived? D'YOU HEAR THAT PEE STICKS?? IT WOULD BE EXCELLENT.

Far, the 8mm thing is a bit confusing, isn't it? Maybe it's one of those TTC generalisations that fly about and isn't hard and fast rule. Hopefully the consultatant will shed some further light on it all.

Excellent shagging efforts to Munx and Mr Munx. There is no way the rat is going to escape 5-nights-in-a-row SWI.

I just read this article - surely this isn't the first time that this has happened?? Don't understand why it's news Confused. Not that it's not a nice story of course, I just don't get why it's newsworthy.

No more symptoms here at all - I thought that I was getting a coldsore last night but it hasn't appeared. There's nothing more tedious than a symptom-less 2ww. I'm doubting whether the dodgy CM I had the other day was actually pink tinged or a normal colour. Part of me wishes I'd photographed it Grin

NoMaybeAboutIt · 04/01/2012 10:57

I know what you mean Imps sometimes I wonder why some stories are deemed better than others Hmm

Sorry you are feeling Sad Pop I am too today. Probably just because I am shattered from coughing my guts up all night and am back at work really really wishing I wasn't!

Musical how are you?! How is bump coming along? I will put up a picture of Ade later (the Kitchen Aid, yes, he has a name. Yes it's a he) i luff him. I have only used him once but I thoroughly plan up using him at the weekend. It is just a rubbish time of year cos everyone is 'detoxing' therefore doesn't want cake. I will find a nice healthy-ish recipe though Smile

I like that saying Far. Do you know what though, I even got annoyed at bloody Janine Butcher for being pregnant. Yes, she is fictitous, but I don't care Grin

Stasi I am very jealous of your time off. Well done you for dusting off the Wii though Smile

NoMaybeAboutIt · 04/01/2012 10:58

Oh, and Imps when are you confirming the blindingly obvious? Wink

farfallarocks · 04/01/2012 11:08

Oh maybe you made me larf with Janine Butcher.
I rolled my eyes at DH whilst watching enders last night when she was banging on about her midwife appointment.
Janine is a right caw, why is she preggers and I am not
I mean honestly, I am a woman obsessed.

Right rat smackers we need a bit more brooking no argument don;t we.

Hands round brazil nuts and muffins studded with folic acid

NoMaybeAboutIt · 04/01/2012 11:29

Ooooh, Far you have just come up with the plan for what I can use Ade for! Rat Smacking baking!

All I can think of today is baybees. Fact. Not productive to science.

Imps7 · 04/01/2012 13:09

Ade is a fine name for a gentleman food mixer! I'm sure you'll have a long and happy life together! Hopefully he will cook up something restorative for you - poorly you, being so ill but unable to take antibiotics. I'm allergic to penicillin too and in fact my body seems to reject most drugs - I'm clearly a very delicate little flower.

Where are you in your cycle Maybe?? Sorry I can't remember! AF will officially be late if it hasn't arrived on Thursday 12 Jan, so will test then but in all likeliness will sneakily PIAR before then!

NoMaybeAboutIt · 04/01/2012 13:18

Ah Imps we can be flowers together! I am on CD24, though have been feeling quite strange. Last AF was a tad strange in itself Hmm I have given up trying to second guess my body, so have ordered a bumper pack of 60 cheapies and a new fanjometer so I can wee in ramekins whenever the urge takes me Grin I got some nice new Le Creuset ones for Christmas though, but I mustn't use them. I have promised DH a crumble in them, and don't think he would be best pleased Blush

I am making oxtail soup and a butternut squash and goats cheese soup upon my return to Ade this evening. It's just me, him, Otis and one born every minute tonight as DH is on nights.

I have actually been doing some work (hard to believe some might say) and I have found an experiment in which I must use salmon sperm. I find it wrong that I now see the word sperm and automatically think 'ooh, I wonder if I could use that'. Don't worry folks, I shall not be producing any fishy offspring any time soon Grin

TheLittleFriend · 04/01/2012 13:20

Hi Smackateers!

Hope everyone is well. I don't think I'm going to manage to read back as far as I need to catch up, but i'm intrigued about maybe's gentleman food mixer!

far I'm with you on the annoyance at Janine Butcher. She got a bloody text from her midwife confirming her appointment and she's only been pregnant 5 seconds. I'm sat waiting for a letter giving me an appointment 5 weeks later. The Cow.

I also love the "Diamonds are made under pressure" quote.

Not much to report at my end. I'm 9 weeks now though. Flu jab in half an hour - how exciting Hmm

mwah mwah xx

Imps7 · 04/01/2012 13:23

Arrrrg OBEM!! I'd forgotten that was on! Oh, I love it - gets me in tears every time!

That soup sounds gorgeous! I was taken by the urge to make a quiche last night so I did - we'll have the rest of that tonight methinks.

I got two big beetroot in my veg box yesterday - any nice beetroot recipe ideas? I always get a bit stuck with them - possibly because OH and I are not hugely keen on them and I always get a fright when my wee turns slightly purple

TheLittleFriend · 04/01/2012 13:28

imps this is really yummy. It says baby beetroot, but what's the worst that could happen!?

farfallarocks · 04/01/2012 13:53

hello little, good to hear you are at 9 weeks!!

NoMaybeAboutIt · 04/01/2012 14:05

Little !! Hello!! How time is flying!! I said the same thing to the dog 'who gets a text from their midwife?' Grin

Ooooh, which quiche Imps?

The beetroot tart looks amazing Little Or how about a nice chocolate beetroot cake? Makes it a nice dark purple colour!

PopcornMouse · 04/01/2012 14:08

Imps I like borscht, or potato-beetroot rostis? Or cake :d

Hi little!

NoMaybeAboutIt · 04/01/2012 14:23

Is it just me or is anyone else a little Envy of Implant girl? I think I am just having a down day, but I am very jealous!

Oooh, borsct Pop, yes!

farfallarocks · 04/01/2012 14:27

No maybe and I am afraid I made a rather sarcy comment on it, I think its made up personally. GPs with ultrasound machines? 12 weeks then not 12 weeks? Kicking at 12 weeks?

All designed to torment us TTCers I think

NoMaybeAboutIt · 04/01/2012 14:35

I know, I saw Far Wink Kicking at 12 weeks is ridiculous. And I agree, a GP is far more likely to get you to PIAR and dunk it for you than waste time with a scan Hmm
