No offence Bugs or anyone else by the way.

CaveMum · 12/11/2011 23:02

Where you thinking of going on hols Sunny?

InTheSunshine · 12/11/2011 23:10

Anywhere Cave! I just think SSG & I need a break away from all the shit that's going on with his work and a break from 2 years of trying to win a baybee. We have the week before Christmas off so was looking for a 5 night deal then. But we offered to have everyone over for Christmas day. Which I'm beginning to regret. All suggestions welcome...

CaveMum · 12/11/2011 23:14

I'd highly recommend Venice, but not in the depths of winter! We went a few years ago in mid-September and it was fabulous.

What about a posh spa weekend or similar at one of these "adults only" hotels in the UK? I've always thought they sound like fun.

InTheSunshine · 12/11/2011 23:26

I've been looking at some lovely spa hotels. I'm going to see if I can hunt down a deal next week!

Truffkin · 13/11/2011 00:22

Sorry people are not feeling great, happy to oblige with nekkid jelly wrestling if anyone fancies a distraction.

I have no idea what the quiche thing is trying to achieve either.

I can highly recommend Whatley Manor for spa and good food weekend. Is quite spendy but probably the most indulgent weekend I've ever had.

We have been out since 2pm and TGB is drunk as a skunk, along with my brother. They are quite funny to a point but now I'm finding it a bit bothersome and may take myself off to bed. I can't wait to be the drunk one when he needs to stay sober

KatAndKit · 13/11/2011 09:53

sunny we went to Budapest last year in the autumn for 4 nights and it was ace! Booked it through last minute and it was really cheap. No euro there either so spending money not ridiculous. We had an amazing time. Don't know if it might be too cold in December though. Depends on how much you like winter!

HaveALittleFaithBaby · 13/11/2011 10:31

Were you thinking UK sunny? Lakes would be nice that time of year. Lakes is nice all times of year!
I've stayed here several times. Always lovely and has a spa attached.
There are a couple of cool hotels in the area too, this place looks brilliant.

InTheSunshine · 13/11/2011 12:24

Thanks for suggestions BESH.

Faith am loving the look of the Aphrodite - rooms with private hot tubs? Hell yes!

I figure if we can't afford hot & sunny then we'd be better off staying in the UK and going somewhere remote. Truffers I love Whatley, did an event there a couple of years ago & have always wanted to go back. Did you go the weekend you found out you were diffed?

Is anyone a Mr&Mrs Smith website member? Is it work paying the £20 to join to get good discounts?

Going to my mum's today for Sunday lunch. Can not wait to stuff my face

HaveALittleFaithBaby · 13/11/2011 13:04

We had 6 nights in a cottage in the Lakes for our honeymoon and wanted one night in a posh hotel - Aphrodite was top of my list but they didn't have any vacancies :( I think they had a chocolate room?! Gorgeous area which will have stuff to do - boat trips, aquatarium, train rides etc. I can recommend some great pubs in the area - we go every year!
What is this Mr&MrsSmith you speak of?

MadameBoo · 13/11/2011 14:15

I've read the quiche thing but I find it all bit mystifying. It's not like anyone is ever not 'allowed' (How would you police that anyway?) in, but it is a 30 plus ttc thread for those who have been ttc wih some degree of difficulty and don't go in for 'twee'. Apart from that there are no rules are there?

Sunny! Sunny! Sunny! Have you seen the boobs thread? It turns out I might have a "bigger" bra size that I thought! One poster is suggesting I might need a 28D! GrinGrinGrin. Go there immediately. You will get bigger boobs, I promise!

AuntieDoris · 13/11/2011 15:45

I've not been to one of the Mr & Mrs Smith places but try Alistair Sawdays. We stayed in a lovely place from that website. Gorgeous

Am I the only tenant BESH? I too am well poor, AuntieD

(though this may be because we are paying out £1000 in loan repayments per month. Sigh. Some day that will end. Some day.....)

InTheSunshine · 13/11/2011 16:03

Bugs really not posh, just work in the hotel / events industry so know lots of good websites for deals etc. premier inn's are fine by me but not really conducive to a relaxing weekend to compensate for being a barren.

Mr&Mrs Smith is a 'club' website that does great deals on luffly adult / couple / posh hotels.

Faith pub recommendations always welcome. I'll PM you when we've booked it.

Rie a promise of bigger boobs?! Am off right now to find Fred!

Boo love your summing up of BESH btw Smile

InTheSunshine · 13/11/2011 16:05

Dor missed your post. Will look when I get in. Thanks, not heard of that site!

HaveALittleFaithBaby · 13/11/2011 16:18

New ESH must complete beshionaire too.
Ah we're not posh either. Posh hotel wad paid for by wealthy grandfather many years back. And it was a relatively cheap honeymoon especially compared to ny friend who had three months travelling finishing in Maldives Our second honeymoon will be in the Maldives probably our 25th wedding anniversary!
I left the house! Went to a retail park to debate about tablets/laptops/ipads decisions. I refused to part with hard earned cash. Any thoughts?

Mmm that salad sounds good. I am craving junk food at the moment. Back on healthy eating tomorrow.
We have smart phones and a pc so I'm not convinced we really need a tablet/netbook/laptop. But I want one...

AuntieDoris · 13/11/2011 17:08

We stayed at this bed and breakfast on the way home from a festival. We found it through the Alistair Sawdays site. Gorgeous and cost us about £85 which was more than we would usually pay but it was so worth it. The place just had one double bedroom which looked out over the farmhouse garden and breakfast was to die for. I don't think all the places listed in Sawdays are extortionate but they tend to be absolutely gorgeous!

In other news. I have eaten loads today. Massive pork roast dinner followed by delicious homemade rice pudding. Have just had a swift walk across the beach so I don't feel so guilty!

AuntieDoris · 13/11/2011 17:14

Oh, and I should just say. Most often we stay in Premier Inns, but occasionally we like something more expensive and a bit different. Generally though the PI's do the job!

Truffkin · 13/11/2011 17:28

Yes Sunny we went the weekend I found out about diffage, although was pre-planned so just a nice coincidence. It did not stop me having wine as it was the nicest food and wine combo I'd had in a long time. They also stocked blue Becks, which I was excited about at the time.

We booked through Mr & Mrs Smith (there was an offer last year on MN to join for free but we've paid to continue membership this year) and we've also stayed in the St Moritz in Cornwall, the Kings Arms in Bath and the Covent Garden hotel in London. I often look at what offers they have on and book something that's one a 2-for-1 so we can stay 2 nights but upgrade to a better room (Whatley is on 241 at the moment for members) and I've definitely got Babington House, Lucknam Park and Gidleigh Park on my lust list.

We've had a busy weekend entertaining my bro and his girlfriend who came to stay. We were out late Friday night and last night and we did a lot of walking yesterday in town so I'm cream crackered today. Didn't get up until 11am and by the time I had motivated myself to make a bacon sandwich, wave of the visitors and have a shower (with watching the grand prix in between) it's now half 5! I'm about to watch Strictly from last night and am sending TGB out to get a takeaway as neither of us can be bothered to cook anything. I think I may be indulging in a lie in tomorrow.

Re: technology, we have a macbook pro and I have an iphone (we got rid of our desk top a few months ago and just have an external hard drive to back up the lap top now) but I would also like an ipad. TGB has taken some time to be won round, but is now saying we can get one when they bring out the ipad 3 next year. He is a technology geek so we have games consoles, handheld consoles, various camera / video camera / TV watching tech about our house but so long as I know how to watch Strictly, I'm oblivious to the surround sound stuff really.
