TTC/ pregnancy on Prednisolone or similar part 2

Starting up part 2 of this thread since the old one closed at 1000 posts!

iggi lots of luck for today, hope it's nothing - I know it doesn't help but I know lots of women have spotting and/or bleeding in pregnancy and it still goes ok. Definitely call the EPU, get scanned - it's worth it, honestly, at least you will know one way or another. Virtual hugs coming your way.

free I also started AF properly this morning, so looks like we may be both importuning a friendly witch for a good fertility spell on Hallowe'en? I know exactly what you mean about the scary stuff ... a small part of me was actually sort of relieved when I didn't get a BFP purely because it means I don't have to go through the whole worrying about miscarrying all over again. Bizarre, but there it is.

Thinking of you both Iggi and Comedy x

Thank you too everyone for your congrats. It means a lot. Can't really believe it still, we have never had 2 positive scans in a row. Just need to make it to the illusive 12 weeks! DH and I still scared to raise our hopes this might work.

Sorry to the ladies who have had to join us and have recently suffered a mc. Sending you unmumsnetty hugs Puree & Lemon. As kittens says this thread has been a great source of comfort for us who have been doing the treatment and being able to share in our experiences. I had my second round of Intralipids this morning Coley and it was good. It doesn't hurt and you are there about two and half hours. Gave me the chance to lie down and read a my book which am finding hard to put down now. Have you ladies read The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo and other 2. Such a shame the author then passed away after they were published. He was a truly talented chap.

Puree it is absolutely normal you should find others pregnancy announcements painful. I think I would have run out like a blubbing wreck. I have a close friend who is now 28 weeks and is desperate for me to see her. As selfish and horrible as I feel, I just cannot bring myself to see her whilst I am desperately trying to cling onto a little bean at nearly 9 weeks knowing the next 3 weeks could go any which way.

I would be up for meeting in London, it would be nice to put faces to names that we have followed for some time now. Up to see the in-laws this weekend where I am going to have to pretend not to be green around the gills and the extra chubby chub chub weight I seem to be carrying is a little difficult to conceal :)

iggi999 · 03/11/2011 17:58

Just back - clutching picture of LO, so not what I expected! Haven't had a private scan like that before, giant plasma screen like you're going to watch football, and me lying there with my eyes shut crying until she told me to look! Measuring 10+5, hb fine. (So for today at least) all is well for me.

iggi999 · 03/11/2011 17:59

Oh and a big Thanks for all the handholding from you guys.

Arianrhod · 03/11/2011 18:01

Excellent news iggi!!! At the risk of saying I told you so ... I told you so Wink No, really, I'm so very pleased for you, what a fabulous thing to see. Have yourself a nice large congratulatory cup of tea :)

And ya boo sucks to the rubbish EPU who wouldn't give you a reassuring scan. I sometimes wonder whether the NHS is there to look after people, or just to do as little as they have to. What harm would it have been for them to scan you iggi to reassure you? You shouldn't have had to pay out for a private scan. But still, good news :)

I am quite happy to be in the wrong on this one, Arian!
I do think they shouldve scanned me on nhs for my mental health if nothing else - it's a form of torture to be made to wait!
Next scan - er, Monday, in London!

eurochick · 03/11/2011 18:13

iggi that's excellent news!

Brownie I read the Larsson trilogy this summer and loved it. I think that is a great way to pass the time on the drip!

I'd be happy to meet up with you guys too (work permitting - it has all kicked off a bit here!).

duggs1976 · 03/11/2011 18:51

Amazing news ladies so pleased for you and good news for us all to hear more positives! We need to talk about Kevin - great book for us lot would put u off kids for life. Well written didn't think as much of the film as so many significant parts left out. Tilda Swindon was amazing in her role but a bit odd if u just see film !

Havingkittens · 03/11/2011 19:19

Oh, iggi I'm so thrilled for you. What a massive relief!

I also think that really stinks that the NHS wouldn't scan you. I really hope MN make some progress with their Miscarriage Code of Practice. It makes me so mad that the NHS are considering making Cesarians an option for all pregnant women regardless of there being a genuine need, costing the NHS £800 per woman, but then say they don't have the budget to provide extra scanning facilities so that women who are potentially miscarrying can't be checked out. Don't get me wrong, I do think Cesarians should be made available if there is a genuine need, but not just for the hell of it when money is being held back from things like miscarriage testing/scanning etc.

snoopygirl · 03/11/2011 19:52

Hi all,

Brownie & Free could you help me out with the Intralipids .... I know I have already said this when I joined this post but I have to plan ahead in case otherwise I cannot try to conceive this month. I am going to Florida for Christmas and IF (big IF) I do get a BFP (and yes I know I'm jumping the gun) I will be 8+6 before I would have the second Intralipid drip on 4th Jan.. (Newlife is not open until 4th jan). I go away from 15th Dec to 1st Jan. Got Af today so can work it out now.

Brownie I see you were I think 8+5 did they say anything about being over 8 weeks today before your drip? and I think Free you are also going to US from your previous post and mentioned you will be late with your drip. What are your thoughts on this? OH said to ask Louise at clinic but I just don't want to hear I have to wait to try and conceive until Dec.
Hope you understand what I;m getting at and it's alot of money and heartache if I screw it up. Probably won't get pregnant now ...got this thing about jinxing myself asking premature questions!!

Iggy great news hope you can relax just a little bit. x
Coley Welcome x

ChoccyPud · 03/11/2011 20:49

iggi absolutely delighted for you that's fantastic. Still shocking the nhs wouldn't let you have a scan to set your mind at rest esp with your history.

Ari also great news, get on it!! Wink

ChoccyPud · 03/11/2011 21:01

Sorry, posted before finishing. Total lack of co ordination...

brownie I know what you mean, it's totally normal. I can take family kids, and good friends' babies in small doses but it gets a bit overwhelming after a while. And is much harder with people I'm not close to or where someone's got pg first go and gets the chance to really enjoy it from day one because she hasnt a clue about mcs and The Fear etc. Is selfish to feel like that I guess, but I can't see how I'll ever enjoy a pg or feel remotely secure in it until I'm quite a long way on.

Hope that doesn't sound bitter as I'm not it's just a kind of sigh for what might've been.

Coconutfeet · 03/11/2011 21:25

Iggi - Fantastic news! What a relief for you.

Didn't Comedy have a scan today too or am I confused (quite possible)? Comedy - how are you?

Stogan - I was laughing about you suddenly craving porridge. I've been the same with tinned tomato soup. Haven't eaten any for about 20 years but have had it three times this week. Weird.

Snoopy - I know you don't want to, but I really would check with Louise about the intralipids. When my test result came back as very high, I was told to go and have them done within a week (that was at 7 weeks). It might all be fine and there may be some flexibility, but I would check if it was me. I completely understand what you don't want to wait a month (says the girl who couldn't wait for Mr S's first appointment!), but wouldn't it be awful if it didn't work out because you were a few days late with the treatment.

I'm up for meeting too. I'd be great to put faces to names.

snoopygirl · 03/11/2011 21:44

Hi Coconut

I would have the 4 week one no problem, it's just the 8 week one where I would be over by about 6 days.
Hey how does it feel to be nearly 14 weeks pregnant?

Stogan · 03/11/2011 21:48

Congrats Iggi that's fab news xxxx

OMG coconut I craved tomato soup from I was 14-17 weeks I was having 3 tins a day couldn't get enough of the stuff but now can't look at it, how strange !! I've been told it's a sign im carrying a girl but really don't care Eitherway !! GrinGrin

BrownieGecko · 03/11/2011 22:02

Iggi - That is great news...you must be so chuffed!! Am so happy for you.

Snoopy I had my Intralipids at 5 weeks and then today at 9 weeks. I am sure it varies and not overly sure what criteria they use as to when you need the intralipids to be honest. I was told this was my last a couple of days ago, but then this morning they questioned why I wasn't having another 2 sessions later on? So I am a wee bit confused so have booked another consultation a week on Monday. The best thing as Coconut says is see what they have planned for you and how critical timings are. They seemed quite relaxed with mine.

Choccy it is nice to know we all feel like that and it is ok to. I had a friend tell me his wife was pregnant and he was so excited. I thought he was going to tell me she was 12 wks. She was only 5 wks and he was telling everyone. Luckily everything turned out great and they have a beautiful daughter. It is a far cry from the conversations DH and I have been having about whether we can get away with not telling anyone until 38 weeks (if we get there ) :)

Waves to everyone else

ColeyOz · 03/11/2011 22:21

Hi girls - thanks for your welcome. As this is my first time on Prednisolone, did you find it suppressed pregnancy symptoms during the 2WW?

Also, Dr S said that I should try and test at 10 DPO however I received 2 positive OPKs this month 3 days apart so I'm going to take that from the second OPK positive? I'm not sure if that means that I ovulated twice or I was going to ovulate the first time and it didn't happen for a few days? I'm not one to get an early positive either, even with my daughter.

Another question for snoopygirl - you mentioned the Newlife clinic is closed over Christmas, do you know what dates this is and what we do if we need intralipids around that time?

Comedyworks · 03/11/2011 22:52

Everything ok!! ... I think this treatment really might work! Look forward to catching up with everyone's posts but for now time for bed - OFSTED, three hrs on the M25 and the scan has done me in. Thank you all for being there.

Havingkittens · 03/11/2011 23:06

Hooray! Another good scan today. Great news comedy.

I'm on day 24 of my cycle today and thought AF might have shown up as it has the last 2 months but no sign yet. Typical! The one time I want it to show up, and early. The earlier AF turns up, the sooner I can start TTC and the sooner I can work out when my next trip to France is as I can't go until after I've ovulated!

freelancegirl · 04/11/2011 05:55

Gosh this thread moves fast now there are a lot of us. Can someone update the list? Newbies do add yourselves! And great news for the good scans. It's really lovely to see. Am at a friend's house and didn't go to bed until 1.30am. Woken up by her 18 month old crying at 4am! Why didn't any on you warn me that babies can cry at night! Who knew... Luckily I've got my mobile for MN browsing. Def drank too much for the 2ww last night. And no swi either. Pretty sure I must be post ov by now but no idea! Will carry on when back with dh over weekend just in case. Am very warm though, too hot to sleep and my friend (who came in to have a cuppa with me at 4ish when she saw my light was on, said it's freezing! Based on how I felt last time I was pregnant I don't think I am pregnant yet this month. Don't suppose anyone is awake to entertain me..?

cherrycheeks · 04/11/2011 06:22

Hi free.. Us twins are both awake! I'm up and on my way to work already.. Still haven't had time to read whole thread and remember everyones names etc.. But congrats on good scans. I'm planning a weekend session to read through the epic pred thread.
Can't stay long as about to go on the tube and no signal.

I'm up for a RL meet up too..

Still not sure if I've laid an egg yet or am still egging?
Catch up with you ladies later.

cherrycheeks · 04/11/2011 06:24

Whoops.. Nearly fell down the escalator posting my message.. Maybe that's helped with egg laying

duggs1976 · 04/11/2011 06:44

Morning all Grin we seem to have 8 of us up for a RL meet so far - freelance, arianrhod, eurochick, kittens , cherry and also coconut and brownie and myself - subject to timings etc. Any others welcome!!

How about just plucking a date out and seeing how that works - week night, Saturday daytime not sure what works best so will kick off with Tues 15 nov 7pm central London location - replies pls - and no pressure as long as one other turns up I'd be happy!

For those who too far away from London we could do a posting commentary - I can see webcams and satellite links so people aren't left outWink

snoopygirl · 04/11/2011 07:46

Coley sorry she only gave me the opening date in Jan not sure when they shut for christmas, didn't ask as it didn't affect me as I'm away. Cheryl emailed my back really quick so you could drop her a line. But yes that's my point how critical is the timing of the whole thing?! Suppose I'll have to call Louise just in case.

Stogan · 04/11/2011 07:58

Would love a meet up but would take mr either a 1 hour flight or 5 HR car journey to get there :-( any people a bit further birth on the thread??

Congrats to comedy on the good scan, Yey xx

And happy Friday everyone xx???
