Hey guys!! Have taken the big step of coming of the Pill to TTC another DC. This will be DC number 2 - already have DS who is 15 months old and a DSD who is 7 years. We have spoken about another baby for a while now but it has now become more of a reality now that we have decided to stop using any contraception!! I am so so excited but know all too well about this horrible waiting game of patience which seems to get worse even after a BFP as then it's the painful wait for a 12 week scan!! (although this time I may pay for a private scan) I have had a MC before DS was born so am also aware of not getting to ahead of myself...but I'm so excited nonetheless!! I bought my friend a little present for her brand new (with tags on) baby girl and was so so broody. Cant wait for my turn now!!

Sorry for the long warbling post. This is such a hard time, the pre TTC, the waiting for BFP or BFN etc etc...I am the most impatient person in the world as it is...and to not to be able to tell anyone in RL makes it even harder!!

Hope there will be some ladies in the same boat as me!! Look forward to meeting u and sharing journeys!!

Lots of love, Pip xx

*Better to at least SWI in the 2-3 days before ovulation not after. Sorry, I'm on my phone. Blah.

Grin I was so excited to get my positive OPK. Mine was only positive less than 24 hrs so I'd definitely recommend twice daily testing, despite the once a day official recommendation

Vinolover · 30/10/2011 11:52

Well put fish. DD being conceived on day 25 is a prime example! This is why I am using OPK this time. Ok so I have managed before without them but if my body decideds to be difficult then I want to be prepared! I will be using them twice a day from day 10 next month though just so I can be sure.

Im so glad you explaned the life span of the sperm. I knew they lived up to 5 days or so but i wasn't sure about the amount.

I think we are all a bit more prepared now!

Fishkiss · 30/10/2011 12:00

Yes I just found out about the sperm life fairly recently. It's degenerative, so even after an hour some will have already died. After a day about a fifth have died, etc

CauldronOfBrownJoy · 30/10/2011 12:02

ok I'm going to do twice a day from day 10 too. Its a bit tricky to have so much swi when dp is away for most of the week. I'm trying to always do Monday night and Friday night to try and cover as much of the week as possible Blush

I can see that if OD is on a Thurs or Fri though we're not going to have much chance Sad

Vinolover · 30/10/2011 12:23

Have just ordered 60 (yes 60) Ovulation test strips and a twin pack digi cb preg test for £16 with free next day delivery from Amazon!
I now have plenty of stick to pee on :) Oh, I alswo have 10 left over from my cb OPK. Should keep me going :)

Cheeser · 30/10/2011 12:26

hello everyone... can I join?

TTC number one, never been pregnant before or ever had a "scare" so I've managed to convince myself i'll never get pregnant Hmm

Have been on the pill for about 10 years now - combined pill and most recently the POP - and came off on 9th October and haven't had a bleed yet.

We've only had sex a couple of times - wanted to just 'not not try' for a while - so almost certain nothing will have happened this month.

I'm 29 and DP are getting married in May so I'm now procrastinating over whether to buy a wedding dress now or wait until nearer the time. The dress I have fallen in love with is very unforgiving and will require big diet. Do no chance of wearing it while pregnant. Eeek!

Hi Cheeser, welcome :)
Im sure you are absolutely fine! It will probably take a while for your body to adjust after 10 years so try not to panic. It could however just happen right away. A lot of women have a 'fertility surge' after coming off the pill! Good luck to you.

Good thinking secret. You can't have too much Wink.

Clandy · 30/10/2011 12:58

Hi cheeser!

I am jumping on the opk train and gotta get some ordered! Just got to wait for MIA af and I'm on!!! Makes sense I thought just see how it goes and if not luck after a while then opk but as someone said why wait!

Fishkiss · 30/10/2011 13:02

Once you know the mechanics required it's actually pretty incredible that so many people manage to get the timing just right!!

Despite all my pretty good attempts at AI last week I'm not feeling very positive for some reason. Oh well, 4 more weeks and it all begins again!

Cheeser · 30/10/2011 13:14

Thanks for the welcomes Smile

I was going to add myself to the list but not sure what to put for most of it as I've not technically had AF yet and not sure how long my cycle usually is. I came off the combined pill about 8 months ago and had 3 months off completely, my period came back 28 days after and got straight back into rhythm. Then changed to POP which I took for four months I think and now off everything. Hope it doesn't take long to settle.

It would be really good if I managed to get a due date of July as it would really fit in with work! Blush - that's one way to make sure it won't happen!!

How cheaply can you get OPKs? I am tempted to get some...

Vinolover · 30/10/2011 13:30

Have a look on amazon. I have just managed to get 60 strips for about £10. Really good value and they should last a couple of months or so (depending on how many you use).

Good luck with the timing!

Vinolover · 30/10/2011 13:34

Fish I know what you mean about not feeling positive! We had SWI 3 days before +, that night and 2 days later. I have a sense we completely missed it. Doesn't help that DH really wasn't in the mood on the day of my + so didn't produce too many chappies!
Did you AI on the day of you +?

CauldronOfBrownJoy · 30/10/2011 14:40

another non-positive convinced OD misser here Sad

welcome cheeser!! Make it up!! I did, I went with 28 days from date of last AF, which was 3 days after coming off the pill. I'll amend next month if needed...

oh and I didn't realise AF could take a while to come back after being on the pill! I only need to forget to take the pill for 2 or 3 days and I get AF. Does anyone else have this?

Clandy · 30/10/2011 14:52

Apparently it can takes while around 3 months is quite common as it takes a while for eggs to mature enough to be ready for a baby but I dont entirely believe this as I got pg on the pill Smile and now I have stopped taking it it's been 3 months and nothing so I suppose what I am saying is it can just be wait and see what your body does with is big fat zero help!!!

Clandy · 30/10/2011 14:53

That was meant to be take a while not takes while!!

Vinolover · 30/10/2011 15:23

Amazing how it takes its time when you really don't want it too! It could be that it's fully preparing itself though :)

My cramping is back with a passion... I keep thinking AF has turned up a week early so already im 'knicker checking'! Blush Wouldn't surprise me if I have a short cycle this month.

Cheeser · 30/10/2011 16:21

I have very tender books/nips today, I am convinced AF is on the way. Something's going on at least. I've got cramps too, vinolover.

I have a massive lack of motivation today, I have spent all day on the sofa buggering around on the internet! Blush

Is anyone on twitter? Or just fb? I am on Facebook if anyone wants to befriend me Grin

Cheeser · 30/10/2011 16:22

Whoops i meant boobs, not books. Ha!

Fishkiss · 30/10/2011 16:45

We have a secret Facebook group! Pm wannabe she is the queen there. Grin

vino I have all my fingers crossed that it's implantation cramping you're having. Yea I managed to AI the night of my + but just have the nagging feeling that it didn't work, I worry about having to leave the swimmers out to liquefy for 15 mins, and (TMI alert) my serious lack of CM, or it's the hostile type.

Just not feeling at all like it worked. Trousers tight now from the comfort eating I've been doing Blush

Tomorrow will be fun / awful all at once - I have a 12 hour shift at work!!!! Midnight until 12 noon. Halloween is a HUGE deal over here so I can't choose not to participate. Everyone at work is going to dress up, and that will be fun at least - im taking advantage of my short hair and going as Justin Bieber Grin will put the pics on FB tomorrow when I get back.

Vinolover · 30/10/2011 17:10

Do you get tender boobs before AF is due Cheeser? I get them around O time, which I got this time and stopped wed time and then I usually get them the day before or day of period. I don't usually get cramping this early, or increased appetite (which I have) so im not sure what to think! I am stupidly bloated too, which both DH and I have put down to me over indulging Blush.

fish I had lack of CM too! Strange. I used pre-seed though so hopefully that may have helped. Did you use it at all in the end?

CauldronOfBrownJoy · 30/10/2011 17:15

fish I've just hollowed out 11 pumpkins! We're having a Halloween-fest at school too... Smile

DP is agreeing to using opk's next month Smile Yayyy!

Ok, what is CM and how do you know if you've got it? (I know I'm going to regret asking.... Blush)
