Baby, total stab in the dark but I'd guess so they can compare the results and take and average? I've heard a man's supply can be quite changeable?

I knit and crochet, but tbh they can be difficult to learn without a person to help - you could look in to classes at your local yarn store? Though you can learn most things on YouTube these days :o

BabySade · 11/10/2011 11:09

Maybe!!!!!!!!!! As if we could forget you Grin

We've all missed you. I'm not happy to hear about the spotting though. Glad your GP is doing some tests. We are all blooming in here, as are you of course Wink

Popcorn erm yes that sounds very logical to need two samples to compare. Did I mention im often called a dizzy blond by my friends?!
I think I'll look into doing a course at the local college as I would really like to be able to sew

BabySade · 11/10/2011 11:12

Forgot to say of course we will all be brooking for you Maybe you know it goes without saying Thanks

PopcornMouse · 11/10/2011 11:28

GenericDietCola · 11/10/2011 11:28

Maybe good to see you back! Hope you get on well at the doctor's and we will be brooking no argument for you.

dreamfeeder · 11/10/2011 11:55

yay maybe!!!! what lovely news

Imps7 · 11/10/2011 12:04

Maybe!! You're back!! Hurrah!!!! Grin Grin

Good luck with that there GP appt. Excuse my ignorance but what does the day 3 bloods test test for?

Imps7 · 11/10/2011 12:04

and pops it back on. Was clearly still dizzy from the cartwheels.

possiblemaybebaby · 11/10/2011 12:12

Thanks everyone Smile

Imps it looks at LH and FSH levels I think, to check my ovarian reserve (please correct me if I am wrong oh wise ones).

She thinks I may have an ovulation problem Sad

TheLittleFriend · 11/10/2011 12:32

Hi maybe good to have you back.

Good luck today generic

And happy birthday dizzy!

OP posts:
dreamfeeder · 11/10/2011 12:32

At least she's checking maybe, and she could even be wrong?! Either way you'll know.

farfallarocks · 11/10/2011 12:46

Yo
Day 3 tests your LH and FSH levels. There is normal range but it is also important that they are compared to each other, the ratio shoudl be roughly 1:1

If LH is high it can indicate PCOS. If FSH is high it can mean there is an ovarian reserve problem as you say.

They should also be checking prolactin levels (if this is high it can cause a problem but can be easily sprted I think) and oestrogen levels. You should also ask for a progesterone test 7 DPO to confirm you have in fact ovulated.

farfallarocks · 11/10/2011 12:47

Also maybe if you have been spotting for 16 days it can be quite hard to know when to do the day 3 test? It is really important it is done at the beginning of the cylce or the results will be meaningless.

Good to see you back by the way :)

possiblemaybebaby · 11/10/2011 13:14

Thanks Farfalla I think AF is starting properly today, a proper flow of blood rather than just bits of spotting, so am trying to get an appointment for Thursday.

As far as the progesterone test goes, she hasn't referred me for one yet, as my last 3 cycles have varied so much, so she is waiing to see what happens with these tests first.

From looking at the form, I can't see a request for prolactin, but she is testing my thyroid too.

Thanks for the advice Smile

farfallarocks · 11/10/2011 13:32

Perfect, great she is doing your thyroid too! Good luck

possiblemaybebaby · 11/10/2011 13:37

Thanks Farfalla just told DH and had a bit of a wobble Sad But I will be back to no-brooking in no time, I am sure.

shinyblackgrape · 11/10/2011 13:44

Another lawyer here! Am veeeerrryyyy jealous of anyone who is good at maths. I am good at sums but not maths! DH is very good and I am quite impressed (don't say though as don't want him to get too big headed Grin).

Happy Birthday Dizzy! Thanks Have a piece of half gnawed chocolate too. I insist!

I'm just off to check the rest of the thread. I think I'm getting near to when I can use the OPKs properly (need to read the leaflet again). Proper shagging starts tonight .

CakePigeon · 11/10/2011 14:20

maybe!! hello welcome back Grin hope you're not wobbling too much

popcorn I would love to give you a gander at my chart but I used my real actual name to sign up (stupid me!) and also I have no idea how to do that on my iPhone.. Its all up and down each day though it's totally weird, it looks just like a zig zag pattern. Usually my charts are quite orderly!

shiny are you in London too? And what kind of law?

possiblemaybebaby · 11/10/2011 14:28

Cake! Thank you, feel a bit steadier now Smile

I am thinking of starting temping, if only to get a good idea of what the devil my rubbish body is up to! Any advice lovely ladies? And can anyone recommend a good thermometer?

Ah, I feel better already now I am back in the most fertile place known to woman Grin

Biscuitsandtea · 11/10/2011 14:32

Is it true? Is it true?

Yay!! Grin Maybe is back Grin

We missed you Maybe - glad you've come back and you're still ttc. And good news that the doc is doing those tests for you - 16 days of spotting does not sound like a lot of fun :(

I'm going to blame baby brain for forgetting this but how long have you been ttc?

Hope everyone else is OK too - Poor Farfalla's DH though with all the blood. And thank gd for emergency satsumas (although I think my DH would be a bit disappointed if all he got was a satsuma for being so dramatic - I think he would hope for at least some chocolate. It did, after all work in Harry Potter with the dementors?)

Biscuitsandtea · 11/10/2011 14:35

Maybe I know loads of people on here temp so can tell you more details but I used to use a thermometer and chart from Boots. Not too expensive, an in the mouth one I think to 2dp. Actually sold with all the fertility stuff. And then from what I can work out on here, Fertility Friend seems to be the way to track your chart, plus it allows you to share with other charters.

It sounds like a really good idea though if you're having very variable cycles, and should help if you are trying to identify when to do day 21 bloods?

possiblemaybebaby · 11/10/2011 14:36

Ah, Biscuits so good to see you! How is treat-size coming along?!

We have been TTC for 7 months now, which isn't that long. I wouldn't have gone to the GP just yet if it weren't for the spotting. So bloomin' annoying.

And I agree, my DH would have demanded more than a satsuma. He would have had me lay on a nice little afternoon tea for him Grin

possiblemaybebaby · 11/10/2011 14:39

Brilliant, thanks Biscuits need to pop into boots on the way home anyway, so will have a butcher's.

Oh, and while I was stalking keeping up with you all, someone mentioned a Kitchenaid. Who was it? Cos you have made me insanely jealous, and I have been droppiong hints left right and centre about possiblr birthday and Christmas presents Grin

ScrambledSmegs · 11/10/2011 14:43

Hello! Have been madly busy with work, sorry for going quiet. Maybe!!! Welcome back and I hope your lovely GP can help.

I missed the posts about Farfallas DH. Is he ok? What happened? Lots of blood?!! Shock.

Right, I think tonight is the start of our SWI. I feel knackered though, I'm cycling 20 miles every day (client, not regular journey) and all I want to do in the evenings is crash. DH surprisingly not turned on by the line 'oh, do I have to? Can't you just stick it in while I watch University Challenge?'Blush. Last night was a bust, if you were wondering...

Biscuitsandtea · 11/10/2011 14:43

Ah I think you're absolutely right to get along to the docs when there is something obviously 'odd' there (I hope you don't mind me describing your spotting as odd Confused). I think the year thing is a guide when you're having a normal cycles (which then means you're probably ovulating regularly etc) but I know lots of other people who've been to the docs more quickly than that when they can see there is something odd.

Treat size is coming along nicely I think (although my bump isn't exactly treat size!) I am 16 weeks today which is nice. Have the mw on Thursday so should hopefully get to hear the heartbeat - eek!

I take it you have seen Dream's news if you've been lurking?
