And so it begins again.....

Morning Afternoon all. DD threw up mahoosively in the night, so am knackered. Dumping a screaming toddler in the shower and washing all the vom off, scrubbing the carpets at midnight, then washing all the bed linen and clothing and ourselves that got caught in the crossfire - ah, some of you have all this to come .

Good luck for fannycam, far! I expect your womb is gorgeous, tastefully decorated with beautiful cushions. Just the sort of place that a little bean would enjoy snuggling in Smile.

Maybe Shock. That is a menu and a half. I'll be round in 20 minutes, ok?!

Gotta head out for a playdate now. Will be back to read the thread properly later.

Smegs xxx

Imps7 · 21/10/2011 15:14

Wow, Smegs that sounds delightful! And after such a nice day yesterday too! Poor you and DD.

I can reveal that Ismene = Iz-MEH-nee. Father groaned when I asked him (he had not said her name in the conversation and it was starting to sound bit strange for me to keep referring to her as "her" and "the baby" and "[their DC]'s little sister) and said "god, we're going to get that question a lot aren't we?". Oops! But to be honest, he is going to get that question a lot - it's hardly a common name!!

possiblemaybebaby · 21/10/2011 15:31

Oh Smegs you poor thing. Is little one feeling better now?

Imps at least you got that sorted out Grin Besy she is a gorgeous cuddly little bundle!

Bread is proving, pork marinating, victoria sponge in oven. My oh my, I am feeling domestic today!

Imps7 · 21/10/2011 15:40

Smegs Grin I've just seen your description of Far's womb Grin I quite agree - I daresay it will feature in the next issue of Homes, Gardens & Wombs!

shinyblackgrape · 21/10/2011 16:14

Thank you all - you have made me feel much better. I just feel all over the place and this is only month one!

Today not helped by Ocado man coming at 6:45am (I had ordered for then to be fair!) and handing me bag with an entirely smashed carton of buttermilk so I now can't make the Racheal Allan focaccia I was planning. To add insult to injury, everything else in the bag was covered and Ocado man then zoomed off with out delivering the bag with my chocolate order in!

I've got a horrible sore back too and feel like AF might be coming so hope I'm not getting PMS a week in advance. Poor DH. I really do need to head of to the grip shop and buy one.

I'm all over the place and this is not like me at all. Never mind, only 8 more days to go before AF is due and I can return to normal - either way.

Smegs - I hope DD is feeling a little bit better.

Imps - the job sounds great!

Maybe - the cooking sounds fab. Both my recipe books appeared today so am going to unpack the magimix this weekend for its first grand outing!

I'm off to catch up with everyone else!

farfallarocks · 21/10/2011 16:46

Hi gals thanks for all the brooking!

All good with the scan, no fibroids or anything, lots of follicles there so she thinks good ovarian reserve, normal lining.

One ovary mildly polycystic but I suspected that due to the acne that has plagued me since comng off the pill! She did not thnk it was severe enough to be causing a problem.
So as good as can be hoped for really at this stage.
Some of my other blood clotting have also come back, normal as well.

So only a few remaining.

Ultrasound lady was lovely and patted me on the knee and said, keep trying you will get there at the end :)

Have a great weekend all, sorry I don't have time to catch up on all the posts as dashing off to a hen weekend.

Enjoy all the cooking/SWI!

possiblemaybebaby · 21/10/2011 16:53

Oh Far that is amazing news, the best start to the weekend!! Have a nice glass of vino tonight to celebrate Grin

I love my magimix Shiny enjoy your new books, I want a baking update! Rubbish delivery man though. Does he not realise how important buttermilk and chocolate is?!

Pollykitten · 21/10/2011 16:56

I've just found out I'm diffed up (for the first time in my whole 35.8 years....) am I in the right place? I'm new to this whole thing and pretty new to mumsnet - that was a punt that paid off, lol!

shinyblackgrape · 21/10/2011 17:25

Far - that is fab! The lady sounds lovely and what a relief.

Maybe - will update later. Am going to buy some emergency chocolate en route home. Looking forward to getting back and snuggling in with DH [sick emoticon!]

Think I need a glass of wine to recover my equilibrium. Am currently blinking back tears after reading about a blind dog who is looked after by another dog (with eyes, obviously) who acts as her guide dog. They are both looking for a new home (together, again obviously!). Am wondering about adopting them but DH would actually divorce me if I did that as they are both great danes and we live in a semi-detached house with cream carpets! [hgrin]

scarletfingernail · 21/10/2011 17:29

Fantastic news farfalla what great news to start the weekend.

DrMunkenstein · 21/10/2011 17:42

Excellent news far DH came home about an hour ago Wink

Now need to get ready for dinner out with my Mummy Friends.

Catch you tomorrow.

TheLittleFriend · 21/10/2011 19:19

Far that is fantastic news, I'm so happy for you. And now you can really enjoy your weekend away, hope it's a good one.

Polly you can of course hang out here if you want and congratulations on your pregnancy. Some of us aren't quite there yet though and are still trying, so you might find more advice etc on our graduate antenatal thread here

OP posts:
CakePigeon · 21/10/2011 19:48

shiny hope you're not too upset about the poor doggies!

congrats far! we always knew you had lovely lady bits!

popcorn how are you? When will you be testing again?

hi polly and congrats on your bfp! As little said, the conception bit is really for people who are still ttc - you are lucky enough to have actually conceived Grin so you might be more at home on the ante natal threads - little did a lovely link!

ScrambledSmegs · 21/10/2011 19:53

Ah, brilliant news far. Have a great weekend.

Happy rat-smacking, DrMunk! Nudge nudge, Wink Wink.

DD is absolutely fine, thanks. She just has a tendency to over-eat with her favourites sometimes, and I was so happy that she was enjoying my cottage pie yesterday that I didn't realise she'd eaten almost an adult portion Blush. Little piggy!

Anyway, we had a stay and play this morning, and a playdate this afternoon, so she's definitely fully recovered. I, however, am exhausted. Can't even be arsed to cook, I'll just get a takeaway and watch Nigel Slater [lazy slattern emoticon].

shinyblackgrape · 21/10/2011 19:55

Scarlet - hello! Thank you for the welcome! Very excited to meet a graduate of this parish!

Polly congrats too!

Imps - definitely a pear related thing to make, I think. We have a pear tree in the garden and this year have some pears as the squirrel who used to take a bite out of each one to check if they were ripe, sadly but happily (!) died in a hit and run accident this summer. Am making a pear crumble this weekend but I did see a lovely waitrose recipe online for a pear and chocolate tart which looks fab. Not sure if that would be suitable but can post if you would like. Or just a general pear tart with frangipan would be deeeliiiish!

I'm at home now in my new lovely white company slippers (look like mini uggs!) in my pjs after being revived with a packet of bacon frazzles by DH - I really know how to live!

dreamfeeder · 21/10/2011 21:59

Now look here grapes, after that blase post about ' My DD is never very ill', it totally jinxed me and I found myself doing the GP Visit Of Shame (all mothers do them I've found) this afternoon. For those not yet parents I shall elaborate. You take your child to the GP who looks at you in a 'worried well' kind of way. The child who looked at death's door at home perks up instantly in the waiting room. By the time you go in, they are positively chirpy, beam at the GP, gurgle and babble away (or chat) happily and look the very picture of ruddy good health. You spend less than 2 minutes with said GP.

It wasn't quite that bad today (though I have done the above once- I blame the miracle of calpol) but I was worried. My normally totally energetic litle monster who doesn't sit down all day won't stand or weight bear at all, or eat, is hot with cold extremeties and sat or slept (!!!!) on my lap ALL afternoon. I was so worried it could be meningitis with the lethargy, not wanting to weight bear, sleeping on me (she hasn't done that since a very tiny baby) and cold extremeties when she was clearly running a temp (but I had no thermometer to confirm it) I took her to the GP. Who thought she was fine, just a virus, and wsan't worried she had a temp of 38.3 with freezing hands and feet and wouldn't weight bear. I'm trying to be reassured but I'm still checking her a lot!!! He definitely thought I was a paranoid mother, but did say she looks like her daddy (like I hadn't noticed)- her daddy did his training year at that practice.

ScrambledSmegs · 21/10/2011 23:03

Ooh, pear and chocolate tart, grape. Mmm. Sounds utterly delish! Hope you feel better soon.

Aargh, I hate it when they do that, dream! Hope your DD's feeling better now. Totally agree with you, it's like they know it's the exact perfect time to make a miraculous recovery and simultaneously make you look like a neurotic hysterical parent. BTW I have the 'Signs of Meningitis' checklist memorised and stuck up on my fridge, you can print it off t'internets I think.

We did a panic-dash to a&e once when DD was in a real state earlier this year. She had a serious aversion to light and was very sleepy, but whenever she dropped off she woke again seconds later, wailing pitifully. Turned out it was a v nasty eye infection that could have blinded her in that eye, they were all set to admit her and stick her on IV antibiotics for 24hrs. Luckily in true NHS style the doctor was called away, DD finally fell asleep on me and when the doctor came back just over an hour later DD was awake, giggling and happy Confused. They sent us on our merry way. Kids, eh?!

Biscuitsandtea · 22/10/2011 07:28

Morning preggos Smile

I can't remember if I said yesterday (RL really gets in the way sometimes [hangry]) but yay for Far's test results Smile. What a nice lady doing the scan too. What us still outstanding / the next step now?

Hope everyone else is well. Isn't Generic due back from her hols soon? She's missed all the Ninja excitement Grin

possiblemaybebaby · 22/10/2011 07:39

Morning Biscuits and other preggos

How sre we all today. I don't like being up so early on a Saturday, but we are off to see our pup again.

I have woken up with a cold Sad which made my temperature go up. Am currently sitting wrapped in a blanket watching the hoobs Grin

Your poor little ones Dream and Scrambled I always find when I go to the GP I act more ill Smile

PopcornMouse · 22/10/2011 08:29

Yay far that's excellent news! And what a lovely ultrasoundist (-er?) :)

Shiny I saw that too!!! It was such a cute photo they used too, with his guidedog with his lead in his mouth!! ahhhhhhhh

cake my temp has dropped below my baseline so I think it's all over. AF is due tomorrow and I either spotted through the night or dreamed I did fruitcake but I think, really, I have to start brooking for next month. I'm oddly ok with that - I think I "grieved" when I tested on Thursday. :O)

Pollykitten · 22/10/2011 09:00

Thanks ladies... [puts on hat & gives cheery wave] off to other thread...

DrMunkenstein · 22/10/2011 10:00

Just popping to today good morning, hope everyone is OK today.

We are going to the science centre and later on more Rat Smacking.

Hope to catch you later!

shinyblackgrape · 22/10/2011 10:05

Morning all!

Dream - sorry I jinxed you! Glad DD seems to be feeling better now.

Popcorn - the dogs were so cute. I hope someone with a lovely big farm adopts them.

Scrambled - feeling lots better now. Think just the end of the week and so tired. I am now in the 1ww so getting a bit excited although DH keeps reminding me that it is very, very, very x 1000 unlikely that it works first off etc. I feel fine about that now although about 2 days ago, I felt I couldn't wait to find out. I'm really amazed at how much this can mess with your head or maybe it's just me ! We're going away to York for our annual lead up to Christmas break at the end of November and it would be nice to drink!

Now, back to cooking related matters for those who are interested, I unpacked one of my new global knives today. It wasn't even the bread knife (which I am now thinking of returning) but I used it to cut an un-sliced loaf and it was absolutely amazing! I am so impressed.

Also, just have to name check John Lewis too. I ordered some glasses from them which were delivered to work yesterday and one set were missing. I called them last night at 6:30pm and the missing glasses were delivered this morning at 8:30am. I'm impressed. Christ I'm getting old !

shinyblackgrape · 22/10/2011 10:07

Munk - that's a real day of two halves you've got planned!

Ps - can someone enlighten me as to the rat smacking? Have been wracking brains and wasn't sure what threads to check as a newbie!

shinyblackgrape · 22/10/2011 10:13

Popcorn - sorry, don't know anything about temping but you do never know until AF turns up. Sorry, I don't have anything more informative or profound to contribute. x
