PopcornMouse · 17/10/2011 15:23

Lol @ Ninja and Maybe :o

NinjaChipmunk · 17/10/2011 15:48

I can see myself going round in circles here maybe Grin
DrMunk not due until sometime between weds and fri, just very bored at work!

farfallarocks · 17/10/2011 16:20

Ninja, defo preggers :)

I am feeling really pissed off today about it all having started off all cheery this morning.

Totally understand where everyone is coming from on the pissed off front.
I mean how hard can it be, everyone seems to manage it, waaaiiilll.

scrambled waves, I AM having a daughter called India, that's it, decided

Solars · 17/10/2011 16:54

Ninja: preggo, preggo and doesn't matter what you do as you can blame it on being preggo :)

Farfalla i'm with you on the wailing front too (and India is a lovely name btw, she will be yours!) I think we're all allowed to have a little wail every now and again.

Ok so I have now got myself all excited as I've been watching an item on ebay since yesterday evening and have just put a bid on it, it's still got 4 hours left but i'm really excited now. To be honest I hardly ever buy anything on ebay but I can see how you can get carried away with all the bidding Hmm

Popcorn poor little kids and their bikes, I feel for them as I too had a bike nicked when I was a kid, it's very heartbreaking :(

DrMunkenstein · 17/10/2011 17:29

Quick question, for OPK do you use the sticks straight away or wait twenty mins to allow the wee to settle at room temp?

Totally confused.. Two sets of conflicting instructions.

Solars · 17/10/2011 17:36

DrMunk I used to test straightaway and was never aware you had to possibly wait 20mins. Are those the instructions from the leaflet that come with the opks?

CakePigeon · 17/10/2011 17:37

Great name change dr munk

I have had positives doing both so I reckon it makes no difference whatsoever

PopcornMouse · 17/10/2011 17:38

I've never heard of leaving them, either - I use mine straight away and they seem to work ok?

farfallarocks · 17/10/2011 17:38

Which brand are they? I have never read that you need to wait, I pee straight on them!!

I do have to test twice a day to catch the surge though

shinyblackgrape · 17/10/2011 20:00

Munk - I think I have seen something about waiting 20 mins but that was for the test results. Not sure about the room temperature pee but will check the instructions when I next pop to the loo .

I have the strip ones from Amazon.

DrMunkenstein · 17/10/2011 20:10

I have got two different types, both from Amazon but both cheapies. One set came with the thermometer as an extra.

One set of instructions says to get the wee to room temp? Both say read at ten minutes but thirty to rule out negative results.

I did two tonight, one with the room temp wee one straight away. Both negative but the control line much stronger with the straight away wee.

NinjaChipmunk · 17/10/2011 20:28

i thought it was something to do with drs testing and taking it out of a fridge to get it back up to room temp? Could be completely way off the mark though...

Had dinner, still parping. There better be a reason for all this!

Imps7 · 17/10/2011 20:35

Watching One Born Every Minute. The cute babies! The supportive partners! The excitement and happiness of it all! But they're all so, so young. Someone please slap me out of my wobble that being 31-and-a-quarter is too old to get preggers.

Not sure about wee temperatures. Surely body temperature can't be too hot for OPKs to work? That's massive design fault otherwise.

Brilliant parping Ninja. I swear I can hear them from here!

possiblemaybebaby · 17/10/2011 20:36

Ooooh, I feel a scientific experiment coming on Grin

You are so preggo Ninja

Does anyone know if it is possible to sometimes skip ovulating from one of your ovaries? Only I am starting to get ov signs, nausea, bloating, high cervix and a wee bit of EWCM. Though, if that strange bleed was anything to go by, it is far too early for that. Though if AF had come when she was meant to, then this would be around the right time Hmm

How chilly was it today? I love Autumn Smile

NinjaChipmunk · 17/10/2011 20:43

grabs imps firmly by the shoulders, looks squarely at her, I was 32 when I got pg with ds. Grab that essence of newborn floating in from your tv with both hands and don't let go!

maybe I don't know but I guess that would be the same as an annovulatory(?) cycle? You need Bartlet or someone scientifically qualified to come on and let you know.

Imps7 · 17/10/2011 20:46

Another vote here for Autumn Maybe! My second favourite season after Spring!

I'm sorry that I can be of no use whatsoever re: bleeding and ovaries. Could you be getting AF symptoms rather than Ov ones? Mine can be quite similar. Grrr how irritating for you to have these question marks.

shinyblackgrape · 17/10/2011 20:50

Imps - I am 33 (and a half!). You will have no problem at all as you are much younger than me and I Will Not Have Any Problem Either [hgrin]!

Imps7 · 17/10/2011 21:28

Owwwh . Thanks girls.

PopcornMouse · 18/10/2011 09:36

far I have never thought of POAOPK twice a day (I missed this month's surge, but then I did miss a key day as was in London) - what times of the day do you do it to make sure you catch it? B/c POAOPK before 10am is a no-no isn't it?

Imps you are not too old!!! (ps, tv-related teariness is a blatant pg symptom young lady, you are so upduffed :o ) Though I am only 27 and I'm already getting tutted at by my baby-mad older sister family members for "leaving it so late" Hmm (I actually seriously think DSis thinks we've "left it so late" that we've just decided we're not going to have any Hmm which is infuriating as she was 26 when she had her first - family!! :o )

maybe I had thought it was normal to have an anovulatory cycle once in a while but I might be wrong?

farfallarocks · 18/10/2011 09:40

27 too late Shock
Shock
Shock

Bollocks I say!

I use CBFM in the morning (fmu as per instructions) and I do another one in the evening, around 8pmish on the critical days. I only really need to do it twice a day for 3/4 days to catch the surge.

shinyblackgrape · 18/10/2011 09:43

popcorn - I've done them twice a day too. I had a very faint line on Friday morning and a bright pink line about 6:00pm when I tested again

PopcornMouse · 18/10/2011 10:32

Ooo I shall have to try doing it twice a day next month although I'm blatantly pg so won't need to

Far, I knooow, it drives me potty.

possiblemaybebaby · 18/10/2011 11:38

Morning one and all!

Chilly isn't it!

I can't get into work today, trains are down. Oh no! [sarcastic] So I have been to the gym, put some washing on, and am deciding what to bake!

I am liking all this OPK advice. I get a load free with my thermometer too, which i am hoping will be here tomorrow! I am so looking forward to seeing two lines on a stick!!

27 too late Popcorn Hmm I say we are all in our prime Grin I will be 27 in a few weeks, but luckily no one in my family has any sprogs yet, so no pressure Grin

Thanks for the advice everyone, I was thinking it could be annovulatory too. I was watching embarrassing bodies last night, and there was a girl with PCOS and even DH was saying that I couldn't have any less of the symptoms if I tried. But we shall wait and see.

Now, off to Mary Berry I go....

shinyblackgrape · 18/10/2011 13:07

Afternoon all!

Possible - what a lucky day! What are you/have you been baking?

I'm really trying desparately to diet at the moment but it is NOT working. I have absolutely no will power and I am so cross with myself as I lost so much weight before the wedding and I am going to pile it all on!

DH and I just had a lost weekend - it's just the second weekend that we have had together since we got married (bar honeymoon of course) and it was just fab. However, it did involve a lot of snuggling in front of the tv watching the Sopranos and X Factor, eating and drinking loads and shagging. I just can't get back in to the diet swing at all. It was bloody fab though [hgrin]. DH has suggested one a month from now on at fertile times so I'll be the size of a house if it takes ages to conceive.

All of our wedding presents arrived yesterday from John Lewis and I have lots of lovely baking things and a bright red magimix. It just makes me want to make lots of yummy unhealthy cakes and I have no desire to go to the gym!

I'm currently obsessing now over when I can test and this is just the start of the 2ww! Must. Calm. Down!

shinyblackgrape · 18/10/2011 13:08

popcorn - definitely try twice a day (says the one month veteran!)
