Just found out you are pregnant after a previous miscarriage and too nervous to move over the to pregnancy boards? Freaking out about spotting, cramping, symptoms (or lack there of) and nervously awaiting your first scan? Here is a lovely place for lot's of support, hand holding and problem sharing.

Courtesy of owlbooty here are the Ten Commandments of the Freak Out Room.

  1. Thou shalt check thy knickers to the point of insanity until the baby actually arrives.
  2. Thou shalt also check the loo roll post-wipeage (sorry, gross, I know)
  3. Thou shalt bore thy physician and midwife to tears with the mentalling.
  4. And thy husband/boyfriend/family/neighbour's cat.
  5. Thou shalt obsess over the absence of symptoms.
  6. And the presence of symptoms.
  7. And the fluctuation of symptoms.
  8. Thou shalt pee on a vast number of sticks and keep ClearBlue and First Response in business.
  9. The day before any scan extreme mentalling is permitted without recourse to the Haddock.
10. Self-diagnosis with Dr Google is Forbidden.

The Haddock will be applied liberally to all transgressors.

lime your cravings are exactly the same as mine when I was expecting DS! I think you are team blue! :) I can heartedly recommend chip shop pickled onions, they are scrummy and sour!

LimeFlower · 08/11/2011 12:03

Pie,I was ogling pringles yesterday in the supermarket, but decided against it(my healthy side has spoken to me).I'm not a big fan of meat at the moment, although I don't mind salami.I luuuurve any fish(always preferred fish to meat),cheese(hard and creamy),gherkins, sour cucumbers, fresh cucumbers, yoghurts and fruit(especially grapes).

Started drinking milk sometimes which is very strange as I've never been a fan of milk(drink my tea black,no coffee).Got some watermelon yesterday and a pile of comice pears which ar big, fat, sweet and juicy,4 bags of grapes(2 already eaten) and pink grapefruits.

Got a craving for fizzy in the shop yesterday, what a job to find suitable one.The ones I used to drink ocassionally are no no because of caffeine, chinine and the other stuff.Hate aspartame and all this sugar free crap, managed to get sparkly ribena.Would love to get some dandelion & burdock but don't know if it's safe.I'm very politically correct foodwise with this pg(fussy bugger)Shock

I just want a baby, don't care what flavour, will be very very much loved regardless to gender but I've got this slight gut feeling that I might be team blue (haven't got a clue where it comes from)Grin

Hello everyone. Thank you for all the lovely welcomes! Smile

Twittwoo hope your booking in appointment went well today. Thanks for the morning sickness advice. You're right - it is helping having the distraction of work to take my mind off it. Although it has got better in general over the last couple of days which is freaking me out - I guess there's no pleasing me at the moment and anything about pg is going to cause me to freak out for some reason!

LimeFlower Yay for a good scan! It must have been magical for you, especially seeing such a wriggly little bean. Hope it all goes well when you tell your boss tomorrow. Your cravings sound very healthy - I'm impressed!

Pie I totally agree with you about time going so slowly. It's like I'm in some parallel universe where time goes at a quarter of the normal speed! I think it slows down even further the closer you get to a scan. I asked the dr if there was any chance of an early scan as the mmc just messed with my head so much, I felt my body had totally let me down by hanging on to a failed pregnancy for so long. But she said I needed to have three mcs before they would send me for any early scan! Like you I am having to pay £100 for a private scan at 8 weeks, but if it goes well then I think it will do so much for my peace of mind it'll be worth it. And if it's all gone wrong already at least I'll know sooner than waiting another month. I know there's still a chance it will all go wrong even if it's fine at 8 weeks, but at least I know that I got further than before and I might start to relax enjoy this pg a bit more.

Dachs hope you are having a restful time and have recovered from your stitch. I bet you're counting down the days til your next scan for another look!

I'm feeling quite good over the last couple of days - sickness has eased a lot and I've also had more energy. Trying to enjoy it and not freak out too much about my reduced symptoms, but not altogether succeeding! Still boob-prodding at every opportunity to make sure they're still sore! Grin

Hello all, just wanted to say hi to cat and blacktreacle - congratulations on the BFPs and FX for very smooth PGs and to give ((hugs)) to everyone else...

KnitterNotTwitter · 09/11/2011 12:18

Hey gorgeous people.

Sorry I didn't post yesterday after our 12 week scan but it's all good news. We had the nuchal measurement too and that gave us a 1:2000 chance of Downs so we cancelled the CVS - such a relief. We've started telling parents and close friends - all so exciting.

KatAndKit · 09/11/2011 13:56

Fantastic news knitter and very pleased for you that you don't have to go through the CVS again.

Biscuitsandtea · 09/11/2011 13:58

Great scan Knitter - well done xx

dooscooby · 09/11/2011 15:03

Fishandjam · 09/11/2011 17:02

Can I join you lovely ladies? I've brought cheese and chive scones...

I'm 7 weeks PG after an anembryonic pregnancy in August. (One DS already.) Early scan tomorrow - half terrified, half looking forward to it. I think this pregnancy has an embryo attached because I am sooooooo sick and exhausted, just like I was with DS. With the anembryonic one, no symptoms at all. So wish me luck!

knitter, excellent news on your scan :)

Biscuitsandtea · 09/11/2011 17:24

Hi Fish - congratulations on your BFP and welcome. We're here for all your handholding requirements! May I ask what an anembryonic pregnancy is? Sorry if that's a daft question Blush

And thank you muchly for the cheese and chive scones - they sound absolutely delicious!

Hope everyone else is doing well. 2 sleeps now until my 20 week scan! Still can't believe I've got this far, but still also terrified that it isn't going to be good news on Friday. I've still not felt any movement (and thought I might have done by now as this is DC2?) BUT there was a heartbeat there a fortnight ago so........

My appt isn't until Friday afternoon and then we have to see the consultant and have bloods done etc. Not quite sure what happens when we see the consultant I think it's a standard procedure thing because we're consultant led rather than MW led, so presumably they'll look at why I'm consultant led (DS born 'prem' at 36+6 and third degree tear) and then decide what they want to do with me!

This is of course assuming we get past the scan bit first Confused

Fishandjam · 09/11/2011 19:35

Not a daft question at all biscuits. It's where the fertilised egg doesn't develop properly; so you get an amniotic sac and a yolk, but no embryo/foetus. I think it used to be called a blighted ovum. Oftentimes it's not discovered until the 12 week scan, but I found mine at 7 weeks - ERPC at 8 weeks.

Good luck with your scan on Fri! I'm sure all will be fine if you had a h/b two weeks ago. Maybe your littl'un is facing your spine and so you don't feel anything yet.

LAF77 · 10/11/2011 07:07

Good luck today fishandjam (that would definitely be a strange craving)

biscuits the waiting is agony, you have my sympathy. Your baby could be facing inwards so you may not be feeling anything. At my scan, the baby started kicking out on screen, but I couldn't feel it. I don't always feel movement every day either.

I'm in Cornwall this week and I opted to leave my Doppler at home. I knew DH would be annoyed with me if I brought it. As far as he's concerned, everything is fine now. I wish I could be so carefree. He has been prompting me to buy small things for the baby, but it still feels strange to do.

Biscuitsandtea · 10/11/2011 07:18

Good luck today Fish - keeping everything crossed for you.

LAF thanks - it's actually reassuring to hear someone else not feeling movements all the time. We'll see what they say on Friday. Well done for going a week without your Doppler - you're very brave! I think I would have bought a Doppler this time but the mw's both times have struggled to find the hb, and I'm not confident I could do it on my own Confused. Also DS's hb sounded like a galloping horse so v different to mine and the placenta, but this one just sounds like a faster normal hb, so not as different iyswim.

I have bought one little soft toy for the baby, but only because I was buying 2 things for ds for Christmas and when I got to the till they said they were on 3 for 2 so I had to run back and get something quickly, so I got a little neutral thing which I was thinking maybe ds could give to the baby. This was clearly a very brave moment!! Confused

LAF77 · 10/11/2011 10:20

Yes, biscuits it can be a real struggle to think about the future. We bought a soft toy and a onesie this week. I have 2 soft toys for 2 of the previous pgs, and they sit and remind me all the time of what could have been. DH tells me that I need to start feeling more positive and happy. I'm putting off buying any proper baby clobber, like pram and bed for as long as I can.

I think that sometimes I feel the baby move, it's like having a pinball machine in my stomach, like a ball rolling around inside. Doesn't feel like that every day though. I guess I imagined more specific precise movements.

Hello peeps. I am 30 weeks now and still don't want to join the 'grads' thread Grin until the baby is here!

I had a scan on Tuesday - to check placental blood flow and for re-assurance - all is well and we actually got to see weeny's face in 3D! Amazing! All seems well and there is good blood flow (for some reason I've been worrying about placental blood flow and placental failure lately).

hairylights · 10/11/2011 11:04

oh and big Grin for knitter

Fishandjam · 10/11/2011 12:55

Well, my scan was inconclusive. There's a sac and yolk there, measuring about 6+3 weeks, but no visible embryo. The lovely EPU sonographer said not to panic, it was probably just too early. (And as I sometimes have a 32 day cycle, the measurements make sense.) Back in a fortnight for another scan. Wish I could shake off the feeling that it's all going TU again. (Despite having to carry around one of those cardboard kidney bowls, in case I can't make it to the cludgie in time!)

biscuits and LAF, I know exactly what you mean about not wanting to count chickens. In my family we are really superstitious about buying stuff for babies before they arrive. (The idea of a baby shower fills me with utter horror.) With DS, we had no choice but to get the cot and buggy, but we didn't prepare the room or do anything else until the little chap arrived. (We had literally one packet of babygrows, one packet of nappies, and one packet of vests. DH went down to Mothercare the day after the birth, and basically said "We've had a baby, what do we need?!"

digitalgirl · 10/11/2011 13:02

fishandjam welcome to the Freak Out thread and sorry your scan was inconclusive. If you have a 32 day cycle, it's entirely possible that you could be as much as a week behind dates according to your lmp. With this pg I am measuring over two weeks behind LMP dates because I didn't ovulate till CD30 (would have been a 45 day cycle in not for the bfp). Fingers very tightly crossed that it's just too early to measure the embryo. Do you have another scan for next week?

hairy huge congrats for getting to 30 weeks. That is incredible! You need to think about birth plans and packing hospital bags now!

LAF well done for holidaying without the Doppler, hope you're managing to relax a little.

biscuits good luck with yor scan tomorrow.

confu3ed · 10/11/2011 16:17

Hello Ladies, can I please join you?
I am pregnant, almost 5 weeks and terrified as last 2 have ended in early miscarriage. I am going to an EPU where they sent me for a stupidly early scan on Weds, as I was only 4 1/2 weeks all they could see was what looked like a sac. They did bloods which confirmed a pregnancy of 4-5 weeks and they are repeating them tomorrow so I guess Monday is my next milestone. My progesterone levels are high but I am using pessaries so she said that they would be. I am so scared, checking for blood each time I go to the loo, panicking is I do not get waves of nausea, getting twinges which terrify me. On the plus side I am more tired than I eve was with the past 2 pregnancies which I hope is a good sign! I feel like I am loosing the plot! Trying not to think of this as a pregnancy for a while, at least till I see something on a scan with a heartbeat. OK sorry panic ranting over!!!

Waves to Digi, Laff, Hairy and anyone else I have missed from the RMC thread x

CatAmongstThePoppies · 10/11/2011 21:33

Welcome fishandjam! I'm so sorry to hear your scan was inconclusive, it must be so horrible to not know for definite what's going on. If you have slightly longer cycles and the sonographer thought it could just be too early then that sounds positive. Fingers crossed for good news in 2 weeks at your next scan.

Welcome also to confu3ed. I know what you mean about panicking about every little symptom or lack of symptom. Ttc and pg is certainly an emotional rollercoster, especially after mc. Good news that your early scan and bloods match up to your dates, it must be reassuring.

Knitter fab news on your scan and great nuchal results!

Biscuits good luck for your scan tomorrow. Are you going to find out if it's a boy or a girl?

Hairy that must have been amazing to see your baby's face in 3D!

LAF hope you're enjoying Cornwall and having a lovely, relaxing time!

I'm now counting down the hours until my 8 week scan on Saturday morning. Finding it harder the closer we get to it! Received the forms through today for my booking in appointment but daren't fill them in until after the scan in case it's bad news. I keep veering between being optimistic that everything is fine this time round, and complete panic that it's all gone wrong already. I'll be a wreck by Saturday!
