So sad and tragic barbie Sad terrible disease, robs young lives... My bro was 40, DH asked me out at a mutual friends funeral, who was only 28, 21 is unbelievably young.. Wierdly we took solace from the fact that they didn't have kids left without a father.. Sad Your poor BIL, thoughts with all your family at this time...

cupcakefairy · 08/12/2011 13:12

Afternoon lovelies,
barbie so sorry to hear that, how horrible :( and at Christmas too...hope you're ok

I have a huge pile of ironing to do so gonna crack on, while watching Kirstie's handmade Christmas from last night, get some inspiration! LBM have you seen that 'Christmas foodie gifts' topic on here; I really want to try some stuff like Christmas chutney and Christmas pudding vodka but gonna have to be next year now as it's too late!

VJayJingles · 08/12/2011 20:22

ItsLoueyALotLikeChristmas · 09/12/2011 09:28

Morning, just a quickie from me as I have the hangover from hell, courtesy of my work xmas party last night. Clearly I am a lightweight and its nothing at all to do with the copious amounts of wine I consumed Xmas Wink

barbie Sad I'm so sorry about your BIL's fiancee. Cancer is an awful disease but it seems particularly dreadful when it takes someone who hasn't really had a chance to live Sad

moon so glad you are still lurking and popping in to see us - I have no idea why you would think you are a traitor!!!!! Mad lady. Am hoping and praying that the next time you come in, you will have good news to share with us all.

All you Scottish ladies - hope you managed to get some sleep last night, sounded horrible up there.

Must go, heads banging. Will be back later on if I can think straight.

4everhopeful · 09/12/2011 12:38

BuddhaBellyXmasBaubles · 10/12/2011 20:48

Any predictions for the final ladies?? Smile

cupcakefairy · 11/12/2011 13:46

Buddha Im always wrong about x factor; I thought Marcus should've gone wks ago, & Amelia was miles better than him last night. He'll prob win now & fade to obscurity like Leon, Shane & Joe. Never mind, Amelia will do better not to win judging by history (olly murs, jls, one direction et al)
I'm more of a strictly girl anyway, so hoping for a Jason/Chelsee/Harry final!

4everhopeful · 11/12/2011 15:09

The eternal teenager in me absolutely loves Little Mix!

Took Summer to Bentalls yesterday to see Santa and she got all scared and wouldn't lift her head from being buried in my hair to even look at him! Xmas Confused Xmas Grin

jinglebellsmum · 11/12/2011 20:10

v quick message - barbie so sorry to hear about your bil's fiance. too young by half.
cupcake yes, did see the foodie thread and also liked the vodka idea for next year - mls make the biscuits and put them in the freezer - fudge also freezes.

and finally 4ever i too vouch for the vick trick - works a dream on BB

And finally - a quick rant about my dmil. Just been to visit her for a pre christmas visit. Not an easy task as she is 5 hours away. So, got there late Friday night and had a brief chat, Saturday she was fussing as her other gc's were coming too. When they went at tea time, it was tidy centra. We got the kids off to bed and she then took her self off to the TV room to watch snooker and we were sat in the lounge tiddling our thumbs. Wouldn't mind but didn't even know she liked snooker Xmas Smile. And now DH and I are wondering why on earth we offered to go up for Christmas - I've got to cook as she is too bad but is already setting rules on what I can and can't cook. And deep breath, rant over - the older dc's are very much looking forward to seeing Grandma for christmas and I suppose that is why we are doing it!!

VJayJingles · 11/12/2011 21:10

Hi lbm you never know, the weather may intervene Xmas Smile

bluesatinsantastocking · 11/12/2011 22:30

Sorry LBM but ..."and she then took her self off to the TV room to watch snooker and she doesn't even watch snooker..." has to be the quote of the week Xmas Grin.

What was the issue, she didn't like the house getting messed up? She had had enough of you by tea time Xmas Confused.

Ah, families...

Christmas was officially launched chez blue today and finished off with DH and me watching Scrooged Xmas Smile (X-Factor just passes me by..)

barbie - what heartbreaking news about your BIL fiance x

Should really be in bed but emailing PTAers about our school fayre on Friday - proof reading flyers for school bags tomorrow and pretending I work in advertising and have a copy deadline

ho ho ho

jinglebellsmum · 12/12/2011 23:24

blue I wish I knew what the isssue was and vjay, if the weather did intervene, we will have some explaining to do on Santa's behalf as most of the presents are in the north east now Xmas Grin
Christmas cards half done - hurrah and now to buy a new washer as our died yesterday. Not exactly what I had in mind for Christmas......

4everhopeful · 13/12/2011 10:06

Blue glad to here your Christmas has officially arrived! Xmas Grin I always imagine it being a full on affair at yours! Can't believe your babas 2nd birthday is nearly upon us, seems only yesterday we saw that lovely pic of him under your tree as the best present you could ever have!

Ooh Jbm you sound like you have your work cut out there! Xmas Confused Top up her sherry on frequent occasions and hope the merriment sets in is what id suggest! Xmas Grin Pah to having to buy a new washing machine, why do things break down at this time of year when were already spending a small fortune?!

Vjay helloooo up there, has all your snow gone yet?

Mls & Jbm do you put the vicks on the soles of the feet? Please advise?!

Had a Xmas Confused couple of days with my poorly girl, she hadn't been sleeping well, was off her food (unheard of) and very grizzly and clingy, which i put down to this cough, and perhaps teething her last molars, she certainly wasn't her usual happy little self, she's never been that bad before, but thought she turned a corner on Sunday cos her appetite came back... However nearly midnight she woke up hysterical and screaming and itching her wrists and tummy, which was bright red, when she started at her neck, i just panicked and said to Dh i was considering a trip to A&E and he agreed so we grabbed some stuff together, flung on clothes and DH drove while i held her in the back, but within a few mins of driving she calmed down and started chatting and ooohing out the window! We pulled up outside the hospital and the rashes had gone and she was smiley and happy so we drove home again, but OMG i bricked it, it was awful, never had that kind of worry with her before luckily... She was wide awake til about 3 and up at 7am so i had 3hrs sleep, but she was covered in a rash again, mainly on her legs and feet, so called the docs immediately for an apt, but within half an hour it was gone again! Docs gave her a full check up and after initially thinking tonsilitus, agreed as i have a cough too its a virus, phew, she was really good being checked but didn't like him looking in her mouth and as she got grizzly the rash came up again in front of him thankfully, so he could determine there and then its very common to get a rash with a virus, double phew! I'm sure all you mums of 2+ are nodding your heads knowingly, but panicky first time mummy here was in a bit of a palava!

barbiecaughtkissingsanta · 13/12/2011 15:45

Hi girls, I'm here...all be it briefly.

Still no news from bil, so fingers crossed she holds on for at least one last Christmas together.

Just had 31/ 32 week check and a major scare when the doctor took over 30 seconds to find a heart beat Xmas Shock how I didn't freak out more than I did I will never know. Seems Henry (yes, that's our new decided name) is still footling breech and snuggled up facing my spine and very happy in all the fluid, too happy and chilled to let us know his is ok it seems Xmas Hmm anyway all is well, major scan coming up on 21st. We are going to go to the fetal medicine place for definite answers on the band. Also this was about the time dollies growth tailed off so that will be checked too.

4ever, you poor, poor love. I can sympathsis with you...very nearly made the very same trip to a&e a few times. Freak out central here! Glad to hear its nothing sinister and hopefully the gorgeous little one will be back to her normal self soon enough.

I will catch up more tomorrow, big love to you all xxx

4everhopeful · 14/12/2011 12:20

Hello barbie really glad to hear all is well, your little boys gonna be here before you know it! Love the name Henry, know you mentioned Hugo too, and I've told you before I'm sure that my 21yr old nephew is Henry Hugo, Harry for short! He's coming to the end of his uni degree so its held him in good stead! Xmas Grin Great taste in names you have sweetie!

Very quiet on here, hope everyones enjoying planning their festivities?!

4everhopeful · 15/12/2011 09:22

I'm hoping that some of you will come back to our deserted ship to give me some advise please?!

I had a very distressed inconsolable baby again from 12-1am last night, am now thinking/hoping its teething, she's been picking/off her food and drink, occasional cries when eating, had the runs too and generally grizzly, the cough itself is sporadic and don't think it could cause that much distress... After waking up screaming uncontrollably last night, just like sunday night, finally after calpol and a few distraction tactic episodes of ben and holly she was right as rain jumping on the bed laughing out loud at gaston the ladybird and wide awake til 3am after the dvd finished!

I'm thinking the way these episodes are spread out its gotta be teething? Only other times she's woken so distressed like that.. Think its her very last molars but she won't let me look.. Her last molars arrival induced a complete personality transplant and various difficulties much like now, so much so i wondered about autism, it was the wk of my mc too, but they poked through and she was back to her happy self..

What experiences do you all have? Do you think my theory could be correct, I'm reassured by her seeing the doc on monday and nothing untoward being immediately obvious, but also worried i might be thinking its teething and missing something else?! Confused Sorry for the huge post Blush

barbiecaughtkissingsanta · 15/12/2011 11:47

Dolly is cutting her last teeth too, we have had 3am wakings, crying, clinging to me, a temp and a nasty bum! The doctor said they have constant ache in their gums but every now and then they will get a sharp pain which causes them the most distress. I think it's teething for both our little ones. The back ones tend to take longer coming through which is a pita. Try nurofen and then calpol Inbetween

VJayJingles · 15/12/2011 12:02

Light bulb moment!!! Ajay has been so clingy the last couple of weeks and your posts, 4ever and barbie have made me realise it could be teething!

4everhopeful · 15/12/2011 12:23

Thanks girls, I'm really thinking its gotta be teething, it was a lightbulb moment for me too, cos a mild occasional coughing virus that I've got too, can no way cause this much grizzliness, messed up appetite and horrible distressed outbursts of obvious pain amd upset ...?! Poor babies, its just heartbreaking.. I'm gonna try my damndest to get a look in her mouth later so i know for sure.. Thank god its the last ones..!

VJayJingles · 15/12/2011 12:34

I'm going to try and look in ajays mouth too, wish me luck Xmas Grin
