ooooh, late you are very patient waiting so long to test!! must be a BFP...we are well overdue a few more on this thread!

shiny 33 is not too old. I am 35 now, i was 33 and 4 1/2 months when i conceived DS - had been on the pill for years, came off them, and expected it to take ages, but fell pregnant literally the first time we did the deed. And i know because it was valentines night, and DP was working away in Feb, so it was the only night we had sex in that cycle. And it was just the once. Luckily i decided that from the moment we were trying, i would take folic acid "just in case", not eat dippy eggs or rare steak "just in case" and stop drinking "just in case"....well by March 9th i was glad to have done these things, as that was when we got our BFP. And technically, in DP's eyes we weren't trying, we were "not not trying" lol....so it came as a shock to him as he thought he'd have at least a year to get used to us getting pregnant, not just one month :)

I know it takes some people a lot longer, and i'm not trying to boast, but just to give you another perspective, that it can happen quickly for some people and we were one of the lucky ones, but we weren't alone. From our antenatal group of 8, 1 couple had been trying for 16 years, 1 for 2 years, 1 hadn't been trying, and of the other 5, 4 had happened very quickly in one or two cycles, and i think the 5th had been about 6 months. And all of us were in our 30's.

However, won't be as quick as i'd like second time around as i'm still BF'ing DS and AF's not returned as yet, so not yet in the running to claim another BFP, but lurking here in the hope rat smacking is infectious ;)

(although i did manage to cut him down to 2 feeds instead of 3 today so trying to be optimistic that this might kick start my AF's again)

GenericDietCola · 07/10/2011 20:17

Hi Shiny welcome and congratulations on your as yet unconfirmed pregnancy. 33 is the perfect age for your first baby

Dizzy it all sounds very stressful for you and I hope your landlord does the decent thing. Since you signed a 6 month contract, they are breaking that by asking you to move out before the end of the contract, so you should have some grounds for negotiation. Perhaps they will agree to do the inspection before you move out and pay you the deposit quickly so you can use it towards your new place. You're right, though, you're in ironic BFP territory so look out for that!

Ooh Popcorn yay re EWCM! Get rat smacking girl!

Dream I really hope you feel better soon, it sounds very nasty, especially with a demanding baby to look after as well.

Scrambled glad you're feeling better. I had a big shopping spree this month too and it certainly cheered me up. What are the Lily Lolo testers? Something to do with TTC?

Late I will be looking out for your BFP. Don't worry about hogging, you are just as preggo as the rest of us.

Right, so I had my scan and it was Good News! They are convinced (and so am I) that it is adenomyosis with an adenomyoma (not cancer, phew!). The ultrasound man who scanned me was an expert in the condition, having done his Masters thesis on the subject, so he told me all about it and reassured me that it won't affect TTC. Also, the adenomyoma is in the muscle surrounding my uterus and not protruding into my uterus (as previously imagined) so it shouldn't affect miniCola implanting. Sooo, I am good to go for some serious rat smacking this month. Am very, very happy and hopeful that I'll be preggo sometime soon. By the way, he said there is a 30% chance of conception with each cycle and most couples conceive within a year if both partners are less than 32. At my great age, it could take a bit longer so he said not to worry until we have been trying for 18 months. This seems to contradict other things I have heard about only waiting 6 months if you're over 35, but in a way it takes the pressure off because I think there is an expectation that it should happen quite quickly.

Biscuitsandtea · 07/10/2011 20:21

Oh that is good news Generic - see you have a Wonderful Womb just like we thought :) And lucky you getting an actual specialist in your condition - what are the chances eh?

So glad you can get on with some serious rat smacking now. Have you laid your egg yet this month? How many months have you been trying for? Nice that he said not to worry if it takes a bit longer although given how long referrals take to go through I might be tempted to get the ball rolling after less than 18 months, not that you'll need it because you are so obviously going to get pregnant this very cycle, i won't have it any other way!

GenericDietCola · 07/10/2011 20:25

Thanks Biscuits yes all our wombs are fabulous!

Not laid egg yet, I'm on day 7 so we're in with a good chance this month. We started trying for #2 in January, got pregnant straight away, miscarriage in April, so only 6 months really although about 2 of those months were ruined due to my sudden mega-bleed, which lasted 5 weeks. I think it's just taken a long time for my body to recover from the last mc and I probably had adenomyosis all along, just didn't know. I do agree with you re seeking help and I will be doing in the unlikely event that I am not knocked up in 6 months' time!

Biscuitsandtea · 07/10/2011 20:27

Good girl Generic :)

Now stop dilly dallying and go and smack some rats Wink

GenericDietCola · 07/10/2011 20:31
ScrambledSmegs · 07/10/2011 20:38

Yay for Good News, Generic. Very reassuring that the ultrasound man was an expert, you must be relieved. Also, I've heard that underlying stress can affect fertility, and when the worry lifts your chances improve a great deal. So go smack that rat!

Haha! A fanjometer is my personal description of a basal body thermometer, used for taking temperatures, err, fanjoly... Blush TTC paraphenalia, don't you just love it?

And Lily Lolo is a wonderful mineral makeup brand. I bought a small selection of foundation testers and a mini brush, and tried it out today along with my Big Hair. I am swishy of hair and flawless of face. Yes, really! Just need some Sex Pants?.

GenericDietCola · 07/10/2011 20:40

Oh forgot to say it would be The Worst Possible Timing if it happened this month because I am going away for a big conference with work in early November, during which I will be expected to get drunk with entertain clients and it will be very hard to hide my not drinking.

Still, what a lovely problem to have.

GenericDietCola · 07/10/2011 20:41

Oh Scrambled you look gorgeous!

ScrambledSmegs · 07/10/2011 20:44

Ooh, sounds perfect Generic. I would so put money on you getting that ironic BFP this month.

Biscuitsandtea · 07/10/2011 20:47

Oooh you be careful Scrambled going out looking sooooo gorgeous with your swishy hair and flawless face. You'll have a trail of people behind you Wink

ScrambledSmegs · 07/10/2011 20:47

Why thank you, Generic!

It's amazing how a little bit of pampering can make you feel a whole lot better, isn't it? I've got a head, neck and shoulder massage booked for Sunday too, DH thought I could do with it. I presume that means I've been a mardy cow this week, but I'm not complaining!

ScrambledSmegs · 07/10/2011 20:49

Going out? What's that?! I've got a toddler and live in Norf Lahndan, we save up for months to go out together because the babysitters are £8 an hour round here. Yes, that's EIGHT FLIPPING POUNDS AN HOUR.

That's why I want another one. Value for money, innit Grin.

Biscuitsandtea · 07/10/2011 20:50

Hey, if DH books you a massage if you're mardy rather than saying 'you're being mardy' you've got a good'un there! Although I'm sure you weren't bring mardy at all Wink

Biscuitsandtea · 07/10/2011 20:51

Liking your value for money theory though Smile

ScrambledSmegs · 07/10/2011 20:57

Haha! Yep, that's put paid to that plan then! I'll have to put the tenner on Generic tomorrow instead :)

Anyone watching Celebrity Masterchef? Who is that red-haired woman? I missed the start and haven't a clue.

Biscuitsandtea · 07/10/2011 21:05

I've been watching it this week (sahm, nothing better to do Wink). She is Ruth someone or other and is a social historian. I'd never heard of her either and had to ask on the sleb Masterchef thread. Apparently she does lots of tv programmes where she lives in some past era, like victorian or medieval or whatever? And I think she does cooking of the era too. Do you like her?

ScrambledSmegs · 07/10/2011 21:15

Not sure. I'm a bit ambivalent about everyone this week! She's not very slebby though is she? I mean, I've let all the Hollyoaks types slide but surely this is scraping the barrel?!

CakePigeon · 07/10/2011 21:15

Oh yes I have no idea who she is either. Phil vicory to win mmm rugby thighs

Biscuitsandtea · 07/10/2011 21:19

Agreed on both counts. I'm not that keen on Ruth - She's a bit annoying and totally not famous in my humble opinion!

And yay to Phil Vickery - he's doing great - like him a lot Smile

Biscuitsandtea · 07/10/2011 21:26

And really, the no make up thing for Ruth? I know she likes medieval and old stuff, but I've watched lots of historical factually accurate documentaries (like Robin Hood, and, erm, the colin firth pride and prejudice etc) and women looked loads better than that in the olden days Wink

ScrambledSmegs · 07/10/2011 21:37

Oh, and they wore loads of makeup in The Tudors too and that was complete bollocks historically accurate.

Fair play to her though, no makeup on tv? I don't think I could be as brave as her.

LateToThisBabyMalarky · 08/10/2011 06:26

Ok, so I just happened to wake up at around 6am needing the loo so thought I may as well PIAR while I was there... One Internet cheapie and one Tesco test later each test has two lines, so BFP! Yay! Grin
I have a little bit of reservation about them though, because on both the second line is not strong... With my last BFP it was there, second line as strong as the control line, it was brooking no argument. This time, and especially considering I think I'm as much as 10 days late, it seems a little wishy-washy... Am I just being paranoid and looking for signs already that this is going to go the same was as the last one?
Should I just shut up and bask in the warm glow radiating from my BFP?! Smile

Late!! how exciting! I'm sorry - I have no good advice as just new to this thread. However, I would just be excited if I were you. Is your DH up? I think you should wake him up! Enough exclamation marks from me now. Will check in later
