New thread ladies, pull up a pew.

OP posts:

cake have you never stumbled upon Am I Being Unreasonable???? The biggest and bestest bunfights on the whole of mumsnet go on there! Some of them are hilarious. Well worth a look. But possibly only post if you've got a hardhat on as it can get a bit heated.

I'm also pleased Jo won the baking comp, she seemed really nice and down to earth.

NinjaChipmunk · 05/10/2011 12:46

why thank you biscuits i shall definitely get some tonight as last night we were both just too knackered.

Biscuitsandtea · 05/10/2011 12:47

Oh god - yes Ninja - I would be waaaaay to afraid to post on there!

I only really post on conception and preg and ante-natal. I think these are the most supportive sorts of groups where people generally need a bit of comfort and offer it to others in return. I'm sure the bereavement types bits are supportive too if one should need them. But there are lots of bits that get very heated and argumentative. Which is fine if that's your thang :)

And if you ask if you're being unreasonable you're bound to find someone who thinks you are!

Oh and just this week I have ventured into TV threads for Spooks / Downton Abbey etc which are quite good and that's led onto a thread on Richard Armitage (yummy Blush)

I'm turning into an addict!

Imps7 · 05/10/2011 12:48

Excellent news on the shagathon fronts, Cake, Popcorn and Ninja. Those rats won't last beyond the end of the week, I'm telling you.

AIBU is the Am I Being Unreasonable thread, methinks. I only look at the conception and baby names threads - does everyone else look at the rest of MN? I'm not sure I'd ever get anything done if I did!

I am officially on Day 1 of my pregnancy. I had a few words with AF this morning and told her that if she arrived in full flow she'd have you lot to answer to and that therefore if she knew what was good for her she should just turn herself into an implantation bleed and get the hell out of town. Annoyingly she just flipped me the finger and went up into fifth gear in response. Well, not this cycle you evil red witch DO YOU HEAR ME?? This is the LAST TIME I shall put up with you and your evil ways

Biscuitsandtea · 05/10/2011 12:49

Agree with Jo for the GBBO - I liked Holly at first but I think she was just too 'perfect'. Jo did seem nice and since then has set up a cookery school - that's a pretty big thing to have done! But nice that she uses it to help other people (obv for a fee but you know what I mean)

Biscuitsandtea · 05/10/2011 12:50

Imps :( - evil EVIL AF - we'll show her who's boss this month - sort her out and send her off with a flea in her ear (and somewhere less comfy too)

NinjaChipmunk · 05/10/2011 12:57

imps v sorry to hear that. She'd better pack her bags sharpish so your womb can return to its wonderousness!

farfallarocks · 05/10/2011 13:01

Imps :( but congratulations on the first day of your pregnancy, as you say, July babies are the best.

I lurk about on relationships, makes me thank my lucky stars a lot as it seems so many DHs having affairs and being abusive twonks. I don;t post a lot though.

Childbirth (tentatively) and a bit of AIBU but generally conception

PopcornMouse · 05/10/2011 13:27

I also rubberneck in the Relationships forum, but tbh it gets a bit depressing after a while so I might stop :-/

I only post in conception, and a bit in Arts and Crafts

PopcornMouse · 05/10/2011 13:28

Nooooo Imps! :(

farfallarocks · 05/10/2011 13:30

Indeed popcorn

I also have to sit on my hands a bit in pregnancy and childbirth when it seems likes posters are missing the point a bit - ' Disappointed its another boy' or something cos I thinking JUST BE GRATEFUL etc etc

CakePigeon · 05/10/2011 13:35

Thanks for the info on AIBU everyone I shall certainly take a peek right now when I'm home from work

Nooo imps you must have had a bean implant though I refuse to believe otherwise but clearly it was not up to scratch. You'll have a stickier one this month I'm sure

The relationships bit is really sad. I'm glad my DH isn't like that but it makes me sad that clearly lots of men are. I've only ever posted in conception

Imps7 · 05/10/2011 14:10

Actually, I also contribute to the good housekeeping threads a bit too - I am a real homebody and love nothing more than hints and tips on keeping a nice house! It can't only be me who was excited about the recent hot spell not just because of the enjoyment of being outside, but also because it meant I could do loads of laundry and dry it on the line??!

Ohhhhh I cannot wait for maternity leave!

Imps7 · 05/10/2011 14:11

Oh and Cake - I'm pretty sure that happened last month, but less convinced this month. Anyhoo, I'm definitely not complaining about my new 14 day LP!

PopcornMouse · 05/10/2011 14:36

We don't have a washing line...

But our new saviour cleaner starts on Thursday! :o

Imps7 · 05/10/2011 14:43

I'm not ashamed to say that my whirlygig is one of the best birthday presents I have ever been given. I love it a little bit too much perhaps

Biscuitsandtea · 05/10/2011 14:46

Imps I do love to get the washing dried outside - and also love my Whirlygig line!

Although I do often forget to get the washing back in with all the excitement of getting DS his tea and to bed and stuff and then the washing (at this time of year) is starting to get a bit chilly out there.....

Biscuitsandtea · 05/10/2011 14:47

I'm wondering about whether we could get a cleaner again. Feel a bit useless as I am a SAHM, but was thinking for when the baby comes maybe we could get a bit of help. might see if DH will give up his personal trainer perhaps for a few months and we could spend the money on a cleaner.....

Will have to see if I can persuade DH (or at least be so horrific at doing chores that he can't live in the mess any longer?)

PopcornMouse · 05/10/2011 15:02

My DH was a tough nut to crack, it's taken me since May to convince him to give one a trial and he tried to convince me to have it as my xmas present Hmm Sadly, DH hate clutter but could live in squalor quite happily :(

I definitely think a cleaner for a few months after the baby comes would be totally justifiable, as would a pre-baby blitz to get things spick and span beforehand :o

NinjaChipmunk · 05/10/2011 16:26

I love the smell of line dried washing. We don't have a cleaner (thats me) but we do have a man who does our garden once a fortnight. It would be like a jungle otherwise.
biscuits I agree a cleaner when baby arrives is a good idea, maybe drop some hints to your friends and they could club together for a whip round to pay for it instead of the millions of babygrows you would otherwise get? A stack of freezer meals is good too.

Biscuitsandtea · 05/10/2011 16:29

Oh DH'll be easy enough to convince if I make a few ooohs and aaahs nearer the time when doing anything vaguely strainy/energetic Wink

And given my last labour it wouldn't be too hard to convince him that I'll need help after - I still think the thought of labour brings him out in cold sweats! Fortunately I can't remember much of it Wink

PopcornMouse · 05/10/2011 16:34

Oh no! Was it a difficult one, biscuits? My SIL have birth recently and said hers was virtually painless, but I'm not believing a single word of it Confused

PopcornMouse · 05/10/2011 16:37

ninja, DH would like the money spent on a handyman - but that's only because that's his job lol

Biscuitsandtea · 05/10/2011 17:14

It wasn't that long a labour, or even that painful i guess as far as most labours are concerned, but DS wouldn't come out and we were getting nowhere so we ended up going forceps (when DH was given a leg to hold - I think that was the bit that freaked him out, oh and the size of the forceps), but still ended up with 3rd degree tear, loads of blood lost and being rushed out to theatre to be put back together, before I could even have skin to skin with ds (I literally got to hold him while they stuck some clamps on to keep me together!)

Thinking back DS was 1 day prem so I was monitored the whole time and on my back and I wonder if this didn't help matters?

But, hey, don't let me put you off ladies Grin
