New thread ladies, pull up a pew.

OP posts:
DizzyKipper · 29/09/2011 08:27

That sounds very promising Imps, a definite sign if you ask me. Me and OH are also planning to see Tinker Tailor for my birthday weekend and then we're off out for a meal afterwards - plenty to talk about on the film if it is a bit confusing then.

Waves to Bartlet, hi there, don't think we've met before. I'm guessing from Imps comment you're pregnant? Congratulations Grin How many weeks?

Hope all goes well for you Farfalla.

At this point I'm just obsessively recalculating what day I'll be 12 weeks on and can get my scan - December 12th, but I still better calculate it some more Wink

DizzyKipper · 29/09/2011 08:27

At 9dpo you shouldn't be getting a positive OPK should you? Which means it's even more of a good sign! Grin When are you planning to test?

Biscuitsandtea · 29/09/2011 08:31

I thought you could get a positive opk if you were pg imps?

DizzyKipper · 29/09/2011 08:40

Hmm, I thought if later on in the cycle (after you've already ovulated) if the OPK is still coming up positive then there's a very good chance you're pregnant. This page explains it really well: www.peeonastick.com/opkhpt.html

DizzyKipper · 29/09/2011 08:41

Sorry, will do that again:

BabySade · 29/09/2011 08:53

Ooh sounds interesting Imps Smile

Well I PIAR this morning & BFN. I'm now 14 dpo & have the usual AF symptoms. I'm afraid I've lost my brooking spirit today. I'm dreading telling DH too as he will be upset. This was cycle 11 for us so the dreaded year mark is around the corner Sad

Sorry for the gloomy post.

farfallarocks · 29/09/2011 09:04

baby sorry to hear that, the first few days of AF really suck don;t they :(
Are you going to your GP?

Dizzy I lurve that website and imps that is a really good sign (has visions of imps peeing on 2 sticks at once!) generic how are you this morning? Any more signs of AF or are you still in the running?

GenericDietCola · 29/09/2011 09:08

Oh Baby so sorry. My AF arrived properly last night so let's be cycle buddies for next time and make sure we succeed. What are you going to do differently? I think I'll get some preseed this month. Take it easy today and hope you feel better soon. Imps that sounds positive (ha ha!) - not long til you get your confirmation. Scarlet I had the same doubts about anne Hathaway - she just doesn't fit the mental picture I had of her. I still fancy seeing it though based on your review! Dizzy where are you in your cycle?

Imps7 · 29/09/2011 09:24

Baby I am brooking like mad for you. In fact, I don't think I've ever brooked so hard before. Chin up lovely, reaching 12 months does NOT mean that it will not happen for you.

Oooh, for some reason when I press the "return" button a new paragraph doesn't start???? Anyone else have that trouble???

Weird.

Anyway, Dizzy thanks for the link - there is a line on my OPK but it's not as dark as the control line so it isn't actually a positive - I think you have levels of LH in your wee at any time of your cycle hence the line. I love the article you linked to though - really useful to have photographs to see exactly what is/isn't a positive OPK!!

Generic sorry to hear about AF. Good plan with the Preseed - it seems to work wonders according to the success stories on this thread!

BabySade · 29/09/2011 09:24

Thanks Generic & Farfalla I am going to book an appointment with GP. I hate going as I have been before with problems with my period & been dismissed. I have always had bad period pain to the extent that I often have to be off work for the first few days. In the past two years my periods have got shorter (2-3 days) and the pain tends to be so intense on the 2 day that it makes me throw up. I went to my GP a couple of months after starting ttc, she was horrible. She said it sounded normal to her & I should expect some period pain Blush. I'm ashamed to say I didn't really defend myself and walked out thinking maybe I am a bit of a wimp.

I think I'll book in with my DH's GP who is a guy as I suspect he will be too embarrassed to argue with me over my period Wink

My main concern is that I've got a problem ovulating, if i've got to put up with being in pain fine but I'm not putting up with no baby ok?! Grin I think I've got my brooking spirit back.

Right I've ranted on so much about myself I've forgotten what you've all said. I'll read back Smile

Imps7 · 29/09/2011 09:24

Oh, turns out that when I post the message the paragraphs appear making it sound like I'm talking absolute nonsense in previous message. Thanks MN!

ScrambledSmegs · 29/09/2011 09:26

for Baby and Generic. So sorry that AF has got you Sad.

Imps that does sound promising! Yay for OPK's!

Dizzy I so want to see Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy too - it looks awesome. Sadly I don't really 'get' films like One Day etc, I'm a hard-hearted cow. Didn't even rate the book much! The last film I saw at the cinema was Super 8 and I loved it, the dialogue and historical touches were hilarious. Much more my cup of tea.

So, I'm now 6dpo (maybe 7), and I'm getting nervous. I have horribly short cycles normally (around 22/23 days) but I don't usually ovulate until about day 13/14, which doesn't leave much time for implantation. I didn't have problems getting pg with DD (or the poor bean who got knocked out of me by a massive mirror falling on me from a height) so I'm hoping that it will be the same this time, but I've been taking Vitamin B complex religiously so fingers crossed it helped! Oh, that and the preseed Smile.

Imps7 · 29/09/2011 09:27

Baby is there any way that you can see a profile of GPs at your surgery to see if any have a specialist interest in women's health and/or family planning? I saw a GP earlier this month for non-TTC related stuff and mentioned in passing the mid-cycle bleeding I'd had the previous month expecting to be fobbed off on the basis that it was the first time it had happened - she was actually very interested in it, took swabs in case there was some infection and there was no fobbing off in sight. I read her profile after my appt and it turns out that women's health is her specialist area.

ScrambledSmegs · 29/09/2011 09:32

Oops, massive x-post. Good plan, Baby, you well get to the bottom of this! I think you need to be quite tough with GP's on periods etc, a lot of them have the same attitude as yours. It took quite a while to convince my previous GP that my migraines were not a normal part of having a period, and I really did need some pain relief as spending 4 days a month in a dark room was not really an option. Luckily my current GP is a lot more understanding, I think you have to shop around sometimes! Good luck!

Haha! Imps I wouldn't even have noticed if you hadn't drawn our attention to it! Smile

BabySade · 29/09/2011 09:36

So sorry about AF Generic but here's to the next month. I bet we will have an influx of BFPs then. This thread never seems to go very long without a pile of them turning up Grin

BTW I loved One Day (the book, not seen the film) I proper cried my eyes out at the end.

The Change Up was good, i think you need to have fairly low expectations to enjoy it though. Basically 2 guys wish they had each others lives & swap bodies. My DH said afterwards that even though it was funny he thought it was a bit unrealistic that two guys would swap bodies Grin I did suggest that I don't think that anyone is expected to really believe that two people can swap bodies. Bless him, he is actually a very smart guy normally Grin

Imps I really love that peeonastick website, it's awesome. Thanks so much for the brooking & the cheesecake Smile

BabySade · 29/09/2011 09:39

That's a good idea Imps I'll have a look on their website.

Thanks Scrambled does vit b lengthen your cycle then?

ScrambledSmegs · 29/09/2011 09:54

Baby I think B6 is meant to lengthen your luteal phase (so probably increases cycle length too), but I read somewhere that taking a full B complex is better as the vitamins work together or summat like that. I could have got the wrong end of the stick though. B vitamins are pretty good anyway though, I never seem to catch anything horrible when I'm taking them, even in flu season.

farfallarocks · 29/09/2011 09:58

baby b vits are meant to lengthen the luteal phase (the bit between ovulation and your period) Ideally it should be over 10 days and some say over 12 days to let the bean implant. Others donlt see it as a problem though.

I don't think the level of pain you are experiencing is at all normal. My accunpuncture lady says periods should be pretty painless and anything else is a sign of imblanace. Since seeing her I no longer take any pain killers (it only hurts when I am MCing now!) I would push really hard for a referral to a gynae, you need to see a specialist and GPs are not generally that clued up about this sort of thing (not a dig, they are generalists)

farfallarocks · 29/09/2011 09:58

not normal that should say

Imps7 · 29/09/2011 10:06

Baby do you have private medical insurance with work or anything?

DizzyKipper · 29/09/2011 10:15

Darnit, just wrote a very long response to every one, tried to post it and got an error!

DizzyKipper · 29/09/2011 10:15

And now it's letting me post... Hmm

NinjaChipmunk · 29/09/2011 10:15

baby definitely get a gp's appointment and possibly aim to be coming out with appointments for blood tests on days 3 (progesterone) and 21/ 7 days before af (rubella immunity, LH, FSH, Thyroid and prolactin) to see if you ovulate. I don't think period pain like that should be put up with. A bit of an ache maybe but not that. If I recall have used to get sick around her period too and I'm sure she started taking a supplement of something (possibly magnesium) to ease it a bit. Maybe if she's lurking anywhere she can let you know. Good luck and don't take no for an answer.

generic very sorry af has turned up for you, but as you know its day 1 of your pregnancy. Onwards and upwards and all that guff.

imps sounds promising, fingers crossed for you.

I would also like to see Tinker Tailor and might be doing so this weekend if I'm lucky. scrambled I really liked Super 8 too, much more my kind of film. Has anyone seen Drew Barrymore's film Whip It? That was good, much better than expected.

Right I am at work so better actually do some! Be back later.

DizzyKipper · 29/09/2011 10:22

Really sorry to hear the bad news with AF Baby and Generic.
I'm on CD12, ovulation predicted for this Sunday so right now me and OH have stepped up to swi every day (usual every other day wasn't working it seemed).

That is really annoying to hear about your GP Baby. I don't know why some doctors have to assume they know better than ourselves about what's going on in our bodies, it's not as though no one in the world could ever possibly suffer from extreme period pain (people do!), and hearing your experience that should've maybe given her a clue your level of pain was a bit more than normal! But anyway, I better stop ranting. Going to a male doctor sounds like a good plan Wink

Scrambled it sounds like me and you have similar tastes in films, I'm not one for the more emotional/dramatic types either. When are you expecting AF?

Just googled this preseed so many of you seem to be talking about, it sounds good. Does it actually help to nourish the sperm the way CM does? Or just aid in sperm mobility? Either way think it might be worthwhile getting some for this cycle, got to try all measures.

DizzyKipper · 29/09/2011 10:35

Ok just went ahead and ordered some preseed, hopefully will arrive tomorrow (which is also hopefully before ovulation). Very excited, even more so than I was! Also OH just got taken on a walk by his boss to say that they want to give him a payrise but can't at the moment (something to do with consolidation and owners have taken a pay cut recently), but in the future he should be expecting to get one as they're very pleased with the work he's done. Also good news! Grin
