New thread ladies, pull up a pew.

OP posts:
Imps7 · 22/09/2011 16:48

I haven't even started the macaroons yet. OH has made me paint the skirting boards in, like, the whole house.*

NinjaChipmunk · 22/09/2011 16:52

imps you clearly need a tea break...

dreamfeeder · 22/09/2011 17:05

You certainly do imps. Now, about sensitive issues. My radiator. What can I say... Drippy. Yes. Tried to sand/pick the lumpy drips off? Yes. Made it worse? Yes. Tried to re-paint? Yes. Can only be viewed from a distance and it's a stupid size and under a window and the pretty box won't fit? Yes. PLEASE come and fix it for me! even though it's grim up north and I think you're south ish aren't you??

However, we have just arranged for a new kitchen floor. Karndean no less (in case we ever ever have the money to extend the house, so can take it up and re-lay, and floor too uneven not to level first anyway). The old dude who part-exchanged for our house put the kitchen in himself. Around the washing machine. Which will have to have the plug cut off to get it out to level the floor. Which won't be able to just have a new plug on, as the flex is pulled tight to reach the socket already. i'm stressing and it's 3 weeks til D-day (or 4 days of D-day...)

cake, bad news about AF. Acupuncture.

MyGoldenNotebook · 22/09/2011 20:12

Hi All,

I only seem to be able to post every couple of days at the moment so I apologise if I seem MIA.

Sorry about AF cake Sad I was very blue about mine last week but you do recover. Onwards and upwards old gal.

Imps painting is only fun for the first five minutes but once you've done the skirting boards in one room the others ...

Dream I'd love to try acupuncture but imagine it's expensive??

Have a good weekend Ninja :)

I am so full; just had sausage and chips followed by lemon pie. Needed to unbutton my trousers afterwards Blush

TheLittleFriend · 22/09/2011 20:22

Golden I've got my first acupunture appointment on Saturday and I'm strangely overexcited about it. It is expensive though, first appointment is £60 then £40 from then on. How many you need will depend on your situation. It'd better work!

jenfraggle · 22/09/2011 20:25

5 times in 1 day, I only managed to persuade DH 5 times last month!

Biscuitsandtea · 22/09/2011 22:06

I'm still astounded at the 5 times in one day. Is there a world record for this?

dreamfeeder · 22/09/2011 22:59

Sorry, didn't mean to be so brief before, urgent appointment with the big white telephone. Was going to say acupuncture may be worth looking into. Anyway, too tired now.

farfallarocks · 23/09/2011 08:23

Morning all, another plug for accupunture here, I find it so relaxing and it has lengthened my cycle a bit.

Thanks God its Friday!

GenericDietCola · 23/09/2011 09:08

Oh Imps I hate painting skirting boards - so hard to get into a comfortable position. Poor you. Hope you have a nicer day today.

Dream I am jealous of your new kitchen floor. I'd like to get a new floor in ours, but really we need a whole new kitchen. Hmm, maybe if we embark on that I'll get preggo as this will definitely be The Worst Possible Timing.

Golden your tea sounds delish.

Little good luck for the acupuncture - I have heard lots of good things about it helping with relaxation and cycles. I very much hope it works for you. What's next for you medically?

Morning everyone. Farfalla how are you feeling today?

Who's next for confirmation? I am planning to confirm next weekend. Symptoms so far include heightened sense of smell (but this has fooled me before) and constipation (sorry). I'm certain that this is the month and have started fantasising about how I will break the news to DH. I love this part of the 2ww when AF is far enough away that you can dream and enjoy the imaginary symptoms.

Loooopy · 23/09/2011 09:12

5 times?! my DP would never manage that! mind you, as i've still no sign of AF's even returning, no point nagging him into bed for constant SWI.

dreamfeeder · 23/09/2011 09:31

Generic, our current floor is a very officey- looking blue and touches of black carpet. Given DD's penchant for flicking food it looks the worse for wear... I would like a whole new kitchen but i know that's not happening!

farfallarocks · 23/09/2011 09:34

Oooh generic sounds very promising!

All good here, feeling quite upbeat and so looking forward to the weekend!!

GenericDietCola · 23/09/2011 09:35

Ooh Dream your floor sounds as nice as ours - dingy laminate effect lino with little silver squares all over it - yuck! Hope your sickness isn't too bad at the moment.

GenericDietCola · 23/09/2011 09:35

Farfalla I'm glad you're feeling good - you're very good at being positive. Yay re weekend!

Imps7 · 23/09/2011 10:45

Morning all!

Farfalla so pleased that you're feeling upbeat! That's the spirit girl - don't let those rats get you down. What are you up to this weekend? More dancing??

Generic cannot wait to hear your confirmation of the Blindingly Obvious! Hurrah for constipation! It can only mean one thing!

Dream, our kitchen is disgusting - it's about 20 years old, falling apart and really grimy. It's last on our "to do" list so I'll have to put up with it for another couple of years or more I'd have thought. The whole house needed doing (which is one of the reasons why we bought it - got it for a bargain as clearly no one else was stupid brave enough to tackle it!) and it's very slow progress so far. Even though we've painted most of the rooms none of them look finished because they've still got the old scraggy carpet in there - we want to get all the carpet done at the same time and we don't want to put carpet down until we've done the bathroom because otherwise it will get ruined - and it's probably another year or so until we get the bathroom done! Still, I am enjoying doing it sort of.

Good luck for the acupuncure Little. My friend is an acupuncturist (on top of her day job) and she has a very high success rate of bringing on labour for friends who are really overdue - and all of those friends have gone on to have really quick, straightforward labours. Acupuncture clearly embraces the No Brooking philosophy.

Right, must get on. Happily I've been relieved from painting duty today - will be in the kitchen getting ready for friends coming up to visit this weekend: French onion soup, roast pork and plum and custard tart. Yum! Hopefully I'll be able to get those macaroons done too.

As you were.

musicalmrs · 23/09/2011 11:10

Morning all! Hope the rat-smacking is going well.

Generic - constipation is a sure fire sign! Mine's been awful until I found the wonder that is peppermint tea yesterday - feeling a thousand times better today! Look forward to your confirmation.

I feel a bit left out on the kitchen debate - we're renting at the moment (not enough money for a deposit at the current ridiculous rates!). Hoping the parents may help us out, as we'd quite like to buy the place we're currently in (Landlords tried to sell it before renting it to us). Kitchen looks good, though the lino on the floor's getting quite tatty, so would like to replace that!

dreamfeeder · 23/09/2011 12:36

Musical, I'll trade you your constipation for my diarrhoea for a couple of days break... 5 weeks and no let-up so far... Had a bad morning for sickness, so eating my first food I can fancy and that seems to be staying down, if you can call dolly mixture a food.

Well done with the positivity farfalla hope you have a lovely weekend.

imps sounds like major work... I'm impressed. When we moved in I thought I'd get rid of textured wallpaper etc but have done nothing and dh says we don't need to... Whole house had been painted antique white as we viewed it vacant so we have been idle and touched nothing. Bar that blinking radiator and some doors.

CakePigeon · 23/09/2011 13:37

Hello all. Not to get anyone's hopes up, especially mine, but I don't actually have AF yet... Just bucket loads of creamy cm (yuk) and no other symptoms of any description. All my AF symptoms have gone although that has happened before and the symptoms just gave me 24 hrs off before massive cramps and AF got me. If still no show I'll poas tomorrow. although I imagine by posting this I will have guaranteed her imminent arrival!

Sorry to hear about various digestive problems Sad

Imps7 · 23/09/2011 13:57

Ooooo errrr Cake! Not that my hopes are up, but you are so definitely up the duff!!

PopcornMouse · 23/09/2011 14:27

I sense upduffage, cake! :o

jenfraggle · 23/09/2011 15:16

Well cake, I posted when AF didn't arrive and said that by doing so I would guarantee her arrival, next morning I got my BFP

CakePigeon · 23/09/2011 15:34

I hope I manage to follow in your footsteps jen but I don't know how hopeful to be really after my BFN. I'm at a wedding this evening so limited knicker checking opportunities-damn!

How is everyone else? Anyone doing exciting things this weekend?

Solars · 23/09/2011 15:39

Hello ladies

Cake I'm quite excited for you, I am pretty sure those pee sticks have had a good talking to from us all now and will comply tomorrow, fingers crossed!

Yes ladies my MIL certainly has the gift of the gab, these days I just ignore her!! It's the only way I can cope..

Generic looking forward to your confirmation next week, you're displaying great symptoms there! I too fantasise every month on how I will break the news to DH, a friend of mine gift wrapped the pee stick, got down on one knee and said 'will you be a father?' novel, I guess. I reckon the reality for me would be sheer disbelief anyway and then having to get DH to confirm the pee stick result!

Imps your menu sounds yum! Hope you got to make those macaroons.

GenericDietCola · 23/09/2011 15:59

Caaaaaaake! You are so upduffed!

Imps agree with Solars re your menu. You inspired me to invite BIL and (pg) SIL for Sunday lunch and do a nice big roast dinner. Yum.

Not much planned for this weekend, but got a meal out tomorrow night with some friends, which I'm looking forward to. I will be taking it easy in my obviously upduffed state and certainly not drinking
