lucy at least they are keeping a close eye that is good news and reacting to it as well and you get to see Jeanie again earlier. Hoping all stays well it will

LissySilver · 14/12/2011 20:10

lucy- Ah, the benefits of ARGC! As expensive as it is, SO worth it to give Jeanie the Beanie a fighting chance...

Off to diabetic nurse tomorrow. Pretty sure that a regulated diet will help keep the blood sugar under control. Will update everyone tomorrow...

Pocket1 · 14/12/2011 20:39

Lucy sounds like you're in good hands so hopefully you've got some peace of mind now and you can relax a bit (is that even possble for any of us ?Xmas Hmm). Hope Friday goes well. go Jeannie go

Good luck tomorrow Lissy and hope you get some good advice about managing the glucose levels. Do share any good stuff you learn. I'm dreading hearing that banoffee pie is off the list Xmas Sad

Scrummy and Bugsy just sending you a hug. i know how you're feeling but hang in there, i am praying, positie thinking, waving my magic crystals and doing all sorts of weird stuff so that you both get your BFPs next week. go embies go

Italian you okay? Sending you a hug too. Let us know you're okay.

Scrummybumb · 15/12/2011 12:16

pocket you sound so happy and elated. It's so nice too see. Thanks for your notes. Coping ok here. Not too many days to go....

bugsy hope you're keeping busy. Smile

Lucy look at the costs as what you had planned to spend on the IVF, so in your mind you had spent the money already. Good luck for tomorrow. You are in best hands over there. I have David Bowie in my head now....Hello jeanie

weller did you crash-land this morning? Xmas Wink How's the head?

teds Xmas Grin Xmas Grin congratulations to you both.

Italian when will you get your blood results back?

Scrummybumb · 15/12/2011 12:21

Oh, meant to say - the right girl won the young apprentice.
And did any of you watch the adoption programme last night. I was in tears. I was flabbergasted when I heard that they rejected a prospective adoptive family because the father would be doing the school runs rather than the mother, because the child had been used to a woman doing the school run. Seriously?

wellerbabe · 15/12/2011 12:34

scrummy yes I certainly did crash land and am not having a very productive day but was very good fun and good to let my hair down and had one too many Bellinis. Confirmed now that I am seeing the consultant on 13th Jan and need to start taking the pill from next AF in Jan. Can anyone tell me why I need to do this? Back on the wagon it is for me Wink

Waves to all the other ladies Grin

Pocket1 · 15/12/2011 17:18

scrummy i wont ask when your test date is but i think its early next week - rest assured the praying, crystal waving, chearleading and positive thinking will be channeling from me to you (and to bugsy too) until those BFPs come rolling in Xmas Grin

i didn't see the adoption thing (our blooming Sky isn't working so no TV till tomorrow Xmas Sad) but just what youve said has made me cross. One of my gorgeous and very suitable friends has been going through the adoption process for the last year, now she's at that awful waiting stage. I know the care of a child needs to managed and potential parents fully checked out etc, but it does stun me how the authorities play God when these little girls and boys just need a safe and loving home. i can't beleive they cant make the process smoother and quicker and still keep the checks in place.

weller i had to go on the pill (after i'd been down regulated with a jab that gave me headaches for two weeks) and just before i started all my meds prior to ET. I think its to help syncronise donor and recipient so that everything is completely aligned - but i'm not sure you've actually havin DET so maybe that's not even the answer you need...

Lissy hope your appintment went okay today. Please tell me banoffee pie and cream eclairs are on the 'good for baby' list...

Pocket1 · 15/12/2011 17:24

Lucy good luck with the IVIG tomorrow go jeannie go

Scrummybumb · 15/12/2011 17:46

weller www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2008/03/080324173530.htm re the Pill and IVF. It's all good.

pocket argh about not having Sky! And when you're on leave (and pregnant [hsmile] yes, test day on Tuesday. Got my Reminder letter yesterday. They must be feeling positive as this time the letter included details of when I would be invited for my first scan if the test turns out to be positive Xmas Hmm

the foster parents were all saying the same about the delays. It really doesn't help the children, so there has to be a better way. I was also shocked when they followed these three gorgeous kids and said they'd just been returned to foster parents as the adoptive parents changed their minds - after 3 years!!! Anyway, I think I could go on about this for a long time, but will close my soapbox and make myself a hot chocolate (only caffeine treat I allow myself). I hope your friend has a happy ending to her journey. It must be hard for them both.

lissy how was your appointment?

lucylookout · 15/12/2011 18:52

Hi everyone and thanks Pocket, feeling (typically for me) anxious about the scan, really hope bean Jeanie is doing Ok still, but kind of looking forward to sitting in a room for 4 hours with nothing to do but read and rest, especially as DS is getting to an, ahem, challenging stage in his recuperation.

OP posts:
LissySilver · 16/12/2011 11:33

lucy- Good luck for today, I hope everything goes well. Let us know how the scan went...

scrummy- When do you test?

Josie- I wished you luck for your HSG a little early, but here's another round of luck for Monday. I'm sure everything will go well, just relax and let DH take care of you.

pocket- How are you feeling? I hate to break it to you, but for me, banoffee pies are out! So is hot chocolate, ice cream, cakes, pies, biscuits, etc. Will go more into detail below.

keziah- Hope you're well and truly recovered from your illnesses and that you're feeling better. When do you see the new midwife?

teds- Mr Teds reaction made me laugh out loud! You must be delighted, though! It seems a bit daunting, but wait until you hold those twin bundles of joy in your arms! I don't know if you know this, but I nanny for a family that has TWO sets of twins! And they're only two years apart!

bugsy- How you are doing? Hope you're managing to keep yourself occupied, and STEP AWAY FROM THE GOOGLE!!

Hi to everyone else, hope you stay warm on this cold, raw, wet day.

AFM, had my appointment with the midwife and diabetic nurse yesterday. I have to monitor my blood sugar levels four times a day, before breakfast, and an hour after every meal. No medication is needed unless my blood sugar levels go past 7.8. Dietary restrictions? No cakes, pies, ice cream, chocolates, biscuits, etc. Low carbs, meaning only whole wheat pasta and granary breads, but I can eat loads of protein, and I don't have to curtail my fruit consumption. Have to do this until I give birth. I'm sad about the ice cream and chocolate bit, but I can have a small square here and there. I'll be getting scans every four weeks now, to monitor and measure the growth of the baby. Midwife told me it was nothing that I was doing wrong, that it was in my family, and it should resolve itself as soon as I give birth. I go back to the midwife next Thursday for a follow-up AND I have an appointment with the physio to tackle my groin/pelvic discomfort.

Teds77 · 16/12/2011 12:02

Thanks for all the lovely wishes. Still a bit Xmas Shock but taking it one day at a time until the 12 week scan is all done.

lottie I'm presuming you put two embies back too. We did, and obviously we signed various forms to say that we understood the risks etc. but some how it was still a bit of a shock to see two! I've had a good lurk on the multiples thread and have decided twin mummies are very special people Xmas Grin so hope I do get to join you.

lissy might not be what you want to hear but remember reading a thread on here about someone with gestational diabetes and once she got diet right she felt wonderful, healthy, blooming etc. throughout the pg and then went back to pre-pg weight really easily etc.

lucy hope that all goes well today and that DS is being more a bit more angelic Xmas Smile

weller I think some clinics use the pill for timing but I had two weeks on the pill before my treatment as part of my protocol. The Dr said it would give my body a bit of a rest and also it would start to gently down reg my system.

scrummy and bugsy not sure when OTDs are but have fingers crossed for you both and hoping you're not mentalling too much...

Special Christmas Xmas Biscuit Xmas Biscuit to everybody else xx.

JosieSmith1 · 16/12/2011 12:05

Congrats Ted

Pocket I will get the results there and then so on monday I will know whether I am having another 6 months or going straight to IVF [nervous emoticon]

Thanks for the good luck for HSG on monday everyone

Lissy have you just develope diabetes during pg? Sorry if you mentioned it already, I'm a bit behind everyone! Shame you have to cut things out but I bet you'll feel healthier for it!

I didn't see the programme on adoption but it sounds awful. I have been wondering about that recently seeing as we might have to have IVF and I don't have much hope of it working tbh, sorry to anyone having it, I just don't believe it'll ever happen for us now, I'm not too sad, I might be wrong. So I was wondering how the adoption process worked and how long it took, a while by the sounds of it!

londonlottie · 16/12/2011 12:07

:) I think part of the problem Teds is that at every step of the IVF journey, they try really hard to manage your expectations, so it's always a surprise when it works - doubly so when it works doubly well. We did put 2 embryos back, at the suggestion of our embryologist at Guys despite them being big advocates of single embryo transfer. This was because, in their words, the embryos were only of a medium quality (saddens me now that they were described thus).

Glad you've lurked on the Multiples threads. It is a very special experience, and although it's hard work sometimes, I don't regret having had twins for a second, ever.

bugsylugs · 16/12/2011 12:31

Hi all sorry not name checking am ni serious doubt wobble mode not helped by boobs feeling like they have gone down and achy period pain like. DH says it is all to do with high levels of hormens being given pre collection them lowering, coming off stims and nature sort of taking over with help from progesterone so off course I will feel odd things. He is always an optomist me the pesemist. Have to say no one really talked about our expectations and reality!!! Don't worry re google never been a fan at least for medical things.

*josie good luck for Mon will fly by and then you will have your answer lets hope it is great news.
lissy really surprised they said nothing re grapes and bananas. try them and then check your sugars an hr later they are both v high so I would limit them. Good luck my friend who had gestational diabetes found wholewheat pasta great, could eat granary/seed bread and I think rye bread( yeuk), ate lots of protein and fat and sugars got better. She has been ok since
*lottie great to hear your news and glad life has turned out good

pocket teds enjoy

will stop moaning now thanks for letting me.

lucylookout · 16/12/2011 13:59

Lissy, the scan went well, thank goodness. Jeanie now measures 21mm, making me think that maybe the sonographer wasn't able to get an accurate measurement last time because of it's position perhaps.

I'm glad you can control the diabetes with just diet. You might not be so grateful, but I'm sure the baby will benefit from a super healthy, low sugar diet!

Bugsy, I agree with your dh, your body will be readjusting after lots of drugs, if you're still on medication now you don't know what effect they'll be having on 'natural' pregnancy symptoms, and also, as I know first hand, symptoms come and go, and just as soon as you've convinced yourself that it's all over, they'll come back with a vengeance. Also, how many weeks are you? Losing track sorry, mine didn't kick in properly until 6/7 weeks.

OP posts:
Scrummybumb · 16/12/2011 14:16

Lucy yay for a healthy scan. Hope you had a good rest with the IVIG and managed to get one of those comfy chairs again Smile

lissy that's fab news that you can control it with diet. The weeks will fly by and then you can indulge again when at home with the baby. I for one love rye bread, but that's my scandi in me.

bugsy I'm struggling today too. I feel like I'm heading down the PMS route. Nightmare. But our hormones are playing tricks with us, so carry on we must. Just feel sorry for DH who doesn't know whether to come or go today. Tuesday couldn't come early enough !!!

Scrummybumb · 16/12/2011 14:20

Josie good luck with your HSG on Monday. I'm sure it will go fine. And I find that the best thing to do with all this is to take it one step at a time, so try not to focus too much on the what ifs, but maybe just focus on the next step.

Sorry bugsy, you're on 2ww and haven't had your BFP yet. Please forgive my scrambled brain, but I do still agree with your dh, with all of the drugs you've been taking, your body will be readjusting.

OP posts:
Pocket1 · 16/12/2011 16:09

teds my boobs didn't change at all on the 2ww AND i had crampy feelings in my tummy too - dont give up hope yet. The fat lady aint nowhere close to singing yet! go embie go

Pocket1 · 16/12/2011 16:37

Firstly, scrummy and bugsy please try not to worry about symptoms. During the 2ww i had so many symptoms and non-symptoms i almost drove myself crazy. I felt nothing in my boobs during the 2ww, they were really sore yesterday and are fine again today. And as i said in my last brief post, i had what i thought were period cramps and a bit of spotting during the 2ww - i guess what i'm saying is that you dont know till you know. So try and relax, make sure you're both spoilt rotten over the weekend and just know that a BFP is coming each of your ways next week! go embies go Xmas SmileXmas Smile

Lissy you've got the rest of your life to eat chocolate and ice cream - but for now, its good news that you can most likely manage the glucose levels with diet, and as Teds says, you feel better for it too. And you'll probably be back i the bikin this summer!

Josie don?t worry about adoption or IVF just yet. Take things one step at a time. Just focus on Monday's test/results and then go from there - we'll be here for you when you want to chat. And make sure DP makes a fuss of you over the weekend Xmas Smile

Lucy I'm so pleased that your scan went well and that jeanie is growing well. Great news to start the weekend with.

hugs and wave to everyone else

x

Pocket1 · 16/12/2011 17:06

Sorry going mad - my earlier post to teds should have been to scrummy and bugsy...

bugsylugs · 16/12/2011 21:33

thanks everyone does not help when you are a glass half empty person like me which is wrong as life has been good to me generally. Luckily dh is other way round.
lucy yeh for good scan and I hope you enjoyed seeing jeanie

Italiangreyhound · 17/12/2011 02:32
