Imps that weekend does sound rather challenging, but you're more than up to it! After Barlet's shingle-shagathon anything is possible!! Even though weddings lead to insane levels of drinking, they also tend to inspire greater, um, intimacy? the boozy partying makes you horny! I know several people who are convinced they conceived their DC the night after a wedding, incl one couple who conceived the night of MY wedding! So don't give up hope, it might be perfect in the end!

I'm sooooo glad you have a good doc who takes your concerns seriously. It's so frustrating when you get a GP who fobs you off. I hope your swabs go well (although I'm not sure exactly what you're checking for/hoping for!?!)

I'm actually feeling horrible at the moment, but I really need to stop whinging about it. I've had my pity-fest with my Mum this morning, and now I'm back to Brooking No Argument that this nausea is a Good Thing! Particularly in the run up to my 8 week scan on Saturday. I'm excited and terrified about this scan at the same time. It feels like the first real confirmation of the pg, up until now I've really only had pee sticks to go on. Conversely I have nightmares that they'll take a look and then accuse me of being a crazy woman who wanted a baby so much she created a phantom pg in her mind! Argh! Lol - ignore me, I'm housebound and a little loopy at the mo! Overall I'm still super excited but nervous and secretly loving the excuse to eat nothing but toast and jam all day every day

farfallarocks · 12/09/2011 13:39

imps I find a hangover is a sure fire way of getting DH in the mood! The swimmers are made 3 months before so don't worry about them beign drunk :)

scream keeping all crossed for you on Saturday, I know the nausea is a shame but probably in some ways reassuring?

I am wishing away the next 3 days to be honest with you, I just want to KNOW but I really don't want to see a BFN so am going to be discliplined!!!

Sn0wGoose · 12/09/2011 15:51

Imps I'm so glad she's taking that seriously, a good GP is worth its weight in gold!

Scream, what do you get to see/know/be told at an 8 week scan? It sounds exciting :o

Imps7 · 12/09/2011 16:01

Yes, maybe we'll have a wedding conception! I shall brook not the slightest argument!

I don't have the faintest clue what the swabs would detect Scream but I looked the GP up on the surgery website and her particular area of interest is women's health and family planning so I'm sure she knows what she's doing!

Sorry you're not feeling well - but glad that Squeak is continuing to make her presence known.

Wants3 · 12/09/2011 17:13

I had a close call today at work, the floor in the staff cloakroom had just been mopped with some lemony disinfectant and I gagged! I had to retreat pretty sharpish or it could have been embarrassing Blush

farfallarocks · 12/09/2011 18:31

wants dead give away!!!

I have had the SHITTEST day at work ever and am in a cronic mood.

The only thing that will make me feel better is to POAS.

Also beacuse I have always had this long held belief that not everything in life can go right at the same time so work is shit ERGO my personal life is about to improve ERGO I must be preggers right but I am only 8 or 9dpo so its pointless POAS

Biscuitsandtea · 12/09/2011 18:38

Love your logic Farfalla but don't be tempted to POAS too early and let one of those pesky BFNs sneak in - your logic is absolutely spot on so you just have to wait until the end of the week when you can prove it. QED

dreamfeeder · 12/09/2011 19:14

I have a friend who says never go out wearing no knickers, you might get pregnant. This is true. The person he was referring to was his friend, who had a gorgeous dress to wear to her friends wedding but come the day she couldn't find a single pair of undies of any description in her stash that didn't give the gorgeous dress VPL. So she had to go commando under her dress. She told her boyf. He found that, plus the loveliness of being at a wedding too irresistable, they had a quickie outside on the golf course and she got pregnant! The moral of the story as I was told it was the don't wear no knickers or you'll get pg. You know what to do now imps !!!!! Wink Totally must concieve at a wedding, I'm not taking no-nookie at a friends house as an excuse either!!

farfalla, hold your horses, and try and relax in your condition. Do not tempt those pesky pee sticks to give you a BFN. Friday!!!

ScreamIfYouWantToGoFaster · 12/09/2011 19:16

Sn0w one of the PSEPPs (pee stick endorsed pregnant people) who've already had an 8 week scan (such as Biscuits) will be able to tell you more than I can about it. All I know is it's called a "viability" scan, and one of the key things it does is tell you if something has already gone wrong in the super-risky first 8 weeks of pregnancy. Sometimes a pregnancy just doesn't work out, but you don't necessarily see evidence (blood etc) straight away, so an 8 week scan will tell you if you've had a mmc.

On the POSITIVE side though, it will also show you if everything is looking perfectly normal for 8 weeks, and if everything's on track you should also get to hear the heartbeat for the very first time!! (So excited!!!) Once you've heard the heartbeat and reached 8 weeks your chances of miscarriage go right down, I think to about 5% although some websites say as low as 3%. I don't think you see much in terms of the embryo though, it's still pretty tiny and bean-like!

Farfalla I also agree with the indisputable logic, however as Biscuits says it's clearly your month and you don't want to give the pee sticks the satisfaction of one last evil BFN before they succumb to the inevitable. I'm the worst person to listen to when it comes to when to POAS though, as I am an incurable early tester!

Wants that's exactly the kind of thing I'm worried about when I go back to work next week! We have free fruit baskets in the office which always have loads of bananas in them, and at the moment I can't even be in the same room as an unpeeled banana without gagging, let alone sit near someone peeling and eating one!! I can't figure out how I'm going to hide this...!?!

Sounds like you're onto a winner Imps - a perfect GP for someone ttc! Glad you're in good hands!

scarletfingernail · 12/09/2011 19:19

Grin at that anecdote dream, wonder if they'll tell that to the grandchildren?!

Farfalla, 2 days to go then you can POAS til your heart's content.

ScreamIfYouWantToGoFaster · 12/09/2011 19:22

Dream love the no panties warning! Grin

BartletForAmerica · 12/09/2011 19:35

Disappointed for you, Scrambled.

Day 26 here. Last night, I had repeated dreams about pregnancy tests - I kept doing them wrong, so I decided to do one when I got up. A BFN, but it is clearly just because it is too early and my BFP will arrive later in the week, probably at the same time as farfalla confirms her pregnancy.

Feeling a bit low actually. If AF turns up, this will be 6 months with nothing. I kind of had DS's first birthday as the first target, then my birthday, what to go for now? Anyway, mustn't grumble - I am Brooking No Argument and have pompoms at the ready.

BartletForAmerica · 12/09/2011 19:36

Aha, so if SWI hasn't worked next month, it's no knickers here then! Wink

Biscuitsandtea · 12/09/2011 19:40

PSEPPWHHA8WS reporting for duty (Pee stick endorsed person who has had an 8 week scan) :)

Scream is absolutely right - If there is a heartbeat at about 8 weeks or so the chances of a m/c do drop quite significantly (although not as low as after the 12 weeks scan if all is well there). They should be able to find a heartbeat at 8 weeks (as long as your dates are close enough) whereas if you go at say 6 weeks and your dates are a bit out it can cause more worry than reassurance as you find yourself at the stage where there is still just a sac and nothing much to report and then you don't know if something has gone wrong or everything is just progressing as it should be.

In terms of what you see, there was a little heartbeat flashing away but it was more prawn shaped than baby shape. Not much in the way of arms or legs at that stage (in contrast to the 12 week scan).

Off to cook some tea :) xx

dreamfeeder · 12/09/2011 19:49

I really really should go and have a bath and make some tea as DH working tonight, again... However, what i really fance is crusty french bread with mayonaise and avocado ( I had similar avocado desire all through my last pregnancy, when in RL I can take it or leave it most of the time...). As this is not an option, I'm skulking on the pooter, doing no jobs, and making no tea. Boo!

bartlet, of course you will have a BFP later this week for your shingles-efforts. Just too early. If not, aim for by Christmas- not that you'll need to. But don't concieve in December (or it may even have been late Nov for me), the midwives all say totally annoying things when you're in labour, like 'ah, another Christmas baby' and all I wanted to say was ARGH! I totally concieved before christmas and this was a much wanted baby, following a m/c and not a christmas accident. However, like a not super-touchy sane person, I said nothing....

jenfraggle · 12/09/2011 21:01

Well AF should have turned up today but no sign yet. Having now written this post I have guaranteed her arrival in the morning. That's all folks!

ScrambledSmegs · 12/09/2011 21:20

Ah, you're all lovely! Thanks for all the support. DH has been informed that the only sick note he can use to get out of SWI this month is one that states he is dead. And even then I'll be asking for a second opinion Grin.

jenfraggle ooooh! What if she's not coming? Eh? Eh?!! . Fingers crossed for you!

bartlett If ever anyone deserved a BFP, it's you! Am in awe of your fortitude! Ignore that pesky pee-stick, it's just a bit early and you will be confirming this week :)

Imps I have never known a man be put off sex because he has a hangover. In fact you'll probably be beating him off with a stick .

at all the lovely people, sprinkles baby-making fairy dust on thread.

maybebabyR · 12/09/2011 22:39

Evening everyone!

Good for you Scrambled, putting your foot down with a firm hand, I like your style.

Dream I love avocado. Even more so with some mayo

Clearly too early Bartlet When is AF not due?

I like your thinking Farfalla

Glad to hear you have a good GP Imps am sure all your tests will come back a-ok though.

Hope you are feeling a bit better Scream

Thanks for all your lovely words again preggos. Am so worried about work that I am not sleeping. Damn you horrible boss and gossiping colleagues. Still, one day closer to the weekend and all that Smile

BartletForAmerica · 13/09/2011 07:26
jenfraggle · 13/09/2011 07:28

Well you know when you get something that resembles a faint smudge that you have to have in the right light and squint at? Line, no line?

musicalmrs · 13/09/2011 07:38

YAY Bartlet - Congrats! :D Finally a pee stick that agrees with your obvious updiffedness! I'm sure the later pee sticks will further confirm it ;)

Jen - also sounds exciting! More pee sticks required to completely confirm the obvious? :)

What an exciting pee stick endorsed morning!

jaggythistle · 13/09/2011 07:40

ladies, i POA amazon cheapie at 9 dpo and got a faint pink line and it stayed faint for a week or so.

are we talking 2 BFPs this morning?Shock

if your line has any pinkness visible it's a line! Eek!

evaporation lines are colourless i believe.

how long till the lines appeared?

BartletForAmerica · 13/09/2011 07:52

jen, is that another BFP to report?!

For me, the line appeared within a couple of minutes and doesn't require any squinting. There is definitely a line, just hoping it sticks around.

jenfraggle · 13/09/2011 07:59

I'm going to try again tomorrow and hopefully it will be more defined but it was pinky. When I've done previous tests there has been nothing there so this is more than I've had before. It didn't take that long to show up, I was washing my pot out and drying it and when I looked at the test it was there. I was insanely thirsty yesterday though, drank a litre of water in the morning and another one in the afternoon. I normally struggle to manage a litre all day

Well done you though bartlet, a very well deserved reward for you valiant rat smacking efforts this month

jaggythistle · 13/09/2011 08:03

woo bartlet! Grin
