Hi preggos!

I'm loving the embarassing stories!! Luckily with just DH and I around at the mo I haven't actually been caught out yet, but I can very easily see how it would happen!!

Solars I'm glad your DH is feeling much better now and you have a chance to smack that rat again!!!

Barlet I'm sorry to hear you had a bad night, I hope the shingles clears up super fast - I'm sure brooking no argument extends to illnesses that could potentially affect rat smacking (although of course for you it won't have any imapct because your ironic BFP is assured already!)

Meconium it sucks that you have heartburn :( I know what you mean about the crying though! Yesterday I dragged myself out to the pub for the leaving drinks of one of my best friends, and when I arrived I found we were too late to get a seat and I was just so exhausted I burst out crying in the middle of the pub! DH was horrified!! It was fine in the end though, a very kind gentleman let me have his seat!! (I promise I didn't do anything annoying like actually ask for a seat from someone who had legitimately arrived before me and was fully entitled to it! This guy was just leaving anyway.)

Cake I am soooooooooooooooo jealous of your trip to Bali!!! Have an amazing time and bring us all back some goodies!

I'm back from my appointment :) I'm glad the wheels are in motion, and it is more exciting now! I had the anemia blood test though, which was grim. I'm HOPELESS with needles so in an attempt to Brook No Argument I told the doc that even though I generally hate needles I'm going to LOVE them for the next nine months! The doc then stuck me with it, and I promptly almost passed out! It was so embarassing, I started swaying and sweating, totally gross. I'm such a wuss. Blush It was all fine though, he got the sample and it's off for testing.

The doc answered all my questions very patiently, and I really appreciated the support. He even said he'll see if he can get a 8 week scan for me at the nhs hospital - which was kind as that's not standard policy! There was only one point, when I told him about my cramps, that he suddenly looked really concerned and I got a bit freaked out! The upshot is that I will be continuing to take it very easy, not bedrest but not much activity either.

Overall an exciting morning for Squeak and I. I even escaped without being weighed! Grin

maybebabyR · 26/08/2011 10:52

Wohoo for Scream and Squeak so pleased it all went well, very very exciting Grin

Well done for not passing out. I am fine with needles, except if a dentist is holding one. I chipped bit of tooth and had to have a little filling. I refused anaesthetic, as i don't believe needles should come near my gums. Needless to say it hurt a tad Smile

CakePigeon · 26/08/2011 11:00

scream so glad for you and squeak Smile I am also hopeless with needles. I almost cried when DH told me I'd have to have one in the back of my hand when I'm giving birth to cakelet the thought still makes me feel faint! Oh well, have 9 months to get used to the idea!

We're staying at the Maya Ubud, maybe. I want to see the monkeys but the guidebook keeps mentioning rabies Hmm

BabySade · 26/08/2011 11:11

Did I miss a BFP?!?? Congratulations Yacka Grin

Cake Bali sounds awesome! Im sure you will have a lovely time

Solars glad you managed to get some rat smacking done Wink

Scream glad everything went ok at the docs

Dream don't go on holiday! How will we cope?!

ScreamIfYouWantToGoFaster · 26/08/2011 11:13

Needles are absolutely evil Cake I agree. I hate the idea of a drip, because they actually leave the needle in your skin! Shock Normally I feel woozy from the moment the needle goes in until a minute or so after they take it out. Not quite sure how that's going to work out when they start leaving needles in for long periods of time Hmm.

The epidural needle sounds like the stuff nightmares are made of. Plus, in order to make the HUGE epidural needle slightly less painful, they give you an extra injection advance! TWO needles! Plus a drip! I'm trying not to think about it as well because the alternative (giving birth without an epidural) is unimaginable for a wuss like me!

Fortunately I happen to LOVE needles for the next 8 months, so everything's going to work out FINE!

maybebabyR · 26/08/2011 11:14

That's where my cousin just stayed! She loved it. We were just up the road. We had rabies jabs before we went, just in case. But we didn't see a single monkey!

When are you testing again Baby?

BabySade · 26/08/2011 11:16

Forgot to say thanks for all the positive pee sticks vibes everyone Meconium Bartle Farfalla Imps and everyone else!

I just accidentally made a cup of tea with 3 teabags so clearly have baby brain has nothing to do with trying to use mn at the same time

MeconiumHappens · 26/08/2011 11:19

cake but will you have to have a drip?

Scream crying in the pub, classic preggo moment. You must make a note of that somewhere for later reading, it will make you chuckle :)

All this talk of holidays is making me very green (jealousy, not ms ha) we were planning to go away in january but will book it as a last minute o we can see how things are going. Have an amazing time cake.

BabySade · 26/08/2011 11:24

Well I'm on day 32 and AF is normally due anytime from day 31 to 34. So I'm gonna leave it until Sunday as if I get a BFN it will really affect my ability to brook no argument

Scream I don't know if this will make you feel any better but when you get a cannula put in there is no needle kept in. The needle is covered by a thin plastic like tube and the needle is just used to site it. Once it is in the vein they remove the needle and leave the tube in to give medication through .

CakePigeon · 26/08/2011 11:32

baby anything going into my skin and being left there is just wrong! all of this talk of cannulas is making my hand feel weird!

We haven't had any jabs maybe eek! I had better stay away from monkeys. I will be more interested in rats that week anyway Grin

Good luck baby keep up the no brooking spirit (although I find the odd evening off is apparently allowed Grin)

ScreamIfYouWantToGoFaster · 26/08/2011 11:34

Thanks Baby!! That makes me feel a LOT better!

Meconium thanks for the suggestion of writing down my crazy preggo moments! You're right, I would definitely look back on a record of a moment like that and have a good chuckle! It might also reassure me on the second go round (if this time works out) if I have similar symptoms that I'd forgotten about!

CakePigeon · 26/08/2011 11:42

What kind of exams are you sitting scream?

maybebabyR · 26/08/2011 11:46

I love stationary Grin

Good luck with the exams Scream

Grin Cake rats are much better then monkeys

Hope the heartburn has calmed down Meconium

Baby that is very clearly baby brain. It's just too early to convince the pee sticks

Sn0wGoose · 26/08/2011 11:46

As I am clearly going to get a BNP on 22nd September, though, I'm going to have to get over that pretty sharpish :o

AF done and dusted, now onto a rare and treasured free weekend with DH (he works shifts) to get started with the SWI :o

Sn0wGoose · 26/08/2011 11:48

BNP BFP. Early-onset baby brain, obviously.

CakePigeon · 26/08/2011 11:54

Grin at snow and BNP. Have fun SWI this month. I may put DH off for another day or so Hmm bad wife that I am, I love sleep too much!

thelittlefriend · 26/08/2011 13:13

Three pages of posts already! Wow, this is not only the most fertile thread, but the chattiest too!

Solars · 26/08/2011 15:28

arghhhhh what is this talk of needles the very thought of them make my teeth feel funny...i always have to look away when bloods are taken or injections given!

Scream so glad to hear you had a productive time at your GP and hope the revising is going well for your exams.

Maybe am I right in saying that there is something of a geek about you? I love stationary [hmmm] It's not a criticism, as i'm the same :)

Sn0w enjoy your SWI!

Cake stay away from the monkeys and keep a look out for rats in Bali

waves at Little

by the way where is my other cycle buddy Jen??

dreamfeeder · 26/08/2011 16:15

hello Rat Smackers!

All I can say is HEURGHHHHHHHHH!!! boo... the brooking no argument is not 100% so far. And poor DD had to get dumped on the floor near the bathroom in a rush and proceeded to sob with tears running down her cheeks while I was sick (and i couldn't even manage to say 'it's ok' at that point) as it clearly scared her. Not sure what I can do about that though. Only being actually sick in the morning, though feeling nauseous on and off all day... Of course, won't get any worse as I'm upping the positive vibes. And very, very grateful haven't got/had the hyperemesis of bartlet and yacka.

The only decaf tea I think tastes ok is Clipper. Yum yum. Still needs a lot more stewing than real-caf tea though. Redbush makes me sick when pg (surprise surprise).

scarlet, I will struggle without mn... I'm slightly more hopeful as the cottage may possibly have wifi, but dh and i are both hopeless with technology and we took a laptop once and couldn't get it hooked up to the wifi...

maybe We're off to near St Andrews. Furthest drive risked with DD. 4 hours in the car with a baby. Not my idea of fun- I'd normally go in the back with her to keep her busy, but bet that'll make me sick... and DH normally likes to drive, which is my best position for not puking, but also DH can no longer fit in the front passenger seat of our car.... think behemoth group 1 rear facing car seat in a ford focus and 6'4" dh... If we can't get t'internet, will we see your smoke signal from there??????

baby, i think your pee-stick story is going to take some beating! I have none to compete with that...

cake, Bali sounds lovely, i nearly went, on a round-the-world ticket at 18 but for reasons not worth explaining ended up cancelling the bali part, bah!

dreamfeeder · 26/08/2011 16:17

oh, and ninja, which ring sling do you have? Not looked at them. Have to confess, have still been carrying DD in my (borrowed) ErgoBaby since got reassured about uterus still below top of pelvis so figure doing no harm at min (dur at thickness of self for not realising it myself...)

dreamfeeder · 26/08/2011 16:32

rubbish, sorry posted before seeing page 2... well done at GP scream

My epidural was crap- they had 5 goes to get it in (!!!!! the consultant- don't know if a reg would have been better as more in practice) and kept hitting my sciatic nerve, so I was having contractions I couldn't cope with (I was induced so they just whack up the synto) every minute, then a needle jabbed into my spine/nerve in between. Bit grim. And I was unlucky enough to have 5 months of epidural back pain afterwards too... I would try to avoid for this one. And another really painful bit was the blooming over-confident midwife insisted he could get a grey cannula in my hand to induce me after prostoglandin pessary didn't do much, I TOLD him in exactly such words my veins are narrow and couldn't take it but oh no, he knew best, said they looked good, and tissued both hands, twice, which took weeks to heal and had to have drip right by thumb in my dominant hand which meant I struggled to even wipe myself going to the loo.... Which just encourages me, because that can't happen again, it'll be like, miles better, right???

and hello little!

maybebabyR · 26/08/2011 18:00

Oh Dream that sounds horrific. I had an epidural once for a knee op, and was kept on for 48 hours. Horrific, and so god damn itchy, and I couldn't feel the scratching to get rid of it.

Holiday sounds lovely too. If there are smoke signals to send, I will find a way to make you see them! Oh, and I'll send some folic acid reminders too Grin

Oh, and Solars I am beyond geek. Science, cooking, stationary and knitting. Need I say more? Grin

jenfraggle · 26/08/2011 18:28

Well I don't post for a couple of days and you have moved over here!

BartletForAmerica · 26/08/2011 19:51

jen, I can't make muffins. They never rise properly. I'm a really good baker otherwise. What am I doing wrong?

dream, you're Scottish? Depending on how old DH is, I probably know him, or, at least, have friends in common.

maybe, I love stationery too. I love getting a new diary or notebook. That said, I have been a Bad Mummy and not done a baby book yet for DS. I just can't find one I like enough.

I'm feeling a bit better today, thanks to industrial strength painkillers and big cups of redbush tea. I love that stuff! Waitress own-brand decaff tea or Twining's decaff English breakfast are also pretty good.

No sign of an LH surge on the pee sticks but will carry on with SWI anyway. Just want confirmation of ovulation to reassure me that everything's gone back to normal.

jaggythistle · 26/08/2011 20:18

they had 2 goes at my epidural too, apparently the drugs all leaked out or something so it didn't work. DH was more freaked out than me by the process though, i was completely off my face on the gas and air. Blush i quite liked it but had to get drip due to them trying to speed things up, was recommended epidural for it.

dream, pop in for a cuppa/bucket if you want, i reckon you'll be passing close to mine!
