So, after almost turning myself inside out giving birth to DC1, we've decided to take the plunge and try for another. Thought this would be a good place to share excitement / terror / general state of knackeredness. Just watch your feet as you come in. I haven't had chance to tidy the lego away yet and you know how much it hurts when you stand on it.
Glass of Wine anyone?

I agree with monkeypuzzletree. Fluffy you can always start ttc whilst dieting there are other threads I have seen in passing in conception about loosing weight and ttc so could have a search. Not that you are not more than welcome here as well Grin.

Wow mpt you sound like super woman today wish I had all that energy I am currently depressed about starting back at work tomorrow and sending dd for her 1st day back at nursery oh how I envy sahm's right now (will not do when I get paid tho!! Smile) damn why can't I have it both ways...

monkeypuzzeltree · 05/09/2011 22:29

Clandy - I am coming to realise that you can't have it both ways, motherhood seems to come with guilt whatever you do! I do understand how you feel but you're right, earning your own money is nice and frankly, you get to at least have part of the week when you can go to the loo on your own, eat all your own food and talk to other people! I am starting to have dark thoughts about the long winter afternoons looming ahead! I am seriously starting to want to go back to work but now that we are TTC no.2, it is not going to work.

Bought DD some wellies today, decided that she can walk in the park whatever the weather in the winter, just so we get out!

ChildOfThe1980s · 06/09/2011 00:20

Hi everyone.

I would like to ttc #2 but are not allowed to yet as we are too poor, apparently. Anyway, for when we are ready, I was wondering, do you think it takes a few months for your body to be fertile after using the pill for years? I took 11 months to concieve last time, and that was 6 years ago.

Also, please can you explain to me in very simple terms, which time of the month are you actually fertile? I just can't get my head around it.

Thanks!

Numberjacker · 06/09/2011 07:30

Hi all,

Grrrrr!! Angry. AF got me today. I am beyond angry, disappointed, and weepy! Really thought we'd nailed it (literally). This month. Sooooo gutted. Really not in the right mood for work today, heaven help anyone who crosses me today, they'll either get a mouthful of abuse or a flood of tears.

Apologies housemates, but I have drank all the caffeine and alcohol and eat the rest of the chocolate. I'll pop in on my way to work and replenish stocksSmile

Sorry for the rant, I can't tell anyone in RL, so you guys are my only therapy (and wonderful and beautiful therapy you are too)

Can I just say (Fluffy & Child) if it helps, my advice would be just go for it with TTC!! We put it off for 6 months for "work" reasons and have now been trying 5. Just wished I'd have thought sod it, and ttc straight away.

Child - I was always 28-32 before pill. Came off and conceived DD first attempt but this time have take ages to settle after pill and are Approx 26 days.
Fertile optimum day is 14 days before AF (eg for me day 12) but if cycles are irregular you won't really know. Best to SWI the week before this, and a couple of days after, just in case. HOpe that helps.

And breathe.........

HorridCold · 06/09/2011 08:46

Hey all,

Numberjacker Sad I'm really sorry hun, that's shit for you. Please take heart though that it will happen. But I do know how crap it is. When I desperately wanted a baby (not long after having DD), I used to get upset when AF arrived, even if we hadn't SWId at all that month - now that was just weird!! Hmm You are welcome to finish all the caffeine, alcohol and chocolate. I will replenish the stocks. Big (((((hugs))))) for you. Smile

Fluffy, I second what the other ladies have said but also, just to let you know... My Dsis is currently PG and is about 17 weeks now. She is a size 24 (pre-preg size) and her BMI was around 35 (again pre-preg). So I really don't think that you need to worrry. Having a healthy diet etc helps and all the 'giving up caffeine' and stuff. But all you have to do is look at people in Africa and even people in the Western World who take drugs/smoke/drink too much, they all manage to get PG, normally without trying. You can look at all the statistics in the world and look at what we're supposed to do, but it doesn't mean that it won't happen for you anyway. Always keep that thought in the back of your mind... Smile

Child, I was out with my friend last night who was asking the same questions as you, we had a nice long chat!! So, Day 1 of your AF (Bleeding, not just spotting or cramping) is classed as CD1. In a perfect world, our cycles are 28 days and again in a perfect world, CD14 would be the day that you OV. Therefore the week leading up to that day are the best times for SWIing. CD15 to CD28 are called the Luteal phase, which for most people is 14 days. The longer the Luteal phase the better as it gives more time for the egg to get comfy before AF would be due. Those with a shorter Luteal phase tend to find it slightly more difficult to keep a PG going in the first few days because the egg doesn't always implant sufficiently.

The only way to really find out when you're OVing is to follow a couple of things. The first is to take your BASL temperature (pref first thing in the morning before getting out of bed and after at least three hours sleep), every day for a whole cycle. You will see a pattern of steady temps and then a drop right after OVing. If you're PG the temp won't drop and will start to go up instead. Secondly, by checking out your CM which should be Egg White for a few days before OVing.

There's loads of stuff on MN about it, I found it amazing that I knew so little when I started TTCing DD! So, lesson over, hopefully you will find some of that useful hun.

Clandy, I know what you mean about going to work hun. I had to go back to work when DD was only 4 months old. It was a new job aswell and I hated it and it led to me being signed off with depression. I really thought I wanted to be a SAHM and that that was the main issue. But now I'm in a job that I enjoy, I realise that actually being a SAHM Mum wouldn't be for me. I worship DD but I do find that I get bored quite easily with 'toddler' games. Whereas I am very happy in the knowledge that I'm paying someone else to keep my gorgeous DD occupied AT ALL TIMES. If she was here with me I'd be doing housework or watching the TV. She has a much better time where she is! Grin

MPT, how are you doing hun? Absolutely get those wellies on and get outside. We've only just managed to buy DD some because her feet are so dinky (she is a tiny 2 year old) that she's not even in a size 4 yet. So we bought some size 4s thinking that within the next couple of months, she'll be able to wear them - fingers crossed...

Hope everyone else is Ok!

Passing around the biscuits and crisps. But I have to have some toast first. Catch you all later.

Numberjacker · 06/09/2011 09:26

Thanks HC for the virtual hug, just what I needed!

Have had the journey to work to get over myself and look at the positives (gorgeous DD, lovely DH who is happy to SWI everyday if required) so am going to drink and shag my way to victory!!

Here are some M&S choc cakes for everyone, and as they're virtual they are calorie free and guilt free

HerniaGranger · 06/09/2011 11:30

Hello everyone,

Thought I'd pop in for a quick catch-up.

Crappy result this month, Numberjacker. It WILL happen soon. I think that you should get completely rat-arsed on one of your fertile days. Bet you'll get pregnant straight away. (No, I'm not condoning the use of alcohol as an aid to pregnancy - you'll have a good time trying though!)

Clandy - Back to school already?! Hope your charges are behaving well and not giving you too much gip.

Nice to meet you Fluffy - Don't get too bogged down with trying to lose weight. I'm on the larger size myself but I'm pretty healthy with it. I lead an active life, it's just that I'm a bit greedy. I'm (mostly) eating healthily so hopefully I won't put too much weight on this time either. I think the key is to stay active and away from too much cake. All that matters is that you and your baby are healthy. Many slim women have unhealthy pregnancies because they eat the wrong things, smoke and drink too much etc.

Right. That's enough from me. I haven't been to the toilet for at least three minutes so I'm absolutely bursting now.

[waves to HC and MPT as I dash out]

ChildOfThe1980s · 06/09/2011 12:01

Thanks guys for your advice. The female body is just too complicated! x

monkeypuzzeltree · 06/09/2011 14:08

Hello ladies ...[swipes cake]

Numberjack - bugger, sorry to hear that. It is just the waiting lark that is hard, all I can suggest is that you do something nice for yourself ... then chin up, but for today, eat cake and drink wine later.

Horrid - we have the opposite problem, DD is a giant and is about to get new shoes 6.5!! At 18 months!!! This will be her second pair since june! Try next for your DD, their spotty ones were really narrow when I tried them.

All good here, just keeping busy and throwing myself into SAHM mode, on account of being driven slightly mad by it. Honestly, in the past week I've made cakes, ironed, taken DD to lots of activities, bought wellies. Seriously, I'll be making yoghurt next! Now... where is an apron, I'm sure I own one.... this cannot last, I'll be smoking in the shed again at some point soon I'm sure! Right off to do ironing and then zumba this pm - in the kitchen - not in public, the world is not ready for that yet!

Also wondering if I will OV again this month, so hoping to get a go at SWI!!! Apparently you sometimes do after an early MC, so just need to work out if DH is going to be in the country at the right time....

[places home made cakes on cake stand and doilies....] Help yourself ladies! (seriously, this cannot last!!)

WinterLover · 06/09/2011 15:26

Hi Ladies, I might be a premature joining you all as DS is only 6 weeks old but just have a question for you all...

Whats the age gap between your DCs?

HorridCold · 06/09/2011 15:48

Winter, not premature at all - the more the merrier! Grin My DD is 27 months. BUT, my SIL has a boy and girl only 10 months apart - ouch!! Hmm

Thanks for the M&S choc cakes Number and LOVELY Doilies MPT. The homemade cake is pretty good too!!

I've just had 5 x 1 hour meetings back to back. I'm really fed up and still have to get out all the actions (of course the majority are for me - typical) and then get on with the day-job. Also, my cold seems to have come back with a vengeance Angry.

Hope all of you are OK.

Clandy · 06/09/2011 18:46

Wow what a busy day in here!! Work was fine no kids as I work in reception so they are not in till next week!! On the down side I got bloody clamped and had a furious conversation with possibly the nicest man in the world Blush thanks for the cake just what I needed!!

What's wring with making yoghurt eh? Grin I have some lemon in the fridge right now, looks like I am a born sahm!! Haha. Yeah wells sounds like a good plan dd lives in them when playing in the garden (doesn't know how to avoid chicken poo yet ) you get so many kids that don't want to go out in the littlest bit of rain cos they have never been allowed it's so sad I love to play out in the rain!! Grin

Sorry to hear bout af even tho we are 'not trying' this month I think I will be gutted if she turns up. Glad to hear your dp is up to the task of swi all day every day Grin fingers crossed it's your month this time round Smile

Oh n big hello to newbies!! Smile my dd is 19 months now (in size 6 Wink) so hoping there is gonna be just less than 2.5 years between the two but we will see....

Nice to see you hernia glad pregnancy is going well have you worked out edd??

Big waves to HC sounds like a busy day for you hope you get to put your feet up tonight Smile

Numberjacker · 06/09/2011 20:09

Evening all,

MPT - hope your cycle has settled down and ov is imminent, am sure I have read of others who have conceived quite quickly after early-mc so fingers crossed x

HC have you considered changing your name to avoid your cold? Maybe you have psychic tendencies, in which case change your name to "freeHoliday" and see if it comes true. Wink Hope you got all your action points done?

Clandy - did you get yourself unclamped? Am assuming this is in the car sense and not some SWI mishap!

Took Hernia's advice on getting rat-arsed and poured a nice G&T! Perfect.

Clandy · 06/09/2011 20:23

Yes in the car sense Grin got me thinking now of other possible ways to be clamped......! Glad you have got yourself a nice g and t!! Gonna pour myself a archers and lemonade n join you, scoot up!!

FluffyMitchell · 06/09/2011 20:44

Hi all, just read all the messages on the thread and am sure I have PG symptoms by osmosis, just by seeing the words 'sore boobs,' 'nausea', and 'crampy' make me almost feel those symptoms even though have only SWI'd once in the last 10 days!
DH working late a lot recently so need to tie him down tomorrow (not literally, need him to be 'free' obviously) while the 'fertile time' lasts.
Thanks for lovely words re. the weight issue. Am following ww and exercising a lot, so will hopefully be healthier (and preggers) soon.
So excited that there have been BFPs on this thread so far and feeling really sad for anyone whose AF arrived, it's so infuriating sometimes.
Onwards and upwards!

Clandy · 06/09/2011 20:51

Haha fluffy tie him up if needs be!! Grin gotta get swi whilst you can if you want a bfp! Think my dp is secretly half hoping it takes a while to ttc as I am jumping him at every opportunity.

Glad your feeling happier bout the weight thing and sounds like your doing all the right things! Hopefully bfp is on it's way for you

Numberjacker · 06/09/2011 20:53

Lol at DH being Tied-down, Fluffy. With that and the clamping, poor Winter will think she's stumbled in to a vice-den! Blush

Mmmmmm - nice peachy aroma coming from that Archers,

WinterLover · 06/09/2011 22:22

I cant see our OH's complaining about being tied down somehow - well DP wouldnt anyway Grin

turnwest · 07/09/2011 08:43

Hello

I be just finished reading all your posts and I feel like a know you all so well!! I am 33 yr old sahm, except my dd has just started reception class so I have empty nest syndrome and really want another a child!! Probably should go back to work instead but I can't help how I feel. Anyway on cycle 2 ttc, was convinced I was preg last month had lots of symptoms, and was three days late but Af arrived!! Knew it would nt my happen first time but I still felt sad. Anyway, my cycle varies from 25 to 30 days so am not sure when I ov so have just guessed this month, still a lot of cm ( tmi sorry) so am wondering if I am still fertile ?? Might grap dh later tonight, he won't mind!!

Anyway, I can't bake well but there is a great
Bakers nearby so I have bought so wonderful carrot cake if anyone fancies any? So do you mind if I join you? Am feeling a bit lonely at moment especially now dd has started school

Numberjacker · 07/09/2011 12:55

Hi Turn, you are most welcome! We'll budge up on the sofa, put your feet up. Lovely to meet you. Hope we can help while away the hours until home-time.

There's no such thing as TMI so feel free to spill. That's the beauty of this, we don't have to look each other in the eye Blush

I find it very therapeutic as can't tell anyone in real life (apart from DH) what am thinking /feeling, so this is a great outlet for rants, worries, and general chit chat.

Lovely cake by the way........

monkeypuzzeltree · 07/09/2011 14:18

[swipes shop bought carrot cake - anything is better than my dry flat sponge cake!]

Hello Turnwest. Don't be lonely, I know how you feel, I put DD into a playgroup this morning for the first time ever. She didn't look back, legged it into the room and didn't even notice I had arrived to come and collect her! I meanwhile wondered around town, not quite sure what to do with myself!

Hope everyone is well.

turnwest · 07/09/2011 15:01

Yes its very strange to suddenly have free time, unfortunately now I am becoming obsessed with my possible pregnancy symptoms, even contemplated doing a test this morning although its way to early and I dont even know if I ve ovulated yet!! Anyway Ive decided to be positive and assume I am fertile now and grab dh once dd is asleep!! My cycle seems to be getting shorter on average though (except for last month), and i ve never had a positive sign on the ovulation sticks so I am worried I am going through an early menopause.

Anyway, I ve just enough time to have some chocolate before dashing to school to pick DD up, who makes things worse (bless her) by checking my tummy constantly to see if its got bigger yet. Shes desperate for a baby sister or brother, as all her friends mums seemto be pregnant at moment. Well hopefully she ll get her wish! Heres to us all being pregnant by christmas!!

FluffyMitchell · 07/09/2011 19:43

aaaww Turnwest hope your DD gets her wish! My DS is not quite 2 and doesn't really have a clue we're hoping to have a new 'baba' (as he calls it) in the house.
Juts realised I have never brought any treats for you all. Well how about some cereal bars, nice and healthy and all that? No takers?.....Hmm, OK a big old chocolate cake would probably be better. Chomp.

Clandy · 07/09/2011 19:59

Ah brilliant lots of yummy cakes to share big slice of carrot and chocolate and even flat sponge!! If I'm gonna get sw(absolutely no)i I am going to need the energy! Smile

Hello turnwest and hope dd had a fab day at school. Can imagine that it would seem empty without her around. Fingers crossed for a quick bfp, least if she is out you can get lots of swi in.... Grin

How did dd get on at playgroup?? Did you enjoy some lovely time to yourself?? My dd has made her very first real and non related friend today Smile she is called maisie and dd was searching all round the house for her this afternoon

monkeypuzzeltree · 07/09/2011 20:37

Ah Clandy that is so sweet! DD had a friend over to play in the garden the other day and she went home after lunch. After DDs nap she came downstairs and ran out to the garden and was quite convinced I had kept her friend in the shed. Spent the afternoon shouting her name at the door. The neighbours don't appear to have called the police!

Am feeling a bit sore tonight, had an incident with the pushchair and a broken curb, went to go up the curb, put the wheels down and pushed - was in a hurry, wheel got stuck and I literally nearly went over the handlebar! Grazed my leg, pulled something in my back and arm. Also made very silly yelping noise. Also bashed nose on DDs head. She just went weeeeeeeee. Not cool.

Pass the cake and here for those that are, tonight is a Wine night.
