New thread, hopefully not clashing with another new thread! This Is Our Month, Rat Smackers.

OP posts:
scarletfingernail · 21/07/2011 15:40

Congratulations Moose on your very definite BFP!!!!! Smile

How exciting. Have you told your DP yet?

ScreamIfYouWantToGoFaster · 21/07/2011 15:41

Congratulations Moose !!! You showed that pee stick who's boss!! (We all knew already of course, it's just those pesky pee sticks that take a while to get the message).

Ooooo you must be due right around the same time as Maybe Biscuits and I!

Is it too soon to ask for a summary of key symptoms / what you did differently to convince the rebellious sticks? Blush

Biscuitsandtea · 21/07/2011 15:43

Good job Moose - and good luck , hope you have a happy and healthy 9 months. I do hope you'll pop back to visit us and rub off some of your pregnant-ness on us?

TinFairy · 21/07/2011 15:44

Woohoo! Fantastic, Moose! I think we can declare that a definite BFP. Especially as you got it without using FMU.

Way to smack that rat!

Biscuitsandtea · 21/07/2011 15:47

So is that our first BFP on this thread? Or first this month? Can't remember who else has had one? mind you I am kinda new.......

NinjaChipmunk · 21/07/2011 15:51

congratulations moose, good luck and good health to you!

biscuits there have been others but it would take me days to trawl back through the thread to work out who. Am sure someone else will remember for me, damn my baby brain!

Biscuitsandtea · 21/07/2011 15:53

First one for a while then perhaps. Blooming good effort anyway Moose and lets hope it starts a run of BFPs :) xx

GenericDietCola · 21/07/2011 15:55

Great stuff, Moose well done!

GenericDietCola · 21/07/2011 15:56

Scarlet - deffo - we can be competitive about how much we are smacking the rat (is that weird?)

NinjaChipmunk · 21/07/2011 15:58

Absolutely! Can't wait to have mine confirmed. Aw I feel all excited now. I don't think testing on day 18 of a 27 day cyce would be too helpful though.
Speaking of which, I could do with some advice here. Dp's birthday is the 28th and we are off out for an adults only posh meal with wine and stuff, his folks are down for the weekend from friday 29th, af is due around the 30th, my birthday is the 3rd and our hosp appt is on the 4th. So when do I test????? His folks will be expecting me to partake in wine seeing as its the birthday weekend....

Biscuitsandtea · 21/07/2011 16:04

Hmm, so ninja the meal will be about 2 days before AF due? Have you ov'd yet?

NinjaChipmunk · 21/07/2011 16:05

I believe so. I usually get a surge on the ov sticks about day 11/ 12 which is about right if you think ov would take place around day 13 or 14 of a 27/28 day cycle.

HidingInTheUndergrowth · 21/07/2011 16:08

Congratulations moose! great job! :o

do pop over to the anti-natal thread when you fancy a bit of a moan and some power ballads.

I see everyone seems to be confirming over the weekend! How exciting, I had better go and plump the cushions and bake some more oatcakes. See you all soon

Biscuitsandtea · 21/07/2011 16:10

So if my maths is correct you are perhaps 4dpo now (being prudent) which would make you about 12 dpo on the 29th? You could be ok to test on the Friday morning with a mega sensitive test (the internet cheapie ones are often the most sensitive aren't they?

If you're still not sure after that you could try the drinking really slowly thing. I've done that in the past. Have a glass of wine and sip out of it occasionally, sometimes even fake sips? Depends if the in laws are expecting you to be downing glasses? I once went out for dinner with a friend who did that and i totally didn't notice. Was stunned when she told me and I said 'but... you were drinking' and she pointed out that she was just pretending and hadn't actually drunk anything.

If you get a glass of water too then just drink more of that. For pre dinner drinks if applicable I always just say I'm really thirsty and would just like a cold drink to quench my thirst.

GenericDietCola · 21/07/2011 16:11

Ninja would you tell the inlaws about your BFP? If so, you could justify testing before the birthday meal. If not, try to resist and just go easy on the booze. Definitely test before the hosp appointment - that way you can do the cancelling appointment because of pregnancy thing

NinjaChipmunk · 21/07/2011 16:18

I wouldn't be closed to the idea of telling them, we've been trying for 15 months and I think the relief of a bfp may over take the whole waiting till 12 weeks thing. I was wondering about testing before the birthday meal on the 28th.

Biscuitsandtea · 21/07/2011 16:22

well it can't hurt to test can it as long as you;re using a sensitive one. ANd don't panic too much if it says no. My thoughts on telling people before 12 weeks are (being glum) if anything bad happened would i tell them about that? I mean when we had our mc we had told our parents the week before (my mum had told us she had cancer so we told her about the bfp thing) but then mc. Was still glad i had told them though as they were there to support us. Oddly then on the second pg we never told anyone til 12 weeks, not even the parentals.

This time though, like you say, the long wait puts it in a different perspective. And on the basis that I would tell them if i had another mc i would probably tell them if we got a bfp. Maybe give it a few weeks for it to settle in but then probably would tell.

Not sure if that helps at all - more like a brain dump of some random stuff out of my head...... Hmm

GenericDietCola · 21/07/2011 16:23

You could test, but it might be too early so you could get a false negative. I hope you do test and it's a BFP, then you have some lovely news for your DP's birthday and something to tell the in-laws if you decide to share it. Bear in mind that it's lovely having a little secret for a while though!

GenericDietCola · 21/07/2011 16:26

xposts Biscuits but nice to see that we agree. Totally with you on the 'would we want them to know if we had a mc' thing. If when I am pregnant this time I am not breathing a word to anyone except DH until we have photographic evidence of a jumping bean

NinjaChipmunk · 21/07/2011 16:27

I know generic, when I was pregnant with ninjaboy it was lovely and deliicious being the only ones who knew but so very difficult to keep it secret.

Right, where do I order cheap pee sticks off the internet then?

GenericDietCola · 21/07/2011 16:27

Oh and sorry about your mc biscuits and about your mum. Is she OK now? Apologies if you don't want to talk about it.

GenericDietCola · 21/07/2011 16:28

Amazon - they're v cheap and you get loads so you can pee away and not feel you're wasting money

NinjaChipmunk · 21/07/2011 16:28

And I can see your point re mc but his folks and my folks are the only ones we'd tell and I think I'd be ok with it.

NinjaChipmunk · 21/07/2011 16:29

and yes, biscuits very sorry re your mc and your mum, thats rotten.

GenericDietCola · 21/07/2011 16:29

Glad you've thought it through ninja and the mental image of ninjaboy is very cute!
