CaveMum · 01/07/2011 07:18

Go Josie!

Do you have a more senior manager or HR department you can file an official complaint with? You've got plenty of witnesses to back you up.

JosieSmith1 · 01/07/2011 12:11

I do Cave but the team manager seems to be on her side, plus I don't really want to make a big deal of it unless it continues. If she changes her attitude I'll let it go but if she doesn't I'll be complaining.

I got a kindle download from amzon and some free books, one of which is "How to stop worrying and live life" and I've got some brilliant affirmations from it. "No-one can humiliate me unless I let him" "Life's too short for little worries" "To be wronged is nothing unless you continue to remember it" I'm going to stop worrying about petty little things. I might not like it but if I just do it and don't let it get to me or dwell on it, I'll be much happier, at least until something better comes along. She isn't going to break me, I don't need her approval and I'm starting to feel comfortable in my own skin and as long as I'm happy with me then she can think what she wants of me Smile

Hope everyone's ok?

Hi Ladies,

This is my first post so hoping you will be able to help me.

We have been TTC for 6 months now. I came off the pill in September and in this time, my cycle has become less regular. It started at 28 days exactly for the first few months and then in March changed to 30 days. I have always had a weak period but last month was exceptionally light (almost to the point of non existant) and only lasted 2 days.

Last month I bought the First Response daily ovulation kits and they ended up being more confusing than helpful as they never convincingly showed me when I ovulated.

In the first and second week I got a second line that was quite strong, but not stronger than the test line. These were 7 days apart. All the other days there was no second line.

In the third week, I had three consecutive days where I had a stronger second line but, again not definitive.

My period was due on Tues (30 days). I took a test yesterday and it was negative but I haven't had period pains (which I get every month).

So my questions are:

  • Has anyone else had the same experience with First Response daily?
  • Could it be possible I didn't ovulate?
  • How many people have had a negative test and then retaken it to find out they are pregnant?
  • How long should I wait to do another test?

Thanks in advance for any help or reassurance you can offer!

Imps7 · 01/07/2011 18:31

Hello MrsSET and welcome!

It can get really confusing - I tried one cycle with ovulation sticks and they just led me up the garden path - they gave me a positive when I didn't ovulate and didn't give me a positive when I did ovulate! Now I just go with EWCM-spotting (luckily I have loads so it's easy to spot) and taking temperatures. Have you had any EWCM? That may tell you whether you have ovulated this month or not.

I have never been pregnant, so cannot vouch for the reliability or otherwise of any tests (although I manage to convince myself each cycle that the tests are lying and I am actually pregnant!!!)

If you think that you have ovulated based on EWCM (it dries up really quickly after ovulation - or it's supposed to at least - bodies have an annoying way of being completely disobedient) I would wait at least 15 days or so after ov to take another test, whenever that might be. If you're not sure whether you have ovulated or not, then I'd probably wait another week before testing again - hopefully the Evil Red Tide of Doom (ERTD) will have either ordained to put in an appearance by then, or you will get your BFP when you test again!

Good luck!

TomboyWife · 02/07/2011 10:56

Morning ladies!

MrsSET I've never used ov kits, but my understanding is that doctors are sceptical of them. As Imps says, the physical signs like EWCM and (in some people) little abdominal cramps on one side are good indicators.

Kiki I'm not 100% sure, but I very much doubt sex can stop implantation.

Josie wow. Grin

MrsSET · 02/07/2011 14:00

Thanks Imps7 and Tomboy wife.. Still no period today. This now day 34 so going to do another test. Will keep you updated.

Will def go onto testing temperature next month and look for the other signs if this month I end up getting my BFP!

Sorry was lost in action, had a month out for holidays :) Am back on it now!

MeconiumHappens(28) TTC#1 Cycle2 UCL 27-31 CD18 AF due 16th July

Could we put the af due dates on the chart as the cd and ucd makes it hard to know who is testing when...my favourite bit :)

JosieSmith1 · 03/07/2011 16:54

Welcome to newbies (waves)

Really really enjoying the sun here! Been out on the lounger pretty much all day, I've never actually done that before ShockBlush Had a lovely nap, then my ipod battery ran out so I woke up, and now I'm on here but I'm getting a drink and then I'm back out again, gotta catch some sun while I can.

Wedding rehearsal went well yesterday, the bride to be is feeling less nervous after it, and we're off to the spa tomorrow (after going to docs to discuss next step in fertility testing) so that'll be another lovely relaxing day GrinGrin I could honestly quit work and be very very happy Grin. The only downside to today was going out for lunch I bumped into a school friend/not really a friend I haven't seen in over 10 years and she has 2 beautiful kids Sad

Hope everyone is ok?

latinolover10 · 03/07/2011 19:48

Can I join your thread all you lovely ladies. I have been ttc since I got married 8 months ago, however, my last cycle was a massive 128 days!!! Referred to gynae and now awaiting blood results and scan results at the end of july. Fx all is ok as i would so love to be a mum. I must say I have to agree with you all that everyone seems to be pregnant at the minute. Its even worse when people who got married after me are now announcing they are pregnant. Will keep you all posted! congrats to all who have had bfp throughout the tread and good luck to everyone else. .... happy shagging!!!!

Jezzabell · 04/07/2011 10:33

Hi All

Well, day 31 and still no AF, I am never this late. I have been having a few feelings, AFish like cramps for the past couple of weeks which i also never get and sore bbs on the sides. I want to take a test, but don't want to waste too much money on them as a bit poor! I was wondering if anyone has any reviews of own brand test that are cheaper and also, how many days late should I wait in order to get a definate answer? Any help greatly apprecited and here's hoping for a BFP :)

TigerseyeMum · 04/07/2011 10:58

Oooh Jezzabell

I used a Tesco budget one and it seemed OK. I had a BFN though (which was correct despite me being at almost day 40) so dunno if it would have picked a a positive. I assume it would.

I am poorly today but determined to keep up the SWI.

ilovetomatoes · 04/07/2011 11:00

AF last week.....grrrrrrr. went out and got sozzled last night, drunkenly told DH to brace himself as I will be going for it like crazy this month :o

Jezzabell fingers crossed for you, sounds promising! I've only used clearblue so can't help with own brand reviews but I think most tests are pretty reliable from when your period is due. How late are you?

Jezzabell · 04/07/2011 11:07

Thanks for the info Tiger. Tomatoes, AF is usally due between 26 and 28 days - it's not been this late since i came off the pill back in September. Well, when I stopped the pill it took 6 weeks for AF to return and since then, the longest it's been is 29 days. So i reckon i am at least 3 days late and it normally only last's 3 days max, so you could say i've definately missed it! Might pop into Boots or Superdrug and pick one up. I'll keep you posted! My sis is currently about 11 weeks pg and I've had all of the same symptoms she did early on, so fingers crossed!

TigerseyeMum · 04/07/2011 11:56

I came off the pill in August and had regular (very regular) periods, then after November went to 40 days then various lengths (from 28-32) until recently when they settled down again.

It could possibly be a pattern amongst long-term pill takers who have come off it. Maybe a period of stability then a period of variable cycle lengths.

I hope it is a BFP though Grin

Jezzabell · 04/07/2011 12:47

Bit the bullet and just went and got a Clear Blue Plus twin back in Wilko for £8. Not bad. Decided i may as well try a recommended branded one and hopefully get an accurate result. Going to do it tonight at home with DH as we both really want to know!

MrsSET · 04/07/2011 12:53

Still no period (now day 36) and this is REALLY unusual for me. Did a second test on Sat and it came back as negative.

Does any one have an experience with how many negative tests they got and for how long until it was confirmed they were actually pregnant?

TomboyWife · 04/07/2011 20:22

MrsSET I remember one Frolicker who was almost a week late before getting a positive, but generally you're very likely to get an accurate result once you're a few days late. That's assuming you ovulated when you usually do, though. Do you have a sense of when that happened this month? Or indeed if it happened this month?

Jezza good luck!

Winkles · 04/07/2011 20:30

Hello all, have been having a little peek at this online for the last few weeks and taking the plunge now! Here's my stats:
Winkles (31) TTC #1 UCL anything between 31-43 days! cycle 5
I know it seems I haven't been trying so long, but due to my long cycles its actually about 8 months and feels like forever! Also, was off the pill for several months before that, just not officially trying. DP and I are both working hard (he just started a new and pretty stressful job) and finding it difficult to muster the energy for the necessary 2-3 times per week.
Does anyone have any advice on whether its too soon to see my GP - was thinking my long irregular cycles might qualify me for some extra attention? (hopefully!)

1sttimetryer · 04/07/2011 20:46

wahooo! sorry to get so excited on here, i have just done my 2nd ever ov test and its come back positive, so its time for me and the hubbie to swi!!! we have been trying to swi every 2-3 days, so far successfully, so fingers crossed this is our month!! because of my long 42-48 day cycles was thinking that possibly i wasnt ovulating so quite a relief finding out that i am :)

TigerseyeMum · 04/07/2011 20:48

Hooray for eggs! Grin

1sttimetryer · 04/07/2011 20:50
