I am 35 in a few months and I have been charting so I'm pretty sure we have been having SWI at the right times. [hmmm] My DH just thinks its due to lack of SWI as most months we only manage it a couple of times just before ovulation Blush I will blame his work hours getting in the way though! Am abit scared to go to the GP to be honest in case they just fob me off as I know it can take up to a year even for fertile couples. Oh what to do? Confused

desperateoldie67 · 17/08/2011 11:50

I'm a great believer in hassling your GP. They are notoriously slow at getting most things done (in my recent experiences on other matters), so the earlier you start, the more likely you are for them to pull their finger out before you're drawing your pension :o

Sorry, that's probably not very helpful - I'm having a shit, shit and double shit day! Don't know what's the matter with me - I just ranted at my departmental head for the last 20 minutes and basically called everyone a c**t and said I wanted to quit! Ooooookay Confused. I'm still having stomach cramps (though no nausea at the minute), and if the old hag is going to get me, I wish she'd bloody get on with it because I'm being a complete and utter bitch today! Blush

Readynow · 17/08/2011 12:17

Thanks Oldie. I think I will go to see my GP sooner rather than later as I may as well get things moving!

Hope your day gets better - I know exactly what you mean about the 'shit, shit & double shit day' as I sometimes get them myself! :o
The cramps could be a good sign for you so fingers crossed.

Lucylucy57 · 17/08/2011 13:15

Readynow - it cant hurt to go and discuss things with the GP. It might help you feel more in control of whats going on and they could be much more helpful than you expect. Fingers crossed for you.

Hope your day gets better desperateoldie67 !

desperateoldie67 · 17/08/2011 13:22

Thanks Lucy. Wish the cramps would ease up. My period isn't due until next Tuesday/Wednesday, and yet I've been cramping like this since Saturday/Sunday (which would have made it about a week after ovulation). WTF is going on? Will I stay sane until next week? How the hell do people live with this for sometimes years on end???! Aaaaaaaaargh! Shock

Lucylucy57 · 17/08/2011 13:29

Oooo, does sound promising, especially if you arent due till next week. Im keeping fingers crossed for you! I understand that it must be driving you crazy not knowing whats happening inside your own body. I would have thought that at this stage in human evolution, we would have developed a far more sophisticated process for conception, birth etc!!!

desperateoldie67 · 17/08/2011 14:07

I've been moody as hell today too - which may be ok for normal people, but as I'm manic depressive anyway, I can't take it as a sign. I skittled a cup of tea at my friend's house yesterday, and then knocked something off the corner of my computer table later on...not particularly usual. I've been having low-level nausea, but that seems to have gone, so who the hell knows, eh?

My boobs are starting to hurt (I think), but then that's probably cos I keep prodding them to see if they are hurting LMAO!!! :o

I saw someone on another thread had said how nice it would be if our stomachs would light up or something to let us know that it had worked! Only need it to do it until we notice...but yeah, it would be helpful! :)

Snowy27 · 17/08/2011 17:20

Good luck desperateoldie

I've just done a very bad thing.... I did a test- and got a BFN- hardly surprising as I'm only 7dpo, but I couldn't help it, it was calling to me from the cupboard!

However on the plus side I'm feeling a bit nauseous all the time and (TMI alert) Mr S says my nipples looked funny, which on further investigation means 'a different colour to normal' so fingers crossed!

desperateoldie67 · 17/08/2011 17:59

I did a bad thing too, and of course got a BFN! I knew it, but I just couldn't help myself

Nausea has abated somewhat, stomach cramps on the other hand, have NOT! Wish they bloody would. Suspect they are a precursur for the curse. I dunno, when I got the temp dip at 7DPO I got all excited and then the nausea and the burping - I'm not generally a burper - I thought I was preggo. Now I'm telling myself I'm not. Who the feck knows, eh? :o

Keeping my fingers (but not my legs) crossed for all of us :)

Snowy27 · 17/08/2011 18:23

The tests are just too tempting.

And surely I should just know if I'm preggers, I mean it is my body and its just mean to make me wait.

Stupid evolution (or intelligent design, or creationism- just wanting to cover all bases here) Angry

desperateoldie67 · 17/08/2011 18:59

It's stupid evolution and bad design all rolled into one! That's my take on it in any case - especially during the 2WW!

Readynow · 18/08/2011 09:18

Had a chat with my DH yesterday & we have decided to give it one more cycle before going to the GP. Hopefully will get lots of SWI in this month! :o
Hope next week brings you so good news oldie!

Lucylucy57 · 18/08/2011 10:00

Awww, sounds like you are having a rough time oldie. Its all too tempting to do a test. When I was pregnant and took my first test at about 4 days late, that didnt get a line in the positive box for about 15mins (I know I should have chucked it after 5 but Im stubborn). I must have done another 10 over the next five days as didnt trust my eyes, the tests, my sanity.

I just keep holding onto the fact that have conceived once and hopefully I can do it again.

Glad you feel more positive readynow after chatting with your DH and getting your plan of action together.

desperateoldie67 · 18/08/2011 10:32

Woke up at 4am for a pee this morning and then couldn't get back to sleep for ages because everytime I turned over I felt sick. Mind you, that could be because I had Sunday's left over roast pork dipped in mustard with a side order of pickled beetroot for dinner last night. And THAT menu, my friends, sounds completely mental when I read it back LOL! :o No wonder I was feeling a bit vomitous!

Thing is, I was (accidentally) pregnant at 18 and the first thing then was the sore boobs, dear god they were painful. My boobs don't feel any worse than they normally do when heading for my period. And the nausea didn't kick in until about 6 weeks previously, but then every pregnancy is different. I'm vigorously telling myself I'm not in order not to be too depressed if I'm not. Not that that is really going to work...

millyv · 18/08/2011 10:43

Morning ladies, do you mind if I join?! oldie sounds like you're having a tough ride of it this week, all promising signs though so fingers crossed for you! I have until Saturday to wait for my a/f but couldn't go any longer without POAS so did a test this morning and it was a BFN, still have sore boobs and a metalic taste in my mouth though so I'm hoping it was just too early... fingers crossed - this TTC is sending me crazy!

desperateoldie67 · 18/08/2011 11:03

Morning milly. I dunno what's up with me. Even if/when I get a BFP I probably shan't believe it LOL!

I don't have a metallic taste, though I think i'm quite happy to pass on that to be honest.

I hear you on the crazy front. I'm going to make another cup of tea and possibly sneak a custard cream from the cupboard! My diet has totally gone out of the window. Ooops Blush

Lucylucy57 · 18/08/2011 11:24

I know how you feel - diet has taken a huge back burner recently.
Keeping my fingers crossed for you milly! Its so tempting to take the tests early. I bought a few at the shop the other day. Dont know why, its like Im silently tourturing myself just by having them. I may as well be sticking pins in my eye. How long have you been trying milly?

J4D3 · 18/08/2011 11:47

Good morning (nearly afternoon) all. Hope you don't mind me jumping on the wagon? I've been a lurker for months and this is my first post .. Been TTC for just over a year and my God it's getting stressful! I've bitten the bullet and decided to join because I feel like I need the support!

Lucylucy57 · 18/08/2011 11:56

Hello J4D3! How are you managing with it all? It must have seemed like a very long year for you.
I lurked for a good while too but then jumped in. It does help and I didnt always want to talk to my family/friends about things. Kind of felt I was harping on a bit.
By rights I should be compiling a project report right now but as you can see, not managing to knuckle down too well.

J4D3 · 18/08/2011 12:22

Hey Lucy thanks for the reply. The year hasn't been too bad, Only stopped the pill in June 2010 and my wonderful body has presented me with cycles of 28, 38, 49, 83 (!) and 2 x 53. WHAT THE HELL!? So there hasn't really been many opportunities for SWI the past 12 months.

My family aren't making it easy for us, the usual "we didn't have any problems" just echoes every time children are mentioned. The DH has been great, he's a very laid back guy so there's no chance of him getting stressed out any time soon.

I'm hoping that quitting my stress hole job and finally putting weight back on (had a BMI of 18 in May) will help me balance out a little bit!

Now I've got a house move of 100 miles southward to deal with... oh the joy.

I'm keeping my boney fingers crossed for eveyonehere!

millyv · 18/08/2011 12:29

Hi! This is our 7th cycle of trying now, I had no idea it would be so hard - especially as everyone around me seems to get pregnant at the first sight of the husband/partner/one night stand! It definately sends you a little loopy, I was told about MN and watched for a while and then bit the bullet yesterday and joined, it does make me feel more 'normal' realising what I'm going through other people are too! Definately not going to keep any more tests in the house and will go out and buy one if I need to, they totally make you use them if they are in the bathroom cupboard! Good Luck everyone!

Lucylucy57 · 18/08/2011 12:31

Oh bless you! You sound so stressed and what a totally mixed bag of cycles! Not surprised you dont know which way is up. As you say, your stressy job wont have helped either your cycle or your weight. Once the house move is out of the way, things will calm. Its cant have been easy with one thing on top of the other. Thank goodness for calm DH's. My boyfriend has the patience of a saint with my control freak nature. He does very well!

Lucylucy57 · 18/08/2011 12:38

millyv - it is hard to see friends and family try with apparent ease to get pregnant. I seem to have a very well practiced 'congratulations' face now when hearing of new pregnancies.

millyv · 18/08/2011 12:38

Oh J4D3 fingers crossed after the move and lack of stressful job you will relax a little get your weight where you want and hopefully your cycles will settle down for you. I know its easier said than done though! Good luck with everything!

millyv · 18/08/2011 12:47

lucylucy57 it was very naive of me but I really didn't think I'd have a problem TTC - no idea why I thought this but as everyone else seemed to be able to get pregnant I thought I would be no different! You never know it could be one of our turns next!
