Can I join too? waves in new girl manic fashion

I came off of mini pill (Micronor) just over 8 weeks ago and AF is practically clockwork already. Have had 2 AF since stopping pill (on day 2 of 2nd one) so TTC will begin in earnest after the weekend ;)

kilburnfrenchie · 07/07/2011 13:35

Congrats to Jezzabell and likelucklove! AF right on time so feeling bit dispondant after a LOT of well timed action with hubby Grin. Bah humbug. Going to harrass NHS to see if i can't get them to actually offer some treatment rather than leaving me on a wait list for another 4 months. Hmm

CaveMum · 07/07/2011 13:45

More newbies!

Imps I'm posting on my phone so can't put up a link, but if you go into the Ante-Natal Clubs forum you'll see the Grads thread which has "First Time Frolickers" in the title.

I'm trying not to think too much about my op! To be honest I'm not worried about the op itself (even though I've never been in hospital before let alone had a general anaesthetic!), more concerned about what they'll find. I'm a pessimist by nature and keep having horrible thoughts that they'll tell me my reproductive organs are screwed up!
I don't have a time for the op, I've been told to arrive at 7am and wait! Going to make sure I take lots of books, my iPod and my fully charged phone!

Quiet afternoon here!

I'm pleased to report (via the Grads thread) that HighHeels had a baby girl yesterday morning. No name as yet, but I'm sure it will be along in due course!

Welcome buggerlugs. God, that sounds horrible. Hope it all goes well.

Hmmm... I'm on CD28 today, which I think is 14 or 15 dpo (my first cycle off the pill in 3 and a half years.) Seemed like I ovulated around CD 13/ 14, though I can't be certain.

All those weird PG-like (but probably pill withdrawal) symptoms seem to have stopped now, but no AFish signs- cramps/ irritability etc either. Just slightly tender nipples. Plus a big headache- but I reckon that's stress/ work related as I'm completely overworked at the mo.

When would you guys test? I have no idea of the true length of my cycle 'cos of the pill. I used to be very regular & monthly before I went on it, and also when I had a bit of a break a few years ago. One thing that worries me though is when I came off microgynon I had a shocker of a heavy monster period. Never had anything like it in my life. Hope that doesn't happen again.

Don't really think I'm PG (probably didn't BD near enough to O)- would be happy if AF comes just to know that things appear to be working.

X

TomboyWife · 07/07/2011 22:08

Cavey I've had a general anaesthetic several times. It's nothing to worry about at all. They'll tell you the drug is starting to take effect, and two seconds later (as far as you can tell) you'll wake up in recovery. It's like being asleep except you have no sense at all of passing time.

Kiki a test will be pretty accurate from about 14 dpo, so if you still haven't got AF, you could go for it and be reasonably assured of getting the right answer.

JosieSmith1 · 07/07/2011 23:01

Ladies please can you suggest the best site for tracking dates and ovulation? I want to be all ready to go when af comes. All the pg symptoms I was having seem to have disappeared now so must have been side effect from coming off the pill. Dh is still keen that we test just in case -bless him.

Also do I need to buy a special thermometer? And do I get them from high street chemist?

KikiRC · 09/07/2011 08:54

Morning, ladies.

Sorry- PollyRoxs, I've never charted O- but I think it's Fertility Friend that a lot of people use?

Still no AF (CD 16/17). As I don't think PG is all that likely I was thinking of trying the cheap Poundland tests- I've heard that they're actually quite accurate, it's just that they're paper strips (like they use at the hospital) rather than the studier plastic ones.

Anyone had any experience of using these?

X

KikiRC · 09/07/2011 08:54

Sorry- I meant 16/17 dpo- CD 30.

TigerseyeMum · 09/07/2011 09:37

Fab news about HighHeels :)

We are slap bang in the middle of the crucial time. And of course, there are loads of demands on our time so fitting in a quick SWI is proving a challenge. Happens every month! Hmm

CaveMum · 09/07/2011 09:54

FertilityFriend seems to be the most popular site to use forctracking ovulation, etc.
You will need a Basal Body Thermometer - it needs to be digital and accurate to 0.1 of a degree.

I bought mine from Access Diagnostics online (they often throw in a few free ovulation and pregnancy tests). You can buy the thermometers in Boots but they are quite pricey, about £19 compared to the £4 I paid online!

BFN on Poundland test today, circa 16 dpo. I'm hoping that AF comes this weekend, then I'll know my cycle hasn't been too messed around...

Signet2012 · 09/07/2011 13:08

Hi All,

I am pretty new on here, TTC first time too :)

Not completely sure about my cycle length it was always so regular until the last 3 months! Think it knows I need to count it!

am paying more attention now!

Signet (28) TTC #1 AF due 26th July ish

PollyRoxs · 09/07/2011 19:24

Thanks CaveMum I have placed an order for thermometer and pg tests too. Think i will be needing a few of those!Wink I have registered with fertility friend too. So once af makes an appearance I will be ready.

Let the charting begin.

Cloclo15 · 10/07/2011 10:50

Hi all,

Appt has been moved yet again, and now I'm going in Tuesday morning. Very annoyed as I'm having to mess work about so much - I don't know why they can't make an appt and stick to it!

Anyway, starting to feel very nervous about what we might find out. I'm prepared that we might find out my progesterone levels are low, I just really don't want there to be anything wrong with DH too, as it would seem like a much bigger obstacle. This TTC stuff is so exhausting :(

CaveMum · 10/07/2011 13:08

Cloclo the tests etc are very stressful and you will find yourself overwhelmed at times - I know for the last few months I seem to get very emotional at the drop of a hat.

However, you have to tell yourself that it is all for a good reason. Better to find out if there is a problem so that you can take steps to improve your chances.

Positive thinking, however trite you might find it (I know I did) does actually help. You can't let yourself be dragged down by the "what if's".

Just de-lurking briefly from keeping an eye on you FTFs to wish Cavemum well tomorrow. I'll be thinking of you & hoping that the whole thing goes smoothly, there are no hidden nasty surprises & that after you recover it's all systems go for you & Mr Cave Wink I look forward to hearing your progress from my lurking position! Grin

I'll be at the hospital myself tomorrow (not quite as early as you Cave!) for my booking-in. I still don't quite believe I'm pg due to not feeling any different at all, apart from a bit more fatigued than usual... It really is all very strange & surreal and sometime I genuinely do forget that it's happening!

Good luck with it all ladies, Cavemum kicked off a mightily fertile thread & long may it continue! Grin

Karstan · 10/07/2011 17:40

Follow up appointment for me on Tuesday where I'm hoping the news is going to be all systems go Grin

Will be somewhere around CD 9/10 then so can get straight on with it as it were Wink. Couldn't have arranged the appointment better if I'd tried

Cloclo15 · 10/07/2011 19:00

Thanks Cave - I know I need to think positively, but can't help getting a bit stomach lurchy every now and then when I think about it. I'm sure you know what I mean. Good luck for tomorrow - I hope it goes smoothly for you
