Come on ladies - you know who you are Grin.......

OP posts:
Pocket1 · 28/09/2011 21:08

Hi everyone

Sorry for radio silence again - laptop meltdown. DP got us a new one today as i felt really out of touch with you all and he felt so sorry for me...

Looks like lots has been going on...

Italian i am so so delighted for you. 8 eggs - wow!!! do you have a date for transfer yet?

lol i feel your pain - sore feet always puts me in a bad mood. hope they're feeling better now...

Angel i'm so excited for you - bet you cant wait to meet the new little one.

I've got my donor - it was a complete and utter miracle that she appeared when she did and we're a good match!

i'm on week 3 of my mock cycle - week 1 was 1 x progynova twice a day (which didn't work), week 2 was 2 x progynova twice a day (which also didn't work). So now i'm on 2 x progynova twice a day PLUS 2 x Evorel patches (on my backside which i'm not loving). Fingers crossed this works.

has anyone been on this combo? just wanted to check symptoms as i was woken up mid night by bad period type cramps - worse than anything i've had before. any thoughts gratefull received.

Sending lots of love and luck to everyone

x

Italiangreyhound · 28/09/2011 21:55

angelgeorgie 18 Oct, just a few more weeks, I am so very excited for you. You so much deserve this. I second Lol put those feet up and relax Brew Brew, are you on maternity leave yet?

Lol wonder if you are actually a very glamorous person, working in heels!

Tina Sorry you have had a pain of it with your clinic Angry. I would have said ?... a cock up at a fertility clinic... .? was absolutely essential! Wink

Pocket how fab that you have a match already, that is so fast, Are you in the UK or overseas (don?t say if you don?t want to). How long was the wait? Seems to have flown by! For me was 7 eggs pocket but that is still brilliant as I was not producing any good ones by myself. As I am in the UK at a UK clinic we are sharing our eggs between two people so I was very glad to get 7. Sorry can?t advise on the cramps. I do have pesseries and apparently these can produce cramps so best to ask your clinic/consultant.

Hippy enjoy the beach.

Diege, angelgeorgie thanks for asking Wink. The eggs are usually placed in a Petri dish with the sperm but in some cases (and in ours) ICSI is used (Intracytoplasmic sperm injection ? according to Wikipedia this is when ?...hollow glass micropipette is used to collect a single sperm, having immobilised it by cutting its tail with the point of the micropipette. The micropipette is pierced through the oolemma and into the inner part of the oocyte (cytoplasm). The sperm is then released into the oocyte...? Then the next day the patient is told how many have fertilised, it might be that some eggs are immature and some simply don?t fertilise. Then another day later the best fertilized egg is (or the best two are) put back in. Then it?s a 16 day wait, not sure why it is more than two weeks!

Hugs to all Thanks

AngelGeorgie · 28/09/2011 22:55

Thanks Italian for the explanation. So, now a 16 day wait. How exciting.., big FX
What date will anything happen next?
18 days to go for us , as my DH keeps telling me!!!
Hi Pocket sounds like things are progressing got you also. Best wishes for you xxxx

AngelGeorgie · 28/09/2011 22:59

Oh sorry forgot to answer; not on mat leave yet back at work on Monday for a week then finish on 7 th October.
Lol I feel your pain, though you re a better woman than me !!! I remember the relief when upon returning from a night out and taking my " stillies" off & that was only after wearing them for about 8 hours!!! I admire you wearing them all day at work!! Xx
Rest your poor aching feet now xxxGrin

hopefulgum · 29/09/2011 00:13

Great news Italian - when will the fertilization and transfer take place?

Hippy, so sorry it doesn't feel like your month. Has your temperature gone down? As long as it is up, then that's a good sign. How much more clomid do you have? Will you take it again?

Lol, I've just ordered some DHEA on the net. I don't know if it'll do me any good, because a) it isn't micronised and b)I won't be taking Gonadtropin (or what ever it was)with it and c) I'll take 50mg a day and see how I react.
Even if not for my eggs, I've heard I'll feel younger on it - apparently side effects include oily skin and I have very dry skin and hair since the last miscarriage (due to my depleted Yin according to my acupuncturist), so perhaps it'll improve on DHEA. I'm willing to try it, and if it doesn't agree with me then I'll just stop.

Nice to hear from you Pocket. It's great news about your donor too.

Angel, you are getting so close! It's so exciting. Make sure you get plenty of rest before GILS arrives.

Lol -You did well to wear heels at all - I gave away wearing heels to work about 5 years ago. My best mate at work wears them daily and never has any trouble, but it's been a life-long thing for her! Plus she is tiny. I think putting all my weight onto heels is just asking for trouble!

How are you other preggy girls going?

Well, I've done 3 days straight of work and had to have a couple of glasses of champagne last night to wind down! It's not very taxing doing "relief"('substitute' or 'supply') teaching, though some of the kids like to try it on with me. Only two more days and then it's two weeks off. Yay.

So, I had better go and get organised (it's morning over here, and I start work in an hour and a half!).

I'm loving these flowers Thanks!

Diege · 29/09/2011 12:06

Hello! Hope your day isn't too stressful Gum - what age is it that you teach? I also think it won't do any harm at all to take your supplements and , as you say, if they don't suit you can stop.
Pocket that is good news. Let us know how things progress x
Italian thanks for the explanation - it all seems to have happened really quickly although I know it hasn't been like that in the least! Are you managing to relax, or are you in a state of frenzy (as I think I would be!).
Angel 17 days now, oh my goodness where has your pregnancy gone Grin I feel sluggishly behind now! Not sure what's going on here position/size-wise, but am seeing the consultant this afternoon to hopefully firm up birth plans. If he (the bean) is still transverse I'm not sure what they'll do - possible review then book a section??? Confused
Hippy how are things temp/spotting-wise? You must be feeling pretty wiped out with it all Sad.
BB hope you're feeling a little better with the meds x
Love to all, D x

AngelGeorgie · 29/09/2011 14:29

Diege hope you get on ok at your appointment? You re only a few weeks behind aren t you? That's only because I m
only going to 37 weeks .
Gum you re nearly there at the end of your week.
Hi all xxx

Italiangreyhound · 29/09/2011 16:50

Hi all Wink Thanks Brew

Trying to keep track, who is doing what??

Who is on the bench aside from BB, Angelgeorgie andDiege?

How are you all?

TTT thinking of you, honey, and hoping you are enjoying your life with hubby and M.

Hugs to Fireflies, lol, hippy, Hopefulgum, Pocket, Curly, Jolls, Shandy and Tina.

Panshe any news on the wedding?

Thanks for all your good thoughts/prayers and cares.

Well, five of our eggs fertilised! Grin Grin Grin Grin Grin

Hugs to you ladies. Yes Diege it has happened quite fast but to be honest the clinic did tell us it could be that quick but I guess I couldn?t quite believe it! When you are waiting it is all just guess work, then once a donor is identified, it all ratchets up a gear and starts to happen but it is all still dependant on the biology. A bit like in other cases you don?t know exactly when you will ovulate etc! Well I never did!

Watching Jeremy Kyle. It is so weird, all these guys coming out who look about 15 and are fathers or might be fathers to these girls? babies.

AngelGeorgie · 29/09/2011 17:47

Yeh Italian brilliant news. So happy and excited for you xx Grin

BeattieBow · 29/09/2011 19:54

wow italian that's fantastic news! Sorry this is a stupid question, but are the fertilised eggs now put into you and you have the dreaded 2ww? How many eggs will they use? (BB shows her shameful ignorance Blush)

hippy sorry it wasn't your month.

AngelGeorgie I can't believe you are so close!

Pocket I don't think we've "spoken", but what's next for you now?

diege I have some cyclazine! It's fantastic and I managed to go to work today. I have a question thhough... It only works for a couple of hours, and I am only allowed to take 3 doses a day. I wondered if you took both Cyclazine and metroclopramide? If so, what doses? My dr said NOT to take them both, but I think I read on here that lots of people do. Of course I feel very guilty now for taking this stuff, and the dr noted that I agreed a disclaimer that I bear any risks, so now I'm worrying. But still I managed to sit upright today for the first time in nearly a week.

AngelGeorgie · 29/09/2011 22:18

Yes very close BB scarily so. Just want it to be NOW!!! It's lovely being off work this week however, it has dragged which is nice in 1 way but I just want the next 2 weeks to whizz by now!!! However, I back at work on Monday so that will help. Glad you re feeling better. As a prescriber I would be inclined to say NO you shouldn t take 2 anti- emetics together but you need to double check with who ever prescribed them. Hopefully you ll be ok on what ever you re on now ( was it cyclizine or maxalon??? Can t remember!!!) xxx
How many weeks are you now?

AngelGeorgie · 29/09/2011 22:19

Oh just seen you had checked with your dr.

hopefulgum · 29/09/2011 23:59

Phew! It's my last day (for a couple of weeks) and I'm feeling knackered. DH went out with his department, then phoned me at 11.30 to say he wasn't coming home (woke me) then arrived home later and woke me, then I woke at 5 am! It's going to be a long day. Hopefully won't be too taxing. I teach High school kids, Deige. I love teaching, and it's been fun getting back into it, but yesterday I had one psycho lad get very upset and swear at me simply because I asked him to get off facebook and do his English work! All in a day's work...

Italian, that is just fabulous news that you have 5 embies! Woo- Hoo!

Beattie _ I'm glad the drugs are helping. How's you DH? I hope things are getting better in that department.

Gosh, I'm feeling so sluggish, don't know how on earth I'll get DS to daycare this morning. He just wants to vege in front of the telly, and who can blame him?Grin

Diege · 30/09/2011 09:00

Morning Smile. BB great news on getting the cyclizine. You will find that it builds up in your system so that the few hrs it works gradually seem to last longer. Don't be tempted to cut back on doses when you feel that happen (common problem). I hadn't heard about taking along with your other meds, so can't really advise. Safety-wise (on their own) the 2 meds you've got are the absolute safest available - no reported side effects on baby and they've been around 60 years. So don't worry on that score!
Gum, phew, sounds exhausting, esp the dh waking you bit - think I would be a bit Angry but then it doesn't take much...I am in awe of anyone who teaches secondary school level; not sure I could deal with the behaviour, though sadly the same issues are creeping into Higher ed.
Well, had quite an eventful afternoon at the hospital yesterday. Appointment fine - baby seems pretty average for 34/5 weeks (Consultant's words were 'well it's not massive for 34 weeks (which was our worry after ds who was) which I am taking to mean it's average!). Spd was diagnosed from my 'gait' Hmm bp a little high, but ok. I then happened to mention there had been a change in pattern in baby's movements (though was still very active) and took up the consultant's offer of popping down to the day care unit for a bit of monitoring. Baby's ECG absolutely normal with lots of movement (71 in 1 hr!) but they were concerned about my heart rate which was 129-141...Now I always have a high heart rate in pregnancy, and do feel quite breathless, but I think that's normal for me. They weren't convinced though and thought I might have a dvt, so send for for an ECG there and then. All seemed ok, but I do have tachacardia, which seems unexplained. I had the choice of staying in for 'bed rest', which I must say did seem an attractive option Grin until I realised I wouldn't get much of that on labour ward...
Anyway, feeling fine today, though pulse still racing!

hopefulgum · 30/09/2011 11:24

Deige - that sounds a little worrying, but then again sounds like you are okay with it? Will you be monitored closely? I hope everything will be alright. I'm glad the baby is doing well.

I expect you'll be glad when your little one is earthside.

I'm shattered. Bloody DH very tired after his shenanigans last night, and has crawled into bed for a nap! I'm cross, because I'll soldier on, cook dinner, put kids to bed, and promptly fall asleep in front of the telly, whilst he'll enjoy a nice dinner and watch a bit of telly in peace.Angry However it won't deter me from wearing a vest in the next few days as I edge closer to O time. But I'm not ttc or anything...He's still being lazy in the contraception department, so Hopefulgum is still a little "hopeful"...

Oh, must run, noew I have to wipe DS's bottom...lovely...

Italiangreyhound · 30/09/2011 15:05

BB, Shandy, Angelgeorgie, Fireflies, gillyglops, lol, Panshe, hippy, Hopefulgum, Diege, Soothe, Hairy, Pocket, Curly, Jolls, TTT, Shandy, Tina and Mitzimaybe and Nicole hugs to all.

Ladies, can?t quite believe it but we are there, on the two week wait! They put two lovely embies back in.

They are Paschal and Cielo!

The remaining three were not of a suitable grade to freeze but they were all still moving on and developing. So the clinic staff agreed to freeze them, after telling me about 10 times that there were no guarantee! One was the right number of cells but a low grade, anther was a slightly higher grade but not quite as many cells as they would like and the third was a total underdog. The clinic knew we were very keen to freeze if there were any embies to freeze and I basically spoke to the embryologist and said can we just give them a go, so they agreed to freeze all three. I?ve done lots of research on the internet and was encouraged to see this. If interested go down to the bottom of the page to see Case 3.

www.ivf-indiana.com/education/embryo-assessment.html

This patient had approximately 50% fragmentation in an 8 cell embryo and delivered a very healthy child.

Also

?Ultimately, the true test of embryo quality is whether it implants and develops normally and eventually goes home from the hospital with mom and dad. In other words, embryo grading systems are imperfect, and we always need the pregnancy test, and the final pregnancy outcome, to tell us more about "embryo quality" than a microscope could ever reveal.?

Just doing a bit of research what to drink on the two week wait.

See the fourth post

www.carefertility.com/ivf/viewtopic.php?t=54976

And see this drink

sportsmedinfo.net/painmeds-supplements/48-otc-supplements/239-vita-coco-coconut-water-natural-electrolyte-drink

No I do NOT work for this company!

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Electrolyte

Rehydration

In oral rehydration therapy, electrolyte drinks containing sodium and potassium salts replenish the body's water and electrolyte levels after dehydration caused by exercise, excessive alcohol consumption, diaphoresis, diarrhea, vomiting, intoxication or starvation. Athletes exercising in extreme conditions (for three or more hours continuously e.g. marathon or triathlon) who do not consume electrolytes risk dehydration (or hyponatremia).[1]

A simple electrolyte drink can be home-made by using the correct proportions of water, sugar, salt, salt substitute for potassium, and baking soda.[2]

Electrolytes are commonly found in fruit juices, coconut water, sports drinks, milk, and many fruits and vegetables (whole or in juice form) (e.g. potatoes, avocados).

So maybe I'll just try a glass of milk! That's got the protein too! I certainly won't be making a homemade drink with salt!! Yuk!

Diege · 30/09/2011 15:42

Wow Italian that clinic doesn't mess around does it! Brilliant news (and about the frosties too). How are you feeling? I think I might just stick to a glass of milk too (salt, eww!!!).
Gum yes, I feel ok about the heart thing as it feels just like I did when pregnant with the others, so don't really think there's much of a problem. If it was the baby though I'd be going crazy with worry. Meant to add too that he's now turned to oblique (head down but sort of off centre/diagonal) so at least heading in the right direction. Oh and my dh is just the same as your's - stays up late watching tv, has a lie-in, then refreshed again for late night staying up while I drift off to bed at 9...

AngelGeorgie · 30/09/2011 15:55

Go Paschal & Cliedo wow Italian things are certainly happening now at some speed. When will you test? So hope this is sucessful. Xxx
Diege sounds a bit crappy though at least , I guess, it's not a new problem & is being monitored. Xx

AngelGeorgie · 30/09/2011 15:57

Meant cielo !!! go , go , go little embies!!!
GrinGrinGrin

Italiangreyhound · 30/09/2011 16:43

Diege sorry I meant to say all the best with your treatment and hope it will all work out fine, you said you had some problems with the others, did it all go fine?

Angelgeorgie my test date is your due date, 18 Oct!!! They make you wait but if it is a no I would probably get a period before that.

AngelGeorgie · 30/09/2011 18:09

How exciting Italian let's hope the 18 th is a good day for both of us. Only 2.5 weeks !!! I ll keep my fingers tightly crossed for you xxx

Diege · 30/09/2011 18:32

Gosh the 18th has taken on a wonderful significance! A snug bank holiday at the least I'd say Grin
Italian I'm not seeing the tachycardia as a problem as such. I know I had it with the other pregnancies, though it was never spotted, and I never offered the info', so just something for me to keep an eye on. Dr. on unit wasn't too concerned as my chest was clear and my heart rhythm even.
I am ordering a special bistro meal in celebration of Italian's pregnancy - over-baked cod with side order of sweet potato mash and lots of garlic bread. Followed by home made icecream and a big slice of lemon merangue pie. Mmmmm....

Italiangreyhound · 30/09/2011 20:20

Angelgeorgie yes, roll on 18th.

Diege so glad that all is well.

I've have Chinese sticky spare ribs and willow fish, Jasmine rice and followed by banana fritters, and all washed down with no alcohol beer and green tea!

Love and hugs to all!

Pocket1 · 30/09/2011 21:11

Hello lovely ladies

Italian i hope youre 16 day wait passes quickly - if that's even possible - i hope youre more patient than me Blush

i'm in the UK - i know i've been very lucky to get a quick match. a total miracle if i'm honest. i hadnt even finished the paperwork and pre-tests - even the team at the clinic said it was a very lucky/speedy match!

Hello BB Lovely to make your acquaintance Grin. I'm on week 3 of my mock cycle (really hope this combo works). back for another scan on Tuesday. then i think they sync up me and the donor... not sure how long it will all take though. can't happen soon enough!

Hi to everyone else wishing for lots of good news, bumps and baminos for everyone.

xxx

hopefulgum · 30/09/2011 23:47

Wow Italian! That was speedy. So excited for you. Will you test before the 18th, or wait serenely and patiently for the beta test? Relax and enjoy this two week wait - you have embies in there!Smile

Deige, I'm glad you aren't too worried. And glad to hear your little boy is doing the right thing and heading downwards.

Hippy - are you around? How are you doing? Will you take clomid again this month?

Did you see the thread on Manuka honey? Apparently it's the new fertility supplement. I've used it before for healing wounds. But in this case, you take it internally. It supposedly helps better blood flow in the body, so the theory is more blood flow through the reproductive area - which is what us oldies need. Don't know if I'm going to try it. I think I need to do more yoga. It's just hard to find the time, and Charlie always wants to join in and sit on me!

It may be a little late for the snug, but I'm hankering after some gnocchi with three cheeses, and a nice lemon tart with vanilla bean icecream for dessert. Then I'll finish with a glass of pedro ximenez sherry. Oh, heaven...
