Ooh it's so good to be back, you are all so funny! Sorry to be a bore, I've got the gist of roughly when you're all due but could I have an update? I'm guessing that my closest buddy is MrsB?

I'm sorry if this has already been discussed but who's had the flu jab? I read a thread from last year and heated isn't the word! I was planning to have it...

wombatinwaiting · 24/09/2011 18:12

Afternoon ladies. Hope you are having restful weekends - how are you getting on with your homemade tubigrip worm? Hope it does the trick and that ds flies thru his exams.

I don't know anyone who has massaged other than on the mn pg threads where there seems to be a mixed reaction. Do google the epi no and see what you think. Not sure I could get one delivered to dubai though!

Hows the pillow experimenting going yellow? Thanks for asking about the back - definitely better from taking it easier this weekend. Generally feeling less supple though which I'm not enjoying. Have been meaning to ask how your daughter's movement are feeling to you these days? Love being able to write your daughter!

Sparkly - told dh about your wonderful pendulous milking cow expression and he loved it so much he keeps going on about getting on all fours!!he roared with laughter!

Kool - tis indeed good gossip on here! I'm currently 31 weeks and I'll leave it to the others to fill you in on their dates as I lost track on the spreadsheet a while ago!

Nurse - best of luck with the countdown and do keep us up to date!

Went to a fab 2 hour breastfeeding workshop today and feeling so much more confident about the whole thing. Wonderful uk midwife wih loads of experience. Feel as if I know loads more now so if you ladies have any qus, I might be able to answer them - I stress might!

Wormshuffler · 24/09/2011 18:47

Good to have you back too kool how is dh? I am due early Jan, yellow is late Jan harassed is mid decemberish as is sparkly I think. Star must be around Feb time?

Havn't done tubagrip thingy yet as it is a little better today. I think all the constant getting in and out the car for my job agravates it as 2 days off and it is much better thanks wombat .

Ds got to the end of his exam with time spare to check it. If he hasn't passed I won't be worupset as it just means the school wouldn't suit him. He has given it his all and we are so proud .

wellieboots · 25/09/2011 06:39

Hello ladies!

Just a quick catch up - really busy finishing my last hand in for this module - 4 months off study after this - Woohoo!! Plenty of time for SWI after that Grin

Congrats on team pink yellow!! Fab news!
Welcome back kool, congrats, I had heard your news as I lurked one night on the IVF thread when I was getting really worried :(
worm hope you are feeling better and can get some sleep
Good to hear from you wombat, we were worried!!!
and great to hear from nurse and mana - proves that we will all get there :)

We are doing OK, taking a break for next couple of months as we want to come back to UK in June for my grandma's 80th. Waiting for the fertility specialist referral - hopefully by end of year if we haven't got lucky by then :)

wombatinwaiting · 25/09/2011 10:10

Well done worm on all the updating of dates - you can be spreadsheet queen from now on! Glad that the soreness etc. is a bit better. Is there any way you can adjust the way you get in and out of the car? your clever ds having time to spare! I v much like your attitude towards the whole thing.

Fab to hear from you wellie and it sounds as if you and DH are being very sensible in your approach to SWI and all that jazz. We will have to get this thread busier so that we get to the new thread quicker for you to start, which as we all know is a guarantee of a bfp! Glad that you have some time off for the next 4 months.

Yellow - I think it was you who asked if I was excited.... the honest answer is not as much as I think I should be. I have a lot of anxieties about the whole responsibility thing, being too soft a mother (I haven't been at all strict with our lovely new pooch who is a bit naughty at times), how our lives will change etc. etc. - weirdly not too anxious about the birth (maybe I will post ante-natal classes!). I still struggle to equate the kicks inside with a real life baby and shopping for stuff still feels a bit like I'm just going through the motions. I'm not sick with anxiety, it's almost ambivalence. I really would like to be more excited than I am - am I really weird?

koolforcats · 25/09/2011 17:29

Aw worm, thanks for asking, he's still having treatment, it's going to be going on for some time unfortunately Sad. He's incredibly brave. It's lovely for both of us to have April to look forward to. Although wombat I think I'm feeling similar to you - I'm so delighted to be pg but it all still seems a bit abstract at the moment, rather than an actual reality.

Wellie bless you for worrying too, how kind. Were you lurking on the ivf thread for ivf info btw? I've just spent some time reading back over the last few months and I'm sorry that you've been having to go through all the tests. Obviously a natural bfp is what we all want but if you were to need to go down the assisted conception route it's really not too bad. In fact I quite liked handing the whole thing over to the experts as it was out of my hands that way. If you want to know anything about it, I have become quite the expert! I do of course hope that you get your bfp before it gets to that of course.

Yellow yes I did have 2 scans at my clinic before being handed back to the NHS for my 12 week scan, which did help with the mentalling. They were at 6 and 10 weeks.

However....since my 12 week scan I have been mentalling obsessively somewhat....my nuchal measurement was 2.3mm and since reading back this thread, that's much higher than anyone else's (I think you were all under 2mm?). I've of course been googling and it's considered to be the high end of normal. DH did point out that we haven't had an early phone call (which they do if they're worried) so I'm hoping that the letter will arrive ASAP and will set my mind at risk but I cant help worrying a lot in the meantime Shock

wombatinwaiting · 26/09/2011 08:19

Well remembered indeed worm - hope you and DH are holding up ok kool - as you say, something positive to focus on is good. Re: the nuchal measurement - it is only one factor they take into consideration and you are still within normal range. To help set your mind at rest, can you call them and ask when you could expect the results? I still think it's criminal they have you wait so long for them so sending hugs.

I have less than 3 weeks left at work - eek! Feeling very much like the end of an era as I have been with the company over 7 years (2 years in the UK and 5 years here).....

Had a v reassuring chat with DH last night about how I've been feeling and he thinks it's perfectly normal and not to try and fight the way I feel or pretend that I feel differently. Felt better just having the chat with him and more positive about junior in general so not heading off to the asylum just yet!

yellowtomato · 26/09/2011 09:06

Morning all!

Quite a chatty weekend, good work ladies!

wombat really glad you are feeling better, I think all and any feelings are 'normal' right now. Our bodies are going through enormous transformations and we (esp us first timers) are grappling with the idea of how much our lives will change. Mostly will be good, some challenging but most just totally unknown territory. So I'd say it is normal to have all sorts of feelings squishing about. I'd love to hear more about the breastfeeding......there are classes at the hospital but i wasn't sure if you were meant to go in advance or when you already have a baby to practice with. Thought it would be embarrassing if i turned up and everyone else had a baby with them!
Movements are feeling like gentle big bubbles of air, usually only when I'm sitting still or laying down. DP could feel them for the first time at the weekend which was lovely. I haven't managed to sort out sleeping yet, I keep starting off on my side but it's just not comfortable, I can't get to sleep so end up on my back. I saw my Auntie on Friday and was telling her about it so she offered to buy me the dreamgenii, so I've ordered it and will let you know how I get on!

kool as wombat says that measurement is only one factor and (according to my hospital anyway) they get on the phone to you pretty quickly if there is an issue. I found the wait for the letter agonizing too but maybe you can try and ring them if that would help? I couldn't believe that they sent me my scan appts for 5 months and 8 months first class but sent the nuchal results second class, what's that all about? It wasn't exactly urgent to know I am having a scan on 29th Dec but I would have liked to have the scan results a few days earlier. How long ago did you have the scan? And of course Aries are great........that's me! Grin

wellie good to hear from you, sounds like you have a positive plan. Fingers crossed for you that nature comes good or you get to the next testing stage.

worm glad you're feeling a bit better. do you need to practice the celebrity getting in and out of the car style so you swing both legs together, that's what the physio at the hospital recommended.

sparkly how you getting on with your olive oil? According to the yoga lady you are meant to put two fingers inside but not further than your second finger joint. And off you go massaging and stretching........she didn't actually give us a demo but those were the instructions. I'm still not sure if it is a horrible joke or could actually be quite useful. But you're not meant to start until 6 weeks before the birth so no rush. The rate i'm going I wonder if I'll be able to even reach my hoo ha by then.

Hmm that's probably enough smutty talk for a Monday morning!

wombatinwaiting · 27/09/2011 19:06

Gaaaah! Lost post after hitting the off key instead of the escape key on the laptop - doh!

Gist of it was clearly you have put people on with your smutty talk Grin and thanks for your reassuring words yellow - it's good to hear from you as well as DH. Put down lots of info on b/feeding here but I will post again tomorrow/thurs as it's late now and mega busy day tomorrow..... yay for DP feeling yellowbean!

Any news in the post yet kool? Hope you're hanging in there.

Had final scan today and all seems to be well - boringly average on all the scales, but I'll take boring any day! Weight is around 1.9kg which seems quite astonishing..... wombatjunior is head down already and sonographer said they tend to stay that way. We got to see junior in 3d too and he looked much better i.e. plumper this time around although was hiding a lot behind his arm despite much jiggling by me and sonographer. I thought I heard him say the word "phallus" to his assistant but I could be mistaken - hope it wasn't that as we're so keen to keep it a surprise....

Leaves white twixes for all - they are on special here at the mo!

koolforcats · 28/09/2011 17:18

Yellow how ace that your DH can feel the action Smile. I'll be interested to hear how you find the dream genii, I've read lots of reviews about it and it sounds amazing. My favourite sleep position is on my back so I'll definitely be interested in getting one later on if you get on well with it. Thanks for the reassurance re nuchal scan. Thanks Wombat for asking too. I had the scan last Wednesday. I called today and was told that as I hadn't been phoned within 48 hours of the scan, I'm to presume that no news is good news and in the meantime I should be patient Shock!!!

Great news on your update wombat, sounds like you're good to go! White twixes? I had no idea about the existence of such confectionary delights, yum! And don't worry, you probably misheard phallus, they were no doubt commenting on how fabulous baby wombat looked Wink

Can I share today's mental? Every now and then I get a dull tummy ache, quite like a period pain feeling. Had it for a good couple of hours earlier today. No spotting or bleeding or anything so I'm not too concerned but it's hard not to feel a bit twitchy after last year. I guess I'm at that in between stage, too early to feel movement but supposedly far enough on for miscarriage risks to go right down (13+2) and as I'm not feeling sick anymore it all feels a bit unreal again! This is just normal mentalling, right?

Must dash, I hear the men in white coats knocking Grin

emmaandthestar · 28/09/2011 19:57

Hello, gosh I have a lot to catch up on!
Loving the massage story, we had a couple in our NCT class that did it together - I don't think that is something DH was ever interested in!!! Blush
this was from the same couple that suggested DTD during labour would help with the pain Confused

I have been mentalling like crazy and couldn't face the web... I have 12 week scan on Friday but had one in EPU last week as I had dreadful stomach cramps (probably wind!) but baby was there and measured 10.5 :)

Yellow yey for feeling the bean - how exciting

Anyway I will go and catch up on you all - see you soon and cross your fingers for me for Friday xx

Wormshuffler · 28/09/2011 19:59

I had no idea about White Twix either and I am a sales Rep for Mars!! Is it an official Mars Twix or a knock of dodgy version?

What you are feeling kool is your uterus stretching, I had it until about 16 weeks, so fear not Grin

Head down and ready for action hey wombat you better get practising your breathing techniques! Are they pro epidural there like in America or do you have to beg and plead like you do here?
I felt exactly like you do now before I had DD, the truth is you can't really know what you are feeling and how you should feel about the baby yet as you don't really know it! or indeed how it will affect your lives!

Yes yellow I have been trying to get in and out of the car like the Queen and keeping legs together. Still have the pain, but it is copeable during the day, and then flares up about 2 ish and gets streadily worse until bed time. I can cope as long as it doesn't get any worse...... Can I share your Auntie please?

Good to hear from you wellie I remember mrsb saying the same about having a break and falling PG 2 months later, it works! let your hair down, be wild for a bit and see what happens.

Hello to anyone lurking [waves]

yellowtomato · 29/09/2011 08:24

Morning ladies

wombat your final scan sounds lovely, I think i'd like to have a 3D scan but DP is not keen so I'm probably not going to. When is your actual due date, I've lost the spreadsheet. Head down sounds promising.

kool mentalling is totally normal. Many of us found the time between stopping feeling sick and starting to feel movement very stressful. It is a strange kind of limbo. Some hired/bought a doppler and spent time listening to the heartbeat for reassurance, I just mentalled!! There are things to worry about at every stage I've found.......

emma hurrah for the scan being good at 10.5, fingers crossed for tomorrow. Will you be exactly 12 weeks then?

worm hope the pain doesn't get any worse for you, sound grim indeed. When are you stopping work?

All good here, dreamgenii not arrive yet although I got an email yesterday saying it was going to be dispatched but could be delivered up until 9pm.........as I'm having it sent to work that isn't very handy is it? Went to pg yoga last night and a lady came in with her baby to tell her birth story. Basically she wanted a natural, active birth and ended up with drugs, epidural, epistosmy (however you spell it) and ventouse. So I guess the lesson is that things don't always go according to plan!

Waves to all!

koolforcats · 01/10/2011 11:50

A me, me, me...

Got my nuchal results, classed as low risk but with a ratio of 1:250. From crazily googling, it seems like I'm just on the cut off between low and high. I'm so confused as it has the Papp-A level and free hcg level but they mean nothing to me. I was so hoping for a nice low 1:10000 or something so this is a bit of a shock. Always said I wouldn't have an amnio but I think that's easier to say before worrying results appear. I know you wouldn't take a bet on a horse with odds of 1:250 but the the thought of being the 1 is a worry.

I'm 14 weeks on Monday so just on the phone to a private clinic to see if I can have a scan today or at least see someone to talk me through the results, as the latest you can have the nuchal is 14 weeks. I guess it's a bit daft to pay for the same test I've already had but I just wonder if they might take longer over it?

wombatinwaiting · 01/10/2011 13:25

Afternoon all - hope you are enjoying the amazing weather over there - 1st October?! Confused

kool - i'm so sorry that you're worrying. I think getting a second opinion or at least talking it through with someone wouldn't hurt at all - I got quite confused with the blood tests part of it. Everything is private here and I got to have the bloods, then the scan, then the results of the bloods within 1.5 hours which was hugely reassuring. Sending hugs x

Must have been good to hear a real life birth story yellow - your classes sound great. Has the dg arrived yet? Actual due date is 24th November which is less than 8 weeks

wombatinwaiting · 01/10/2011 13:29

Oh, forgot to put down the top tips I got from the b/feeding workshop. It's very important that the baby gets a good mouthful of boob as the milk producing ducts are quite a way back from the nipple. Pay very close attention to positioning and attachment as that is almost always the cause of any problems. Baby's stomach is only about the size of a marble when newborn and so they really don't need much, especially in the first couple of days - the colostrum they get is perfect and if you are struggling to b/f then hand express into a little medicine cup that they then lap from.

I'm sure there was other stuff too but those were the main bits I remember.

wellieboots · 01/10/2011 13:33

kool (((hugs))) after everything you've been through to get this far I'm so Sad that the news isn't more clear cut

I don't think you can ever say what you would do until you're in the situation, so I don't have a clue what I would do if it was me, but I just wanted to say I was thinking of you xx

koolforcats · 01/10/2011 15:35

Thanks wombat and wellie, I'm just on my way back from a blood test at the london ultrasound centre and am going for another scan on Monday. I guess I'm hoping for a better result but there's no reason why it'll be different I suppose. I know my results weren't terrible and I hope just being paranoid but what can you do?!Blush

yellowtomato · 02/10/2011 09:21

Hi kool

Sorry that you are going through such anxiety. Just a thought but when I had my nuchal, before getting results, I was thinking that maybe if results were inconclusive I might try a 3D scan before amino. Not sure if it would help but I understood that some physical 'markers' might be more clearly seen. Might be worth looking into as it might help to reassure?

Let us know how you get on on Monday, will be thinking of you.

Emma how was the scan on Friday?

koolforcats · 02/10/2011 11:28

Thanks yellow what a great suggestion. That's why this thread is so great and IMO much better than a due date thread as we're all at different stages so there's lots of experience and wisdom going on!

I'm off to eat ice pops Grin

nurse47 · 02/10/2011 13:52

hi ladies just wanted to let you know that baby jessica lily made an early apperance on tuesday 27th of sept born at 09:47 weighing 8lbs 10ozs!!! had a natural delievery only using gas and air, labour was short started off at 3am, went into hospital at 7:30 was 3cm! had my waters broke at 9am and baby jessica born at 9:47!!
We are all over the moon and feel my journeyand family is complete now that she is here.

nurse47 · 02/10/2011 13:53

also if anyone is interested in keeping in touch on facebook PM me, ill put some pics on x x x

Sparklywine · 02/10/2011 15:56

Aw, beautiful news Nurse, congratulations on your wonderful baby girl! Your comment on your journey and family being complete is such a perfect sentiment.

wombatinwaiting · 02/10/2011 17:15

Nurse! - what wonderful news! Many, many congrats on the safe and speedy Shock arrival of Jessica Lily - absolutely thrilled for you, especially as I think you started this fab thread for us all way back in the day.... am I right? If so, a true graduate!

kool - good to hear that you have something booked in. I think yellow's suggestion is a good one - not sure how much they can see on the 3d at 14 weeks, but on the normal 2d, they can see if a nasal bone is present and that the heart function as much as they can see is normal which are both good indicators that all is well. (this is from memory, so please don't rely on that as gospel). Please do let us know how you get on tomorrow. SEnding hugs.

wellie and worm - great to hear from you both xx

Wormshuffler · 03/10/2011 07:01

Ahhhh congratulations and welcome to the world jessica Lily Grin lovely name. We have all come so far in the last year, thanks for coming back on to share nurse and congratulations on a natural birth.

kool I too would have had more scans before having the invasive testing. If you decided you did need to go on for the invasive testing I believe there are private doctors in London who's MC rate for after the amnio/cvs is zero. The ladies on anti-natal choices would be able to help with finding these. Hope the mentalling is soon over for you.

Thanks for the breastfeeding advise wombat I am getting more and more keen to do it as time goes on. I didn't even attempt with DC's and it is something I do regret. We seem to be thundering towards the due dates.

I have been away for the weekend in a lovely old cottage in Teesdale with DH and our friends. We did some shopping enroute in Harrogate and I have been tempted by a Kath Kidson changing bag. It will be the first non-second hand thing I have this baby. This really is a baby on the cheap and I am beginning to feel a bit guilty to it! it's not like we are skint either I am just getting really tight in my old age!! Having said that I didn't buy the bag from the shop as hoping to find one cheaper on ebay!! I also bought all my post baby lounging around the house loungewear too.

Hope you are all well, we need to get chatting more so that wellie can start the next thread!! in fact maybe you should just make one now wellie and we can abandon this one!!!
