Freak Out Room For Those Newly Updiffed After M/C Part VII

1000 replies

Blackkat · 05/06/2011 14:30

Just found out you are pregnant after a previous miscarriage and too nervous to move over the to pregnancy boards? Freaking out about spotting, cramping, symptoms (or lack there of) and nervously awaiting your first scan? Here is a lovely place for lot's of support, hand holding and problem sharing.

Courtesy of owlbooty here are the Ten Commandments of the Freak Out Room.

  1. Thou shalt check thy knickers to the point of insanity until the baby actually arrives.
  2. Thou shalt also check the loo roll post-wipeage (sorry, gross, I know)
  3. Thou shalt bore thy physician and midwife to tears with the mentalling.
  4. And thy husband/boyfriend/family/neighbour's cat.
  5. Thou shalt obsess over the absence of symptoms.
  6. And the presence of symptoms.
  7. And the fluctuation of symptoms.
  8. Thou shalt pee on a vast number of sticks and keep ClearBlue and First Response in business.
  9. The day before any scan extreme mentalling is permitted without recourse to the Haddock.
10. Self-diagnosis with Dr Google is Forbidden.

The Haddock will be applied liberally to all transgressors.

willitbe if you're not too wiped out now, go and see Bridesmaids tonight. I went last night to take my mind off things and I really, really enjoyed it. By the time it's finished you'll be knackered and can fall into bed. Let us know how you get on and make sure you take some trash magazines for the wait - I entirely sympathise, it's awful waiting in that room.

Thanks Minnie

dooscooby glad I am not alone on the boob front. I have also perfected the sneaky bap scratch :)

Have a nice evening everyone

pigletmania · 30/06/2011 21:46

Hi haven't been here for a while, but i had some bleeding when i went to the loo. It was bright red, I am scared that it will be a 3rd MC. Is this a bad sign, I am 10.5 weeks, it cant be happening again Sad

CollieandPup · 30/06/2011 22:21

Just a quick post to give piglet a ((hug)) as it's late and don't want your post to go unanswered. Red blood is very scary but it's not neccessary doom. I can't remember who, but a few ladies have had it, teacakes being the one I remember most as she has it lots and she's on the grads doing well. If you've dtd recently that could cause it too. And 10 wks could be the placenta kicking in too. That can cause a bit of blood.

Try not to worry tonight (I know that's next to impossible). but ring your mw or epu first thing tomorrow and try to be seen. Especially if you have anymore. Xx

Good luck tomorrow willitbe

Right, I'm off to bed. Will catch up properly tomorrow x

pigletmania · 30/06/2011 22:38

Thanks collie I don't have cramps or clots. And still feel pg and feeling nauseous and tired. Will ring MW tomorrow

Blackkat · 01/07/2011 08:27

piglet I had a big fresh bleed at 11, I was terrified, all was fine on the scan, it was the placenta implanting, there are many people ahead of me on the list too who experienced this. I do hope you get to see someone for reassurance today. ((hugs))

to everyone and good luck for scanners today.

pigletmania · 01/07/2011 09:03

Thanks black, phoned MW she has arranged for me to go to EPAU in tue as it's fully booked. She said to go to a&e if bleeding becomes very heavy.just so Sad. thought it would be a sticky bean

pigletmania · 01/07/2011 09:15

Epau called back seeing them this morning which is good, have a little more bleeding but it's reassuring I'm being checked out

harassedandherbug · 01/07/2011 10:26

Piglet fingers firmly x'd for you lovely. As Blackkat said, there are lots of people of the Grads thread who had bleeding, and it's a good sign that you're not cramping. Hope you have someone to take you xx

doo this is dc4 and I've worn underwired bras right through all my pregs until the last month or so and I've always bf. As long as you're careful and the wires aren't digging in, you'll be fine.

willitbe good luck!

I can't believe I've got to 15 weeks Grin! The mentalling is starting to lessen slightly, and I really want to enjoy my preg as it's DEF the last one. My doppler arrived on Wednesday and it's been fabulous!! Dh and I love it, but dd is decidedly underwhelmed by it lol, she's more interested in her birthday on Tuesday.

We've started looking at buggy's and I've just found this site which is great for reviews.

ladybird33 · 01/07/2011 10:50

Hi all, am sympathising with both those who have sickness and those who don't. Feeling v nauseous most of the time, but start mentalling if it goes away for a few hours. Ridiculous!

piglet am thinking of you and really hope all goes well this morning. Let us know how you get on.

mamarara thanks for the reassurance about the maternity trousers - maybe it's a second time round thing? Although having said that I have been pg 3 times in the past year due to the mcs, so I think my body has just given up and is happily adding to all fat deposits!

dooscooby I really like the "today I am pregnant" thinking. Stops my mind spiralling out of control into the future.

bigmac - am very very pleased for you that all went well with the midwife. Great news that no internal bleeding, must be massive relief for you. Hope it's all plain sailing from now on. You deserve huge praise for not taking up offer of a scan, your mentalling days may well be over!!

willitbe any news about your scan today?

It is DS's sports day today. Am wondering how to get out of the mothers "tug of war" with out revealing am pg. Maybe could invent long standing shoulder injury....?!

CollieandPup · 01/07/2011 11:14

Hi Everyone,

Not been on for a while so just trying to chat up.

harassed hello lovely!!! 15weeks! That?s great! When do you have you 16wk apt? The Doppler is great isn?t it. I LOVE it! I wake up most mornings worried I?ve squashed the baby in the night [irrational emotion] so its nice reassurance. It was especially nice around your stage when the ms went but I wasn?t feeling any movement. I found the weeks after the 12 week scan started to fly, how about you?

Still no decision on the buggy here either. I?ve ruled out the bugaboo bee ? saw it last night and hated it. BUT I did try the Cameleon (to DH?s dispair) and loved it!! But its just soooooo expensive! We walked away with DH liking the Oyster ? which I don?t. and me obv liking the most expensive thing in he shop (nothing new there then!) Smile Problem is, he really went of the Quinny. And the reviews are so mixed. I?m soooooooo Confused

Did you find a nice place to stay over tomorrow? Sounds lovely. I have the FIL staying ? with DH and FIL DIYing.

Lovely to hear from all the people that have been quietly lurking. Glad that all is ok with you. hairy did you make a decision on when to have a scan or are you still sleeping on it?

laylas I?m so sorry to read you have been so unwell and have other such sad and stressful things going on in RL too. Its nice that your sister is pg - you are going to be fine and it will be lovely to share the journey with someone close.

Minnie yay on visiting M&P! One step at a time. I had serval visits before making my first purchase! I still have hardly bought anything. I just keep looking at stuff. I have some M&P jeans and they are really comfy. I got them 2nd hand too of ebay for 99p!! Bargain. They are in excellent condition. I?d really recommend having a look on ebay. I have also got some smarter jeans from Top-shop ? skinny leg ones. These are great too.

wiw sounds like you and lara had lovely meet up. She sounds radiant. And green eyes?beautiful too!!

Blackkat thanks for the tip-off re M&P 2nds. I did not know that

bigmac thanks for the advice about breaststroke. Someone else on the grads thread said the same thing. Its still a bit tender but better and so is my upper back. My deamgenni is at the Post Office too so I?m looking forward to a good rest tonight!

willitbe are you back from your scan yet? Lurking for news

piglet glad you are getting seen today. Good luck xx

All is ok here. 20 wk scan next week and starting to get nervous.

lily06 · 01/07/2011 12:12

Afternoon ladies,

Its been ages since I've managed to log on and haven't a hope of catching up again I'm afraid. Hope everyone is doing well.

Piglet hope your scan went well this morning.

Anyone else got a craving for crumpets? I've had two a day for the last three weeks!

My scan has been moved forward a week so only a few days to go. Pleased about that as I've got four exams the week after and the scan was supposed to be the day before they start. Will update the list later when I'm not on my phone.

Bumpgrowing · 01/07/2011 14:14

Afternoon all

Piglet hope the scan goes well.

Collie 20 week scan! That is so fab! Wow it really has gone quick the last few weeks - well when I think about how far you are along now! - time is dragging for me!

Harassed you are also progressing at full speed ahead! 15 weeks is fab! Am jealous!

Lady I think your shoulder injury sounds like a good one!

Lil I am obsessed with crumpets too. Two a day for weeks for me too. I actually feel sick unless I eat them at 10am every day! Good luck for your scan!

Hi to everyone else!

xx

CollieandPup · 01/07/2011 15:14

bump I know, 20 weeks! I can barely believe it myself! I felt like time was standing still at your stage too. But it really did start to fly after the 12wk scan and after the ms eased. Even more so after my 16wk apt. Not long for your apt though!

Good to here from you. When is your scan now then? Yummm crumpets!!! I couldn't get enough of them. But to be fair I've ate my weight in bread and toast since my bfp!!

pigletmania · 01/07/2011 15:41

Hi everybody, you all have been so kind Smile. good news had a scan and they saw baby moving with a heartbeat. Which is great. They said the bleeding is some old blood coming away from outside the sac. Not to worry as there might be a little bit more bleeding. They said that I am 11 weeks and baby is the right size for the dates

Purpletoes · 01/07/2011 15:43

Good news piglet

cep · 01/07/2011 16:02

piglet that's great news Grin

lily hiya. not really getting many cravings at the moment (at least i don't think so)

shellshock7 · 01/07/2011 17:00

piglet I am so happy for you, you must be so relieved Grin

willitbe · 01/07/2011 17:25

Scan not good, but as expected. I am 7w0d today and only saw sac measuring 5w1d. I have had this with all my m/c's but also with my dd! So I am grasping hold to the 1 in 10 chance that it might still be ok. I go back in 10 days to be scanned again.

I was extremely nervous, which was not helped by doctors not reading notes. As I walked in doc said, so you have had 3 m/c's right -- Wrong I had to point out that the number was 10 and that I was a regular visitor to the department! Ended up not being able to face sitting in the waiting room, with all its bad memories for me, but they were kind enough to let me wait in the corridor instead.

I am feeling very flat right now, all emotional energy has drained from me. Please excuse me for not reading back and chatting, I will come back another time to do that, just wanted to update you with the scan result.

Bumpgrowing · 01/07/2011 17:26

FAB news Piglet Grin xx

Bumpgrowing · 01/07/2011 17:28

Awwh Willitbe we cross posted. So sorry you are having this worry hun. BUT, it happened before with your d/d and so I am going to keep everything crossed that it will be the same again this time around.

I am not surprised you feel totally drained and I am cross the doctor showed so little sensitivity and hadn't read your notes properly.

Rest up and look after yourself. xxxx

Purpletoes · 01/07/2011 18:00

willitbe so sorry scan hasn't given you the reassurance you needed. Will keep fingers crossed for the 1 in 10 chance. Thinking of you.

pigletmania · 01/07/2011 18:03

Thanks everyone Smile thinking if you wilitbe, fingers fx it must be dreadful to have to wait and not knowing

hairylights · 01/07/2011 18:25

Phew piglet!

I tried to get a scan today but spire is fully booked so am
hoping for early next week.
