Just found out you are pregnant after a previous miscarriage and too nervous to move over the to pregnancy boards? Freaking out about spotting, cramping, symptoms (or lack there of) and nervously awaiting your first scan? Here is a lovely place for lot's of support, hand holding and problem sharing.

Courtesy of owlbooty here are the Ten Commandments of the Freak Out Room.

  1. Thou shalt check thy knickers to the point of insanity until the baby actually arrives.
  2. Thou shalt also check the loo roll post-wipeage (sorry, gross, I know)
  3. Thou shalt bore thy physician and midwife to tears with the mentalling.
  4. And thy husband/boyfriend/family/neighbour's cat.
  5. Thou shalt obsess over the absence of symptoms.
  6. And the presence of symptoms.
  7. And the fluctuation of symptoms.
  8. Thou shalt pee on a vast number of sticks and keep ClearBlue and First Response in business.
  9. The day before any scan extreme mentalling is permitted without recourse to the Haddock.
10. Self-diagnosis with Dr Google is Forbidden.

The Haddock will be applied liberally to all transgressors.

Thinking of you mistress good luck with scan tomorrow.

I have just been out with some friends who have let it slip that another of our friends is pregnant and due in feb.

I have spent the whole evening thinking well that's it for me then something will go wrong.

I know it is illogical but it has reinforced in me to get an early scan.

Goodnight all.

willitbe · 26/06/2011 08:46

Misstress - hope the scan goes well, I hope that being in the hospital at the moment is not too bad and that you get more tlc today. Will be thinking of you. I am glad that you had plenty of company with you last night. Take care.

ladybird33 · 26/06/2011 11:08

Mistress, thinking of you today - hope the scan went ok this morning.

Purpletoes I am going to haddock you for those thoughts I'm afraid! You know life doesn't work like that, but definitely go for an early scan - hopefully that will put your fears at rest for a while.

I am going to go for a scan tomorrow morning (will be 10 weeks tomorrow). My fetal heart rate doppler thingy arrived yesterday and I haven't been able to find the heartbeats..... I know it's really early still, but it does say from 9 weeks on the box and loads of reviews on Amazon say that people have found the heartbeat from 9 weeks.... Anyway, at least tomorrow I will know either way. I am having to face the fact that I could easily have had a mmc like I did last time (at 10 weeks), so will find out tomorrow....

MistressofPemberley · 26/06/2011 11:23

Hello all.

Back from hospital. Scan confirmed that there is no gestational sac, just a "bulky uterus" and some more blood to be passed.

EPU sister was very helpful and kind. Answered my questions, booked me in for a scan in 10 days if I am still bleeding. Gave me some leaflets and assured me that when I'm next pg I can book myself in for fortnightly scans from 6/7 weeks if I want to.

Spending the day with family, few glasses of wine later.

Plan is to wait for AF, all the while enjoying life as much as possible, book a holiday, then get healthy and fit for operation ttc %232.

I think I'll move over to the common room, but I might lurk a bit to follow you lot. Best of British everyone. And sincere thanks for all you support, advice and general loveliness.

Xxx Smile

CollieandPup · 26/06/2011 12:11

mistress glad the hospital apt went 'ok' or as well as it can under such crappy circumstances. Sorry it ended this way for you, but I'm glad your body seems to be doing it's job and you're doing as well as can be.

Good luck with operation ttc in a month or so, I'm sure the loveky ladies in the common room with look after you very well.

Take care of yourself and enjoy your summer holiday xx

CollieandPup · 26/06/2011 12:15

purpletoes ladybird is right it doesn't work like that you know that. But we've all been there and had the same irrational thoughts.

ladybird I think 10 weeks is very very early to pick up a hb. I think I first use mine at 12 wk and got a hb, but I thought that was early. Good luck tomorrow for your scan, you'll be fine. Will be lurking for good news x

wombatinwaiting · 26/06/2011 12:31

Thanks for taking the time to keep us updated mistressp and I'm glad to read that you had a sympathetic and helpful sister there. Wishing you every luck and success with the ttc and hope to see you back here very soon x

Thinking of you for tomorrow ladybird.

Purpletoes · 26/06/2011 12:56

mistress I am so sorry and will be thinking of you and wishing you all the best in ttc again.

ladybird and collie thank you for the haddocking I know it doesn't work that way and in the clear sunshine of today it will be nice to have a friend so close in dates. Grin

I reckon hormones are in overload in the evenings. Wink

In a peace offering I leave homemade apple pie and dairy milk chocolate bar.

ladybird33 · 26/06/2011 13:14

Mistress I'm sorry the hospital confirmed what you thought was inevitable, but I'm glad they treated you gently and were able to answer your questions. Well done for getting through the last few days which have been so awful for you. We will miss having you here, but will reserve a beanbag for your return.... Good luck with ttc again and hope you have a lovely holiday. Take care of yourself and hopefully we'll hear from you soon.

Collie and wombat thanks for your thoughts, I'll let you know how it goes tomorrow...

Hope everyone on the thread enjoys the rest of their weekend!

Purpletoes · 26/06/2011 13:57

ladybird good luck tomorrow sorry I forgot to say in last post as at work and sneaking on mumsnet when I can.

Will be thinking of you.

katherine2008 · 26/06/2011 19:50

sending you all my heartfelt sympathies mistress x

willitbe · 26/06/2011 20:23

Misstress - sorry that it has been confirmed, but it is good that your body is doing the right thing for you at the moment to get ready for next time. I look forward to seeing you back here soon.

Ladybird - Hope the scan goes well tomorrow.

I am booked for a scan tomorrow, but I am not supposed to get it til next week, so I am ringing in the morning to get it postoponed, I hope that I get through to the epu early enough to cancel tomorrows appointment.

cep · 26/06/2011 20:41

mistress i'm so sorry that it was what you thought. I'm glad they were so helpful for you and that your family are there with you in force. I wish you all the best.

ladybird 10 wks is v v v early, my mw couldn't find it at 12 weeks. Lots of luck for tomorrow.

Blackkat · 26/06/2011 20:53

MistressP so sorry that you've been proved right, but glad to hear that the Sister was gentle with you, you've got good company and that you're positive about the summer and TTC again. There's a seat ready for you here. Smile. The ladies in the Common Room are all lovely and will look out for you.

to everyone else. Good luck to the scanners tomorrow x

MrsSteph · 26/06/2011 20:53

Hi Everyone! I am new here, hope thats ok!

Not sure if this is how you do it here, but my Brief History is 1 Beautiful DD aged 20mths, I had zero problems with my pregnancy (apart from the Labour) Got Pregnant in December but miscarried in January at 6.5 weeks, I was devasted, never thought for a second it would happen to me (how naive I feel now) I had 1 period & got a BFP had cramping throughout was told & accepted it was ok but started to bleed the end of April & miscarriage sadly the result. I am now happily pregnant again & actually more positive than last time, I think I "feel pregnant" which I didn't really with my 2 MC, no sickness yet which I am willing on!
I am currently 6.1weeks & have a scan on 13/7 @ 8.4weeks cant come quick enough for me!!xx

MrsSteph · 26/06/2011 21:15

Should have added 2 MC was 9weeks!

And although I said I was feeling positive, I go to the toliet oftenjust to check & when every I go anywhere I nip to the as soon as I arrive!x

dooscooby · 27/06/2011 07:29

Welcome mrssteph, very sorry for your losses but congrats on your bfp. We can all share in the knicker checking madness and everything else here. I'm 14wks now and still have weird toilet rituals I follow, I think they'll stay with me for a long while!

mistress I'm pleased that you were treated sensitively at the hosp - I hope the next few weeks are kind to you and we really will keep your beanbag a plumped up here x

So, I've finally managed to sleep beyond 4.30am today-yey! I think the jetlag might be officially gone and im now off the terrace blackkat (although the hot night we just had I could stay out there some more!).

So ladies, how long did you wait to tell work? We have a big annual meeting on weds and I was thinking of maybe doing it the day after, I'd be 15 weeks-what do you think? I'm reluctant as I don't like telling anyone, never mind my boss who I don't really like, but in another way I'd quite like to get it over and done with as it's hanging over me a bit and then I'd be free to dress a bit easier too!

cep · 27/06/2011 07:50

welcome mrssteph congratulations on your bfp. I think knicker checking is almost mandatory. Grin

doo Tell them the day after if that's when your comfortable telling them. especially if your wearing restrictive things, you needs to start being able to wear comfortable things.

pantsandpup · 27/06/2011 09:19

mistress so sorry to hear you're right. Hospital sound lovely though. Look after yourself x

mrssteph welcome!!

ladybird that's very early to hear a hb!! My doc managed to find hb at 12+6, but at first was only picking up the heart rate (188bpm) and I wasn't at all surprised. Mw's don't normally try until your 16 wk appointment when it's pretty much guaranteed.....so they don't freak anyone out! This is dc4 and that's the earliest I've ever heard the hb.

doo I also have weird toilet rituals.... thank god I'm not the only one!! I told my boss just after my scan, but I'm huuuuge and don't know how they've missed it tbh! A lot of it is bloating from my aspirin, but it's worth it!

Oh I felt a movement last night! I've had lots of is it/isn't it, but this def was Grin. Otherwise it was a pretty shitty weekend thanks to not so "d" h and not so "d" sd......

Youremindmeofthebean · 27/06/2011 10:11

mistress I am so sorry that the hospital confirmed your mc. They sound like they were very kind and understanding, and how good of them to offer to xheck you every 2 weeks in your next pg. Which will be very soon, I knows it.. Come and join the common room whenever you feel ready.Smile

doo I am so envious. I am already a fat lump and had to tell everyone at work in the hope that I will be able to wear fat clothes now. The shameBlush

I have now realised that having a scan does not make you relax. Ah well. I am a little panicked now because my symptoms have receeded massively after 12 weeks, I still feel sicky, but not as bad as I did, and my hips aren't as sore, and so on and so forth. Only another 4 weeks til I get to hear the heartbeat!

pants are you ok? was the weekend really bad? yeyeyey for the movements though, that's ace!

CollieandPup · 27/06/2011 11:22

Mrssteph welcome to the thread. So sorry for your losses but YAY for your BFP. fx its a super sticky one. Knicker checking is practically madatory in here so fear not!

Doo i told work at about 14 1/2 weeks. I was trying to hide it up until then and was becoming very uncomfortable particulary clothes wise. I absolutely HATE the act of telling people, so i told 2 or 3 people and left them and office gossip to do the rest. After the initial shock of people knowing and embarrassing congrats, i am now very relieved people know. I can just swan around looking huge without caring Grin

pants why such a crappy weekend? I'm so sorry, are 'h' and 's' in the dog house? Yay for movement though. Mine is really starting to get more obvious and dh has been feeling the odd flutter too which i'm loving!!!

yrmotbean boo for you not feeling reassured. Symptoms having gone by 12 weeks is normal, and i know you know that. Although it freaked me out too!! Smile Mine came and went after 4-5 days of them being gone, which was a bit reassuring, but also poo as feeling like crap is never good. But all is fine in there, bean is growing nicely as it should.

Good luck to scanners today.

Hope people are managing to enjoy the sunny weather - I'm currently working from my garden Grin

dooscooby · 27/06/2011 12:25

Hi there
Thanks for all your input re telling work. I'm not so sure they haven't guessed to be honest, but I've been away from 12-14 wks more or less and most of the time I can stay in my office and not be seen apart from when I make a cuppa and go/leave when I try to place papers, my handbag, anything over my tummy (it's probably more obvious that way!).

I haven't told anyone in person, it's either been all through email, or my DH. Is it really wrong to tell my boss via email?! We hardly ever have meetings so otherwise I'll have to set up a proper one in order to do it in private and that fills me with dread!

On a positive note, I'm starting pg yoga tonight. I'm looking forward to doing some exercise and something that keeps me occupied at night, it's also nice to finally be officially pg enough to join in these things for the first time, although I am a bit nervous about meeting other pg ladies and I'm hoping they won't be scarily excitable for this uber cautious lady!

cep · 27/06/2011 12:53

pants sorry you had a shit weekend. mine was the same thanks to "d" (ha) h. Glad you got lots of movement though. Grin

doo not sure about telling via e-mail but if it's the only way you communicate with boss then so be it.

dooscooby · 27/06/2011 13:32

pants you're harassed right? (forgive me, I'm slow to catch on!). Congrats on the movement front - that's amazing. We're the same stage I think - was it a 'flutter' or full on movement? Sorry the rest of the weekend wasn't great - hope you've had a better start to this week!

ladybird33 · 27/06/2011 13:37

Hi all, good news from my scan this morning!!! After an agonising wait I finally saw two little hearts beating nicely away (phew!). Everything fine so far... They are measuring about the same size which is really good news and seem on track for dates. Am so relieved and happy, but know that it's still really early days, so have to carry on taking things one day at a time. 17 days until my 12 week scan so have started the next countdown....!

Thanks to everyone for your supportive words and also for the advice about the fetal heart rate monitor. I'll try and leave it as long as I can before trying again.

Welcome to Mrssteph I hope the next few weeks fly by for you! I think we will all be automatically knicker checking well into our retirement at this rate!
