Freak Out Room For Those Newly Updiffed After M/C Part VII

Blackkat · 05/06/2011 14:30

Just found out you are pregnant after a previous miscarriage and too nervous to move over the to pregnancy boards? Freaking out about spotting, cramping, symptoms (or lack there of) and nervously awaiting your first scan? Here is a lovely place for lot's of support, hand holding and problem sharing.

Courtesy of owlbooty here are the Ten Commandments of the Freak Out Room.

  1. Thou shalt check thy knickers to the point of insanity until the baby actually arrives.
  2. Thou shalt also check the loo roll post-wipeage (sorry, gross, I know)
  3. Thou shalt bore thy physician and midwife to tears with the mentalling.
  4. And thy husband/boyfriend/family/neighbour's cat.
  5. Thou shalt obsess over the absence of symptoms.
  6. And the presence of symptoms.
  7. And the fluctuation of symptoms.
  8. Thou shalt pee on a vast number of sticks and keep ClearBlue and First Response in business.
  9. The day before any scan extreme mentalling is permitted without recourse to the Haddock.
10. Self-diagnosis with Dr Google is Forbidden.

The Haddock will be applied liberally to all transgressors.

doo it's because I have a scan booked at EPU on Sunday morning. They are very booked up; she even said there was no guarantee of a scan if I went to A&E, but I'm sure they would if bleeding was very heavy.

bigmacandhappymeal · 24/06/2011 09:48

Mistress I completely agree with collie's advice about the number of pads and also that you are dealing with this in an amazing way. Take it easy as you are with plenty of TLC and remember - you haven't had a miscarriage until you've had a miscarriage so there is still hope. Have I got this wrong or are you due a scan on Sunday?
x

dooscooby · 24/06/2011 10:09

Sorry mistress-I can't believe they are making you wait until a booked scan on Sunday, I thought all epus had to offer emergency slots. You are coping admirably, I hope the pain and bleeding subsides and like everyone else has said, we'll keep our fingers crossed for you xx

pantsandpup · 24/06/2011 10:17

Mistress I'm sorry you're having to go through this. You've had loads of good advice already from the girls so I'll send a big (((())) instead.

I also though epu's saved slots for emergencies, not good if they don't. I've always been "lucky" when I've mc'd and been scanned straight away, but some of the stories I've heard have made realise mine is one of the better ones.

Take care of yourself lovely x

willitbe · 24/06/2011 10:47

willitbe walks in with haddock to slap those who need it and also to act as self-defence as she admits to doing another pee-test with conception indicator against all advice here Grin

Before I get onto where I am at - I will attempt to catch up here!!!!

MistressofPemberly - sorry you are having a bit of a scare with bleeding and cramping, I hope that that is all it is a scare and that you are ok. Being in limbo is truely worse than knowing for sure. I think you are doing the right thing staying at home if that is where you are most comfortable. My later m/c's when they started went fairly quickly, so in some ways that you are getting mainly old brown bleeding and it is not progressing is actually an indication that things might just be ok. What I have learnt is that no miscarriage is the same, just the same way as no pregnancy is the same, so no one can really tell you what might happen. It is possible that if you are m/cing that you might not see anything significant. I had lots of very large clots with my later m/c's, but the sac was small in comparison to the clots and I could not really identify anything, the only reason I knew it was the sac and baby was because it was a slightly different colour and texture, I had known about a week before that the pregnancy was not viable due to scans, so that made it easier mentally I think. I caught the sac in my hand - gross I know, and then later buried it in the garden, the m/c started and ended within 24 hours for me. You need to do what ever feels right for you now. The only reason you must go to hospital is if you soak a pad bleeding in an hour, otherwise you are safe at home. It seems a long time to sunday to get the scan, I just hope it is good news when you get there. Will be thinking of you.

willitbe · 24/06/2011 11:05

Milky - hope you are feeling better today
Lara - Envy at the new furniture!
cep and YRMOTB - great news on the h/b's

Sorry I know there are loads of other things I should be saying but brain has left me!

I did get a 3+ today, phew! I am 6 weeks today and so the nausea is starting to kick in. I am trying to continue my positive thinking with this pregnancy. I have a long way to go but I am still taking one step at a time. Getting to 7 weeks and my first scan is my next goal.

bigmacandhappymeal · 24/06/2011 11:07

Can I ask a question of the ladies who are at the 17 week plus stage? I'm still peeing like an incontinent shire horse (apologies) but was under the impression that this was supposed to ease off around this time. Is this complete lies or am I expecting too much too soon?

willitbe not gross at all - I did the same. I was surprised because for me that bit wasn't physically painful at all, just a peculiar sensation. However, I will not be diverted from the fact that you need a vigorous haddock application and because it's Friday and I have my old baggy leggings on at work, I don't care if I get haddocked back :)

LaraandLittleBean · 24/06/2011 11:21

Hope you're feeling okay Mistress - we're all here for you...

Big Mac - love the new name.... I think it's way better than a coffee-related one! Thing is, I bet that a Happy Meal is the last thing you will feed your little Happy Meal!!!!!

BigMac - I am peeing way more... But I am also drinking more. My night time wees are better though (only need to get up once or twice now!)

Collie - how's the pouting going? Is DH succombing to your cot persuasion tactics? Yes, if you just pay the deposit now, you are eligible for the sale price, even if you're taking delivery at the end of the year. M&Ps is officially my new favourite shop.... Am trying not to think about furniture now as it's way too scary....!

Great that we have the makings of a London meet - three of us in the SW area, plus a further two southerners... WOOOO HOOOOO Shall we arrange something? (Clapham Junction / Northcote Rd perhaps??)

Velvet - we DID miss you... promise....

Where is Blackkat?? (I am sensing a new name for her - BlackkatandKitten)

Last working day before hol... DH being a miserable sod (glad I am at work). He is a right pain in the arse to travel with - we always argue at airports. He also insists on charging at 100 miles an hour to the gate (very annoying). Well HA, MrLara, we can't do that in my "pregnancy state" at the moment (milking my pg to the end). Anyone else have moody DHs?

Need another wee........

bigmacandhappymeal · 24/06/2011 11:34

Lara, that's reassuring to hear (my nighttime ones have also lessened to one a night). True re happy meals :)

I also have a grumpy DH. Now that we are a bit farther along in the PG he is not worrying about MC as much but instead is spinning out about ££ and the fact he wants to leave his job and do something different. Mine is also a pain to travel with. He doesn't let me browse cosmetics properly and is the opposite to yours - he's very lacksadaisical (sp?) about getting to the gates and is happy leaving it until the last minute, even though I am hassled when looking in shops. Whereas I'm a nervous flyer so gibber if everything is not calm and orderly.

I am with you on milking PG adapting our lives. I am behaving like a diva but consider this fair enough given some of things we have to go through - I don't have them - yet - but vulval varicose veins? WTF?! I didn't even know that was a thing until this all started. Long may being a diva last.

Have a great holiday. I must now do some work - not a good day.

pantsandpup · 24/06/2011 11:43

willitbe step away from those evil tests!!!

lara my dh is grumpy in the mornings. Actually he can be pretty vile so I try not to talk to him Smile! Me and dd just get on with ourselves. He's a bit freaked out at the price of prams, and has been shoving pictures of cheap nasty ones under my nose. That won't be happening!

collie I forgot to tell you all about my yoga!! It was fab and I really recommend signing up for preg yoga. My lower back had been niggling, but I haven't had a twinge since Wednesday. Was nice to meet some other prg ladies too!

bigmac fab name!! I'm 14 weeks, and the during the day wees are dying down a little but most nights I'm up once or twice...

Actually that's something we can all look forward to. The post birth wee! That first one felt like bliss Grin.

Blackkat · 24/06/2011 11:45

mistressP so sorry that things haven't calmed down, I do think you are best at home. A&E will see you quickly if you are losing lots of blood, they really will. (can share if you would like to know but don't want to alarm) Collie is right about the pads.

I really hope that this isn't what you think it is, I spoke to a friend last night who had bled from week 7 to 14 and she is now 30 weeks pg and all is well. Sending you lots of (((hugs)))

Katherine how was the scan??

Pants I am on the loo hourly, and twice in the night, I'm used to it now but it still annoys me.

Collie with you too on the horrid wetness, it's freaking me out too, but I keep reassuring myself it's normal.

lara no name change for me I think Grin hope you have a lovely holiday.
sorry I'm not around much at the moment, just busy at work Sad

Scoobs I really hope you didn't sleep on the terrace again?? Grin

to everyone else

OP posts:
LaraandLittleBean · 24/06/2011 11:48

Vulval varicose veins... Euch - WTF?! Long may I live in blissful ignorance....

"Glad" you have a moody DH too (if you know what I mean). I feared I had married the only miserable sod out there. Mine too is talking about changing jobs (in the New Year - baby is due at the end of Nov... WTF?!?!?!) He talks about using his paternity leave to update his CV, apply for jobs and go for interviews... not if I have anything to do with it. Of course I want him to be happy etc but his timing is appalling.

CollieandPup · 24/06/2011 12:14

bigmac I'm still weeing big style! I reckon I'm on wee 4 of the day already! But then I always did have a small bladder. I think like lara I'm drinking more but my night wees are much better. I didn't know it was supposed to get better though. In fact a woman at work, due day before me, is having bladder problems in that she keeps leaking when she laughs!!

willitbe yay for moving up

lara we're going to look at furniture after we have done our vw errands tomorrow. Taking him to expensive shop Grin (although he does know it's expensive) and mothercare first to look at others, as I think I'll be happy knowing I've looked around too. But he's basically said I can have it if I want Grin. Thankfully (for our wallet) we aren't buying any matching wardrobes as we have a set of White drawers in there already and plan to move our large White set in there, so we can put a large wardrobe in our room. Although I might have a look at the ickle chest as I want one of those too!!! He he

When do you fly lara ? I'm sooooo Envy my dh isn't so much miserable, but doesn't 'do' excitement, which I find annoying as I get uber excited about everything holiday related!! He's the same at the airport, on a mission. And we can't still and relax until everything is done, and checked at least 100 times!!!

mistress hope you're 'ok'?

Is it not 5 o'clock yet??????

CollieandPup · 24/06/2011 12:18

Sorry I stated that post ages ago and got distracted

Purpletoes · 24/06/2011 12:26

Morning everyone.
Just a quick nod to say hello v busy at work at moment.

mistressp thinking if you and fingers crossed

Also blackout and bigmac my dp is exactly the same ! Nice to know I am not the only one in that situation.
Will catch up properly over the weekend.
( leaves abag of tangtastics)

ladybird33 · 24/06/2011 13:20

Ooooh holiday, lovely! Where are you going Lara? (sorry if I've missed that bit)...

katherine2008 · 24/06/2011 13:49

mistressp have everything crossed for you.

BlackKat thanks for asking - scan was amazing. everything where it should be, measured a couple of days on (hurray!) and we find out we are having a little boy. All amazed as we were sure it was another girl and I am getting my head round all things blue! We are keeping it quiet to all apart from immediate family and my bestie (for passing on of boys clothes) but we are now narrowing down names. It all feels amazing. From all that mentalling at six weeks when I started posting to being over 20 weeks now.

Sending love to everyone.

katherine2008 · 24/06/2011 13:50

found out, not find out.. can't type today! x

ladybird33 · 24/06/2011 14:05

Brilliant news katherine I'm so pleased your scan went so well and lovely that you are having a little boy!

LaraandLittleBean · 24/06/2011 14:06

Katherine - yeyyy for great scan news. Delighted for you and lovely that little one will be a little boy. Great idea to keep it quiet too. Wishing you a happy weekend.

Ladybird - off to Dubai tomorrow for a week... first holiday since getting pg so quite anxious!

Collie - I loved the chest. I also loved the shelf hook contraption but I thought it was a little steep (when we'd just decided on everything else). My DH doesn't do holiday excitement either. In fact he doesn't really ever even look at travel guides til we get there.

Thinking of you Mistress.......

CollieandPup · 24/06/2011 14:29

karherine that's great news on your scan. And you're having a boy!!!!! We're all convniced here too that we are team pink, but I wouldn't be suprised if we end up being completely wrong!!! Wonderful news! So sorry we missed it!!

And velvet just checking the list and where you due a scan on weds??

pantsandpup · 24/06/2011 14:39

Katherine that's fab news!!! So pleased for you, and just lovely that you're having a boy. I loved knowing with dd, as I didn't get the chance with the boys as you didn't get to know then.

I also think I'm team pink as everything is exactly the same as dd, i.e. the complete opposite to the ds's! Dh is determined it's a boy though. Wishful thinking on his part I think as he'd love a boy (my boys were with xh, dh has a dd from previous relationship and we have dd together).

Congrats Katherine on the great scan.
Hoping all is ok with you mistress
have a great holiday Lara.

Bit of a frustrating visit to the consultant for me today - 2 hour wait and then got palmed off with another doctor. He was very nice but couldn't scan which was a shame, but we did get to hear the heartbeat for the first time, sounded like a galloping horse.

Btw-re grumpy dh's. I can't share on that front, I am deffo the grumpy one in this partnership, particularly these days!

Oh and collie I think you mentioned you were having ringing in your ears? Ive been getting this too but wondered whether it was something to do with flying-maybe it's just another of those weird pg symptoms?

MistressofPemberley · 24/06/2011 15:36

Hi all

Just an update. Bleeding started properly at last, after a morning of severe pains (they were like contractions), and I've passed a few clots. Actually feeling ok at the moment, pain has eased off. Watching tennis, got my mum coming round after work. She's going to stay with me tonight as DH works abroad.

In a way I'm ok; at least I know what's happening. Just annoyed that I didn't get scanned to see how far I actually got.

Had some tears today, but my moods are fluctuating wildly. Already thinking about when I'm going to TTC again, and thinking of plans for the summer. But simultaneously can't believe I'm going to have to delete my PG app on phone, and tell my 2 pregnant friends the news.

Seems so unfair that I almost got through the first trimester. Sad

Is a glass of wine tonight a really bad idea?
