Freak Out Room For Those Newly Updiffed After M/C Part VII

Blackkat · 05/06/2011 14:30

Just found out you are pregnant after a previous miscarriage and too nervous to move over the to pregnancy boards? Freaking out about spotting, cramping, symptoms (or lack there of) and nervously awaiting your first scan? Here is a lovely place for lot's of support, hand holding and problem sharing.

Courtesy of owlbooty here are the Ten Commandments of the Freak Out Room.

  1. Thou shalt check thy knickers to the point of insanity until the baby actually arrives.
  2. Thou shalt also check the loo roll post-wipeage (sorry, gross, I know)
  3. Thou shalt bore thy physician and midwife to tears with the mentalling.
  4. And thy husband/boyfriend/family/neighbour's cat.
  5. Thou shalt obsess over the absence of symptoms.
  6. And the presence of symptoms.
  7. And the fluctuation of symptoms.
  8. Thou shalt pee on a vast number of sticks and keep ClearBlue and First Response in business.
  9. The day before any scan extreme mentalling is permitted without recourse to the Haddock.
10. Self-diagnosis with Dr Google is Forbidden.

The Haddock will be applied liberally to all transgressors.

Mistress is your epu self refer or does it have to go via gp? call your gp and tell them you've had a little bleed and as you've previously had a mc you need to get checked at epu.

willit if it was clearblue then 2-3 means 4-5 so that could be about right.

faintlypositive welcome, it is normal to feel like that. don't make yourself worse by feeling it isn't.

CollieandPup · 21/06/2011 07:48

misstress is your mw sympathetic? If not I'd see your gp and get a referal to epu. Or if your epu is good ring them. Do you live near a walk in epu?

Fx it's nothing. Lots of ladies on here have had blood of all colours and have been fine x

Morning to everyone else. I'm so late. Should have left for work 1/2 hourago and have only just got up and am now wasting time on mn

MistressofPemberley · 21/06/2011 09:03

Well, midwife's phone went straight to voicemail with the helpful message "don't leave a message on this phone- call the labour ward"!

Rang local EPU; it is self-referral but no scan appointments till Sunday! 2 days before my 12 week scan anyway. Receptionist is going to get someone to ring me back to give me some advice. In the meantime I will try midwife again after 9am. Maybe if I see a GP they could jump the queue for me.

And breathe. Taken 2 paracetamol so I don't have to feel every twinge. No more serious bleeding; back to occasional spotting. The aches and cramps are worrying me more. I've had both throughout this pregnancy but not at the same time.

Haven't gone in to work so am enjoying a morning of daytime tv rubbish. Then Wimbledon later. Hope you're all ok. Why does this all have to be so flipping stressful?!

CollieandPup · 21/06/2011 09:34

That doesn't sound very helpful of epu mistress surely they must have some urgent appointments. Although saying that I think i waited 5 days. If it gets worse you could maybe stick it put at a&e? Hopefully it won't though. Glad you're not in work. Enjoy daytime tv!!

yrbotb are you lurking? I was thinking about your scan tomorrow and you going all alone. what time is your apt? You'll be going to Leeds right? Not too far from me. I have meetings in the morning I cannot shift but I can move my afternoon things around easily and if you'd like me to come with you I'd me more than happy. I know it's an odd offer, as we don't really 'know' each other, but it might be nicer than going alone. It's a genuine offer, but also don't feel obligied. xx

Blackkat · 21/06/2011 10:29

MistressofP I had a bleed at bang on 11 weeks. (lots on 3 x wipes and then old blood for abt 3/4 days) I was terrified. Scan showed all was well. Apparently a bleed at 11 weeks is "normal" and is caused by the placenta implanting. I was told it is a sign of healthy bean and one that is making itself very secure for the long term. I am not the only one who had this, Ninu and Velvet who are both on the list ahead of me experienced this too, at about the same time. Call your GP, they will get you into scan more quickly. FX for you

Collie you're so sweet, I was going to offer to go with YRMOTB too, I'm in Bradford tomorrow..but you beat me to it. YRMOTB it will be fine, I'm sure. XX

That's a timely reminder, Collie, Minnie lets get sorting our northern meet up.

Lara where are you? Don't tell me you're actually doing some work?

Willitbe Cep is right those CBDigi dates suggest at least 4/5 wks.

to MInnie Scooby, Laylas, Lily, Milkys, Hadrian, HiHP, WIW and to everyone else that Brian dictates I can't remember.

Off to mental abt appointment.........

MistressofPemberley · 21/06/2011 11:19

Thank you Blackcat; your words are very encouraging. Good luck with your appt.

EPU rang me and Sunday really is the earliest. If I end up in A&E things get prioritised I think. At the moment I'm in no hurry to end up in the hospital. My lovely bed, tv, fridge etc are looking after me! Expecting the worst but allthewhile there's no bleeding, I have a glimmer of hope. Stay where you are little bean!

Gosh, just realised what awful bad form it is for a newbie to hijack the thread so dramatically. Sorry all. Come back and chat!

CollieandPup · 21/06/2011 11:21

blackkat I have been thinking the same thing for days and have been meaning to PM you. I think daisy said she'd be interested too. I've totally forgotten who else might be from up north.... yrmotb obv and chloe although she's taking a break at the mo. Have I missed anyone???? Any newbies living in the north that fancy joining a meet up??

Shall we PM people?

Good luck for your apt Hun, will be fine.

V quiet on here today. Where's lara???

I'm totally bored at work today. Had lovely news that work colleague had little girl this morning. Came 2 weeks early. Very inconvenient as we should have been having lunch!!! Very happy for her obv but tinged with sadness as this is the lady who was due at the same time as me. I can't believe I should be having my baby now. Thinking about it and all that has happened just makes me have a major wobble as I regress and wonder if this one will ever arrive safely.

Blackkat · 21/06/2011 11:41

Collie consider yourself haddocked!! All is well and progressing smoothly. It's only natural to feel a little pensive when DD nears, I should've been starting mat leave at the end of this week...it's sad isn't it!

Minnie is up for meet up and Mouse was keen too...will PM you

MistresssofP keep your feet up and don't get too excited about the tennis Smile

Lara where are you???? x

MistressofPemberley · 21/06/2011 12:19

I'll try to contain myself Blackkat, although it's hard to watch Boris Becker and not think about him SWI in a broom cupboard in Nobu. I've eaten there; who the hell has time to think about the ride with all that amazing food on offer. The man's got skewed priorities.

harassedinherpants · 21/06/2011 12:20

you're going to be fine and so is Pup!!

blackkat Good luck for you app lovely, but I'm sure you're going to be fine.

MistressofP welcome and sorry you're in full scale mentalling already. Keep your feet up and rest......

Can someone please tell my ms that as I'm past 12 weeks it should bugger off??? On my 3rd grotty day after a few days break.... lulled me into a false sense of security there for a few days!

faintpositive · 21/06/2011 13:42

Hi,
There is a EPAU at my local hospital BUT although from my date of my last period i am 6 w 3days, from conception i am probably only 4 weeks and i know without a shadow of a doubt that a scan now will not show anything up. Its too early.
I have been here 5 times before and on each of those occasions i presented myself to the unit, only to be sent away for another 10 days because its too early.
I cant do this again.
Im waiting until i KNOW for sure that i will go for one scan, one scan only and i will know absolutely for 100% sure if there is a baby there or not.

That limbo is damaging ro my mental health.
Im doing things very very differently this time, in the vain hope that there is a small chance, that things might go well, for a while, for once for me.

Boobs killing me, but then pregancy symptoms are always very strong with a blighted ovum, so this is not an indication of anything important unfortunately.
another day, no bleeding..long may it last.

bigmacsauce · 21/06/2011 13:53

Hi everyone

Just in between meetings but wanted to say to MistressofP that I had brown / pinky discharge (TMI sorry) from 6 weeks until 13+5 weeks this time with 4 red bleeds at 6+5, 9+3, 10+6 and 13 weeks (and a doozy last week, but that was different) along the way. I hope this is a little bit reassuring for you.

Tennis - one of my friends posted a pic of Nadal on facebook yesterday wearing nothing but a moody look and some pants (Nadal, not friend). I almost passed out (following on from the chat around lusty feelings yesterday).

Blackkat - good luck for your appointment... let us know how you get on

bigmacsauce · 21/06/2011 13:59

faintpositive I really feel for you. It sounds as though you are doing the right thing for yourself at the moment given your past experience. Look after yourself x

cep · 21/06/2011 14:05

i remember during the first few weeks this pg i bled due to a uti.

faint my epu scanned at 6 wks.

bigmac how are you feeling at the moment?

mistress don't worry about hijacking thread, we're all here to support each other.

blackkat goodluck for appt.

Is everyone up Norf??? i'm starting to feel lonely down here, Is there noone down Sowf?

YouremindmeoftheBFP · 21/06/2011 14:17

Awww you guys are all so lovely. How nice of you to offer that. I really appreciate it collie and blackat. I'm at Bradford royal, and my pal has said she will pick me up after as she has to go to a surprise meeting at the uni to talk about an application for a phd. You are both so lovely. Thank you, but I won't impose on you. Aw. We really do need a northern meet up don't we? Let's get it organised asap!

mistress so your 12 week scan is in 2 days before the epu would be able to get one for you? Best of luck.

wombatinwaiting · 21/06/2011 14:22

Hello all and a big welcome and hand-holding to the newbies. Sorry to read that some of you have had stresses already with spotting / bleeding etc. As others have said, it doesn't necessarily mean the worst outcome. I have had two bits of spotting (at around 11 and 16 weeks) that were completely unexplained but all seems ok now

Super glad to hear about all the good scans too and people adding themselves to the list.

Best of luck to you blackkat.

Still here lara and collie - apols - have been a bit busy at work - obviously trying to clear the calendar next week for the big Dubai meet up Grin

Am getting a bit Envy of the movements some of you have been feeling - I know I'm still only 17+5 but I'm a tad impatient!

YouremindmeoftheBFP · 21/06/2011 14:40

Somebody forced me to go to the sweet-shop and buy fizzy worms, pink shrimps, and fizzy bubblegum bottles. I know it was one of you lot.

faint I do agree with you really. If you're 4 weeks from conception then around 6 weeks could be too early. Will you try and wait til after 7 weeks? I suppose that 5 weeks from conception is probably ideal, and less chance of there being an inconclusive result. Hugs though, tis horrible x

Special collie due date type hugs. Mine came and went a long time ago, but it was a horrible time. pup will be fine xx

faintpositive · 21/06/2011 15:06

will be 6 weeks from conception when i get my scan...its all booked.Grin

harassedinherpants · 21/06/2011 15:12

faint my epu also scanned at 6 weeks from LMP (and I saw a hb!) but I think you're sensible to wait until 6 weeks from conception. I had a scan at 8 wks too and saw loads more. Can I ask, why are you a faint positive? What tests did you use?? Just that I've always used to cheapie stick test apart from my last mc when I had strong lines on FR and still mc'd. This one though was 4 faint positives....... and I'm now 13+5.

cep I'm "darn sarf" too! Whereabouts are you? I'm in Hampshire.

bigmac aren't you meant to be resting??? Hmm

I feel sick and bloated.....yuck!

Bumpgrowing · 21/06/2011 15:20

Afternoon girls,

Wow this thread has moved so fast and I am having a bit of brian at the mo so I am never going to remember who said what but...

Hi to the newbies. So sorry some of you have had the bleeding scare. I am sure I would totally freak out if the same happens to me but as lots of the ladies have said, this has happened to them before and everything has turned out fine. Keeping my fingers crossed for you all.

YRMMOFBFP I def remember you're up next for the scan. May this lucky thread continue and good luck!!!! I am sure you won't need it though and am really looking forward to hearing your good news.

I am also sarf...in sarffff London to be precise as is Lara. I have some family in Hampshire so often head down there too.

I also remember reading someone has sweets. I want some please! Just had two pieces of fruit and it is def over rated. I want the sugar and those sour lacey astro belt thingys we were eating last week. Yummalicious!

I thin pregnant people should only have to work a half day. Seriously. There is zero point in me being in this office after 1pm.

xx

cep · 21/06/2011 15:25

ooh ooh i'm hampshire as well. (getting all excited now) I'm down Fareham way.

harassedinherpants · 21/06/2011 15:36

I'm not too far away Cep!! I'm in Andover. Close enough for a meet Grin.

bigmacsauce · 21/06/2011 15:52

Harrassed I was put on rest until the end of yesterday so am now back at my desk but taking it veeerrry easy (being driven in, tea's made, lunch fetched) so feel OK and the bleed has completely stopped. TBH I was starting to mental yesterday as I had spent far too long in the house. By 4pm I had convinced myself that DH was going to play away due to suspension of extra-curricular activities, that the pregnancy was all going to go wrong and that I was useless because I couldn't do any jobs in the house (normally I'm doing everything I can to avoid them!). One cry and a muller rice later I was fine again and DH was eyeing me wondering what the hell was going to happen next :) It's best I'm back at work.

I'm dahn sarf - Brighton

WiW I'm with you on movement - I want to feel it. Although, does feeling it open the door to a whole new world of mentalling we can't even imagine yet??

bigmacsauce · 21/06/2011 15:56

cep thanks for asking - walking like I'm made of glass for fear of causing all hell to break loose, but I'm fine. and not milking it at work at all

Bumpgrowing · 21/06/2011 16:36

Bigmac glad to hear things have settled.

Just had to share with everyone that I am eating quavers. God they are good. I didn't even know I wanted them until I started eating them. Haven't had them for years but I just picked them up in the shop. De-li-cious. Give them a try!

xx
