Freak Out Room For Those Newly Updiffed After M/C Part VII

Blackkat · 05/06/2011 14:30

Just found out you are pregnant after a previous miscarriage and too nervous to move over the to pregnancy boards? Freaking out about spotting, cramping, symptoms (or lack there of) and nervously awaiting your first scan? Here is a lovely place for lot's of support, hand holding and problem sharing.

Courtesy of owlbooty here are the Ten Commandments of the Freak Out Room.

  1. Thou shalt check thy knickers to the point of insanity until the baby actually arrives.
  2. Thou shalt also check the loo roll post-wipeage (sorry, gross, I know)
  3. Thou shalt bore thy physician and midwife to tears with the mentalling.
  4. And thy husband/boyfriend/family/neighbour's cat.
  5. Thou shalt obsess over the absence of symptoms.
  6. And the presence of symptoms.
  7. And the fluctuation of symptoms.
  8. Thou shalt pee on a vast number of sticks and keep ClearBlue and First Response in business.
  9. The day before any scan extreme mentalling is permitted without recourse to the Haddock.
10. Self-diagnosis with Dr Google is Forbidden.

The Haddock will be applied liberally to all transgressors.

Bumpgrowing · 15/06/2011 15:31

Cadmum really sorry to hear that Sad. Hope you have a lot of tlc from your family over the next few days xx

Purple well done for adding yourself to the list!

Hi to every one else. Am eating sweeties again. My teeth are going to rot. Am nto allowing myself to buy them again tomorrow.

xx

bigmacsauce · 15/06/2011 16:02

Hi everyone
I've been lurking here off and on for a while and am currently 16+1 after a miscarriage at 9 weeks on the 2nd Jan. I'm afraid I'm starting with a mememe, bordering on a hormonal rant but have also brought foxes ginger creams and cadbury's fingers to share so hope you'll forgive me...

After having on and off bleeding and brown discharge (sorry for TMI) for the first 13 weeks of this pregnancy, I was starting to kid myself that I was in the clear... bump starting to show (albeit under existing white wine/corona baby bump) and my MS had faded. Today I've been to the loo and FFS, red blood again when I wiped. So I'm now having a mini-freakout. I called EPAC to get a bit of reassurance and was told that it might be because I am constipated and was trying to have a poo Blush and not to worry (ha!). Has anyone else heard of this/had this? I was starting to get generally antsy as the 20wk scan felt like it was a million miles away and now I'm reverting back to extreme knicker-checking ... Why can't I just be a non-bleeder Angry?! Apparently I don't have cervical erosion so noone has any idea why this keeps happening.

To cap it all off I have a craving. Big mac sauce (hence the nickname). Why couldn't I have had a craving for something classy that won't add to the white wine belly baby bump?

cep · 15/06/2011 16:12

bigmacsauce i'm loving maccyd's as well at the moment. am sorry you have the stress of blood. are they going to give you a scan? If not i'd go and sit in a&e until they do just to reassure you. The last time i had any blood it was due to a urine infection.

bigmacsauce · 15/06/2011 16:22

Hi cep The short answer is no as they want to see if anything changes over the next 24 hours in which case they may give me a scan. In the heat of my hormones I forgot I'm seeing the community midwife tomorrow so will also rant talk to her.

If it's big mac sauce that does it for you, I've discovered M&S tangy burger sauce is similar enough to float my boat so that I don't need maccyd's every day. I've been putting it on a plate and eating it on it's own like it's hummous Blush

wombatinwaiting · 15/06/2011 18:44

Great news on the scan layla Smile

Have you actually been to Abu Dhabi esme? It's really not like Dubai.... having said that a lot of people live in Dubai and commute to AD - we can discuss when we meet up to save thread space! Grin Oh, that's of course if I can still meet up after hearing about fart story..... Wink Grin

Sorry you're having all that anxiety bigmacsauce - I had some random pink bleeding around 11 weeks (from memory) and I do remember thinking that I had been straining a lot that day and wondered if that could have caused it..... I didn't actually ask anyone in the end although did google to see if straining could cause m/c and it seemed that it can't.... I'm 17 weeks tomorrow and had another dose of random pink spotting last friday which I think was brought on by sex. It's just been on wiping (sorry for all this TMI) and I've had nothing since (fingers crossed) - not sure if this is much help, but hope it might bring some comfort.... how are things now?

Sorry to hear that cadmum - thinking of you.

Well done purple!

willitbe · 16/06/2011 08:37

Cadmum - so sorry to hear your news.Sad

bigmacsause - yep getting piles and bleeding from them with constipation is a very common thing in pregnancy. A delightful part of pregnancy (not). Careful wiping can determine which location the bleeding is coming from - Shock sorry gross I know! Anyway, I hope that you have had no more scarey loo trips and that it settles down a bit.

Collieandpup - any more preggo-brain moments today to amuse us with!!! Wink

laylasm- great news about the scan.

I am still currently pregnant 4w6d today, my first goal is to get past 5+1 as I have had three m/c's at this point. So far so good for me.

Blackkat · 16/06/2011 09:02

Hello, hope you are all ok?

Laylas so pleased to hear your good scan news.

Izzy I hope your midwife listened for you and all was well Smile [incredulous emoticon at potential lack of care from health professional]

Purple nice to see you on the list.

Cadmum hope you're wrong. FX

Willitbe lovely to read your positivity, I'm crossing everything for next week for you

MaccyD yes, you can have blood linked to constipation, careful wiping is the way forward (and lots of raw carrots) Smile

Esmerelda you found your goat yet???

Collie thanks for making me laugh (I put the kettle in the fridge yesterday and the milk on the kettle holder, and this in the office....)

to WIW, Bump, Minnie, Cep, lily, hadrian and to everyone else

Does this tiredness get any better, I went to bed at 8.30 last night and got up abt 30 mins ago (work from home day) and I feel like I could go back to bed.....please tell me it gets better!!!

harassedinherpants · 16/06/2011 09:51

Morning.....

Cadmum I'm so sorry, really hope you're wrong.

MaccyD agree with blood from constipation and careful wiping! If it's piles, do get some cream. They can be really painful, and excruciating after giving birth

Purpletoes · 16/06/2011 10:31

layla congrats on good scan

harassed Great news on hearing HB and fx on BP.

morning everyone else

So it is beginning to feel a bit more real had GP appointment so booking form sent off for midwife and scan. not sure I can wait till 12 weeks so may try and get a sneaky scan when back in work next week.

DP and I have decided to not tell anyone till scans as it was hard telling close family about the MC last time especially MIL as she had a few prior to having DP.

I know it makes sense but hard not talking to friends thankfully I have MN! Wink

My dilemma is this weekend I have 2 sisters and A nephew coming over for the weekend. Lots of nursing wine glass and hoping that MS doesn't start.

fingers crossed I can keep it secret.

Sorry for such a long me me me post.

milkyways · 16/06/2011 11:14

harrassed Your doctor's comment about baby being a boy just made me splurt my tea out of my mouth!! Hilarious! Congratulations on hearing the hb!

I feel so bad for not being able to keep up with this thread, it moves so incredibly fast!

cadmum have my fx crossed for you x

layla Great news on the scan!

There's talk about constipation and blood - I just wanted to say that I get this too sometimes and agree with the "careful wiping" advice - back first then front :)

Thanks for the reassurances about counselling. I hope the appointments come through quickly as I really feel I need them now.

Went to the surgery today to get follow up blood tests for Vitamin D and Calcium, as I was deficient - I psyched myself up all night, had a nice hot shower to relax myself this morning (as I hate needles). Got there and the phlebotomist told me the doctor wanted the tests to be conducted on the 23rd and so didn't take my bloods. Angry. So now will have to prepare all over again for next week, AND I will have a blood taken on Monday too :(.

Waves at everyone, hope you're all doing well and good luck to anyone with scans this week!

LaraMi · 16/06/2011 11:28

Hello All...

Quick post - frantic waving at all....

Had a fab day off productive day working from home yesterday. (Erm, shopping and lunch with mum and then met up with a close friend afterwards.) Oops...

Got the consultants this afternoon - desired outcome is he checks (and finds) hb. Possible (or likely scenarios are as follows):-

  1. he is a nob and won't check hb
  2. he sticks to the brief and only checks my asthsma (which has been 100% fine) - the whole thing ends up being a box checking exercise
  3. he checks hb and there is a hb
  4. he checks hb and he can't find a hb and sends me home in a panic for the next 4 weeks
  5. he checks hb and doesn't find a hb which results in my world as I know it, imploding

Gunning for 3), crapping myself it'll be 4) or 5) (gahhh) and expecting it to be 1) or 2).

JOY

ps - sorry for mememe... in a state of panic
pps - Blackkat, FYI - Esmerelda (which I discovered I was spelling incorrectly) found the goat, which subsequently ate her so now you're stuck wih Lara

cep · 16/06/2011 11:40

milky good luck for blood test next week.

lara what time this afternoon? will be keeping fx for you that he does what you need him to. Can understand you worrying. i have my 20 wk next wk and am little worried. The little blighter isn't being obvious with it's movements today.

hihp so glad you heard hb, it is really calming isn't it.

it's my dd today and am feeling a little low but not too bad. am off work as ds had a high temp when i picked him up yesterday and again this morning. Plus i was feeling a bit dizzy again this morning, so i'm comfort eating, which the week before my fat girl consultant appt probably isn't the best move.

Blackkat · 16/06/2011 11:42

lara he will check for the HB, and he will find it Smile and if minigoatbean is being unco-operative and lurking underneath your pelvis or similar he will arrange a scan to set your mind at rest. Smile

Loving your work from home day!! my washing is nearly dry today Grin

milky sorry to hear the bloods weren't taken, it's horrible when you psyche yourself up for sth and it doesn't happen.

Harrassed I can't wait to blooming well bloom either...yay for HB, and rest if poss for the BP.

Blackkat · 16/06/2011 11:43

Cep xposts. Thinking of you today (((((hugs))))) Hope DS feels better soon too. Hands over hot chocolate and non calorific cake x

OP posts:
LaraMi · 16/06/2011 12:14

Group hug for CEP.... Hoping you have lots of strength and wishing for lots of happy things to come your way today to take your mind off dd. I am sure that whatever you eat today won't make a difference to what happens at the consultants appt in one whole week's time.

My appt is at 14.50.

Blackkat - glad your day is as productive. It's peeing it down with rain here (otherwise I'd have done the washing too). Got a splitting headache again and so just fell asleep on sofa, bberry in hand and laptop on coffee table. Looks like today will be as productive.....

Blackkat · 16/06/2011 14:25

Good Luck Lara thinking of you x

mamarara · 16/06/2011 17:37

Hi ladies.

cadmum I am so sorry that is very sad for you. As the others say, I hope you are wrong.

Lara hope it went ok at gp today and he found hb for you.

Also thanks Lara and collie for words of wisdom. My mentalling is still ridiculous but nice to know I am not just bonkers. First mw appt on Monday so will have to face up to it then.

Anyone heard from hairy recently?

Blackkat · 16/06/2011 17:41

Lurking for Lara .........................

Cep hope you have a good evening x

OP posts:
LaraMi · 16/06/2011 18:09

LADIESSSSS - had to log in quickly...

Appt went a treat... Hospital were incompetent idiots as usual (they booked the wrong appt for me, i.e. not the consultants appt I was supposed to have but ANOTHER routine MW appt). Anyways took the opportunity to have a load of random qs answered and best of all, heard minigoatbean's heartbeat! Woo hooo!

Hope you all had good days today. I still maintain this is the best thread to be... I think Blackkat needs to start all our threads going forward - she is the thread-master.

CEP - are you ok hun?

Waves to mamarara (always struggle to spell your name!)

Blackkat · 16/06/2011 18:54

Woop de doop for lara and minigoatbean splendiforous news!!! Grin Grin Tsk and rubbish for usual hospital cock up, they really are covering themselves in shite.

No pressure re the thread then...beginning to get a bit concerned about m/w appt on Tuesday in case they can't find the heartbeat...DH thinks I'm being silly....

OP posts:
Minnie74 · 16/06/2011 19:53

Yaaayyyy lara on the great scan and hb news. Grin

blackkat Tues will be fine!

layla yaaayy for your scan too.

bigmac every time I see your posts I want to rush out and get a Maccyd's! Grin Any kind!

harrassed hb story made me laugh- fx for the bp falling.

cep hope you're feeling ok now x

Think I need a big fish slapping myself today.[embarrassed] A friend at work told me she's also pg today (9 weeks) so alongside congratulating her I immediately thought 'Oh thats it for me then- I'm bound to have another mc now!' Geeez I'm such a positive person!!!! blackkat feel free to return the fish slapping!

harassedinherpants · 16/06/2011 20:53

blackkat you get the haddock for mentalling! It's going to be fine lovely.

lara boo for crap hospital but yaaay for fab appointment.

cep thinking of you lovely, hope you're ok x

izzy slap yourself with that fish please!

Sorry about that milky Grin

Off to bed in a minute I think. Well upstairs at least! I've sorted a pile of clothes that don't fit, and have a mahoosive pile of books to get rid of. What do you do with old books?? They're not that old really, just used!

Had a chat with mw today, and it sems there's not much I can actually do bring down my bp as it's prob more to do volume of blood rather than the amount of crap I've been eating . Oh and I signed up for preg yoga!! 6 weeks starting on Wednesday. It's £8.00 for 1.5hours which I thought was quite good.

mamarara · 16/06/2011 22:59

Yippee for good scan layla.
And Brilliant on hb -Lara even if they are so disorganised!
