Freak Out Room For Those Newly Updiffed After M/C Part VII

Blackkat · 05/06/2011 14:30

Just found out you are pregnant after a previous miscarriage and too nervous to move over the to pregnancy boards? Freaking out about spotting, cramping, symptoms (or lack there of) and nervously awaiting your first scan? Here is a lovely place for lot's of support, hand holding and problem sharing.

Courtesy of owlbooty here are the Ten Commandments of the Freak Out Room.

  1. Thou shalt check thy knickers to the point of insanity until the baby actually arrives.
  2. Thou shalt also check the loo roll post-wipeage (sorry, gross, I know)
  3. Thou shalt bore thy physician and midwife to tears with the mentalling.
  4. And thy husband/boyfriend/family/neighbour's cat.
  5. Thou shalt obsess over the absence of symptoms.
  6. And the presence of symptoms.
  7. And the fluctuation of symptoms.
  8. Thou shalt pee on a vast number of sticks and keep ClearBlue and First Response in business.
  9. The day before any scan extreme mentalling is permitted without recourse to the Haddock.
10. Self-diagnosis with Dr Google is Forbidden.

The Haddock will be applied liberally to all transgressors.

Ohh feck!! I meant noone has noticed my bump yet, or perhaps they're just being polite, or maybe I was just fat?? Blaming Brian for incompetent postGrin

Esmerelda I love your new name!!!!! Grin Grin I have a great mental picture of you now! Grin

Collie my bottom hurts, just the left hand cheek Shock you can get PGP or whatever it's called this early in pregnancy, mine hurts when I move about and when I'm sat at my desk, I'm going to talk to my m/w next week to see if I can get some osteo help.

Right back to the chalk face.

CollieandPup · 14/06/2011 16:17

Grin esmerelda at name change.

blackkat just googled pgp and that sounds more likely than sdp going off my symptoms but still not sure.

Been to ask about my chair though and have to arrange for someone to come and do risk assessment! Dear lord, another ordeal to go through. Said, can't I just get a cushion? Aparaently not, if the chair isn't right Ill need a new one! No cushions. I know I shoukd be pleased they at least take it seriously, but I just hate a fuss! Oh well, if it gets rid of the pain I'm not complaining, I'm in agony!

Think might make an apt to see gp. Failing that I might find a physio or chiro with experience of working with pg women. Dh has a good chiro but not sure how much work of pg women he has done.

EsmereldaLara · 14/06/2011 16:27

Wowsas - at least your workplace takes it seriously - I was 90% certain my workplace would tell me to sort my own damned cushion out.

Bumpgrowing · 14/06/2011 16:29

Sorry to hijack but help! Am feeling so so sick. Am close to vomming on my desk. I am stuck at work and don't know what to do. I've tried crackers, had a walk and a glass of water and I still feel so sick. What else can I try???

uggggggggggghhhhhhhhhh.........

EsmereldaLara · 14/06/2011 16:39

Awww Hun! You're not hijacking - this is our thread! Ginger biscuits? Go and wash your face with cold water. Might help slightly....

Otherwise can you tell them you feel poorly and go home?

Bumpgrowing · 14/06/2011 16:45

Have tried a ginger biscuit but it hasn't worked yet.

I would so love to go home I don't think I could actually go on the tube at the mo. I'm bad on the tube on a good day and the thought of being jiggled around is not appealing.

I want something...I just don't know what. I feel like if I ate something sharp like those funny sugary sweets it would go...either that or make me more sick!

Bumpgrowing · 14/06/2011 16:49

This is what I want. I used to eat them when I was about 7 years old. I have no idea where to buy them in the City!

EsmereldaLara · 14/06/2011 16:53

Awww - yes, love them! Do you have one of those small Tescos, Waitroses or Sainsbury Locals near your office? If so then go to the sweetie section! You might find something similar. M&S does very good sweeties too... They have a section in the larger M&S stores where they stock old fashioned sweetie shop sweets.

Tube is horrendous - I had to take it briefly to get to barristers last week in Chancery Lane and it was horrific. Thankfully I take the overground directly home in 12 mins and it's so much better.

Bumpgrowing · 14/06/2011 17:11

There is a god! I am back from a old fashioned sweet shop (who knew there is one 5 mins from here) with astro belts....and umm..giant worms, strawberries and those funny jelly rings. All coated in sugar. Perhaps not the healthiest snack but I don't feel sick anymore...at least I don't feel pregnancy sick...am heading slightly towards sweetie sick however.

LaraMi · 14/06/2011 17:22

Yeyyy for the sweet shop man! I think our bodies are very clever in telling us what they need... Maybe your blood sugar was just running low. (Now I fancy those sweets and am wondering how I can pick them up on my way home!)

laylasmummy09 · 14/06/2011 20:12

hi all, im loving all this sweetie talk ive gone through loads of bags of lollies with dd's help they really make a difference,
i had a great scan today measured at 8+2 perfect, good strong heartbeat and crl 17 mm we could even see little legs making tiny movements and got a pic Smile im still in shock because i was convinced it would be bad news,
on the down side mil and sil have guessed im pregnant because of something my sister said and im sooo not ready for people to know, i got the whole 2we'll sort it out whatever happens" and "what will be will be speech" why is is soo hard to keeep a secret?
oh well just got to keep focusing on the little jumping bean we saw this morning Grin

cep · 14/06/2011 21:04

layla so pleased for such a great scan.

ooh sugary sweeties fancy those belts now.

mamarara · 14/06/2011 22:06

Hey ladies
Brilliant news in good scans ladies! Chuffed to bits for you.

I'd have been furious with the mw izzy after laughing at that! That is so insensitive! Rar.

I haven't posted for a while as am just being a miserable cow and don't just want to constantly whinge. But have pretty much convinced myself I am not pg. Am too scared to go for a scan as am sure it will be bad news. But at the same time not knowing is sending me insane. Anyone further along have any advice on dementalling?

Sorry to hear about the spotting/general scariness. Hope you're all ok.

Cadmum · 15/06/2011 07:34

I was being 'optimistic'... Bleeding properly today at 5+4. Back off again.

Wishing you all the best!

CollieandPup · 15/06/2011 08:49

cadmum Sad so so sorry. Are you sure it's over? Are you going to go to epu or anything. Hoping you're wrong. ((big hugs))

mamara sweetie, I don't think anything will stop the mentalling until you have the baby in your arms- I have meltdown days still. IMO though a scan is the only thing that helped me. it helped a but at 6 wks, just knowing it was there and the heart was beating. I can't begin to express how reassuring the scan at 10/11wks was. I can understand your fear though, and it's totally a personal choice. But I'd have the scan. Has horrid as it sounds, if it's bad news, you'll need to know eventually, but if it's good at least you can relax a little. Other than that, just take one day at a time, every day is an achievement! When people ask me how far gone I am I think they expect me to tell them in months, and I tell them in days! Because each one is so precious!

layla yay for great scan xx

I've had ANOTHER Brian moment today. I had DHs car yesterday. Left his keys in my bag and left for work in my car. So he's been fiddling around trying to get our spare set working-which have a flat battery for the last 1/2 hr. I did suggest he get the train but the station is a 50 min walk so I don't think he appreciated that. I am in soooooo much trouble!! do you think I can blame it on the baby?

LaraMi · 15/06/2011 08:49

Cadmum - sorry to hear your news but fingers crossed it might just be some of the early bleeding other ladies have had.

Mamarara - I can totally empathise - I too was too terrified to hpt and then to scan and now at almost 17 weeks I still remain convinced that it's not real. Fear / denial are totally normal emotions IMHO. I can't recall how far along you are but I'd advise you to try and pluck up the courage to go for a scan at the 8 week mark (if you're further along then all the better!) by which time the view will be good. Best case it's all going swimmingly. Worst case, at least you know where you stand. NB - we've all felt exactly the same as you and look at the stats! As the mantra goes - the odds are strongly in your favour that everything will be fine!

Layla - woo hoo yabba dooooo for fab scan news...

Off to have some toast and marmite before the cleaners get here and banish me from the kitchen (working from home day)

CollieandPup · 15/06/2011 09:05

Where's esmerelda gone?? Grin

LaraMi · 15/06/2011 09:09

She's run off with her goat....

CollieandPup · 15/06/2011 09:40

Goes in search if goat.....

I'm on fire today! 2nd brian moment and it's not even 10am. Just realised I'm wearing odd earings!!! One large White fake pearl, and one small real gray one Blush

LaraMi · 15/06/2011 10:20

DH just rang me to ask me whether I'd be interested in moving out to Abu Dhabi for a while as he "might have an opportunity" with his company. Never said yes so quickly... Would be a fab way to spend maternity leave...

Don't reckon it'll happen though...

Cadmum · 15/06/2011 10:23

I'm 99% sure. If I hadn't POAS, I would think that I was just late...

CollieandPup · 15/06/2011 10:47

cadmum that's so cruel I'm so sorry. Sad are you off today? I hope so. Thinking of you x
