Freak Out Room For Those Newly Updiffed After M/C Part VII

Blackkat · 05/06/2011 14:30

Just found out you are pregnant after a previous miscarriage and too nervous to move over the to pregnancy boards? Freaking out about spotting, cramping, symptoms (or lack there of) and nervously awaiting your first scan? Here is a lovely place for lot's of support, hand holding and problem sharing.

Courtesy of owlbooty here are the Ten Commandments of the Freak Out Room.

  1. Thou shalt check thy knickers to the point of insanity until the baby actually arrives.
  2. Thou shalt also check the loo roll post-wipeage (sorry, gross, I know)
  3. Thou shalt bore thy physician and midwife to tears with the mentalling.
  4. And thy husband/boyfriend/family/neighbour's cat.
  5. Thou shalt obsess over the absence of symptoms.
  6. And the presence of symptoms.
  7. And the fluctuation of symptoms.
  8. Thou shalt pee on a vast number of sticks and keep ClearBlue and First Response in business.
  9. The day before any scan extreme mentalling is permitted without recourse to the Haddock.
10. Self-diagnosis with Dr Google is Forbidden.

The Haddock will be applied liberally to all transgressors.

thanks hadrian that is reassuring, congratulations on a good scan Smile
bump i have been thinking that too but hadrian is right 2 weeks is not long and im keeping everything crossed for you.

milkyways · 13/06/2011 19:13

Hi everyone- great news on all the positive scans - gives me a little hope too!

I'm sorry some of you have been spotting, I know it's the worst feeling not knowing what is happening, but keep positive and I am sure everything will be ok.

Had my scan today - I can't quite believe that I have got to 10wks+1d. My baby was laying very still with heart beating healthily. I've got to 3 weeks past my milestone now (all my babies died between 5 and 7 weeks). I should be feeling more positive and happy now but i'm not, so I will be making an appointment with my gp and asking for counselling as I am sure how I feel isn't normal. Has anyone else here had miscarriage counselling?

IzzyWizzyletsgetbusy · 13/06/2011 19:28

Great news on more good scans Grin - bump there is not a finite number of good scans to go around, you know, we can all have one Smile

yrmotb I missed your post earlier, well done on getting through the booking in (what did you have an erpc for - WTF??!). Iirc, mine was pretty much an unmitigated disaster, mw couldn't even log me on the system properly because it was showing me as 52 weeks pg, ie from the mmc last year. For some reason this kept making her laugh Angry. I have my 16-wk appt tomorrow and have already fallen out with them about it because they don't listen to hb anymore and I don't see the point going. Bloody MWs.

Anyway, is that it now until the 12 wk scan? I have a feeling yours is about the 22nd, is that right?

Minnie74 · 13/06/2011 20:11

Quick question- my ms seemed to stop last week (felt much better). Last night and today I've felt and been really sick. Way more than previously as then I only felt sick with mainly a lot of retching. Now I'm actually properly food sick! Grim! Do you think this is a bug and not ms? Or does ms change? Worried in case it's a bug and it might cause another mc Confused I'm 14 weeks and thought it might be slowing down by now Smile

cep · 13/06/2011 21:01

yay for great scan news. congrats everyone.

collie i told them before having the card and they took my word for it. When i got my card i showed them then.

wombatinwaiting · 14/06/2011 07:42

Morning all - it's been a busy old thread recently! Firstly, great news on great scans hadrian and jiggle - a Christmas bub, how lovely!

Here's a couple of tins of sardines for you bump - you did ask....! Hadrian is spot on with her stats. Thinking of you though and hoping you have lots to distract you in the next couple of weeks.

I know lara's real name too now - when she told me it is Esmerelda, I thought it was quite unusual.... Wink Grin - hadn't thought about all the embarassing fanjo info we've shared, I'm sure we'll gloss over that though!

Loving your brian moment collie - I had a great one at the weekend. Sitting at lunch in a group of about 12 friends chatting to one lady and said so where's your husband today? Erm, sitting right opposite me , she replied. I know them both very well and had kissed him hello when we met outside the restaurant about 20 mins previously Blush - what I was / wasn't thinking, I just don't know! In my very slight defence, I had been told the week before that he wasn't coming but all the same..... Blush

Glad to hear that you had a good scan milky - I had some counselling sessions post mc2 and it was hugely helpful and I couldn't recommend it enough - be sure you're comfortable with your counsellor. Mine wasn't a specialist mc counsellor but that didn't matter. And in terms of what it's "normal" to feel, I believe that there is no "normal" and what you're feeling is perfectly valid. I'm sure there is someone else on here or the grads thread who has had counselling but my memory fails me for now....

I'm no expert or indeed a sufferer from ms minnie but are you having a dodgy tummy too at the moment? That may be more indication of a bug and even if you do have a bug, it's far more likely it will be taking itself out on you, not minniebean. From what I've read, ms can reappear any time throughout pg in all sorts of forms. Sending hugs.

Hope you're not in too much pain cep.

Waves to all!

wombatinwaiting · 14/06/2011 07:44

Oh and izzy v Angry on your behalf at insensitive m/w.... hope your appointment today proves to be better than expected....

LaraMi · 14/06/2011 09:01

Thanks WIW!!! As revenge I will start our meet-up with a fanjo-related conversation....! (All, to clarify, my name isn't Esmerelda!)

On the subject of fanjos, let me start the day off with a classic. My poor DH (and you'll see why I said "poor" in a sec) bumped into our neighbour last night as he was parking up his vespa. Note it wasn't the neighbour who commented on my increasing boob size last week.... Anyways, he'd barely said hello to her when she launched into a monologue about how he must keep having lots of S.E.X. with me throughout my pg "in order to keep my fanjo as elastic as possible for labour.."!!!!!!!!!! Euch and CRINGE! I think between us, we're going to avoid our whole street for the rest of my pg.

And on top of that, it's currently 08.54 and a colleague has already touched my stomach. Why is my body now public property??

Rant over. Hope the first topic didn't gross you out over your breakfasts...

Bump, I am very close to you - in Streatham Hill. Frustratingly, the NCT classes in my neighbourhood were scrapped due to a "lack of take-up". I could therefore choose between Balham, Brixton, Clapham Old Town, Herne Hill or West Dulwich (the closest options - there are classes in Southfields BTW). Anyways none of the aforementioned are ideal - probably Balham is the best as we tend to socialise around there. However, the classes there were three full days over two consecutive weekends and I thought the intensity of it would kill me be too much. We went with Brixton in the end as it's only three mins in the car only a ten minute walk away and I hoped that as that is the closest, maybe the Streatham Hill mums would go there. Anyways - in any event, maybe you and I could arrange a South London meet-up one of these fine days... My mum lives round the corner from you (Wimbledon Village) so I am always zipping over to your neck of the woods.

Grrrr for thoughless midwives - sometimes I think mine are too overstretched to even cope with basic courtesy.

Yeyy for more good scan results - this thread is THE place to be!

Bumpgrowing · 14/06/2011 10:28

Morning!

Thanks for the fish slaps and positive words of encouragement! Am feeling positive today (or at least pretending I am). This thread, I have decided, is going to be the excellent scan results thread. Everyone here is going to have a lovely scan without exception. Its the rule ( which will no -doubt come back and bite me on the a**)

Sprinkling positive scan dust everywhere (they really do need a glittery symbol on here...) Grin

xxxx

Gah!! Sorry busy at work.... and a bit freaked to see so many of you on the grads board!!

Great news about Hadrian and Milkyways good scans yesterday.

Izzy your m/w sounds appalling, I hope she did listen to the HB for you.

lara I've been trying to work out what your real name is now!!!!! WIW made me laugh.

Anyone else suffering with sneezing?? No-one at work has said anything yet, hoping it's bcs I wasn't so fat to start with noone can tell!!! Shock

to everyone

OP posts:
LaraMi · 14/06/2011 13:22

Not understanding your penultimate statement, Blackkat - what's the issue with sneezing and being / not being fat???? Don't get it

I am way to freaked out to join the other thread. Rather paranoid too cos my immediate due date neighbours have both joined. I cannot / will not join until I have further proof of this pg (besides the growing bump - that doesn't count)

harassedinherpants · 14/06/2011 13:26

I'm sneezing.....but due to hayfever, not fat. Although am fat Grin.......

I tried on a dress this morning that I was planning to wear to a wedding reception, and it would have been idea.......but my boobs are too big!!! I've only worn it once, and it's been in the cupboard ever since Hmm

Lara you have a growing belly....you're going to be fine!!!

Still confused over the connection between sneezing and fat... Someone please explain...

Name not Esmerelda. Or anything even close to Esmerelda.

Bumpgrowing · 14/06/2011 13:52

Don't worry ladies, will meet up with Esmeralda in Wimbledon Village and steal her driving licence when she is in the loo. Am thinking its an anagram of Larami hmmmmmm I shall ponder....

LaraMi · 14/06/2011 14:00
harassedinherpants · 14/06/2011 14:00

I've no idea what the connection is Esmerelda!! I just know that I'm sneezing due to hayfever, although I am a bit fat........

Good idea bump Grin

CollieandPup · 14/06/2011 14:53

Bump lovely to hear from you. I have got the haddock ready, but because you are feeling more positive this morning I?ll refrain from slapping you with it ? for now! Good scans only please! We have had a good run and I think we?ll continue, its all the positive thoughts we all generate for each others bumps I think!

milky and Hadrian fab news on the good scan results. Hadrian wow I can?t believe you got a whole 40 mins to watch your bean. Even in my private apt I only got about 15 mins! Milky you had such a good scan, I hope you can draw some comfort from that. But its understandable that you still feel so anxious and withdrawn about it. I didn?t have any counselling after my mc, but was very close to seeking it. I think it?s worth a go and lots of ladies on these threads have had it and its helped them tremendously. There is no shame in it whatsoever. ((hugs))

izzy I?m Shock at your experience at your mw apt and you being 52 wks pg! Sounds a bit like my experience when they had all my old dates in the system too!! I can?t believed she thought it was funny though. I feel like slapping her for you!

Minnie ms can come and go, I still get the odd day where I feel sick ? in fact I was really nauseous last Tuesday. Could also be a bit of a bug though?

Grin @ Esmeralda?s DH fanjo conversation with neighbour! PSML. Aww, don?t be shy Esmeralda ?.Grin

blackkat I have sneezing issues too, but I hope think that?s the hayfever, not the fat! Confused

wombatinwaiting · 14/06/2011 14:55

Oops - think I might have started something here esmerelda lara....

And yes to sneezing more and not just dainty sneezes - full-on man style sneezes!

Any more news willitbe? Hope all is well.

Have just realised I seem to be spending more time here than on the grads thread.... is that allowed? Confused Blush

CollieandPup · 14/06/2011 15:06

Just realised I missed half my post off - my bit --and the most important?Grin

Has anyone else got back ache? I?ve had this now for about a week and its getting gradually worse. Started as a bit of pain in the right side of my lower back/upper bum area. Then also started in my upper back in line with the lower back. And now today I have an ache in the left side ? but its more my hip! I hardly every get back pain, apart from the odd occasion I?ve pulled a muscle at the gym so its very annoying and I;m a bit worried as 17 weeks seems a bit early to be having this trouble. I read the links you gave yesterday cep on spd, I don?t think its that as I don?t seem to have the symptoms?..but I don?t know. Anyone else suffering / got any advice? Thought about seeing my go but not really sure they can do anything.

EsmereldaLara · 14/06/2011 15:16

Can you tell I'm bored today???

Collie - I have awful lower back ache too. Also "coincides" with my bump increasing in size (literally over the course of a day it increases). In fact, you might recall my grumbling yesterday which resulted in HR ordering me a lumbar support for my chair. It arrived two hours ago and the difference is tremendous. Back has stopped aching and it's easing the pressure off my stomach too. I guess it's cos our bodies are changing and so everything is positioned differently

WIW - Yes staying here is allowed - this is our safe house! Going to the grads thread is like being let loose into the big wide world.. We know only nice stuff happens here (that's why I'm staying for now). Plus I've been talking to the ladies here for months and months. The other ladies are absolutely lovely I know but seeing their stats with huge numbers is quite scary! I still don't feel confident that I'll end up that far down the pregnancy line...

Got my consultants appt on Thurs and am asking them to check heartbeat. Now panicking already that they might not be able to. And what if they can't? Will then just say "oh well" and let me go home and sit and crap myself worry until the 21 week scan. Or what if they don't check the heartbeat at all.

So very bored....

I've got a sneezing

EsmereldaLara · 14/06/2011 15:16

oops - TEMPORARY

EsmereldaLara · 14/06/2011 15:21

oops - my posts are going nuts... forgot to tell you the last part of my post (in my excitement at new name change)

I've got a sneezing story... DH was being very loving in bed the other evening... cuddled up (spoons) and stroking my tummy... Anyways - I suddenly got a huge urge to sneeze... and accidentally farted on him...! As you can imagine, it killed all the love and romance - he wasn't very impressed with me.
