I know what your mean AuntieD - I was busy convincing myself that I was pregnant and somehow I was one of "those" women you read about who defied medical science etc etc.... Blush

It is so desperately unfair - but we will all get there in the end Grin

IfAtFirstUDontSucceed · 25/10/2011 17:30

Squirrel I'm on the grapefruit juice too, and it does increase EWCM, as I never used to have anything worth getting excited about!

Auuntie Sorry, I'm baffled by your chart. If it wasnt for the FM readings, I would have said yes to CD16 as ov day. Do the sticks work like OPKs and could you have gotten a different reading at a different time of day, or could the reading got diluted with lots of drinking? It's all shit isnt it :(

SpeckyB · 26/10/2011 20:26

Hi

I'm new to Mumsnet, and have been TTC for 5 months. This is the first month that I have done a chart. The reason I started to chart is because I seem to have conflicting symptoms each month. I get a positive (smiley face) on the clear blue OPK on day 12, but the EWCM comes after ovulation ( a week late in most instances). Also my cycle length varries from 28 days to 32 days My chart this month is typical for OPK and EWCM. I don't get second peak on the OPK, so I don't think its delayed ovulation.

Do any of your charters find that your temp does not cross check to CM and OPK. I've tried to research a reason, but can't find anything online.

I would be grateful for help / advice. www.fertilityfriend.com/home/380341

Poppyjen · 26/10/2011 21:22

HI Specky - I have had a look at your chart, that is so confusing you poor thing! Taken without the OPK I would say you ovulated on day 22 as this is the day before the temp rise and also the last day of your EWCM.

I have heard that OPKs can be extremely unreliable for some women, especially with problems like PCOS as there may be high levels of LH at various points in a cycle, and then you may miss the surge as it happens just after you have used an OPK so by the next day it is negative if you see what I mean.

Sorry to ask what may be a silly question but have you taken a pregnancy test? If you are 16dpo then you should either have AF or a BFP by now Smile if not then you ovulated later (my bet is on day 22)

Try to think positively here too - if it was day 22 then you definitely DTD at the right time and your temps are on an excellent upwards trajectory so fingers crossed you'll get a BFP in a few days. If not, count back 14 days from the start of your AF and see where that falls on your chart, that will give you a better idea of when your ovulation actually happens. (Note - not all luteal phases are 14 days I know mine is currently a pitiful 11 - but at least if you use 14 days as a guide you'll be able to see a rough guide as to where your ovulation was).

Hope that makes sense, I am happy to explain it better if it doesn't!

Poppyjen · 26/10/2011 21:24

My goodness, that last bit was very badly worded - so sorry, its late and I haven't eaten yet Grin

SpeckyB · 26/10/2011 22:52

Thanks for reviewing my chart and for your advice Poppyjen - it's nice to get someone else's opinion.

I wondered about the PCOS point, but I thought I might see more OPK surges. Its possible I could have missed them though. I don't have any of the symptoms, but then I know that it can br symptomless.

FF said I ovulated on day 22 at first, and then moved it to day 18, then back to 12. I haven't tested as the last 2 months my cycles have been 33 and 32 days (got BFNs along the way) and so thought it best to wait. I'm trying to resist the tests because I have already spent a fortune on them already!

IfAtFirstUDontSucceed · 31/10/2011 19:47

Helo-o-o-o-o-oo where has everyone disappeared to??

Poppyjen · 31/10/2011 20:16

I'm still here! Smile

FF has given me cross hairs at a very odd point in my cycle - anyone care to have a look and see what you think? chart is here

IfAtFirstUDontSucceed · 31/10/2011 21:44

Why do you think it's an odd point Poppy? Is it's because it's earlier than prevous cycles?

I'm on CD12 so the SWI has commenced Grin

Poppyjen · 31/10/2011 21:55

Yes a lot earlier than other cycles (although I have been taking Bvits and agnus castus this cycle) - but also it just doesn't look like the temp rises I have had before - also I still seem to be getting EWCM so all in all rather Confused

Have fun with the SWI Grin I think we'll be doing the same, y'know just in case.... Smile

Squirrel77 · 01/11/2011 10:27

Hi folks - I'm back! Been abroad for the past week. It's amazing how being abroad combined with AF completely stopped my obsession with TTC - temporarily (and mucked up my temps, grrrr). Am going to try OPK's this week, and am also armed with grapefruit juice! Hope everyone is well.

IfAtFirstUDontSucceed · 02/11/2011 19:52

Welcome back Squirrel hope you're feeling nice and refreshed and ready to jump back on the TTC bandwagon.!

Poppy just looking at your chart - are you still getting EWCM eventhough FF thinks you've ovlated! Strange!

Well I'm on CD14, and think I may have ov'd today as had some suspicious twinges this afternoon. Which is a shame as we've only managed to get in two days worth of SWI. We'll try once more for luck, and see what the BBT says in the morning!

Lexie1970 · 03/11/2011 11:37

Hi

Just starting this charting business and hope you ladies might be the font of all knowledge :)

Do you have to use a proper BBt thermometer or can you use an ear thermometer? I have a Braun Thermoscan which gives accurate temps and is obviously not cheap rubbish...

I can't get my head around feeling CM so will be content to just track temp at this stage and also have CB fertility monitor which I will use in tandem

Ta very muchly in advance ladies

Lex

Squirrel77 · 04/11/2011 13:05

Welcome Lexie! Can't help you with the thermometer issue but sounds like it should be ok, provided it is valid to two decimal places - important for accuracy. I got my normal oral digital one for £4 on Amazon - lots cheaper than Boots. Hope that helps.

Hi IfAtFirstUDon'tSucceed - hope you are ovulating and manage to get in some more SWI!

I'm on CD 12 now, got a faint line on a OPK yesterday (which I understand is negative) then no line at all today...gonna get busy with DH as much as possible over the next few days though. Poor man, he is on early shifts at the moment and and not really as up for it as he should be...

I went for a scan so they could look at my endometriosis yesterday (I do not recommend cycling 5 miles with an extremely full bladder to the hospital) and the lady doing the scan said my ovaries looked "healthy and active," which is a nice thing to hear!

Take care, ladies!

IfAtFirstUDontSucceed · 04/11/2011 18:59

Hmm, CD16 and temps still low - very unusual Confused www.fertilityfriend.com/home/IfAtFirstUDontSucceed

IfAtFirstUDontSucceed · 04/11/2011 19:03

OOps posted to quickly.

I was going to also say that DH & I had our first TTC argument last night :( We we're going for the every night till ovulation, but as it's taking a bit longer than usual, he's exausted. In the end, we didnt bother yesterday, but we were best of friends again by morning.
TTC sucks!

HaveALittleFaithBaby · 04/11/2011 19:11

Hi I'm.still lurking and may chip in. Howdy lexie. Taking charge of your fertility says not to use ear thermometer because it's not close enough to your core temperature. Oral or fanjo is best.
if what do you fight about? Sucks doesn't it?!

IfAtFirstUDontSucceed · 04/11/2011 21:12

Faith Not so much fighting, just a case of him complaining that he's tired and feeling under pressure to 'perform' and me stressing that we'll waste yet another month. And them him huffing then apologising and then me huffing and then apologising, and by then it was midnight and we were both shattered. It all just got a bit silly! :(

HaveALittleFaithBaby · 04/11/2011 21:14

Ah yes, had that before. Especially since the high prolactin can cause trouble in the performance area. Glad you're friends again :)

Squirrel77 · 05/11/2011 09:23

That is beginning to happen with me too and its only the 2nd cycle of TTC! The last thing I want is to pressure DH into DTD but sometimes feel like he doesn't quite appreciate that there is only a small window each month...

Chart is all over the place. I blame stress this month.

Lexie1970 · 05/11/2011 11:45

Morning ladies

well proper thermometer arrived yesterday but needs to have new batteries grrrr!!

Still waiting for CBFM to arrive but thinking that I may as well start doing the whole temp thing even thought period is not due for a week or two - so bloody unpredictable can never tell.

I know you are supposed to take temp as soon as you wake up but roughly at same time - what happens if you are woken in middle of night to either go and attend monster child or monster child dives into bed with you does this effect the temp reading??

For what it's worth when fell pregnant last year (ended in miscarriage at 12 weeks :( ) our method of ttc was to swi on last day of period and then at day 10 BD every other day for 10 days. This saved continuous BD which to be frank does become a bit of a chore and am I the only one who would rather deed was done pronto and then I can go to sleep? :)

Enjoy your bonfire weekends!

IfAtFirstUDontSucceed · 05/11/2011 13:40

Right, I have no idea whats going on. I'm on CD17 as sill no sign of ov, which is very unusual for me, the latest i've EVER ov'd is CD16. Slight temp increase this morning, but nothing significant, so FF doent think I've ov'd yet.

I'm useless at checking my cervix, and I never realy get any EWCM - so I'm stumped! Only thing that I can go on, is that the ov pain I get has stopped. Confused

AuntieDoris · 05/11/2011 14:09

I had the most bizarre cycle ever last month. CBFM never detected a peak so I have no idea what was going on!

Squirrel77 · 08/11/2011 08:16

Hi AuntieDoris it must be so frustrating when that happens! I've just had 5 mysterious days of negative OPKs which is annoying enough.

IfAtFirst is there any sign of the phantom ovulation this month?

I thought I discovered some EWCM last night (after digging around) Blush but on proudly announcing this to DH he said he was 'too old' to DTD two nights in a row!

I wonder how Stasi is - she got married on the weekend so is hopefully on the way to her BFP this month! Come back and say hi!

Right, off to work (groan)

IfAtFirstUDontSucceed · 09/11/2011 18:44

Yep, FF has decided that I ov'd after all, although two days after we decided to pack in SWI Angry www.fertilityfriend.com/home/IfAtFirstUDontSucceed
