Ah yes... Obama. I also love Michelle though, and I now have to find that thread. 4am for a workout...? WTF?! I wish I was a morning person.

Sorry about the eyeful Sunny - the "kiwi position" is obviously my favourite, and how nice it is to have Juan incarcerated working at the spa... Wink

As for scannage - Tues is the day. I've also booked next week and the week after off so I can laze about in the hopes that this will assist me through the point both the others stopped growing (6 weeks). I had to tell my skippers and they're being really supportive, so that's nice. Got some acupuncture booked, and a doctor's appointment booked and... In a nutshell, this time I have all my ducks lined up, and am not going on a big international holiday in week 5 (which is what happened in BOTH other pregnancies).

BrownB · 25/05/2011 11:33

Just had a call from the antenatal clinic and they've booked me in for my first appointment on ... 11 July. I was a little surprised (will be 12 weeks then), and pointed out that I have had two miscarriages, am 36, and have no children. She said, "You don't get any preferential treatment until you've had three miscarriages." I talked about this a little, and she repeated it a few more times. I don't know, but does the NHS read the Daily Mail or something? Do they have their antenatal policy decided by people who think that if you haven't had your children in your 20's then you really should have the money not to bother them? I am a little upset - and I explained that to the lady on the phone. She said she didn't care. Well, she actually repeated the sentence in "" above, but what she meant was she is too busy to give a shit. I wish I had the money to go somewhere where I was treated with value and care.

Now. Let's hope my scan next week doesn't get bounced. And there's always Babybond. At least I can afford to have a couple of scans... who needs clothes or new shoes? And will try to get in to see my doctor every week or so until they deign to see me in the antenatal clinic.

If this is too much information or is insensitive, I'll find somewhere else to vent.

kat2504 · 25/05/2011 11:49

brownie what a cow! Even if they have to follow these ridiculous guidelines they could try to show some compassion about it. How far along will you be when you have the scan? I'm sure since you already have an appointment they would have to be exceptionally cruel to turn you away. Can you spare the cash for a private scan at 8 weeks? That is the best time for an early scan according to my epu.
It's one thing saying no preferential treatment, it's quite another to be totally unsupportive to people who are already very anxious.

Ivegotmrbitey · 25/05/2011 12:01

Brownie I am fuming on your behalf! Email the trust and complain! As kat says it isn't about preferential treatment it's about showing some bloody compassion! Angry Angry Angry

I'm sure they won't bounce your app't to be scanned, they probably don't communicate well enough with each other to get around to it!

I'm off to the chill out room, pliz to ignore the fragrant smoke.

BrownB · 25/05/2011 12:14

Bitey - I'm following you into the chill out room. Second hand fragrant smoke is probably the best thing for me right now....

BrownB · 25/05/2011 12:18

Kat - will head along to St Mary's as planned on 31 May (should be 5+6, so it's early, but exactly where the last two stopped growing). I will cry if they say no. Have booked a BabyBond scan for 12 June as am now confident that there's about a 0% chance of getting any further scans from the NHS.

Ariesgirl · 25/05/2011 12:37

I used to have a crush on Obama. Didn't last.

Brownie sounds like you got "woman who is bitter as fuck, is having a bad day, is probably bloody ugly, has husband trouble and wants to take it out on everyone else she has contact with", the stupid cow. Just your bad luck you were on her radar today. Surely they can see that by pre-empting potential problems would save them money, if it's all about money? Why do they have to wait until someone has lost three babies Angry?

Ariesgirl · 25/05/2011 12:39

Oh by the way, we watched the start of Knocked Up last night. You know the bit where she goes for the scan to see if she is actually pregnant. She opens her legs for dildocam and MrA looked very scornful and said "They don't do that, they do it on your tummy." I enlightened him and he looked absolutely horrified. I may have to go to future appointments alone, the silly arse Grin

kat2504 · 25/05/2011 12:50

5+6 is early but you should be able to see ifthere is an embryo and yolk sac, even if you are too early for heartbeat. The bonus may be that they will have to rescan you a week later to confirm viability if you are notfar enough along first time. Or that is what they ought to do.

If I could afford it I would install an ultrasound dildocam in my house. We could all have a nice lesbian scan party with the dildocam.

Ariesgirl · 25/05/2011 12:54

Oooh. Maybe it could be part of the Spa?

AlpinePony · 25/05/2011 13:00

aries she also has a 7 week scan which clearly show spine, legs and I believe knows the sex. How we guffawed at that.

boon what a caaaah.

starcuntmole · 25/05/2011 14:41

Knocked Up is the singulary singularly singlelary one of the most offensive films to women and pregnancy and females and people anywhere. (after 'Nine Months') I have unfortunately watched both in very recent times as it is 'really offensive and very factually wrong films about pregnancy month' on BBC3 I think, and both have led to much rich language and sharpening of pen as if to write a strongly worded letter to someone. I am soperficcially most offended about this because I loved Katherine Heigl in Gey's Anatomy (season 1-2) and feel so betrayed. (mostly cos of storyline involving my <a class="break-all" href="http://www.google.co.uk/imgres?imgurl=1.bp.blogspot.com/_WDuUbnvjjbU/TMOJQz2kY_I/AAAAAAAACCg/QkhFG12meiI/s1600/ghost-denny.jpg&imgrefurl=hollipocket.blogspot.com/2010_10_01_archive.html&h=315&w=425&sz=21&tbnid=dB31wxpo3KRGEM:&tbnh=93&tbnw=126&prev=/search%3Fq%3Ddenny%2Bgreys%2Banatomy%26tbm%3Disch%26tbo%3Du&zoom=1&q=denny+greys+anatomy&hl=en-GB&usg=__S0YJ2vMEeK1wvBgwSINr4Gk3elY=&sa=X&ei=-AXdTZ2BMciChQfWx42xDw&ved=0CB4Q9QEwAA&biw=1003&bih=482" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">husband

Ok ok, calm down love. Get yourself into the massage parlour.

I didn't watch it. It was just on. And then I turned it over!

BrownB · 25/05/2011 16:28

I spoke to my DP and cried a bit and you know what he said...? "The worst thing you can do right now is get upset about it..." AngryAngryAngry That made me feel so much better... Hmm What would make me feel much better is if HE sorted all this out for me... hmm

owlbooty · 25/05/2011 16:55

BrownB can I just say - what a bunch of bastards. Bastards!!

Pone At my 9 week scan I could see those things (gender had to wait til 12 week scan) but to be fair the doc had what looked like a Very Expensive Scanning Thingy. Which I would have expected as I had to shell out 120 quid for the priviledge. It was worth it though as the NHS refused me an early scan as well and the Official 12 week scan was a total wash out as they could not get any of the measurements and refused to rescan me, instead suggesting that I gibber in a corner until 16 weeks and then they would do some blood tests instead. Another 180 quid private scan (again, worth every penny). Owlet will be sleeping in a drawer and wearing jumble sale clothes. Thankfully I am sure he will not care or even notice.

AlpinePony · 25/05/2011 17:57

Owl - the film shows the equivalent of a 20 week scan. Not a first trimester shrimp! The only vaguely honest thing is the birth plan being tossed to one side.

BrownB · 25/05/2011 18:07

The NHS. When it works it's great. However, the barriers to getting it to work are getting bigger and bigger...

So how does one deal with a 6 year old boy who has a crush on you? My DP's son decided yesterday that rather than being disgusted by my kissing his dad, he wanted to see us kiss for "a long time". We were surprised, kissed in a chaste fashion for a short time, and he was blushing and laughing and we were suddenly VERY suspicious. I'm a little freaked out to be honest... His groping me when we wrestle is one thing, but this is of a slightly different order...

Ariesgirl · 25/05/2011 18:34

Mmmm. Bit odd. But then children can be odd.

InTheSunshine · 25/05/2011 20:37

Blardy hell Brahhhn you definitely got the rough end of that woman today. Hope you get your scan & sending sticky thoughts.

Children are a bit odd Aries my niece (aged 2) is obsessed with Mr Sunshine. She hates it if I sit next to him when she is around and shouts ar me if I even attempt to kiss him Grin

Ariesgirl · 25/05/2011 20:42

Hello SunnyD, haven't seen you for ages

InTheSunshine · 25/05/2011 21:04

Hello our Rie I was being abused working over the weekend at a marathon & was also grumpy about the arrival of droid. I had some stupid thought that if I didn't drink alcohol or caffeine for a month I would be sure to get diffed. Obv didn't work so I compensated with 2 glasses of wine & promptly fell asleep Hmm

How are you getting on with Herr Shag Dictator?

Ariesgirl · 25/05/2011 21:37

Haven't started it yet. Need to start on Day 1 and also read the instructions.

Sorry about bastard droid :(

InTheSunshine · 25/05/2011 21:48

I refuse to give up on this baybee winning lark. This month I am mostly trying -

Evening primrose oil
Raspberry tea
Red clover extract
Eating Yin promoting foods

Probably all a bunch of arse but whatever helps!

InTheSunshine · 25/05/2011 21:56

Not sure if I even think any of the above will work but if someone told me wearing my pants on the outside of my jeans and shouting "Get me a baybee" whilst running round the local streets would get me diffed I would do it Grin Grin
