After more than a decade of fertility problems/miscarriages and then 2 miracle kids, we are embarking on our last ditch attempt for #3. It may be greedy, it may be foolish but we would love to have a bigger family. i don't seem able to get pg without intervention so clomid has been prescribed again.

If it doesn't work then I think we will finally have closure on a very long fertility journey. Even if it DOES work then it will be another miracle if I can hang on to the pg. I have had 7 m/c over the years.

We are very very lucky to have our 2 dcs but fingers crossed the lucky pills have one more dose of baby dust inside.

It is quite stressful not knowing WTF is going on with your insides isn't it??

I took the cough mixture and loads of grapefruit juice. I think I got enough EWCM but to be honest I'm not much good at telling the difference between sperm and CM Blush

The pain defo wasn't me ovulating as my temps been up since Monday (temping this month to make the most of the clomid), but I was just getting up from drying my hair so must have caught something somewhere.

Bloody stressful all this !!!!

Joycep · 10/06/2011 13:50

it's horrible! May be it was a trapped nerve then. It won't have been anything more so don't panic!
Right i 'll try the cough mixture this month. It tasted so gross i only managed one sip of it last time but no pain no gain ig uess. Grapefruit juice never seems to work forme.

hippychick66 · 10/06/2011 14:04

I know the cough mixture is horrible but I kept thinking - eyes on the prize etc Grin

just went for a wee and had a bit more shooting pain up the bits - I'm wondering if it's a bit of a urine infection or something. I'll drink lots of water to flush it out and see how it goes - i guess.

Do try the cough mixture if you can manage it - I think it made a difference to me - maybe....

Joycep · 10/06/2011 14:49

oh, perhaps should crack open the cranberry juice just in case it's a bit of cystitis. How strange though, poor you, hope you don't get it again Confused

i will start the cough mixture on monday - was it 3 times a day??

twolittlemonkeys · 10/06/2011 15:48

Good luck! I'm in the same boat, started this course of Clomid on Tues. #3 for us too. DS1 was a Clomid baby, DS2 a miracle, and been ttc #3 on and off for over a year (MC last May). I have 6 cycles' worth of Clomid left (including this month) and after that if we have no joy I will accept that it's the end of the road with regards to ttc.

hippychick66 · 10/06/2011 16:16

hello twolittlemonkeys - it's a bloody pain all this TTC isn't it and even worse trying to get your head around stopping. Welcome to this thread Grin

joy great minds think alike - I have just got back from a well known superstore where every little helps and I have bought 2 big things of cranberry juice and am drinking away. Thanks.

Yes it was 3 times a day - 2 teaspoons. (I must confess that towards the end I just swigged a big old gulp straight from the bottle) Blush

PinkCustard · 11/06/2011 15:44

With regards to EWCM I've been taking a capsule of Evening Primrose Oil every day as this is supposed to help. I have CM at the mo but not EW as yet, but no sign of the egg and don't expect it to be laid until Wednesday so wouldn't expect to see any just yet...will report back if it works or not.

hippychick66 · 11/06/2011 20:09

okey dokey pink - keep us posted on your cervical mucus - haha only on MN could we say that!

PinkCustard · 12/06/2011 10:33

Ha! There's no such thing as TMI on here!

I'm in a bit of a tiz here - does anyone know whether Clomid makes you ovulate earlier or later than usual? I've been using my CBFM and every month it shows that I Ov around day18. This month (first Clomid month) it's being really weird. I had 2 really dark lines on day 9 and then they've gradually gotten lighter until today no lines at all (am on day 15). Not sure what's happening, but am wondering whether it's a faulty pack of sticks (am going to phone the careline tomorrow) or whether I've either Ov-ed ridiculously early or am going to Ov very late...will just continue with the swi for the time being I suppose.

hippychick66 · 12/06/2011 17:41

Not too sure pink as I don't use a monitor but I have heard that if you ov too early clomid can delay it until day 14 - so in theory if you ov on day 18 usually - you might ov late - does that make any sense???

Jebel · 12/06/2011 18:25

Hi pink - I am on my first month of clomid and I ov'd about 3 days earlier than usual (I have regular cycles usually) - confirmed by opk and ultrasound. The doc said it 'wasn't unusual' but she didn't say it was 'normal'.

PinkCustard · 12/06/2011 18:38

Thanks, I've actually just started getting EWCM and grumbly feelings on my left side so think I might be gearing up for ovulation Woohoo!

I checked on the CBFM website and it said clomid can cause a false early High reading and more High days than usual, so I think that's what's happened...

The more I read the more convinced I am that every-other-day swi is the way forward (although I might have changed my mind in a week's time when fatigue kicks in...)

Jebel how long til you can poas?

emmaloupolman · 12/06/2011 19:36

Sorry been away 4 a while been busy wedding planning 12 days to go.
I went for a day 21 blood test yesterday just wait and see what that comes back as i am due on 6 days b4 wedding not sure when to test if af doesn't show

hippychick66 · 12/06/2011 21:02

BB I think you were confused as to why you got a load of early highs on your monitor and wondered if it was the clomid. Someone just posted on another thread I'm currently following yes I have some other friends too Grin (the thread is about taking clomid for the first time) and they put this:-

I checked on the CBFM website and it said clomid can cause a false early High reading and more High days than usual, so I think that's what's happened...

I thought it might help you - but if I am remembering wrong - just ignore me or shoot me or something Grin

hippychick66 · 12/06/2011 21:03

Sorry that was meant to be posted on my 40+ thread - what an idiot!!!

Jebel · 13/06/2011 10:23

Hi pink - I am seeing doctor for a blood test on 20th but am sure I will start poas on friday as I can't help myself! I don't feel confident at all and had a horrible upset stomach and was throwing up at the weekend. And already worrying about swi next month as the timing will be all wrong... staying in other people's houses, not in the country so doctor can't monitor me etc.

clomidhelpneeded · 13/06/2011 10:36

Sorry I haven't been around. Clomid wasn't my friend this month and I came on last week. I think that is probably it for us. Good luck to you all!

PinkCustard · 13/06/2011 11:13

Jebel try not to worry about next month yet as you may get good news by the end of this week...

Clomid sorry about AF, how totally crap. How many cycles have you been taking it for? My consultant has told me to take it for 9 months Shock and then go back for another appointment if not preg by then, but the prescription was actually for 12 months worth!

I'm a bit concerned that I'm not being monitored at all - well, he told me to have 2 day21 blood tests on different months at some time over the 9 months, but that was it. But on the other hand I was just grateful to have something to try, and I suspect that a slightly short LP might be a bit of a problem for me and I believe clomid can be helpful with this...and basically after 17 months I'm willing to try just about anything.

No news here - my CBFM is stilling playing silly beggars so I can't properly monitor whether I'm ov-ing yet, but I've still got a heavy feeling in the place where I imagine my left ovary to be so hopefully a juicy ripe egg is on the verge of being fired out.

PinkCustard · 13/06/2011 11:20

Blimey now my right ovary's joined in - maybe they're both brewing one up...double the chance with a bit of luck Grin

Jebel · 13/06/2011 11:28

Hey pink - if clomid doesn't work a couple of times, I recommend asking for an ultrasound around time of ov so that the doctor can actually confirm that you have ripe follicles ready to release an egg (and warn you if you are at a high risk of multiples). They can also measure your endometrium. Last cycle (no clomid) mine wasn't sufficient so she gave me progesterone supplements. This cycle (with clomid) she was very happy with the thickness so I am not having supplements. I have a shortish luteal phase so the progesterone helps to extend it by thickening the womb lining and delaying the shredding that is AF. Anyway, fx that this cycle of clomid works for you, I know several people who weren't monitored and have got pg very happily :)

clomid sorry to hear about AF :(

Capiche · 13/06/2011 11:33

Clomid can make you late to ovulate rather than early. It supresses the hormones whilst you take it so that when you stop it your body is tricked into thinking you need MORE to stimulate ovaries as they are not responding.... Last month I od on day 22 and fertility nurse said 'absolutely normal'
This month I was earlier but still day 16. Deffo not early though hth!

hippychick66 · 13/06/2011 12:23

clomidhelpneeded so sorry you got your period. Do you think you will try any more cycles with clomid or are you serious about giving up? It's a hard decision isn't it? Thinking of you.

My temp went up really high this morning and I was thinking ohhh triphasic maybe. But I guess I will have to see if it stays right up there. My eldest son went on a school trip today and it is his first time away from home so maybe I was stressing about that and that could account for the high temp.

Can clomid have an effect on your temps later on in the cycle?? Anyone know?

PinkCustard · 13/06/2011 17:18

Thanks Jebel although I'm receiving treatment on the nhs so not sure they'll stretch to scans etc..? I've often thought I could do with some progesterone supplements but I'm not really basing that on anything scientific or diagnosed Hmm

Phoned the consultant's lovely secretary today as my 21day blood tests weren't available when I had my appointment last week (from 2 separate months, as they'd been sent to the wrong hosp!) so she's chasing up the results for me even though the consultant seemed confident that I'm ov-ing and said she would phone me if they showed otherwise. I'd just feel better having the results.

Thanks Capiche looks like I might be waiting a couple more days at least for the magic egg then.

Sorry hippy I gave up temping yonx ago and don't know about the possible effects of clomid on them - I'm sure someone more useful will be along shortly. Fingers crossed you really are triphasic!!

Capiche · 13/06/2011 23:49

gawd i'm tired - it saps me this stuff

Jebel · 14/06/2011 07:09

pink not sure re NHS as am not in the UK and have to pay every time I sneeze.

I'm only 8 DPO and felt like AF was coming last night but not. Having hot flushes. Don't like not knowing what is going on with my hormones. Need to go and sit under the aircon.
