Here is part II of our intrepid journey through the minefield that is TTC post MC. You can find part I on this thread.

Don't give up hope yellow! How long are you away? Did you get plenty practice in before you left?

When I say there's another thread like this, it's not nearly as bonkers ... and this thread is much cosier Grin.

Those early pregnancy symptoms are sounding perfectly normal sparkly. I love a random croissant. Who is Batfink?

It sounds like you've had a proper time of it harassed - good luck with your move and drawing a big fat line under all that horrible stuff.

yellowtomato · 12/04/2011 23:20

I am away until Friday and my ship will have sailed by then. So I noticed you didn't answer the nosy welcoming question from wombat are you Scottish? If not please explain the name?

I was looking forward to a bath on arrival at the hotel but there is only a shower, bah! Right probably should go to bed as conference starts at silly o'clock tomorrow.

Night all

wombatinwaiting · 13/04/2011 06:21

Morning ladies - today we have a smorgesbord (spelling?!) of cheeses especially for the stressy newly glowing sparkly. Boring pasteurised on the right, lovely delicious unpasteruised on the left Grin.

So glad that you have settled in so well with us ochaye and feeling quite pleased you are describing us as "cosy bonkers* Grin

sparkly - pray tell why you are trying to feed a spicy, fatty pork product to your new kitten? Confused And what have you decided to call your other one? Grrrr re: your stupid day with booking in etc. Kind of sweet of your doc to listen to your heart.... have been meaning to ask how mrsparkly is doing with the news? By that I mean Mr Sparkly, not Mrs Parkly!

Buggeration re: the EWCM yellow and most annoying re: the bath... hope you enjoy your conference and are not seduced by any 007 types!

Very well done worm on the 5k - it is a pain when you see your fitness ebbing away but you'll get it back before you can say "Liz McColgan". I will be straight on here tomorrow morning to ask how you did with your run tonight.

Harassed - I'm sure the new house will bring you lots of good stuff - you are entering it in a very positive frame of mind with a "fresh start".

Nothing from emma of late - I suspect she is too tired from this week's shagathon.

And wellie - long time no hear. Hope all is well - have you started your short term contract yet?

And pecka - all ok with you m'dear?

Final thing from me this morning if any of you are in need of a laugh - Mrs Brown from Father Ted doing a bikini wax -

Right - need to crack on with some work (yawn).....

Grin Grin Grin at that clip wombat
ohhh a conference in a posh hotel, yellow lets hope it is a good one, and takes your mind off the EWCM thats hanging around........ I wish I had sparklys wit to speculate what the conference is about. Sorry no-one was around last night to entertain yourself while waiting at the airport, me being the nosy bastard curious soul that I am love a good people watch at the airport.

Sparklywine · 13/04/2011 09:09

Mmm, Wombat, the camembert looks lovely, have you any pate to go with it? Grin
Funnily enough I was in the audience for Liz McColgan's 'This is your life', my dad worked for the venue and got me a seat in the aisle right where Michael Aspel stopped her with the book. I was a fat teen in an unwise peach Sweater Shop jumper, that was my five minutes. Grin
You are all very sweet and have made me feel better, thanks! Batfink seems more normal, she has a miaow 'like fingernails down a blackboard', as dh puts it. Remember the evil Ringwraith horseriders in Lord of the Rings? It's a scream of the undead, just like them. So endearing. Oh, Batfink is my new kitten by the way Ochaye. The little boy is called Ottie, after Otis Reading. This, purely on the basis that he is black; dh picked it, balancing precariously on the tightrope of borderline racism. Wombat, I thought the chorizo would excite her little tastebuds, and actually she did demolish most of it. I did suffer for it this morning emptying out the litter tray mind you Grin
Worm, Yellow is at the annual 'Q Expo' which showcases top secret agent gadgets, like top hats that are also frisbees that are also head-chopper-off-ers. It's like the Ideal Home Exhibition but for spies, there was an application form in the Radio Times a few weeks back.
Mrs Parkly Grin has had hardcore exams, which finished yesterday, so he can now focus on the happy event of impending fatherhood. Like myself, he is delighted and excited, feelings which are tempered by previous events and statistics. We'll both be happier to get an early scan and see a little sparklybeanbeat, then I can get shopping for educational wooden items! Grin

wombatinwaiting · 13/04/2011 09:46

PMSL at sparkly Ideal Homes Exhibition for Spies.... do let us know what gadgets you picked up yellow Grin and no worm and pecka - we don't mean those sorts of gadgets.....

Peach sweater shop jumpers - boy that takes me back.... I was particularly attached to my Dash grey knit ra-ra skirt with contrasting stripy trim on the hems Blush. Does Dash still exist I wonder.....

When does Mrs Parkly find out about his exam results and what are they in? (gaaaah - nosy wombat is back again.....!) Do you know if you can get an early scan?

OP posts:
Sparklywine · 13/04/2011 10:02

He has to wait til July Wombat, quite agonising really. It's a Pensions qualification, he'll get to wear a gown and be all fusty and boring when he qualifies. He's doing it as well as working full time so it's quite full-on in the run-up, and another year to go. Then we too can afford a chauffeur...

I don't expect the early scan will be free, the lady playing at doctoring yesterday thought the hospital was bringing forward first scan dates to around 10 weeks due to a change in policy, but given that she was making things up and carrying a plastic doctor's bag with 'realistic' stethoscope from the Early Learning Centre, I'm not giving her much advice much weight. Would be handy though, however am happy to pay for piece of mind. DH pointed out it would be the same price as an All Saints top, then saw my gleeful face and quickly pointed out it wasn't a choice between the two! Grin

ochaye · 13/04/2011 20:04

Oh ... my ... goodness ... remember Dash!!!??? All colour coordinated and primary.

I can confirm, I am Scottish. Am I all alone on that front?

sparkly - the policy has changed here so the first scan includes a nuchal scan which means it needs to be between 10 and 13 weeks, so that would all tie in? Alternatively private scans are quite reasonable and available.

I'm learning quickly that it's typical of this thread that someone mentions a random famous person, and what do you know, sparkly was in the audience on her "This is your Life".

DD2 is being a pain at going to bed at the moment. I'm trying to do that thing tonight where every time she gets up I put her straight back without looking her in the eye or saying anything. She's completely worked it out so when I went up just now she was standing at the top of the stairs saying nothing with her hands over her eyes. I managed to stifle my giggles long enough to do the deed and get downstairs again!

pecka33 · 13/04/2011 20:14

wombat, naughty naughty, me??? Never!!! Im a good girl...
ochaye im from birmingham far far away from scotland, but an equally usual accent i believe. (even though id much prefer yours to mine)
well ladies ive layed off the testing since i was told off my you ladies last week, af not due till 20th-21st but am getting some usual symptoms, weeing alot, night sweats, and extra sore boobies!!! So fingers crossed this is the month, this will be our 7th cycle.....

ochaye · 13/04/2011 20:27

Oooooooo pecka33 ... that all sounds very promising! Well done for not testing. I find if I have tests in the house I can't stop myself ... so I just don't have them around.

harassedinherpants · 13/04/2011 20:42

Pecka I'm due early next week too, allegedly. But it'll be first since mc, so we'll see. Hope you get your bfp first! I'm symptom spotting too (weeing, nightmares, disturbed sleep, swollen boobs) but because I'm terrified of a bfp to be perfectly honest!

And yes.......you're very naughty Wink!!

och I'm in Hampshire, so about as far away from you as is poss without leaving the country! I know which other thread too

Sparkly tell dh that you are in fact updiffed and therefore you should get the too, whilst you can!! It'll all be stretchy and comfy soon.......

Wombat how's it going?? Do you get an early scan over there? Assume it's all private healthcare.

Yellow you never know, some of those swimmers might hang on in there.

hope you're both ok.

So today in the weird freakiness that is my mind at the moment, I'm crazily symptom spotting as above..... I'm flipping terrified!! Basically it's what my doc said, I don't seem to have any probs getting preg it's staying that way (she did put it better than that!). Took me 6 months to get my first bfp, but the month after starting my kinesiology I got a bfp. So I'm bricking it basically..... I'm seeing her on Monday when I'll be cd27, and have one solitary cheapie test so I might do that Monday morning.....

ochaye · 13/04/2011 21:11

harassed - I hope the chocolate is doing the trick. There's no way of avoiding the worry, we just have to learn to cope with it. And chocolate is as good a way as any.

You've reminded me to get back onto FF and start my new cycle. Only thing is I need to get a thermometer as I lent mine to someone in a moment of madness!

When you live in Scotland, you don't think too much about driving or flying from one end of the country to the other. So while you all think you live forever away from me, tis not true! In fact, I left my house on Saturday at 11am and was at the ExCel in London by 3pm that day ... and home in my bed again by 10pm at night. You are not as safe as you think ...

It was mainly you who confused me when I was searching for the ttc after mc thread again ...

ochaye · 13/04/2011 21:11

Eh, sorry, I'm losing it ... that last comment was meant for harassed!

emmaandthestar · 13/04/2011 21:20

Sparkly I think you should get both the top and the early scan one is a requirement the other is just to calm your nerves re the baby...
I must say I came home ready for SWI and have a raging temp and and ache all over - how romantic, I made out that I was just very hot for it, needed a massage etc!! DH doesn't care :)

Harrassed Fingers crossed but not legs - they are too busy peddling!!

Wormshuffler · 13/04/2011 21:57

Evening Ladies........ Well I survived another 5k run and felt less like i would pass out, so I'm feeling a little better! Zola Budd beware.... although She is probably 70 odd now.
So ochaye you lent you thermometer to someone.......I hope you had been taking your temp orally? Grin i'm east mids here and can get to scotland from my station in 2 hours so it is indeed not as far as you think!
I see we have some symptom spotting going on here then hey? I look forward to your BFP's girlies!!
harassed it's flipping terrifying this baby lark isn't it! I have been having a wobble about the whole ttc thing.
So mrs parkly wants a tshirt with All saints on it? as in the Appleton sisters?? Wink
I would pay for an early scan if you think it will help your nerves sparkly it's only money...
Ah the sweater shop jumpers! I never took mine off!! They were the Jack Wills of our day! I don't remember Dash though....... you lot must be younger than me!!

wombatinwaiting · 14/04/2011 05:42

Ooooh - lots of you ladies close to POAS and I'm loving the symptom spotting. Anyone got any of sparkly's magpie spotting symptoms too?! Worm - you must be due for an SWI session soon....? Well done to emma for braving the fever and getting down to it and even finishing off with a spot of pedalling. Well done also to pecka for holding off POAS any more. Like ochaye, I buy them on a "need to pee" basis or the temptation of having them lying around would be too much to bear!

Thanks for the enquiry harassed - I am 8 weeks today and scan is on Sunday at 10am my time, 7am your time so am currently alternating between wanting to get it over with asap and dreading going.... DH is being a wonderful support to my ups and downs right now. It is indeed all private here, covered by our employers.

I don't think you're older than us worm - I am a creaking 37 right now! Literally creaking - haven't been able to run for the last couple of months due to hamstring issues that are being caused by my lower spine and pelvis being out of alignment - very frustrating... the physio is doing a great job though. Our yoga teacher suggested someone she knows who does dorn therapy (something to do with spinal re-alignment) so I emailed her to give her a bit of my historyfind out a bit more about it and was Shock when she suggested that trapped nerves may have been the cause of my last 2 m/c! In fact I was quite Angry about it..... needless to say I won't be going to see her, particularly when I found out you can be "qualified" in dorn therapy after only a weekend's course....

Anyway, onto cheerier subjects, I'm v pleased to hear that you are Scottish ochaye - I think this thread could do with a bit of Celtic colour! Your DD2's tactics really made me laugh - a very switched on mini-ochaye by the sound of it!

Hope you're not driving yourself too crazy harassed with symptoms etc. - glad to hear that your kinesioligist is so helpful. It's an interesting therapy (and I know you have to train for ages, not just a weekend!)

Wonders how yellow is getting on at her gadget show in Dublin and if she's bumped into Bono yet! REally hope DP's swimmers are performing Olympian style feats right now.

Waves to all xx

By the way worm, what or who is Jack Mills?!

OP posts:
Wormshuffler · 14/04/2011 07:40

Wow Wombat 8 weeks already?! that has absloutely flown by! I am CD7 now but no sign of any EWCM yet. DH is away at the weekend so I will need to get "filled up" Wink before he goes!
Jack wills is a clothes designer all the young 'uns are wearing. My DD spent all her christmas money on a hoody recently. I wanted to buy DS a rugby shirt when we were in London recently for the Hen do, so We all trooped in there and wandered around looking for the childrens section. (DD is an adult size 8 now) An assistant came and asked us if we needed anyhelp, so I explained what I wanted and she said "Oh, we don't have a childrens section, our target age group is 16 to 24" whilst looking at us as if to say "so could you old birds please get out of my shop" Ha it was funny.....like that scene in Pretty Woman!!

I'm off for 5 days now with the Kids, happy day's Grin and hope the weather picks up again I ordered a garden furniture set on Sunday whilst it was glorious and it is coming today, would be nice to be able to use it!

Ohh look I did one of those clever linky things!!

wombatinwaiting · 14/04/2011 08:15

Ha - that's so funny worm - you're saying 8 weeks already and I'm going ooooonly 8 weeks! Good luck with your "filling up" sessions! Lovely stuff at Jack Wills - might have to do a bit of online shopping -v clever for doing the linky thing.

Sorry - meant to say earlier - V well done also on getting your second 5k under your belt. When is your next run scheduled?

Fingers crossed for good weather for your days off - lovely!

Sparklywine · 14/04/2011 08:59

Wombat, we are too old for Jack Wills! They've got one in Manchester, the greeters (!) on the door are the coolest people in the world. To be fair they did let me in to snigger at the all in one romper suits, but I felt very old and fat, and my hair is not nearly big enough!
Got my midwife booking in appt, 11th May, ages away! I'd hoped to be having an early scan around that time, no idea who to approach to have it done. Kittens still shitting for Britain so I am up to my marigolds in poo and chewed up biscuits, the house smells of sugar puffs and I daren't admit any visitors.
Well, no breakfast again so I'm off for a crispy creme donut, someone's birthday, a win-win situation Grin
Grin

wombatinwaiting · 14/04/2011 09:13

Pah - never too old for romper suits Hmm. Actually, scrap that - I tried on a Ted Baker one once thinking that it would be uber-cool and still managed to look like an over-sized 5 year old..... who can actually wear them and look semi decent?

Will you be booking in a private scan before then? Or will NHS do it? I cannot believe I have stuck it out this long without one - not good for the nerves I can tell you....

Yes, very poor on breakfast this week - can't even claim proper morning sickness for lack of offerings as I seem to be permanently hungry. I guess we could set up a rota....?

I hear sparklybean is VERY hungry..... Grin

OP posts:
Sparklywine · 14/04/2011 12:49

Found somewhere close-ish that offers an early reassurance scan for £97. This is a lot but I can find it. I'd have the scan around the 8-9 week mark. To go for it or not, putting it to the jury......do I need to know 3-4 weeks before the NHS scan if there is actually a baby there this time? And if so, were I to receive bad news at the 12 week scan, would the impact be worse having had my hopes raised? Part of me thinks I want this to get the bad news out of the way sooner, which seems a weird way of thinking, yet I am not negative about this pregnancy. Confused

wombatinwaiting · 14/04/2011 13:06

Not weird at all sparkly - I think it's a self-defence mechanism. I also think you may be mentalling leading up to the 12 week scan, even if you have the 8-9 week one..... I would def pay for the early reassurance one (even over an All Saints top Grin ).

What do the rest of our jury think?

I have been shocking this afternoon - all that productivity due to being in the new office has ground to a massive halt. I am spending all my time browsing mn and also looking up Kate and Wills wedding info. I'm really excited about it Blush

OP posts:
pecka33 · 14/04/2011 13:21

sparkly, i would also pay for a reassurance scan too....
Our baby died at 8 weeks and the first i knew about it was at just over 12 weeks when i started to bleed but had no pains ect, dont want to frighten you, weve all been through the mill on this thread so i think we can all put ourselfs in your place right now.
Chin up, im sure all will be good x

harassedinherpants · 14/04/2011 13:26

Helloooo,

Sparkly I'd have an early scan, definitely. In fact I had enquired about one last month, but mc'd first. I think like Wombat, it's about self-defence. Although I've been very upset, it was def "easier" to mc early and not have my hopes way up like the first one.

I found this from the Miscarriage Association: If the scan picks up a heartbeat and the baby appears to be the right size according to your dates, this can be very reassuring. Research has shown that if you see a heartbeat at 6 weeks of pregnancy, the chances of the pregnancy continuing are 78%. A heartbeat at 8 weeks increases the chance of a continuing pregnancy to 98% and at 10 weeks to 99.4%. So things could still go wrong, but as long as there is a heartbeat, the risk of miscarriage decreases as the weeks go by.

Wombat oooh looking forward to hearing from you on Sunday!

Worm well done on another 5k.

I am definitely too old for Jack Wills....am 40 .

We're viewing a house tonight. It's not as big as ours downstairs, as we have a single storey extension where we are now, but I'm hoping the space will be better utilised. At the moment we have a tiny sitting room, huge but badly laid out kitchen with next to no workspace and a stupidly big range cooker, and also a lovely sized dining room.
