Pants St4rfish but it might be too early. A choccy symbol would be fab Grin thanks for the Biscuit

Molly I'm puttin myself under pressure because I want a BFP before I'm 30 (I'm 26 in April so got plenty of time but I still feel like I'm running out of time Grin)

OP posts:
Imps7 · 24/03/2011 10:08

St4rfish and Molley - good luck for the POAS! I almost expect another BFP given the luck we've had on this thread so far!

Josie I feel your pain - there's nothing more annoying than being woken from a lovely sleep by a gallumphing OH. Hope you have the chance for an early night tonight!

cookie good luck with the Clomid. I had never heard of it before joining MN so don't really know much about it. Don't worry yourself by doing too much research though - as Cavemum advised it's best to step away from Google in these sorts of situations! Also, don't beat yourself up about not conceiving naturally - it won't make your eventual BFP any less of a success.

I took my second temp reading this morning - yesterday it was 36.42 and today 36.27! Woo!! Not sure what that means really but given that it's different it's given me cause for excitement regardless! I have to confess that I've been analysing your charts Truff - did you decide to test because your temps had stayed high? Really interesting to see the patterns forming and the clear difference between your successful cycle and your unsuccessful cycles.

Right, long dull day at work ahead including client drinks tonight and all the painful small talk that goes with such events. Yawn.

Fingerscrossed1 · 24/03/2011 11:11

Hi everyone Smile I haven't posted for absolutely ages but have been peeking regularly to see what's been happening...a lot it would seem Grin Congrats to all those who've had BFPs and Wine for all those that haven't.

Been quite a manic couple of weeks, we're moving in 3 weeks so have been desperately trying to find sofas etc and get organised.

Could do with a little bit of advice. I think my body has given up the ghost or something, I will try to explain...

Came off the pill in November last year and had 2 very regular cycles of 29 days. Then last month had that weird AF where it was just a tiny trace of red when I wiped on the day ERTD was due, sorry for TMI, and then after 2 days of that a medium flow AF for one day, then nothing.

So, taking the first day of my period as the 1 day I got a proper flow, as it were, I guessed ERTD would be due this cycle tomorrrow. However, last night I got the same tiny trace of red when I wiped but nothing has happened. I POAS this morning and BFN.

I mentioned the last weird period to the doctor last week when I went about something else and she said that it could have been due to a conception but no implantation...but if it's happening againt this cycle it would suggest that my body is just plain weird. Confused.com.

Cloclo15 · 24/03/2011 17:32

Hi fingerscrossed could it just be your body adjusting to life off the pill? It can take a while for things to settle I think. Worth keeping an eye and maybe poas if nothing happens in next week. I haven't been on the pill for a couple of years and I still have odd periods every now and then just due to stress and stuff too

weimy · 24/03/2011 18:04

Cloclo might well be right fingers our bodies are very bizzare things Confused

St4rfish · 25/03/2011 08:14

Advice needed please!

No sign of AF arriving yet - should be here by now. Held off POAS until this morning but it was negative. Have had very bad cramping/upset stomach for past 24 hours or so (so much so that I skipped dinner last night, which is unlike me) so this could be why AF is late. Its unlike me to get bad PMS symptoms, if any at all. No other signs I could be pregnant or that AF is on its way.

I am due to go out tonight and tomorrow night which would inevitably involve consuming large quantities of alcohol. Logic is telling me that its unlikely I'm pregnant and that AF is just late for whatever reason. Which of the following options would you take?

a) Avoid alcohol just incase, and provide some plausible excuse, eg "I have given up alcohol for Lent!"
b) Come clean to friends about reason for avoiding alcohol (bearing in mind one couple are having IVF at the moment and will not want to hear me discussing my own fertility I am sure)
c) Have a few drinks but avoid getting hammered
d) Get hammered!

Is anyone else off the sauce while TTC?

LateToTheTTCParty · 25/03/2011 08:21

I'd go for option C, and you can truthfully say that you've had a bit of a tummy upset and don't feel like a proper bender.

CaveMum · 25/03/2011 09:38

Definitely option c)

We've had the alcohol discussion on here quite often and the consensus (backed up by some science) is that even if you are pregnant the embryo is self-sufficient until the placenta has formed. This takes about 6 or 7 weeks so until then you can't actually pass anything through your blood to the embryo. Obviously getting hammered is not a good idea for either you or future person, but a few drinks really won't do any harm this early on.

Imps7 · 25/03/2011 10:17

Ooooh c) for sure. When we first started TTC I thought I'd give up alcohol completely during the TWW, but that didn't even last 2 days! I still drink during the TWW but not as much as I did before TTC - my alcohol intake has reduced from around 25-30 units a week to more like 10-15 on average.

My OH, bless him, has given up alcohol completely between ERTD and OV so that he can build up some nice healthy non-pissed sperm! It's a real challenge for him to not drink at weekends, so the fact that he has given up booze without a fight clearly demonstrates his committment to the cause!

Well my temp this morning was 36.27 - exactly the same as yesterday! I'm nothing if not consistent.

Anyone got any nice plans for the weekend?

MollyDefoe · 25/03/2011 10:26

I'm for option (c) too! I haven't totally given up booze - I always find that a bit counterproductive for me, as it just makes me crave it more, and then I crack spectacularly. So I've just reduced my booze intake to about 2-4 units a week during the 2ww, and maybe about 10 per week during the first half of my cycle. Enough to satisfy my boozy cravings!

Imps - that's a lovely display of commitment from your DH! Mine has cut down too, to help me more than anything else I think. But I bought him some Wellman conception vitamins yesterday, and he seems willing to take those.

My temperature's pretty high today - 36.85. Am on 13 DPO, so AF is due on Monday. POAS yesterday morning, though, and BFN, so I'm not holding out much hope this cycle...

CaveMum · 25/03/2011 11:00

Perhaps now isn't a good time to mention to all the DP/DHs that it takes 30 days to make sperm so they'd have to give up drinking for at least that length of time to have any effect on the quality of their swimmers! The same goes for vitamins unfortunately - 30 days before they have any effect. That's why MrC has been on them (willingly) since last June!

St4rfish · 25/03/2011 11:04

Thanks ladies, option C it is then. Thanks for the science Cavemum
Am hoping I have some sign either way by the end of the weekend - being in limbo is a killer!
Get you lot with your temperature charting; you're making me feel like I have fertility SEN Wink

JosieSmith1 · 25/03/2011 12:21

I'm adopting option c at my mate's hen party tomorrow night. I've explained to her the reason I'll not be hammered and she understands as she's been there for me throughout this whole thing. I don't know anyone else so it's none of their business Grin

Pg colleague had her 12 week scan yesterday but conveniently 'forgot' to bring the piccies in Smile she was given tablets for her vetrigo and the doc said they wouldn't harm the baby but when she googled them it said they could cause cleft palate and congenital heart diroders Confused so she's putting in a complaint about the doc. I'm getting so much better at talking to her about it now though after a while I have to take a step back

I am applying for a new job ladies! I'm extremely nervous but it's tough luck Grin I have to be brave for a change and make some positive changes in my life. Wish me luck!

OP posts:
Imps7 · 25/03/2011 13:35

Ha ha Cavemum I didn't know that! I'm not sure I could get OH to give up permanently so I'll keep that news secret and just rely on the hope that halving his total alcohol intake over the course of a month will have a more positive effect than not cutting down at all Grin

Josie brave step - how exciting!! Have you registered with a recruitment agency or are you going to contact businesses directly? I often wonder if I should change jobs to have a bit more of a challenge, but I've got quite an easy life where I am at the moment and part of me doesn't want to give that up, especially if sproglets enter the scene.

Molly - a continually high temperature is a good thing isn't it?? I reckon testing on 12DPO is probably too soon, so there's still very high hopes for you!! Hope you're the next BFP!

MollyDefoe · 25/03/2011 13:49

Good luck Josie! That's really exciting!

I've just sat down to do a job application too. It's my "dream job", really, AND it's at the same institution that I currently work at, which would mean that if I got it, I'd be entitled to the maximum maternity leave that the institution offers (because I've already been there 18 months). But it's such a good job, and I want it so badly, that I'm shaking with nerves just writing the application form!

Ah, thank you Imps - but I don't have positive feelings about this month. I just don't "feel pregnant" (not that I know what that feels like!). And I think I might have ov'd 4 days late (my temp chart is so confusing: I might have ov'd on CD16 or CD20 and FF is as confused as I am!), so a late arrival of AF might not necessarily mean anything... But it's only our first go this month, so it's a practice run, isn't it?! :)

JosieSmith1 · 25/03/2011 15:24

Imps I'm staying within the same organisation but it's the next step up from where I am now. I'm really nervous about it as I'm not a naturally confident person but would have to have some level of assertiveness, which I don't yet have but am assured I will develop. I always shy away from what I want to do as I'm scared but this time I'm going to bite the bullet and go for it. If I get it I think I'll be so happy. Molly it's not my dream job, I gave up on that long ago but it's a job I think I'd be very happy doing and would get a lot of satisfaction out of. Funnily enough, writing the application form gets my nerves going too!

Good Luck Josie and Molly

Joining you Weimy, ERTD arrived this afternoon, booo! POAS yesterday morning (first one since Monday) and after a BFN forgot about it for the rest of the day. Have told mum and sister that we are TTC and they have been saying that the lack of ERTD over the last week has been because I have been overthinking it/too stressed and am beginning to think they were right as it has now appeared after I chilled out a bit yesterday?!
Anyway, am def on the Wine now as I have been VERY good for the last 2/3 weeks whilst on the 2WW!

Hope everyone has a good weekend Smile

Hopefully correct updated list......

raspberrytipple · 27/03/2011 11:54

eek, day 14 and I got a peak on my CBFM - it was at 7.30 a.m. this morning and I sat in bed and got so excited I flung my arm out accidentally and walloped DP in the face. He wasn't so keen on SWI once that happened but I managed to 'talk' him round Blush lol. Bit confused though as I assumed I ovulated quite late, bit worried now as we always do it lots around this time of the month but nothing has happened which is why I thought my timing might be out. now it looks like it was right and still nothing has happened :( Nevermind, we are taking this baby making business seriously again now, I'm back on Folic Acid and going to be healthy and DP has been banned from having a laptop on his lap!

Josie good luck!!! Applying for new stuff scares the crap out of me too but you will never know unless you try!!! Fingers crossed for you too Molly on both fronts Grin

Cave & Imps I didn't know that about sperm and booze either :( Looks like one more thing to throw at DP! It might work for a few weeks as we are planning to go easy on the booze until Easter now as we are then off on a boozy week away to south of France over the bank holidays.

Sorry for the quick hello, I'm supposed to be studying but Morgans theory on using metaphors and 'imaginization' to understand business organisational culture is not particularly turning me on. Which is odd actually because given my current hormonal state nearly everything else is!! Blush Confused Hmm Wink - good luck to all those POAS this week!

Imps7 · 27/03/2011 22:41

Hi everyone

Hope you had good weekends. Mine has been very chilled - saw some friends yesterday and did a bit of gardening/housework today. Stayed off the drink and had early nights on both Friday and Saturday - so why am I oh so tired?!

Love the fact that you hit your DP round the face through sheer excitement of ovulation raspberry! Hope the timing has paid off this month for you! Your studying sounds dull as hell - good luck with that!

Well I'm CD 6 today and think I'm going to start peeing on my OPKs tomorrow. I am still finding taking my temperatures to be really exciting and getting pg has almost become a secondary thing! Am sure it will be the same with the OPKs to start off with but I imagine the novelty of both will have worn off by next weekend.

Oh well, best get to bed. Can't believe it's Sunday night already - where does the weekend go?

St4rfish · 28/03/2011 08:18

I'm out too - AF arrived with a vengeance this morining - get me to the bottom of the list, boo, hiss etc

Hi peeps, hope you all had good weekends Smile

I personally am already on the countdown to Friday, terrible.

Well ERTD finally arrived in full flow, am over it now and moving on to next cycle...again! I'm thinking of using OPKs this time to hopefully be reassured that I do lay eggs. I saw some on e bay with a basal thermometer, £6 for about 30 sticks...would anyone advise these or do I just pop to Boots?

Also, how do you know when to start peeing on said sticks?
