The (updated)(again)(again) 'rules' from our Just Shagging Originator for the Viroids:

Maintain a relaxed attitude at all times - drink if you want too, especially on your birthday (or when you've had bad news). Thread precedent dictates if you drink to excess you will get a BFP (but not recommended). (But it does work).

Covet thy husband and enjoy every minute. Shag at every opportunity - shag-capes and awesome superpowers optional.

Keep acronym-age to a minimum! EWCM is now to be referred to as 'pant snot'. Try not to get sucked in by Fertility Friend (at least for a while), but knowing where you are in your cycle and furkling for pant snot is most definitely allowed.
OV is ovulation - I'm allowed to forget what date I've OVd, feel free to join me on that one!

Bunting is to be put out for any small victory, thread-parties are held regularly and hugs are always welcome! Grin

Once you have your BFP, feel free to hang around and share your wisdom and virtual cocktails with the JSers.

Keep us up to date with gossip!

*

Most of these rules are well and truly broken!! But we try to chill - honest

Ah well - that's me out for another cycle, ERTD got me today Sad

I'm at work, and have had to hold back the tears - especially when I see all the newborns in their prams being pushed around the store, easier to see them now the weather is warmer and they're not hidden behind mountains of blankets! I can see all the babygrows hanging up and can smell the baby toiletries as I pass that aisle. Think I'll treat myself to a bottle of wine.

Hopefully we've got all illnesses out of the way now, so can get some serious JSing in this cycle! But then, if I fall this cycle, I'd be due to give birth around the time of OH's 40th and DD1's 18th birthdays Hmm that'd just be my luck Grin

nickelbabyhatcher · 23/03/2011 17:13

:( oh, crow sorry.

you can have some of my hormones, if you want them. I want to eat, but i don't fancy anything.

at least you and your DH get to enjoy some JSing! Grin

JosieSmith1 · 23/03/2011 17:42

So sorry Crow Sad

BamBam21 · 23/03/2011 18:45

Sorry crow. The evil witch just gets you like that sometimes. Sad

crowette · 23/03/2011 19:30

Thanks ladies!

I've got too many hormones raging at the moment Grin Am home now, OH made me a cuppa and I'm going to grab a hot water bottle for my tum. At least I know I am ovulationg now ... have to admit to breaking thread rules and doing a little charting this cycle, just to see if my body is working, you see! Blush There was a definite rise in temp, but not sure of exact day of ovulation as there were a couple of days I forgot to temp. But it dropped dramatically this morning, so I knew I was out.

On the agenda this cycle - lots of sex, lots of Evening Primose Oil and trying to lose some weight!

JosieSmith1 · 24/03/2011 08:26

Crow my friend said to me on tuesday that when I finally get pg, did I want to look back and say that trying was really stressful and I struggled through the whole process, or did I want to look back and say 'yes it was difficult at times, but we had great sex and loads of fun trying' Grin I'm trying to remember this because she's so right!

DH has been sleeping on the floor as his back is sore, and when I went to bed last night, for the first time in about 2 months I went straight to sleep and fell into a really deep sleep. About half an hour later DH decided he was sleeping upstairs and woke me up Angry I woke up again at 5am for some reason, then couldn't get back to sleep and now I'm knackered and I don't feel well [grumpy face] so I'nm prepared for today to be extra difficult as colleague is going for her 12 week scan so I'll hear all about that this morning (scan is this afternoon so I'll have to look at it tomorrow) and I'm just not in the mood cos I'm so tired. Also, our bosses have said that as we don't have a radio licence we can't have the radio on so it's really quiet and boring in here. I have my mp3 on at the mo but come 9am I'll not be able to listen to it Angry bah.

crowette · 24/03/2011 08:38

I'm trying to think like that Josie, I suppose the arrival of ERTD just makes things worse! I forgot to mention that after seeing loads of babies on the shop floor, I went upstairs to the locker room to have a breather, and there was another colleague on the phone to someone, saying how she'd just had her 12 weeks scan - so that's ANOTHER pregnancy in the store!! Envy

Aaaaannyway - I'm sure it will happen for us! Just taking longer than the couple of cycles or so that it took for my two DDs, as that was 18 and 12 years ago Shock

BamBam21 · 24/03/2011 09:23

Morning everybody.

Crow I wish you lots of luck with your plans for this cycle!Wink

Josie try to stay calm dearie. As you have your MP3 with you, maybe if you start to feel stressed you could nip away for 5 minutes and listen to something that would make you feel brighter.Smile

I have dropped DS at school and am about to have some toast, and then I have a telephone screening interview for a job. Apparently it will only take 10 minutes, so I don't know what it will involve. I actually don't want a job Blush I like being a full-time mummy, but needs must I suppose.

babylann · 24/03/2011 09:51

Good morning everyone. That's great advice Josie. I hope you sleep better tonight. And Crow, I'm sorry you're having such a tough time. What is the job for BamBam? I used to work doing telephone screening interviews for a well-known mobile phone provider, so if it's anything like the same process they'll ask you general questions about yourself, e.g. your previous job experience, qualifications, etc, they'll tell you a bit about the job, and then they'll ask you a few questions like "Tell me about a time you have dealt with a difficult customer" or something. They're looking for you to be able to talk at length about yourself and selling yourself rather than having a good answer. I could put someone down as a pass if they had told me in great detail about a certain success they had on a computer game as the answer to "Tell me about one of your best achievements", for some reason, but would have to fail someone who gave me a four word jaw-dropping answer like "I have been knighted". (Never happened, but can't think of a good example right now!)

Not a good day for me so far. DP failed his first driving test this morning. Apparently it was 2 minutes from the end of the test as well where he incurred his major :( But he got a lot of positive feedback and is very positive about his next test, luckily.

Also, I went and bought a BP monitor yesterday and decided on a whim to buy another pg test. I guess I thought that seeing as I'd STILL not had a period, it wouldn't hurt to check. Another BFN of course, which was quite disheartening. And the BP monitor needs AAA batteries which they don't sell anywhere near to my house, so have to wait til we can make the trip to town before I get to use it.

On a more positive note, I had a funny experience this morning. We ran out of electricity on the meter so I had to go to the shop to get some in a rush. A woman stopped me when I was half way down a street to tell me there was a man who smelled "boozy" trying to flog a CD player, so to be warned. So I did what I normally do in those situations and rung my mum so I could walk past him with an "excuse" to be rude and ignore him, but he wasn't there. As I got into the shop, I thought the coast was clear and told her about the warning, and why I'd rung her when I didn't really have anything to say - turned out he was in the shop - eek! Luckily, he didn't hear me, was too busy talking to the till assistant, trying to sell him the CD player.

Till assistant: "Hmm. Does it work?"
Sweaty (poo-ee) drunk guy: "Of course it does!"
Till assistant: "Let's try it then."

So they plugged it in and it didn't work! The drunk guy stood there for about 5 minutes trying to fix it, it just kept making a crackling noise. Very embarrassing! Good job I'd been warned and he hadn't been in the street, or else I might have felt pressured into buying it, assuming it was less than the fiver I had in my pocket.

Sorry for the essay - guess I must be having a bit of a lonely day! Grin

JosieSmith1 · 24/03/2011 09:51

Crow that's rubbish. It's really hard, believe me I know! And I'm not going to say try to think positively cos sometimes you just can't and sometimes it gets on top of you but have a hug and a Brew, take a deep breath and put your happy face on Smile

JosieSmith1 · 24/03/2011 09:54

Cross post Babylann, sorry to hear about DP's test but at least he'll be much more confident and will consequently pass next time. And sorry for BFN Sad Hope you feel better soon. Have a Brew and hug from me

nickelbabyhatcher · 24/03/2011 09:59

babylann , I've got triple As in my shop if you want me to send you a pack (PM me)
and sorry your DP failed. :(
and Grin at the drunk guy!

Josie - sorry you're finding it tough (i'll try not to go on too much....)

bam - hope your telephone thing goes as well as you want it to Wink

BamBam21 · 24/03/2011 10:59

Well, that's the phone interview done, and now they want me to go for a proper interview next Saturday (the day after my birthday so I won't be able to get myself trollied!)Sad I know I should be happy to have an interview, but it's for a call centre, and like I said, I would really just like to be a SAHM. Oh well. Unfortunately, my degree is in Medieval English Language, which I loved, but it doesn't lend itself to many jobs! I am soooooo jealous of you having your bookshop nickel.EnvySmile

Grin at the drunk guy babylann. Hope your DP isn't too down about his driving test. I'm sure he'll do fine next time around.

JosieSmith1 · 24/03/2011 11:09

Sorry Nickel, don't feel like you have to hide your excitement

Can anyone advise me? I'm looking at going for a new job within the same organisation, but would I qualify for maternity pay if I went off before I'd been in the new post 2 years?

kateepie2 · 24/03/2011 11:11

I was convinced I had failed my driving test about 5 minutes into it (had to do an unscheduled hill start and wasn't in gear, so rolled back...) fortunately was a minor thing, or the instructor decided as it wasn't scheduled he would ignore it and I passed. This followed having to turn back halfway to the test as I had forgotten my licence! I'm sure your DP will do it next time babylann Smile

Got a whole extra 2.5 hours in bed this morning... bliss! 6am starts have been hell!

kateepie2 · 24/03/2011 11:13

xpost

josie it depends on your organisation's policy (should be there in hr pages) but often it is still treated as continuous employment if you move posts - and by law they have to pay you SMP if you have been there 26 weeks before the 15th week before your due date.... not two years.

Some places (like mine) will treat you as continuously employed if you moved straight from another job (without a break) at another place.

Hope that helps! xx

MollyDefoe · 24/03/2011 11:17

Hi Josie - my organisation's policy is that you have to have worked in the institution itself for 1 year prior to going off on mat leave; but it doesn't matter if you change positions within the institution. But their HR department should be able to tell you. I'm in a similar position: am applying for a different (permanent) post within the same institution, which would take the pressure of TTC before my temporary contract is up.

BamBam21 · 24/03/2011 11:27

Hi Molly. Have we met before?Smile

MollyDefoe · 24/03/2011 11:29

Hi Bambam! Oh sorry! I've just realised that I haven't written on this thread before - have been lurking here, and writing on the Charting and First Timers thread. Sorry for so rudely barging in without introducing myself!! DP and I are TTC#1, first cycle. hello all!

BamBam21 · 24/03/2011 11:57

That's okay Molly! I just wondered if you were a name-changer!Grin Welcome to the thread.

nickelbabyhatcher · 24/03/2011 12:02

welcome Molly Grin

MollyDefoe · 24/03/2011 12:03

Thanks, Nickel - and congratulations!

nickelbabyhatcher · 24/03/2011 12:08

thanks!
Grin

NervousNelly · 24/03/2011 19:45

Woweee - you lot have been busy Grin. And not just chatting, but we have a new BFP too. YAY for Nickel, really happy for you :)

Hi nelly. Sorry you're having to be a furtive MNer just now, and sorry about ERTD. How's your horse coming along?

DP has just gone out to band practice, and I'm just about to put DS to bed and then pour myself a lovely drink.Blush I know I shouldn't, but there's little chance of any JS action tonight as he's always exhausted after practice. You never know though, so I'll just have a little one!Wink
