The (updated)(again)(again) 'rules' from our Just Shagging Originator for the Viroids:

Maintain a relaxed attitude at all times - drink if you want too, especially on your birthday (or when you've had bad news). Thread precedent dictates if you drink to excess you will get a BFP (but not recommended). (But it does work).

Covet thy husband and enjoy every minute. Shag at every opportunity - shag-capes and awesome superpowers optional.

Keep acronym-age to a minimum! EWCM is now to be referred to as 'pant snot'. Try not to get sucked in by Fertility Friend (at least for a while), but knowing where you are in your cycle and furkling for pant snot is most definitely allowed.
OV is ovulation - I'm allowed to forget what date I've OVd, feel free to join me on that one!

Bunting is to be put out for any small victory, thread-parties are held regularly and hugs are always welcome! Grin

Once you have your BFP, feel free to hang around and share your wisdom and virtual cocktails with the JSers.

Keep us up to date with gossip!

Most of these rules are well and truly broken!! But we try to chill - honest

On my phone again, do excuse grammar and spelling. I'm at mums now, and bah! Not a great appointment... I gave him my letter and he took my blood pressure and pulse rate. Pulse rate was insane again, 137 this time... And my blood pressure was really high too for the first time since I had dd. so, as expected, it became all about that. I'm being tested for my thyroid and am still being advised to go on the pill to "regularise" (his weird) my periods, which I said I wasn't willing to do. Got an appointment in 2 weeks to find out the results (also being tested for anaemia) as he says both conditions can cause irregular periods.

I feel quite disappointed to be honest, they seem unwilling to accept I wasn't another baby and don't trust me that it's anxiety re: pulse.

The whole thing has made me think I'll get a pg test though as I feel so pregnant all the time and my bp being raised actually feels like it could be another "symptom". I'm so daft, eh?

I keep thinking you must all think I'm crazy.

kateepie2 · 21/03/2011 14:05

If you can afford it Babylann, have a look on Amazon for a blood pressure monitor, they aren't expensive and you can take your own bp and most will have a memory function so you could do that for a while and have some proof that its 'white coat syndrome' or whatever they call it.

I got one as in my early weeks I felt like my bp got very low first thing in the morning - its usually 120/75 and this morning it was 115/68 so quite a big difference.

FWIW the first two doc/walk in appointments I had I was anxious (doc - why are you anxious - me cos my hormones are all over the place and I'm shit scared I'll miscarry, der) and my pulse rate and BP were right up.

Going on the pill is not going to regularise your periods, it might regularise when you bleed, but not quite the same thing!

Sorry for the ramble Wink good luck with the tests, am keeping fingers firmly crossed for you.

xx

nickelbabysnatcher · 21/03/2011 14:10

I secodn gettign your own BP test kit.
You can write down a daily BP and take that along.

Tell them you don't want them to take your BP.
and that you don't want to go on the pill.

Sometimes I wonder whether doctors want what's easiest for them and don't think about what the patient wants.
Angry

BamBam21 · 21/03/2011 14:21

Oh babylann that's so annoying. I agree with nickel about the doctors doing just whatever gets you out the door quickest. I hadn't heard of home BP test kits before, but it might be an idea.

I'm off to the doctor's later too, as I have a manky toe, that has been keeping me awake the past 3 nights as it's so itchy. It's really sore too, and the athlete's foot cream isn't helping. Yuck.Blush

kateepie2 · 21/03/2011 14:31

might be eczema bam if it is hold out for the stronger stuff (but use very sparingly) or the itching will drive you totally mental! I got this on my hands (and then feet) two years ago and nearly clawed my own hands off with scratching!

BamBam21 · 21/03/2011 14:37

Thanks katee. I have two identical splodges of very dry skin on the tops of both feet, which are weird but never really bother me apart from occassional itching, but it's my wee toe that's driving me mad. I thought it was athlete's foot from wearing boots and chunky socks for the last few months, but maybe it is something like eczema. I just want a good night's sleep!!!ConfusedGrin

nickelbabysnatcher · 21/03/2011 15:24

have you tried Germolene?

it's the only thing that stops me from itching.

(although, Eurax is very good too)

BamBam21 · 21/03/2011 15:33

It doesn't work for me nickel. I've had this before in exactly the same place, and they said it was athlete's foot but that it had got infected, so I got vream and antibiotics. I don't know but nothing seems to be helping, and it's driving me mad, especially at night.

Anyway, I will be going along soon, so hopefully I'll get something to help. And I get free prescriptions - the upside of having a dodgy thyroid babylann!Grin

babylann · 21/03/2011 18:40

Oh, you have a dodgy thyroid? I didn't know! As I've only been able to check on my phone lately, I can miss a lot of posts because of loading etc.

How come that gets you free prescriptions? I'm not looking forward to having to pay for prescriptions again, luckily I still get them free as I've not yet completed my year after giving birth - that's why I booked in my last free dentist appointment for next month too! Grin

Thanks for the tip everyone, I'll definitely look into getting one. I was already planning on buying one if/when I get pregnant because of the pre-eclampsia (DP says you're more likely to get it second time around if you've had it before?), but I checked at the chemist and they were only £10 so can't hurt to get one now. Will get DP to pick one up for me on his way home from work tomorrow.

BamBam21 · 22/03/2011 10:41

Morning everyone. How are you all?

I got a better sleep last night, as the doctor gave me a new cream for my toe. I was awake from about 4 with it though.Sad Hopefully tonight will be better.

Yes babylann I have an underactive thyroid. I was diagnosed with it when DS was about 18 months I think. I had been feeling really low, no energy, and I was putting on weight. I don't know if it affected my periods though as I was on the pill then, but I think it can. The doctor said that it's quite common for women to develop it after having a baby because of all the hormone changes. Anyway, it's on the list of conditions that qualify for free prescriptions!Smile It's no problem to manage either. I take one levothyroxine tablet every morning, and that's me sorted out.

Woo-hoo!Grin Brilliant news!

nickelbabysnatcher · 22/03/2011 11:09

thanks! Grin

BamBam21 · 22/03/2011 11:15

Does your DH know yet nickel?

nickelbabysnatcher · 22/03/2011 11:24

funny story Grin

Every day, he gets up at 5, and I switch the lights on for him (to help, you see cos i feel guilty for having another 2 hours in bed )
All night it had been bugging me, because of the symptoms , so I decided I would have to POAS/PIAR in the morning. Anyway, it had to be when he gets up, because I always have a wee then, too.
and it wouldn't be fair to do it when he wasn't there.
So, I got up, put the lights on, grabbed the test (well, i say grabbed, hunted in the cupboard in which i'd put it because it wasn't quite where i remembered putting it), PIAR. DH came into the bathroom, and I explained what I was doing.
so I put the stick in, counted, and then put the cap on, popped it on the side of the bath and scarpered before I could see it.
The test was a 2-minuter, so I came back after 3 minutes and Shock - the | line was much more prominent than the - line. Shock

So I showed it to DH, who said "what does it say then?" so I showed him the leaflet (the + was exactly the same as one of the demo pictures)- he repeated that he didn't know what it meant/how it read, so I had to point ot he one. "does that mean pregnant or not pregnant?" (slow to catch on, this one HmmGrin )
I said it was positive, to which he replied "oh, so it means you might be pregnant then".
[doh]

JosieSmith1 · 22/03/2011 11:27

Nickel I can't see your piccy but I bet I can guess what it is, huge congrats!!!!!!!! GrinGrinGrin

Well me and DH have been like rabbits this weekend Blush, even had a trip to ann summers (probably TMI Grin) so if it's not my turn this month I'll be bloody furious!

Can anyone give me some advice though, I'm going out on sat for best mate's hen party and although I'm not entirely sure which day I oved, it would have been around sat/sunday so by next sat I could be around 6/7DPO, am I safe to get hammered drink if we are successful this month? Obviously I won't know on sat

nickelbabysnatcher · 22/03/2011 11:30

I didn't think it'd be my turn either.
this thread really is fertile, isn't it!
Shock

fingers crossed for you Josie xxx

I had a Wine last night, so i'm sure you'll be fine! (perhaps nto hammered, though, because you could stil JS if you're only slightly tipsy)

BamBam21 · 22/03/2011 11:31

Grin nickel! I think I would be slow to catch on at 5am too!!

Excellent work on the JSing Josie!Grin TBH, I got really drunk on a weekend away in York just before I got my BFP with DS, so I'm sure you would be fine. Just take plenty of vitamins and enjoy yourself!Smile

JosieSmith1 · 22/03/2011 11:35

That was partly my plan Nickel Grin I figured I could just have a couple before we go out, will save myself some money too. As it's a hen party there's all manner of games being considered, one of which is to have a Wine every time the bride blows her 'willy whistle' but I'm gonna have a sly word in her ear and explain why I'll not be partaking. Will be a fun night either way

BamBam21 · 22/03/2011 11:45

I just e-mailed DP to tell him that yet another viroid had a BFP, so we need to get going with renewed vigour. Maybe his masculine competitive streak will kick in!Grin

caramelgirl · 22/03/2011 11:52

CONGRATULATIONS Nickel how wonderful. Hope that your DH has worked it all out now.
I have same dilemma with a family wedding weekend after next Josie. I read, and now happily believe, that the 2ww is actually the safest time to drink etc as the fertilised egg is self-sufficient and not rooting into your blood supply for a week or so, so it is not as affected by drinking etc. as it would be pre-conception or once implanted. And if it was in a book it must be true.
Am feeling quite cheery this month, sunshine is fab, eh? Met up with close friend who is 14 weeks pregnant (she's been away for a month) and realised that I have got over her havign "stolen" MY pregnancy- yyy, obvs v immature of me- and now feel really happy for her rather than just acting really happy for her.
Tried zumba in my series of new dance classes at gym experience and liked it much much more than balletfit. It was lots of latino/bellydancing moves and lurching around fast to loud music. Very uncool and reminded me of my raver days [old gimmer emoticon], so I was happy. Still got a comedy pregnancy tummy on me despite not being pregnant so I really have to work it off before the family wedding in, errr, 10 days. Or spanx..wanders off to investigate industrial strength tummy squishers.....

nickelbabysnatcher · 22/03/2011 11:59

maybe you could have one glass for the Willy Whistle game, and take one sip every time it's blown?
then drink pop for the rest of the night.

nickelbabysnatcher · 22/03/2011 12:01

caramel - sounds fun! Grin
I do bellydancing, and I think i'm supposed to be advised not to dance for a few weeks now I'm pg (oo-er!), but I don't think it's going to stop me - I enjoy if too much!

caramelgirl · 22/03/2011 12:08

ooh, Nickel how thrilling, and soon you will have a really big belly to wave around. Bet you keep just grinning to yourself in smug and upduffed way. Such a magic thing
