Conception

When's the best time to get pregnant? Use our interactive ovulation calculator to work out when you're most fertile and most likely to conceive.

No Science. Just Shagging. Them's the rules! Thread for the Viroids.

The (updated)(again)(again) 'rules' from our Just Shagging Originator for the Viroids:

Maintain a relaxed attitude at all times - drink if you want too, especially on your birthday (or when you've had bad news). Thread precedent dictates if you drink to excess you will get a BFP (but not recommended). (But it does work).

Covet thy husband and enjoy every minute. Shag at every opportunity - shag-capes and awesome superpowers optional.

Keep acronym-age to a minimum! EWCM is now to be referred to as 'pant snot'. Try not to get sucked in by Fertility Friend (at least for a while), but knowing where you are in your cycle and furkling for pant snot is most definitely allowed.
OV is ovulation - I'm allowed to forget what date I've OVd, feel free to join me on that one!

Bunting is to be put out for any small victory, thread-parties are held regularly and hugs are always welcome! Grin

Once you have your BFP, feel free to hang around and share your wisdom and virtual cocktails with the JSers.

Keep us up to date with gossip!

Most of these rules are well and truly broken!! But we try to chill - honest

nickel I was beginning to think you'd uncovered my 6.30am wine habit lol! I may well be imagining it, that's why I've spent a TENNER on a fancy Clearblue one that's going to spell it out for me. Now if I can only wait 2 more days just to make sure...

LizzyMathsWhizzy · 07/03/2011 19:26

Two more days will be worth it, you have 9 months to enjoy it if you are right, and there is no need to worry yourself with a BFN if you are indeed upduffed. Haddocks at the ready ladies, I think we need them!

Sending +ve vibes your way Pan

essenceofSES · 07/03/2011 22:11

OOOOOOOUUUUUUUUUUUCCCCCCCCCHHHHHHHH!!!!!

Just had second session with personal trainer and I'm not sure I'll be able to move tomorrow! We did step ups on park bench, tricep dips on park bench, press ups on park bench and stretches on park bench. I am never going to ask anyone to donate a park bench in my name when I'm gone as they are just used for torture!
I sooo need to lose some weight and get fit though and surely a certainty for getting pg if I lose a bit of weight, I'll get pg and put it all on again!

Pan - hello and tentative congrats Grin

Lizzy - love your fish!

Hello everyone else!

PenguinPoo4 · 07/03/2011 22:23

Hi! Sounds like everyone had good weekends. Me too, lovely drinkies with friends on Sat night and a lazy day baking on Sunday. Hardly get any time off work so dont like to do to much on those rare days that I have at home :)
I should really have been at the gym though, am feeling guilty ater reading Essence's post! Keep thinking though that maybe I should change my gym routine just in case I get preggers, will have to change it then anyway as currently I do weights (heavy ones).
BamBam, my 2WW buddy, glad you are getting 'symptoms', not sure I am though Envy When are you going to test? If my cycle is 28 days, which i have no idea if it is naturally as this is my first month off the pill, then I should be due on Friday. I usually get period 'feelings' for a couple days before it comes, so I think if I havent had any of those I wont be able to wait beyone Friday morning before testing. My first month of trying, I couldn't be that lucky - could i?

panpipe · 08/03/2011 10:08

Step away from the haddocks ladies I resisted! There's a stick in the cupboard saying "pee on me, pee on me!" but I ignored it!

essence Ouch for you! I used to do British Military Fitness and have never been able to look at a park the same way since. What used to be a nice walk has turned into a "I used to run backwards up that hill, used to give people piggy backs across the football pitch."

Penguin that sounds like me last month, my first off the pill as well. Turned out that ERTD made an appearance a whole 6 weeks after the last one. Good luck to you though for a short stay here!

BamBam21 · 08/03/2011 10:43

Morning everybody!

pan I hope that your little faint line turns into a massive BFP soon! Best of luck.Smile

penguin I'm not feeling quite so confident about things now. I still feel a bit queasy and have ERTD-type crampy feelings, but also my boobs are getting more sore again, like before ERTD. I would be due on Sunday/Monday. Can't decide whether to spend money I don't have on an early test, or wait until I'm actually late and use the single cheapie one I have in the bathroom! I really hope it might be a lucky month for both of us.Wink

essence I think I need a lie down just reading your post!Brew

LizzyMathsWhizzy · 08/03/2011 17:05

penguin and Bam I'm on the same cycle as you as well, I don't know when to test, because it could be ages before I get a period after miscarriage, but I don't want to test and get BFNs. I have a few cheapie tests, so I might try tomorrow morning, even though I'm not due until Friday (ish)

PenguinPoo4 · 08/03/2011 20:54

Hi Everyone! Esp Lizzie - sorry about your miscarriage sweetie. Let us know how tomorrows test goes. I doubt I'll be able to put off testing till I'm overdue, will prob do it the day my period'should' be due. Wont do it earlier though as what I've read about 'chemical pregnancies' worries me, I think I would find that very upsetting (though not in the same league as a 'proper' miscarriage of course). Dont see the point of knowing that I'm kind of pregnant if there's a chance of it not sticking and me getting my period anyway. Saying that, the ovulation sticks I just ordered (naughty penguin, not sticking to the Viroid rules Grin) came with some free early response tests, not sure they'll remain unopened forever...
Dont think this is my month though, really am feeling pre-menstrual cramps and bloating already. God, if I conceive next month it could be a Xmas baby, not sure if thats a good thing or not!
Good luck everyone! Especially Pan, sounds like you might be next for some good news. Cant wait to find out! Make sure you all plan lovely treats for your test days to cheer you up and take your minds off things if you dont get the results you want x

panpipe · 09/03/2011 10:01

AAAARGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!! That tenner was worth it as fancy Clearblue stick gave me a 1-2 weeks BFP this morning!!!!! :o

Need to make an appointment with the doctors now I guess to be 200% sure and get dates and things. Is it true that they officially count the start of the pregnancy as the first day of your last period? In which case that's 6 weeks already for me! I still find it difficult to believe as I haven't been having any symptoms at all.

Good timing too with regards to stopping people getting suspicious - as of today I'm 'giving up alcohol for Lent' so by around Easter it should be ok to start telling people.

Penguin I know it's difficult but do try and wait until at least the day you 'should' start ERTD. It will take a while for your cycle to get back to some semblance of order and it's soo frustrating!

nickelprincess · 09/03/2011 10:04

pan -
I second your "AAAARGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!" and raise you a
[big girly scream while running round the room waving sparklers]

nickelprincess · 09/03/2011 10:05

Lizzy - :( it must be really hard on you. [unmumsnetty hugs] and Brew

BamBam21 · 09/03/2011 10:06

Morning everybody! Goodness it's quiet on here at the moment.

pan is this your testing day with the fancy Clearblue Digital? Best of luck dearie. A BFP is just what the thread needs I think.Smile

Did you POAS Lizzy? Nice to know that you, penguin and I are all in it together!Grin I still feel sick, have ERTD cramps and sore boobs, but I've been feeling like that for over a week now. Sore boobs are a usual ERTD symptom for me, but I don't usually feel so blah for so long.Confused I'm going into town later, so might just buckle and buy a fancy test.

Everyone else okay?

BamBam21 · 09/03/2011 10:08

AAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGHHHHHHH!!!!!! Cross post!Grin

Brilliant pan!Wine

PenguinPoo4 · 09/03/2011 10:16

Congragulations Pan!!!!!! Am very happy for you, and plan to celebrate your news later with lots of Wine while I still can!
Morning Bam - think you'd get an accurate result this early? I was sure you said you weren't due till Sun or Mon...

BamBam21 · 09/03/2011 10:35

That's right penguin.Blush I'm not due until then, but I was thinking First Response claims to be accurate 6 days early!BlushBlush

I actually feel really sick and headachey today, but it might just be a bug.Confused

babylann · 09/03/2011 10:44

The fancy tests say you can take them up to 6 days before your missed period.

And hi everyone! I haven't been on mumsnet for so long that this cherished thread of mine fell off my "active topics" :(

Congratulations, panpipe! That's great news. Wine

Does anyone here watch OBEM? I only started watching it a few weeks ago, but thinking maybe I should stop. It makes me cry so much! Sometimes with happiness, sometimes with sadness. And fills me with excitement about doing.that.again, but then fills me with fear that maybe I never will Hmm. I know that's silly as I'm young, and if there is something wrong I'm sure it can be corrected etc, and irregular periods are hardly uncommon and likely to result in me needed a hysterectomy or anything. But I'm one of those people who can't stop themselves from worrying and seeing the doom in everything.

And I worry that if we don't have a baby in the next couple of years, we never will because I can't hold off going to uni and getting a job forever.

Oh yeah and I'm still without a BFP or ERTD. Well, truthfully, I've stopped POAS. Seems like a very pointless endeavor when my next period is due in a week and I haven't even had my last one yet.

PenguinPoo4 · 09/03/2011 10:44

BamBam - you are naughty! Let us know how it goes though :) Altenatively, you can wait and test 'with' me on Friday x I had crampy feelings yesterday morning, but not since so just dont know. Might be best in a way if I'm not preggers first go, as it'd give me and DP more time to get used to it all (and save more money!)

BamBam21 · 09/03/2011 11:06

Welcome back babylann. Sorry you're still struggling with your irregular ERTDs. Did you go to your doctor, just to put your mind at rest?

I know penguin, I'm bad!Blush I just feel really excited, even though I'm pretty sure ERTD is coming soon. It's funny, I think DP and I would be in a state of panic if I got a BFP, as we have been trying FOREVER!!!Grin

panpipe · 09/03/2011 11:18

Thanks guys. I'll be celebrating with a decaf Brew

Also hugs to Lizzy and Josie if you're around - this is probably the last thing you want at the moment.

Babylann love that phrase 'next one due and haven't had my last one yet'. Hehe!

kateepie2 · 09/03/2011 11:47

Congratulations pan enjoy your decaf Brew while you can... I've totally gone off it, even decaf is bleugh. Sad

Lizzy I think there is a good name for the cycle following MC/EP... its called the WTF cycle, for good reason I think. Best of luck and I hope it all settles soon.

Bambam and babylann get yourself some of the ebay cheapies... 10 v. sensitive tests for £3... worth every penny! Grin

BamBam21 · 09/03/2011 12:31

Oh bugger. I think it might be game over for me. Just went to the loo, and had a tiny bit of spotting (just tiny mind you!). Feel really bleurgh and just feel sure the evil witch is on her way.Sad

Oh well. I might be wrong.Smile

essenceofSES · 09/03/2011 18:06

Pan - congrats!! Really pleased to see a BFP on the thread. Your next challenge is to make it contagious Wink

BamBam - I hope you're wrong about ERTD being on it's way...

No one should be that impressed by my personal trainer sessions. I am in dire need as totally unfit (can't run more than 100metres) and overweight. Just hope this will help with both though! Also did Pilates this morning so hope that will help with my belly and overall tone!

Hello everyone else! I promise to try and catch up properly with everyone's posts later in the week - just been a bit hectic here so far this week!

LizzyMathsWhizzy · 09/03/2011 18:36

Katee WTF cycle is right! I am surprisingly ok with other pregnant ladies, which is just as well since the teacher in the classroom next to mine is 15 weeks... exactly the same as I would be. I'm mostly genuinely happy for everyone else (including Pan Eek!), but just a teeny bit jealous. I think I'll be ok as long as I'm pregnant before she has the baby. I think it will be tough 6 months down the line if we still haven't managed to make a bean stick.

Bam sorry about ERTD, I did POAS and BFN, and I have cramps, so its probably going to be game over soon. My next test will be Sunday if nothing, but its pretty unlikely I think.

Penguin I admire your discipline not testing til Friday, you're a better woman than I am.

Babylann I also have to stop watching OBEM because of the tears! I can't help myself though. My heart really went out to the lady who had had 4 miscarriages and took nearly two years to conceive. I thought to myself I hope she had somewhere on the web like mumsnet to talk about it...maybe she was a viroid! Every time I watch it and cry my husband looks at me like Hmm Confused Hmm

Thanks for the hugs nickel

Quote for the day viroids: Everything will be alright in the end. If it is not alright, then it is not the end.

olismum23 · 09/03/2011 23:50

Hi ladies was wondering if i could join your thread, I have been on the just m/c and want to try again thread. I need to chill out still on the WTF cycle at the moment m/c on the 8th Feb.

brightcopperkettles · 10/03/2011 04:38
