A continuation of so many threads spent waiting to ttc that I've completely forgotten what number thread we're on.

If you're waiting to ttc, stop by and say hello! Smile

minipie · 20/06/2011 11:02

Congratulations AC! So no last minute mind changes from DH? Very impressed!

I would welcome you to the world of ovulation-obsessing, cycle day counting, and all the rest, but I think you might be there already Wink

AmandaCooper · 20/06/2011 12:50

shav I've been using the Fertility Awareness Method to prevent pg for 12 months, before that I was on the pill.

Minipie no wobbles so far, I'm so very hopeful this month.

OP posts:
shavmcv · 20/06/2011 13:46

What's the fertility awareness method ?

Aw I'm well jel loads of people around me r having babies and I have to waitSad
Aw well is only 3 months (and counting every day!) until I can start trying so hoping it will fly in !!

Can I ask why you waited ? This thread was massive when I joined so sorry if you've already said Smile

AmandaCooper · 20/06/2011 18:19

The fertility awareness method is charting, which you will have heard about on other threads no doubt. If you want to learn more, have a look on the fertility friend website and the Taking Charge of Your Fertility website.

My main reason for waiting was that DH wasn't ready. There have been a lot of positives to waiting but if I don't get pg it will cancel them all out! What about you, why are you waiting?

OP posts:
shavmcv · 20/06/2011 18:57

Oh ok . Not long joined so haven't been on many threads yet .

I'm getting married in October so I am waiting until nearer the time . I'm thinking of getting my mirena out sometime in September . I take it this isn't your first tho ? It will b my second , have dd who is 6 . I'm starting to get a bit impatient for her sake also she is beginning to develop a bit of only child syndrome Grin

Oh I'm so excited for you I can't wait to start trying and waiting to take test and all the excitement of it.

Smile
notthehippopotamus · 20/06/2011 19:15

Yay! Good luck AC - you really deserve a quick result after so much waiting, so fingers crossed. :)

Welcome shavmcv and congratulations on the wedding - not too long to wait now. At 6 I imagine your dd will love both the wedding and helping out with a new brother or sister. Grin

I've finally managed to get a doctor's appt for Thurs to discuss coming off pill etc. which isn't very significant, we're a long way off TTC yet, but feels like a step forward nevertheless.

shavmcv · 20/06/2011 20:30

Thank u notthehippopotamus Smile

I'm getting a wee bit stressed now over the wedding it 4 months to go and it feels both like it's so far away but just around the corner at the same time !

I feel like the wedding is creeping up on me but it's taking ages to get to ttc time !

Have you been waiting long to ttc ?

notthehippopotamus · 20/06/2011 21:46

Not that long compared to some I think :) We've had an ongoing thing where DH wanted to wait till he was 30 and I wanted at least one DC before I was 30. He is one year older than me so strictly that would be possible, and may be what we end up with. I've been hoping to move him forward. But we've only been settled enough house and jobs-wise for me to really let myself think about it for about a year, and now there's not really a good reason to wait I feel properly impatient about waiting. Plus lots of friends have had babies in the last 18 months or so, so that has really made me broody - but is having a positive effect on DH I think.

We got married 4 years ago this August and it does come round quickly, but I am quite bossy Blush so just got on and organised it and DH very easygoing and my folks not very interested so turned out not too stressful to organise in the end. (Just stressful enough to help me lose a bit of weight, which was a bonus! - although that was more likely due to my job.) Hope everything falls into place with your plans, and relax and enjoy a Wine while you're not TTC!

Ratata · 20/06/2011 22:53

notthehippopotamus - that's a really good sign about your DH looking up things about maternity pay. Guys like to start looking at the practical things and planning them out. I hope the GP appointment goes ok.

MrsTwinks - that's a shame about not being able to TTC because of the jabs and wedding, at least you have a date though for when you will be starting :) Something to look forward to. And make the most of all the free alcohol at the wedding... if it's free that is. Either way get drunk lol. And yay for riding an elephant! That will be so cool.

Shavmcv - how are your wedding plans coming along? I'm getting married in November :)

AC - yay!!! Good luck with the TTC and that's so exciting that you have started. I hope it happens fast for you although I know it's different for everyone.

I'm getting increasingly excited about TTC. It's 4.5 months until the wedding and the closer it gets, the more I also think about starting TTC and how fun it will be. I'm so ready. My job is all up in the air again after thinking I would be moving to the IT department. Will keep you posted. Stupid managers lol. My mum bought a book on knitting childrens clothes, safe to say she is as excited as me. It will be her first grandchild :)

shavmcv · 21/06/2011 09:34

Ooooh I'm in the same boat as someone else do u know how glad I am to hear that ratata !!!! We can b ttc buddies Grin

Yeah they are coming along great I'm super organised !! Although I still have that nagging feeling that I'm forgetting things !! Smile

The guest list is the thing that is causing me the most stress right now !!! Htb family is sooooo big !! Confused

What about you , are you all organised ?

AmandaCooper · 23/06/2011 08:42

Shav yes it will be our first, we've just been waiting a long time!

Thanks notthehippopotamus! I hope your doctors appointment goes well today!

Ratata thanks! We haven't started for real as it turns out and as it's CD13 today I reckon I've got about 5 days left to wait. But it's SO CLOSE!!

Let's hope it happens quickly for all of us.

OP posts:
notthehippopotamus · 23/06/2011 17:55

Thanks for the good wishes, the appointment went well. GP very laid back, said he didn't particularly advise doing anything before TTC, reckoned I could wait till actually PG before bothering with folic acid, and seemed to think he would be seeing me again, successfully updiffed, very soon. I like his optimism, but I suspect it was mainly because he was running late even though I was only the 3rd appointment of the day and he wanted to get rid of me! Grin

After a really unexpectedly depressing day at work I am now thinking that mat leave is an even more enticing prospect than previously.

Fingers crossed for you AC.

HeavensNetIsWide · 27/06/2011 22:14

Welcome shavmcv (which iPad helpfully 'corrects' to whacked Hmm ), have fun planning the wedding, it'll be over before you know it!

I'm not sure about that folic acid advice notthehippopotamus, but glad it went well, all progress is good progress! Positive vibes are good too, even if slightly rushed....

shavmcv · 27/06/2011 23:42

Thank you heavens .Smile

I have now decided I am getting my mirena Out in 11 weeks !! And gouging every day haha !!

If u don't mind me asking y are u waiting heavens ? Shav is fine my iPhone doesn't correct that - but I have sent some weird texts cause of my iPhone correcting things !!! GrinGrin

babyonbord · 28/06/2011 09:05

it's so strange that you're waiting to ttc (not in a bad way) i didn't plan either of my two pregnancies in that much detail, me and my dh are far too impulsive to wait for anything plus i'm used to getting my own way lol. Although we have agreed a 5 year wait between this and the next one i doubt it will be that long i'll wake up one morning decide i want a baby and make one there and then that's pretty much what happened with this one.

mytime777 · 28/06/2011 11:32

Hi Pls can I join too?

mines a g&t if anyones going to the bar:)

I am in 'talks ' with my other half about babies.. which is moving in the right direction but there does always seem to be hurdles /excuses from his side as he is a little scared by the whole thought if it and plus wants to be the provider etc. I think he is thinking one day he'll wake up and just 'know' the time is right - which I told him doesnt often happen.
Money/jobs/payrises/holidays/ etc all seem to be getting in the way or perhaps need sorting in order to be 'more' ready.
We have discussed possibly having a summer 2012 baby so will need to get cracking soon i guess;)
I am soo broody and being 27 ( him 31) I feel we shouldnt wait around!! ( besides I'd like a few I think ;)

oh and I too came off the pill a year ago as I was getting severe migraines and now like how I feel ( less moody) .. although my other half would probably have something to say about the 'hats' he has to wear!! lol

I am guessing it is not just me that is now noticing pregnant ladies and new mums/babies every where now I am thinking about it!!
( sorry that went on a bit longer than I expected)

Soupqueen · 29/06/2011 13:34

Hi all!
Just back from holiday (trekking in Peru, the main reason we've put off TTC until July - although I'm still aware that OH could have a wobble now that it's imminent!)
very best of luck, Amanda, fab that OH is fully on board!
Mytime - 27 is still pretty young (I'm 35), don't fret too much about it!

I'm posting from my phone so apologies for typos/ missing anyone out.

I went to see the Doc for a TTC chat before my holidays, she was really positive, the only things I need to do are start on the folic acid (check) and get an MMR jab (check - Friday). I'm now almost within half a stone of a healthy BMI, so she doesn't think my weight will be an issue, yippee!

notthehippopotamus · 29/06/2011 17:31

Welcome mytime. Sounds like you are in a similar situation to me, although my DH does seem to be coming round to things now. He's getting fed up with me moaning about work as well so another reason why he thinks a bit of maternity leave would be good for me!

Soupqueen trekking in Peru sounds amazing! And now you have TTC to look forward to too. Sounds like your doc is a bit less offhand about the folic acid than mine. I think I might get some and start anyway, regardless of what he says.

Just got my copy of Taking Charge of Your Fertility - was 40% off on Amazon at the weekend so decided to treat myself. Not sure if it's a good idea or not - maybe should just be impulsive as babyonbord suggests - but I'm a control freak the type of person who likes to know what's going on, so figured it would be an interesting read!
