A continuation of so many threads spent waiting to ttc that I've completely forgotten what number thread we're on.

If you're waiting to ttc, stop by and say hello! Smile

Don't mind at all Cakes, I'm 28. How old is everyone else here? Oh, and happy birthday ? sorry I didn't spot that before!
I know it makes sense to avoid Christmas baby, but it just seems like there's always a good reason to put it off another month or so, and no guarantee that it'll happen quickly once we do start!!
That's really dumb about them not doing an STD check. If it's any help, I went to a womens drop in centre a few years ago and they did it for me there. Don't know where you are in the country but I went to St Mary's in Paddigton.I think it's more meant for women who've got real problems and want to go somewhere anonymously, but they were v friendly to me and it wasn't at all weird. Maybe that's a bit of an odd thing to do, in retrospect Blush but i was worrying that I'd picked something up and couldn't get to regualar doctor. They checked for everything, even HIV I think!

MakesCakesWhenStressed · 22/03/2011 16:04

as of today - 28 also :-D

tbh, I don;t think that I actually have anything, but I kind of assumed that they would check for it so if I did, they could treat it before there was a pregnancy to take into account, yanno?

Was kind of annoyed tbh. There I was trying to be all responsible and prepared and basically got treated like a time waster

Oh well :-)

I'm in Oxon, btw :-) I take it you're a Londoner?

MakesCakesWhenStressed · 22/03/2011 16:06

PS - good point. I keep assuming it'll happen: bam! As soon as we ditch the condoms. I blame all the years of PSE and sex ed - it's like reverse mythology!

Biccies · 22/03/2011 16:14

Hurrah on 28! Good age! Have you got lots of friends the same age with kids? I haven't really got any who are thinking about babies yet so finding the whole idea a bit daunting TBH. Just know I don't want ot end up aged 39 and panicking that I'll never have them...
Yes, in London at the moment but hoping to move out and get a bigger place sometime soon ? hopefully before baby comes along with all its clutter!

JustShaggingForNow · 22/03/2011 16:17

I'm also 28. Guess it's the age that you start hearing the tick tock!!!

bebejones · 22/03/2011 16:33

I am also 28! :o I will be 29 (at least) by the time we have another DC! Hmm

Very odd about the std thing, athough I guess they just assume that if you are in a serious relationship/married you aren't going to be picking any STIs up, which theoretically is true if neither you or your OH are playing away! FWIW I was tested for HIV, Syphalis (sp?) and Hepatitis (I think) when I was first PG with DD, and I was married! Think that is routine though. Not sure why they won't test you before, would have thought it made sense TBH!

MakesCakesWhenStressed · 22/03/2011 16:40

Biccies - totally the same sitch for me. I have one friend who's 31 who has a baby but the rest are childless or gay (not necessarily exclusive, I know, but they're not that bothered about babies) So I'm shit scared about starting a family, but am kind of hopeful that it'll be a good way to meet some more women my age and situation in my new area.

And bebe - how do they know one of us isn't playing away? Or in an open marriage (no, they didn't ask) Or just had a silent STD for the last six and a half years... All I'm saying is - why wait till already pg before testing??? (and for the record I'm not in an open marriage, or playing away! I was a bit of a player before I met DH though )

x

bebejones · 22/03/2011 20:25

Well that's what I mean, sorry didn't put it very well! Blush If you asked for it I don't understand why they won't do the tests. Surely doing them beforehand is the sensible thing to do?! Hmm

MakesCakesWhenStressed · 23/03/2011 08:42

Bah. Just the start of the cost-cutting measures we're going to see in the NHS (as was) over the next few years I fear.

Ahh, a lovely sunny day. Time to hang the washing out and get on with some work from home :-) How is everyone else today?

bebejones · 23/03/2011 08:49

Toddler group & Tescos for me today......typical Wednesday!! At least it's sunny!

jesieb · 23/03/2011 09:20

I was tested when TTC DS. They gave me a full MOT, smear and bloods. Will look for what they tested me for as can't remember now. but I came back good for everything, other than the one for my cycles, hormone levels etc. That one was inconclusive. But I got pg that month so never done the other tests lined up! They tested DH too. That was an experience! He had to come home from work, out a sample in a pot. The pot then had to go in my trousers pocket to keep it the right temp, then had to rush to the hospital to drop it off! LOL at the things we do!

When we start again I will go back again I think to have my rests re done as we tried for 6 months before stopping. And now my cycles are just getting longer again like last time. Last time I was up to 45 day cycles, this month i'm on day 35!

Bebe, your day sounds like ours yesterday.

House work for us today :( but i will take DS to park this afternoon. Should go to town, but not sure I will have time today!

AstroZola · 23/03/2011 17:22

Hey,
I'm also 28!! Funny eh?? I'm slightly worrying now about the fact that when i come off the coil that my bleeding will cause further trouble with my endometriosis causing further scar tissue and pain when TTC! It sucks. Anybody have any light to shed on this matter? I feel there's going to be absolutely nothing i can do about it other than grin and bear it! Sad

bebejones · 23/03/2011 18:14

Astro - no advice I'm afraid, all I can suggest is that you chart/OPK/SWI like a crazy woman to try & boost your chances of getting upduffed asap...not really very helpful I guess! Hope it doesn't make you poorly having it out! :(

Sorelip · 23/03/2011 20:15

Makescakes, according to the 10 pregnancy tests I've done, I'm not pregnant. Weirdness...

DarciesmumandTTC2 · 23/03/2011 21:44

Hey Ladies

Sorry not posted been really hectic. DD 6th birthday next week so preparing for that.

Happy Birthday to Cakes Grin joining those of us who are 28.

I had loads of swabs taken when I was rushed into hospital with my ovary thing so know is all clear. Currently on my last AF before TTC yay.

MakesCakesWhenStressed · 24/03/2011 11:48

Hello all - just dropping in, then back to work. How lovely is this weather - bare legs today! Might leave early so I can enjoy it properly :-D

DreamingOfABump · 24/03/2011 17:10

am busy thinking of lots of really "valid" reasons why i shouldnt wait til june to ttc now. among them are the percent chances of actually getting upduffed in the next couple of months being about 20% go, and that if we have a miscarriage (sad but realistic) we dont want to end up ttc for a christmas baby the next time.
maybe next month ;)ps, am 28 too. must be baby time!

MakesCakesWhenStressed · 24/03/2011 17:55

Hurrah! We should get jackets with embroidery on them, all matching - like the Pink Ladies in Grease.

I hope we all stay friends when people start getting upduffed. No green eyed monsters :(

jesieb · 24/03/2011 19:17

I'm sad i'm not in the 28 gang :( i'm 27

It's been level here again too today, been making the most of it do went to the park again this afternoon. DS had lots of fun chasing pigeons. But then these bigger kiss came and started to kick them, but luckily G just tried to catch them, no kicking.

Darciesmum, sounds exciting! :) hurry up and go AF and let the BD commence!

I got a job interview interview tomorrow so if I get the job then AF is here now, so after the next one we can start again! Not before though as DS is a Jan baby and it wouldn't be good to have two in Jan!

MakesCakesWhenStressed · 24/03/2011 19:32

Ah, only a year off - what'd'ya reckon guys - shall we let her be in our gang?

If we don't conceive until June/July we'll end up with yet another March/Aries person in our house and I think 2 is quite enough (and my mum is Aries too, plus mother's day isn;t far behind, it gets expensive!)

But comes a certain point when you just need to start trying and see what happens :-)

jesieb · 24/03/2011 21:35

I'll be 28 in November LOL

I agree that there are times you've just got to do it. There is always going to be a reason why not, your birthday, DH's birthday, holidays, Christmas, schooling etc.
But my reason for having a break from TTC is needing a job.

MakesCakesWhenStressed · 25/03/2011 10:38

So... smear test this morning. Not too bad, though still find it weird having anyone touch my genitals without sexual intent - guess I'll get over that as soon as I get upduffed, huh?

Had a nice nurse, which makes all the difference I think. Told her why I was having my test early and she told me to make sure to try and have the baby (hee hee - weird) in the midwife-led unit next door. I'd already decided this is what I wanted if possible, but nice to have it reinforced by a medical professional :-)

Right, now I'm just waiting for a period and for Christmas to not be exactly 9 months away...
x
Cakes

bebejones · 25/03/2011 11:18

Cakes - As soon as you are heavily PG you'll be letting anyone do anything down there just to get the baby out!! Wink And when you are in labour you won't care who sees it or goes near it at all! But yes, it is weird lol!

I'm trying to build up the courage to talk to DH again this weekend. I figure any time after Aprils AF would be ok to get upduffed. I got my friends wedding invite yesterday (wedding in June) and had always thought I would be pregnant by the time it came around! Not looking likely! :(

jesieb · 25/03/2011 22:38

LOL not really sure I was ever happy for the inspections whilst pg, but strangely the easiest time was when I had my stitches, cos by then I was so tired I just didn't care!

I got offered a job today! :D not 100% happy but i'm sure it will be fine. Think i'm just a bit nervous to be honest. But I need to get back on the work wagon. Would just prefer to be with DS then go to stinky work :(

JustShaggingForNow · 28/03/2011 09:17

Morning all! It's been very quiet on here over the weekend!
I had some very exciting news yesterday - my little sister got engaged!! Grin And I am going to be a bridesmaid! :)

Have a sneaking suspicion that the wedding will be in December though so that could mean having to put back TTC :( Am eagerly awaiting news on the date as soon as they have chosen it - fingers crossed they decide that they want to spring/summer wedding after all!

How has evey body elses weekend been?
