A safe place for everyone on the TTC after MC rollercoaster. Welcome and come in - virtual wine and chocolate for all, and lots of support and hand-holding until you get your BFP!

The thread moves fast but don't let that put you off - feel free to come along and stay to chat; or dip in and out with any questions.

If you want to join the stats, just add yourself to the list:

WTTC = waiting to TTC
UCL = usual cycle length

Good luck to all - here's hoping for lots of healthy, sticky BFPs by the end of the thread!

ZamMummyInGabs · 25/01/2011 19:24

this is such a lucky thread - here's to us all getting BFP's by March!!

ZamMummyInGabs · 25/01/2011 19:27

BackOnceAgain · 25/01/2011 19:31

(composes oneself) dachs!!!!! Arghhhhhh!!!! Brilliant. Super freaking brilliant. Grin

YRMOTB soz the old cow face bit you. I am a bit sad myself from the last time. I know I've only 'officially' been back here a month but tWas August when we lost ours so I get how you're feeling.

So I 'think' I might be fertile (new to this FF temp lark this month) so on top of general 'LIFE' I must: potty train an overdue 3rd old. Deal with my daughter getting her periods for the first time. Convince dh to swi after a 70 hr week at work (self employed, of course)

Much love to all tonight (and Sad for Jaffa xx)

Hello. Posted in another thread and was told to ask you lovely ladies!

Had erpc today. Blighted ovum diagnosed at 8 weeks, almost 2 weeks ago.
Took a little while to get pregnant which was a shock
as naively I thought it would be quick as ds happened after one careless night!

The loss wasn't a huge shock as I knew in my heart all wasn't well, but
still so sad to have it confirmed.

My main worry is when to try again. Midwife said wait one cycle but
doc today said to wait 3 months.

There is already a bigger gap than I hoped for between ds
and any new baby and I really don't want to wait so long,
especially as it could take ages to get pregnant.

What have others been told to do after erpc?

Congrats *Dachs"

Waves frantically to Izzy I'm still here!! Maybe it's the minority who need to find a new home Wink

IzzyWizzyletsgetbusy · 25/01/2011 19:40

Hello eggy I'm sorry you've had to find your way here Sad and I hope you're coping ok.

I had an erpc after a mmc at 16 weeks in July and afterwards the surgeon told me to wait until after I'd had one af before ttc again. When she'd gone I asked the nurse if there was any medical reason for this or was it just for dating purposes, and she said no medical reason (provided no complications with erpc - mine went "smoothly") but it's purely for certainty in dating if you get pg straight away. Obviously wait for any bleeding to stop first, but then I think you're ok to ttc as soon as you feel ready.

Like you, I already had a larger than ideal age gap (ds is 7 and dd is 4) so ttc again straight away. Plus, you never know how long it's going to take. I'm still ttc over 6 months later. If I'd "wasted" the first three of those months I think I'd be kicking myself now. Hope that helps x

Dachs so happy for you. I'm also with you on the not believing it until I see the bean (mutters 1 more week to scan). I really really hope this is the one.

Egggy sorry that you have to join the list but it's very welcoming and at the moment going through a tidal wave of graduations which is hopefully encouraging. I was told nothing by the hospital after the ERPC but my GP told me just to start again as soon as I felt ready and the sooner the better.

Saying which I only finally became pg last week which was 22 cycles later and following conceiving ds in 2 cycles and the mc in 1. It seems to vary with everyone and I have had the dubious record of being the longest no pg person on this list. Most seemed to manage it within 3-6months or sooner.

cep · 25/01/2011 19:50

Dachs second one is definately a clearer response. You gotta love those clearblue digi. Congratulations so very pleased for you.

eggy welcome, am sory you come to be here. I'm afraid i had mine naturally, but again was advised differently depending on who said it, the mc dr said 1 month, gp said 3, another gp said it was just for dating and as long as i didn't mind not really knowing when i'd be counting from i could start as soon as i wanted to.

thanks mummya alas i think i'm not in luck for tonight dh is not in the mood, and i daren't tell him i could be oving not after last week.

IzzyWizzyletsgetbusy · 25/01/2011 19:51

This thread has been such a lucky one for so many, but girls, and especially anyone feeling Grin but slightly Envy , please remember that we will all get there one day - all of us. Repeat after me: there is not a finite number of bfps in the world and ours will come!!!

Dachs I'm so pleased and still sending sticky thoughts your way x

eggy so you've found yourself here, these are an amazing bunch of ladies who have been there for me over the last couple of months. And just to show it does happen I got pg very recently straight after a mc, no period in between. I believe the only reason docs say that is cause it helps them the date you properly. I like to think of it like the ladies who get pg after having a baby!

LoveBeingADaddysGirl · 25/01/2011 19:57

Oh and hello everyone else as well Grin

owlbooty · 25/01/2011 20:02

lily06 · 25/01/2011 20:30

Congrats, Dachs, over the moon for you Grin

clareanna · 25/01/2011 20:32

dachs wonderful news! And yes lots of freaky stretchy periody type pains are normal and highly scary in early pg- think I felt like my af was about to start for about 2 weeks- totally stress making!!! So pleased for you x

MummyAbroad · 25/01/2011 20:45

welcome eggy so very sorry for your loss and all you've been through. Speaking as someone who did have complications after mc (retained placenta, infection, ERPC then Ashermans) I would say that waiting till first AF gives you the best added security, in that you know your body has got back to normal and is ready. Having said that, its very hard to wait, I know! (I didnt!) If you must start earlier be sure you wait for a negative home pregnancy test first, and do your best to spot when ovulation happens. "Just dating purposes" shouldnt really be dismissed, look at the stress the ladies on this thread go through in those early weeks with a BFP and think how you would feel if your first scan showed you "wrong for dates" or showed no heartbeat and you didnt know if it was because you were too early or if there was really a problem!

Great reading here about why doctors all have different opinions: www.pregnancyloss.info/trying_again.htm

and interesting stuff here about how doctors have changed their minds recently about when its best to TTC: www.guardian.co.uk/lifeandstyle/2010/aug/06/bmj-advice-for-women-who-miscarry

CaribouMoo · 25/01/2011 21:26

Bloody hell Dachs - that's amazing!! I didn't expect to hear your news until the 31st either, what a lovely surprise.

I second what clare said about the cramps. I've had that with all 4 pregnancies, it really feels like RTD is on its way. I'm grinning away here for you! Our best mates embark on round 4 of IVF next month, I just hope this is their lucky cycle too.

Quick hug for YRMOTB before going back to lurking. I got my hopes up for you, sorry it hasn't worked out but glad there's nothing wrong either x

PinkIsACheeseAddict · 25/01/2011 21:45

Ladies, I have found wifi at the hotel so I can talk to you on my phone without running the risk of a sacking when my blackberry bill arrives!!!!

Jaffa sorry you're here, it sounds like you've had a very tough time. Also welcome to eggy, sorry for your loss. I had a natural MC at 8 weeks and they advised to wait for a period which although was frustrating, was Probably pychologically good for me as the AF was very clotted and so it felt like i was fully 'flushed' and good to go again.
