Ok ladies, here's the new thread, let's hope it's a lucky one!

OP posts:
ToriaPumpkinHead · 11/12/2010 21:41

Evening ladies, sorry for the sudden disapearance, I was due to go to Glasgow to see Simply Red with my mother and we decided to leave a night early to make sure we got there so I'm just back after leaving Thursday straight from work!

Sorry to all the girls who ERTD got, I'm now into the 2WW after yet more confusing symptoms. Am drinking wine to make them less confusing! We did manage some SWI on Wed night before I went away so hopefully if those were ov pains I got to them in time Xmas Grin

Must dash as my mother is STILL here and I'm trying to be sociable, she's just on the phone to my step-dad so got a few minutes to pop online and I have about six million bookface things to reply to before people think I've dropped dead! Will be back tomorrow to catch up properly and chat to whoever's about. In the meantime, here's a vat of mulled wine and some festive vanilla cupcakes with green icing that a mum from cubs gave us Xmas Grin

Truffkin · 11/12/2010 22:01

So crap that ERTD has made so many visits this weekend, have a cocktail to assist with cheering up, I've made them with extra large measures Wink

Nice work on your shagfest Tiger especially with so many factors trying to distract you. Fingers crossed the hard work will pay off and also that the 2ww goes nice and quickly (especially as that will mean Christmas too!)

So I was expecting OV yesterday and was a bit Angry as we didn't exactly deliver on the flag hoisting as planned. Mr T was too tired on Weds and Thurs (well, I had a bit of a sulk on Thursday due to wednesday's tiredness - oops!) However no temp rise this morning and we did flag hoist for fun (as assumed to late to be with any intent!) last night so if temp rise tomorrow then we'll have accidentally timed things perfectly Grin

That will mean my 2ww should start tomorrow, leading up to Boxing Day - eek.

We did most of our Christmas shopping today but couldn't face starting the wrapping after a busy shopping trip so have that to look forward to tomorrow. Will hopefully also be getting a tree to decorate, which should get us nicely in the festive spirit. Hope everyone's making the most of the weekend.

TigerseyeMum · 11/12/2010 22:31

Is massive bloating a sign of anything? Except, perhaps, of eating too much of the wrong thing? Hmm

No ov pain, no nothing, just a suddenly massive belly. Odd.

Evening Truffkin Here's hoping you caught it at the right time. I think I am all shagged out so that will be the last of my flag hoisting for this time.

Getting our tree up tomorrow hopefully too.

Cookie and Josie I have special Irish coffees for you this morning. Seriously though, I hope you are OK.

Cavey just reading about your driving has exhausted me! Safe trip home and hope you get to see Mr Cavey. I found a little forces related snippet of info yesterday that I thought might interest you - I did an MA in psychology a couple of yrs ago and I was going through my notes and found a section on the subconscious' effect on ovulation (thought I'd best refresh my memory!) which said a study had been done on women who's OH's went away on duty for six months; the month of the chaps' return, nearly all the women on the base ovulated the day after the guys got back, regardless of their UCL or which CD they were on. It was as if the eggs knew when the men were going to be around and saved themselves... Anyway, thought you might be interested!

Toria how's your mum doing? I love my parents but it drives me mad if they stay longer than, oooooh, 6hrs! Hope you're OK and not having to sneak too much whisky into your breakfast tea. How was Simply Red?

Oh Truff you are good getting your shopping done. I haven't done mine yet but I know what I am going to get everyone (which for me is half the battle!) Fingers crossed your body managed to make your flag hoisting for fun more useful than you'd anticipated Xmas Wink

Tiger yes bloating is definitely a sign regardless of what you have had to eat / drink or where you are in your cycle. That's what I'm telling myself anyway - curse the lovely mince pies!

Waves to everyone else

No news from me today - am staying at home trying to keep warm. I might venture out with the hound and then have a friend coming round for lunch so nothing too taxing. Tomorrow I will be half way through the 2WW which is when I usually go totally psychotic so please feel free to ignore any posts from me next week!

Hope you all have a lovely relaxing Sunday Xmas Grin

CrazyAlien · 12/12/2010 09:00

hey everyone, sorry to hear f the arrival of ERTDs for some of you :( I think mine is on its way as eating everything in sight lol

Have had cramps for nearly ten days now and is slightly worrying! hope everything is ok down there!

Dh and I are off to a baptism this morning, fun fun fun, soooo can't be bothered, plus will have the question fired at me allll the time about when we are having kids!

rant over!

hope you all have a nice sunday

JosieSmith1 · 12/12/2010 09:25

Mornin everyone. I'm ok thanks, jst a bit disappointed again. Was at DH's family party last night and everyone there had kids except us and DH's younger brother, was a bit like salt rubbed in2 the wound. There was a newborn, right up 2 grown up kids, was a bit sensitive. It's bn 6 months now which I know isn't much 2 most people but it seems like a lot 2 us and I'm officially worried Xmas Sad. Jst gotta keep tryin though

Hope everyone is ok 2day, hugs 2 everyone else who was got by ERTD

TigerseyeMum · 12/12/2010 12:00

Josie I hang on to the fact that 18 months is the average, so 6 months (which it also is for us) is not so long. When I feel dwn about it I think of all the things I can and will do because I don't have kids - meals out, pubs, country walks, gigs etc. Cheers me up, even if only temporarily.

Morning.

I am thinking the bloating may have been ovulation pain last night. Due to my excessive coughing in the night I ended up with a strained feeling, specifically around my left ovary. So I reckon it popped one out. As we did not SWI yesterday or this morning I think we may have missed it :(

I don't know if it's too late now. If I ovulated overnight that would give me a 36 day cycle Hmm though as it keeps getting longer and longer that could be possible.

Oh I don't knowwwwwww. Safe to say though, I think we missed it. This is such an inexact science. I tell you, if men had babies we would have a friggin computer programme written about it by now.

JosieSmith1 · 12/12/2010 13:13

Thanks TigersEye, yes I suppose it's not that long, don't know why I'm more upset about it this time, think maybe because of our new girl at work havin such a young baby and she got pg straight away so I think that's affected me more than I realised. Will b ok though

JosieSmith1 · 12/12/2010 13:15

Forgot 2 say! Hope u haven't missed it TigersEye and that you've timed it right

gardenpixie · 12/12/2010 17:29

Crazy I am keeping my fingers firmly crossed that 10 days of cramping means you had ov pains swiftly followed by implantation pains and now your alienette is pushing things around because he / she wants more space to grow

Josie that sounds really hard for you. I hope you are OK. You are absolutely right that 6 months is still well within "normal" timeframes but that does not make it any less disappointing or frustrating for you. The uncertainty and lack of logic / rationale is infuriating; if someone could say to me "you'll definitely get pg but it won't be for another 6 months," I might have a bit of a rant but then I'd be fine, it's the up and down EVERY SODDING MONTH that is the killer. If it helps, it doesn't sound like you have any obvious / major issues so the chances of you falling pg very soon are hugely in your favour.

I know it doesn't make it any easier and it sucks that some people find out they are pg two weeks after deciding to go for it but it will be your time soon. I wish there was a magic resilience potion we could all take, but, while we're waiting for someone to invent it, will this large G&T with a slice of lime and lovely cracky ice cubes take your mind off things?

Tiger last month when I went for an ultra sound to see if I'd ov'd, the dildocam lady told me it's normal to get pains for several days after ovulation because your body is dealing with the fluid released at ov and because your ovaries stay enlarged while the corpus luteum carries on throwing out progesterone. So fingers crossed what you are feeling is post ov pain and that you managed to sneak in some SWI at the opportune time.

You are soooo right though: if men ov'd there would definitely be a computer programme, and probably, by now, an iPhone app to tell you exactly when you are about to ov, and to confirm that it's happened. And there'd be none of this POAS nonsense, oh no, there'd be some kind of GPS tracker set up in the fallopian tubes to confirm fertilisation and then some kind of satellite image of the embryo implanting! Whereas we have to drive ourselves mad for 2wks peeing on our hands by mistake because we have to use first morning urine and really who is properly awake by then ? on HPTs.

Right, mince pies and custard all round

Xmas Grin
CrazyAlien · 12/12/2010 18:31

garden hhmmmm I doubt it but thanks for the wishful thinking! I had this last month and went to docs and he said it was probably ovulation pains... for 2 weeks?! hmm unlikely, however this is 2nd month of using CBFM and I got a peak this month and BD around it, but no other symptoms at all.. interesting!

x

TigerseyeMum · 12/12/2010 19:34

Newsflash: I have a temp of 37.4 and I feel really feverish. Hmm. I think this says more about my chest infection than my ovulation though Grin

Does ovulating make your temp go down, or up?

gardenpixie · 12/12/2010 19:46

Tiger your temp goes down on the day of ovulation and then up afterwards ... hope you're not feeling too rubbish with your chest infection! xx

CaveMum · 12/12/2010 20:06

Evening ladies, safely back at home now after my 400 mile round trip!

Tiger I wouldn't put too much emphasis on temps if you are ill. Your temp will rise as your body fights infection off so it will be very difficult to see the usual dip that you would expect.

garden thanks for the pointer on the research. That does sound very interesting. I think our bodies work in very subtle ways that we simply just don't understand at the moment.

TigerseyeMum · 12/12/2010 20:06

Thanks Garden I wondered if it could be a combination of being post-ov and a bit poorly. Think I need more bed rest Grin

Truffkin · 12/12/2010 21:07

Evening all, just wanted to offer this large Baileys to Josie as we got our tree today and decided to crack open the festive drinks whilst enjoying the fairylit lounge!

Also Tiger if you SWI on the actual day of ovulation it's unlikely the swimmers will make it in time, that's why the day (or 2) before is good to aim for. If you temp regularly you can predict OV as your liteal phase rarely changes much and the temp increase the day after OV just confirms it (so long as the temps stay up) There is a thread in conception for charters and there are some great ladies on there who are a lot more knowledgeable than me!

Make the most of the rest of the weekend ladies (I'm about to wash off my hair dye. Have given in to DH's nagging and gone for festive red -eek!)

TigerseyeMum · 12/12/2010 21:33

Thanks Truffkin I may have caught it in time then.

Festive Red sounds nice for hair.

Baileys all round, that traditional Christmas drink Grin

My fever has gone down a bit, I took some painkillers which helped.

Might put the tree up now.

JosieSmith1 · 12/12/2010 23:03

Thanks Garden I know what you mean, if I was certain it's gonna happen I'd be ok with waitin, it's jst not knowin each month and wonderin if there's somethin wrong when it could be perfectly normal!

Thanks Truffkin too Baileys sounds lovely!

Even my sims got pg before me Xmas Grin. I've decided that as my next best time is the wk leadin up 2 xmas I'm gonna hav a good xmas shag a thon Xmas Grin

womanlytales · 13/12/2010 09:09

Monday morning, ladies :)
Sorry about ERTD showing up for some of you - I am also waiting for mine to show up. Alien Fingers crossed for you. garden - hope you have lots to do for the second half of the 2 week wait to help. Josie I personally believe that time is irrelevant - IE, it could be one month or 18 and it wouldn't make a difference to that sense of desolation when I see young children and wonder, when I'll be blessed with one of my own. I'd like to say that as the months get longer one gets better at handling these feelings but sadly with me that doesn't apply and it's allright- - Figuring out a 'pick me up' task right after these moments is key. I was around kids this weekend and something else struck me -- I feel so exhausted from the ttc woes that I am not sure I have the energy to look after a child...like I feel so old from the stress of trying..that I wonder how I will operate when I do have a child... all the more reason to not obsess and actively own that stress level ... Tiger Hope you are feeling better now.

Morning everyone,

Hope I got the list right - please shout if I've buggered up anyone's stats!

So I had a very interesting experience this morning - about thirty mins after I woke up, I felt horrendously sick, so much so that I had to sit down and have a break from getting ready for work. I then had odd crampy feelings. After about ten mins or so I felt better so carried on but then on the train into work this morning I felt very sick (although not like I was actually going to upchuck IYKWIM). Xmas Hmm

Obviously I was very excited ... but then Mr Garden said that last time I felt pukey, it was because I was allergic to housework and that today it was because I'm allergic to actual work. TBH he might be onto something Xmas Blush

Anyway, best get back to it all- but before I go, have these Monday morning Irish coffees to perk up the start of the week xxx

womanlytales · 13/12/2010 10:15

Garden This is exciting news - Am excited for you :)

gardenpixie · 13/12/2010 10:24

Thanks Womanly I am trying v hard not to get my hopes up - but then I thought it's just as devastating even when I haven't got my hopes up so I might as well have fun in the second half of the 2ww to keep me away from the HPTs! I do think that being allergic to work in general might well be a more likely option! Xmas Grin

slowshow · 13/12/2010 12:11
