Hi all
I didn't want to hop on a bus because i'm not really aiming for a specific month to have a baby in so i thought i'd start a general "trying to conceive a 2011 baby" and see if anyone wants to join me :D

Aunt Flo (period)...I had to ask too don't worry! Not a logical one in my opinion - never called it that in my life! Grin

strumpet82 · 02/12/2010 09:05

Oh!!!! No- i've never heard it called that either. Suddenly a lot of posts now make sense Grin.

Good morning all Smile

catmad2010 what are your DH's thoughts on the job offer now- is he not put off by the fact it would delay a possible pregnancy?

catmad2010 · 02/12/2010 09:42

Hey strumpet (wish I could do bold type!!) - unfortunately we're not in a financial position to turn the job down, it's really good money and well, life gives with one hand (job and money) and takes away with another (baby). It's a complicated situation as his work tends to be seasonal, just a bad time at the moment, which I know makes it look wildly irresponsible to be TTC however he has a big contract (hopefully 5 years) lined up in spring next year so we know we'll be financially secure from then on (and any baby wouldn't be due til the end of summer now), just need to get there! It was one reason we started TTC early than planned as I wanted to make the most of him being home til next spring (when he'll be working away anyway) Grin. Not an ideal situation! And also him working away from next spring means we'll have the same problem then anyway.....sigh.

How are you this morning anyway? :)

catmad2010 · 02/12/2010 09:46

Oh and I agree with your comment re your OH has to work with it to help get you pg - they all come round to the idea in the end, I think they find it hard at first the idea of "better times", I know my DH is eternally baffled (though he knew about clomid before I even brought it up....has he been googling!!?? Shock)....your DP will be secretly thinking about it more than you know :)

strumpet82 · 02/12/2010 09:59

catmad2010- your DP is ahead of me, I don't even know what clomid is Blush.

I am good this morning ta. I just want a week to fly by so I know if i'm AF is here or not. It seems like such a long time to wait, and I don't wanna tempt things by testing myself to be heartbrokenly crushed.

strumpet82

catmad2010 · 02/12/2010 10:42

The week's til AF drag don't they! Mine came a bloody week early so I suppose at least it took a week's agony out of it! Fingers crossed for you!

Clomid is a fertility treatment which helps women ovulate :)

strumpet82 · 02/12/2010 10:53

catmad2010 Ah, I didn't know that.

Like you say, a period a week early is better than one a week late, still no period at all would be better!!! Smile

notreallymyname · 02/12/2010 11:00

Catmad; Sorry about your negative result.

A chemical pregnancy is usually when an egg is fertilised and the body starts to react to it, but it doesn't implant, or for some reason it implants and doesn't develop. I think they're actually relatively common but most women don't realise that they're even pregnant unless they're actively trying and keeping an eye on cycles etc.

Also Clomid triggers ovulation but it's an anti-estrogen so it decreases the amount of fertile mucus. The fertile mucus actually helps the sperm to get up the cervix and provides 'food' for them to survive longer. That means that with clomid you usually have to time sex much more precisely to conceive.

You'd have to weigh it up and see. But you probably need to know that.

Like an idiot I went and tested early; got a negative so I think I'm probably out (2 days isn't that early) till next month. Which might actually mean not till next year :( Will see for sure at the weekend I suppose...

strumpet82 · 02/12/2010 11:09

notreallymyname keep positive, as you say, you tested early so you may still end up with a BFP!

strumpet82

Iwish · 02/12/2010 12:05

Hi all. You have been busy this morning!!
catmad I'm sorry ad arrived, that sucks!
notreally sorry about your bfn :(. There is still a little chance tho, in case you ov'd late or something.
Hi strumpet hope your 2ww flys by and ends in a bfp :)
And for me - still no flipping af!!!!! Aaarrrggghhhh!! I'll be happy if I get a bfp at this late day but if my af arrives after all this time I will be very unhappy!

notreallymyname · 02/12/2010 15:03

eeek. Have had some spotting. Could be early period, or implantation bleeding on the very latest edge of the 'normal' time. 7-10 is usual, but 12 (which it is) isn't abnormal.

I wish I hadn't tested. Stupid. It was only because I found the test in a drawer from last time I tried, should have kept it till Sunday!

Iwish · 02/12/2010 17:59

Hi notreally sorry you have some mysterious spotting but fingers crossed it's implantation and not af. You could have ov'd a few days later than normal so you may be only say 10 dpo rather than 12. Is spotting before af normal for you?
Well I ordered some ov tests, ultra early pg tests and a thermometer off the Internet yesterday and they arrived today - The pg tests were calling me so I did one and bfn and they are so sensitive it can't be wrong :( I wish my stupid af would show it's flipping face so I can plan on doing something constructive like SWI!!

LFB13 · 02/12/2010 21:38

Hello All,

I'd like to join.

We took the decision to TTC#1 since July 2008. I'm endo stage 2, came off Depo in Feb 2009. No period until x2 came along this October (just like buses!) now seem to be cycling 'normally' although i reckon it may be a little early to say that.

Due to my endo we're on the IVF list but in our area it's a 13month waiting list - starting Aug 2010.

So we're SWI (acronyms are new to me!) but have no idea about cycles/ovulation times or anything as it's simply far too early to tell.

fingers crossed but i don't want to pressure the situation and would like to enjoy SWI and see where it takes us!

Zippyette · 02/12/2010 22:10

Thanks notreally for the link, the first couple of times i tried i just thought the fertile period would be on or just before OD, but have now been trying up to 5 days before- thanks to this sites conception diary thingy!!!

Sorry to hear about your r'ship situation catmad that must be really frustrating, he better make sure those three weeks are around OD or he'll have to start posting it home!! :o

I'm inbetween OD and AF so twiddling thumbs atm, took a PT a bit too early last month, usually start AF in morning and it hadn't come by end of day so passed Boots on way home and 'aherm' bought PT! Of course it was BFN, AF then decided to start within an hour, but to top it all off DP read PT wrong and for 30 secs i was in shock thinking i was preggers Shock!!! Bit of an emotional roller coaster Confused, so am gonna try to hold it together this month if AF tries to play tricks on me again!! It's hard tho!

Iwish · 03/12/2010 18:13

Welc

Iwish · 03/12/2010 18:31

Welcome LFB. Do you know what your usual cycle lengths are? And have you tried the ovulation calculators online? They can give you a rough OV time.

Hi zippy hope you are ok. When is af due?

How is everyone else? Anything to report?

notreallymyname · 03/12/2010 19:06

Hi LFB

No problem zippy

It's not happening this month for me; proper period bleeding arrived today just a bit early. I probably won't be able to try next ovulation - though I'll message my donor just to check if he's free when it's approaching but December is a pretty busy month! So it might have to be my new year resolution to chart really really properly!

(fingers still crossed for anyone waiting to find out anything Xmas Smile )

Iwish · 03/12/2010 23:06

Hi notreally sorry af arrived properly today :(. Hope you are feeling ok (as ok as can be expected). Fingers crossed that you can try this month too.

MrsB33 · 04/12/2010 09:57

Hi ladies, can i join please, this will be my first month of ttc, actually last nyt was our first nyt of ttc.
The low down, 33 next week, got pg with my first baby after my wedding in july, started to bleed week 13 hadnt had a scan by this time, found out that week i had had an mmc at 8 weeks, finally micarried a week later, natural 22nd sept. Well im now on my second cycle had my last Af on the 24th nov, lasting 3,4 days. Started taking my temps and broughs some ov sticks but havent used the info yet, can anyone offer any advise?
Thanks

Iwish · 04/12/2010 12:04

Hi mrsb welcome to the thread. Sorry to hear about your mc.
How long are your cycles usually?

AF arrived for me this morning. Upset but knew it would eventually show it's face :(.

Hope everyone is ok

MrsB33 · 04/12/2010 12:56

hi there iwish and thanks for the welcome my periods are bang on 28 days, and the last two have been bang on too, which is suprising after such a traumatic mc.
My last pg i didnt chart, i just went with the theory that between 10-16 days after my af i would ovulate so just made sure we were ttc every two days during this period, im hoping this is going to work this time and get a BFP soon... Its been a emotional year!

Iwish · 04/12/2010 21:35

Hi mrsbI hope you get your bfp soon too :) fingers crossed for us both.
Wish my sodding cycles would be the same every month, can't remember them bring the same every month before I was on the pill. Got excited this month when af didn't arrive same as my last few cycles (27,25,26) eventually arrived after a 32 day cycle!
Ive already been looking at my calendar (mrs impatient)and based on an average of my cycles af would be due new years eve. What a nice new years gift if I were pregnant.

ch85 · 04/12/2010 23:21

Hey ladies,

Hope you don't mind if I join in. Thinking about ttc no 2 after Xmas. DD1 will be two in Feb. Being sort of careful at the moment (trying to avoid most fertile parts of month or use withdrawal) but would be secretly quite pleased if found out pregnant anyway.

Does anyone else have a gap of just under 3 years? Am hoping that the gap is small enough for them to still play together cos couldn't have managed with any less.

Slightly nervous about doing it cos will mean a year of double childcare before DD1 goes to school and at the moment we have quite flexible childcare arrangements with childminder as husband self-employed. Wondering how this would work with two but struggling to wait any longer. Is anyone else worried about telling work they are pregnant?

MrsB33 · 05/12/2010 23:29

thanks iwish, my af is due on the 22nd of dec and normally they are bang on (without jinxing it) so fingers crossed i get a bfp on the 22nd, be a nice early xmas prezzie for me and my hubby, so im keeping everything crossed for a bfp and a successful pg.
Welcome ch85, sorry cant offer any advise on sibling gaps as currently have no childrens, boo hoo!!!
Myself and my sister have a 2 yr gap and 3 yr woth my brother, which is great as we were all at secondary school together and have a fab relationship

In terms of work mine were fab, told my boss at 9 weeks for appointments ect and they were even better when it came to time off for my mmc in sept.
